    47 year old, life long, die-hard Bruins fan here... I've been following Jumbo since the draft. As a Bruin, he was my favorite. The trade was heartbreaking, but I can't lie, I became a Sharks fan (very quietly) and I'll be a Joe fan for life. What a guy. What a (censored) great guy! I'm not crying, it's a little dusty. Love this. Love it!!!

    Had the pleasure of attending this game, as well as Marleau’s. The applause this man received was like nothing I’ve ever heard at a sports event. Well deserved for my favorite player of all time, and in my opinion the greatest shark of all time. 19 and 12 in the rafters where they belong, congrats Big Cup Of Joe ❤️

      What are you talking about! He sucks. Absolutely could never win when it mattered. Why would that be your favourite player of all time, he’s known for a playoff beard. That he still wears today for some reason. Maybe a reminder that he could never win

      I understand why they both went to Toronto to mentor. It seems like it’s working because Toronto will never win with that core four either.

    They say never meet your heroes. Well I met Joe before he was my hero. I first met him when he was in Jr B after a game. His mom started working with mine during his last year of Jr B and she invited us over to see Joe just after he had finished his first season in the OHL. I was just 13 at the time and while he was only 17 but he was already classy Joe back then. He was so welcoming and we talked hockey for a good hour. He showed me his room with all his jerseys and trophies and I was astonished by it all. The year he was drafted to Boston he held a charity game to support the local jr b team and invited me to the open skate he had with a bunch of guys from the CHL and NHL that had played in the game. He set me up during the scrimmage to score on Dan Cloutier and I will remember that day for the rest of my life. He is the first player I have ever followed from start to finish of their career and I will miss seeing him play. Sometimes meeting your hero can be great. Congrats Joe on an amazing career.

    Met Alex and Joe around '99. Real nice guys. Within 2 weeks of hanging out was told I had to go back to their hometown with them, and that it was the best. I didn't, and now seeing that it was a farm cracks me up. Speaks volumes about how real they are.

    That's too bad I didn't get to go to this one. Joe Thornton was so incredible to watch when he played. My wife and I did see the Patrick Marleau ceremony in 2023, but sadly we missed this very recent one with Joe Thornton. It's a little less than a 2-hour drive to get to San Jose from where I live anyways but it had more to do with some other things going on. Glad that Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton have their jerseys retired next to one another.

    Many people are facing a challenging retirement, and it’s becoming even harder for workers to save due to low-paying jobs, inflation, and rising rents. Now, middle-class Americans are also struggling to afford homes, leaving them without a secure place to retire.

    • @EthanWalter-wn3mk

      Rising costs have affected my plans to retire at 62, work part-time, and continue saving. I’m starting to wonder if those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had it easier than what I’m experiencing now. The combination of stock market volatility and reduced income is causing anxiety about whether I’ll have enough funds for a comfortable retirement.

      Financial experts recommend saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k). Joseph Nick Cahill taught me how to estimate my savings needs based on age and income. I’ve worked with him for years, and his decades of market experience have added incredible value to my portfolio. Thanks to his guidance, my investments have significantly grown.

    I must say, hockey and SJ Sharks are not the same without Jumbo and Patty. Other memorable players like Jeff Fiesen, Owen Nolan, Artūrs Irbe, Nabby, Chich, Little Joe, Kooch and so many other great players gave us so many great memories and Joy. Unfortunately, once the Sharks went woke and got into politics, I stopped watching them after 30 being a die-hard fan. I am still a Pre-2020 SJ Shark die-hard fan and always will because of those great players.

    Big shoutout to Joe from Toronto! Amazing career! To all those a$$holes who think Jumbo sucks because captaincy didn't work, bad captains don't mean bad players. Jumbo Joe is retired by the Sharks, and he WILL be inducted into the hockey hall of fame.

    • @3lackavar
      @3lackavar หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jumbo wasn't a bad captain at all. The team management wanted a face lift to take the team into the future as Jumbo was past his prime and Pavelski's voice in the room was getting more respect and he was at the height of his prime. Captaincy is usually a coach's decision but former GM Doug Wilson made the decision to strip the C. Jumbo was a great sharks captain as was Patty.

    • @punasher
      @punasher หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @3lackavar I agree with you. I was speaking out against all the nay-sayers who were outraged that these two had their numbers retired despite "sucking as captain". They think that Jumbo and Patty were stripped of the "C" because they sucked. And I'm telling them they can "suck it" because these two will be honoured no matter what.

    This organization needs too win some Stanley cups, it’s fan base deserves it, I mean give me a break other teams that came in to the league after the Sharks have already won a cup give me a break, it’s bettmans way of being sneaky trying to save these other markets, were markets like Buffalo, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Minnesota and San Jose are Markets , it’s like the NHL is as crooked as the NFL, Bills, Lions, Vikings, Bengals, Falcons and Browns have not won Superbowls that’s why I haven’t gone to a NHL and NFL game in 18 years those leagues are crooked to their loyal markets that’s why I will not support or go to their games.
