When I was younger, I'd go off to my dad's cabin in the woods by myself. There's nothing like sitting out in the crisp night winter air and listening to the wolves. But now that I'm in my mid 60's, I just reminiss about days gone by. I did a winter campout for a month, 25 years ago. Time flew by but what an experience. I wouldn't have traded that for anything. I love your videos. Thank you and God Bless
I’ve never camped but I spent summers and weekends as a child with my siblings, parents and grandparents at their cabin on a small lake in southwest Virginia. The memories are priceless. I’m very close to 60 now and I know exactly what you mean. I cherish my memories. I dread the day when my mind will no longer wander back to the days of my youth.
IMPORTANT TIP! In that headlamp, there are 3 AAA batteries. When your light gets dim and weak.....only ONE battery in that little bank is dying. The other two are great! I learned this with a compact AA & AAA battery tester. It’s the way most portable equipment is wired. NEVER ditch all 3 as bad as they ARE NOT! I find the dead battery and replace it with one good one! Been doing this for years!
@@sherryjohnson3804 its awesome hey. The crisp sounds of everything & very relaxing. Im in Australia & its summer here so I find it so refreshing to watch these vids- at night just before sleep :)
I don’t comment much, but really liked this video. If you ask me why, I just don’t know. You’re much more relaxed, more “going with the flow”, it just clicked. What you’re doing …well, this one just gives me peace of mind. Thanks.
I wanted to thank you for putting out these videos. They help me by taking me somewhere else when times get tough at home. I just lost my father in October of 2022 and it was a very hard time for me and my family. It is still hard right now but to be able to be taken away to your world out there in the woods of Canada (I live near Detroit so Windsor is actually South of me and very close) helps more than you know.. Thank you and please keep on posting. God bless.
I hope things improve for you and your family. Although the passing of a loved one is very painful and requires time to mourn, I can tell you things will get better a little at a time. You're right to watch such relaxing videos as it helps to ease your mind. I wish you well and may you find the sun again soon.
Thanks for sharing. I am a married retired teacher that lives in Southern California. Love your experience with all the details . I will be looking forward to more Julie
Who couldn’t make it to the end???? You’re awesome to watch. You take us on a journey most of us only dream about. Plus, you are just you. Real and humble. Thank you!
I made it till the end, absolutely amazing video bro, I love the content and and as a disabled Veteran, I find so much peace in your videos, when I'm having some of my worst days of dealing with PTSD, I can't watch you videos and it takes my mind to a better place. Thank you for sharing, I hope one day I'll be able to get out there able and do the same thing you're doing, God bless
I have to give you credit Jay. The set up and take down is a lot of work that most of us wouldn't do but you sure enjoy it. Keep these enjoyable videos coming.
I am very happy to have accidentally found you. Been watching for a while now and when I see a new video I have to make time to set and watch the whole thing. You teach a lot of people about how wonderful it is to put yourself out there. Push your limits. My favorite cabbage dish is something my dad made a lot. Pork, carrots, cabbage, celery, and soy sauce. Just cooked down together until the pork is tender. Always use twice as much cabbage as you think you might need. Happy trails
I always thought I was weird because I like winter hiking and camping. I really enjoyed your video! Great tent, wood stove and the area is beautiful! I’m so envious
Always make it to the end cuz I find camping or should I say glamping in Winter the most fascinating adventure to have, I don't like bugs and most importantly I don't like spiders so winter is perfect and I love warming up rather than cooling down in a nice clean space
Thank you Jay for what ever you can give us. It always comes at the right time. I’m sitting here nursing a cold feeling miserable. The more I watched your channel, I asked the question, What is it that drew me to subscribe? It’s your attitude towards everything you do,your calming voice, your attention to detail and your solutions to anything you might encounter. I need an attitude adjustment. This to shall pass. You are my favorite find on TH-cam.👏👏
Excellent job again. In the southeastern US we don’t get to see snow and winter camping like that. Thank you for taking us on these journeys with you. It means a lot.
The lone solitude of a cold still night with a good wood fire- just the thought gives my soul peace, the glitter on the snow from the moonlight is just as soothing 😊. The bonus- is when it's cold enough that the trees snap , great video
I love it when one of my Canadian friends looks at ten below zero and grouses about a warm winter. LOL! Those are some killer drone shots, Jay, no kidding. Could be you're pretty good at this... 😄
I always watch to the end because I enjoy all your videos. You are in the top three of my favorites. The other two are AB Camping and Steve Wallis. Three great guys. This tent has got fantastic headroom. No need to feel claustrophobic in this one. Stay safe and warm.
I like your calm demeanor and at the same time.. your enthusiasm... I'm hooked...on your video...I can feel your love of the outdoors..the calm..the work to be done..the relaxation.. Reminds me.. when I'm in my favorite place...I totally hear you...for me..its my huge blue lake Ontario, the fields, the Waves, the sand, the wind, the Sun., Swimming, discovering the country side, the wildlife.. endless walks in the fields.. I'm in love with the elements which makes me feel so happy and at peace.. soothing... ❤️❤️😊😊👍
Yours is definitely one that I watch clear to the end! I love, love, love your videos! I truly look for them each week! Keep up the terrific work and if you skip a week, we’ll be right here when you get back! 😊
Hello Jay! I have to say sometimes I will watch a Videos more than once. You are amazing to brave the elements as you do.! I especially like to watch you enjoy the fantastic food you prepare. It must taste even better in the outdoors.. watching you puts me in a whole different state of mind and I’m sure it’s so peaceful in the solitude of the beautiful outdoors. Does something to your soul like nothing else. Stay safe, my friend and keep posting the beautiful videos. God bless.
Love every single video! Retired grandma here. How I dream of this every night. Let this Kansas grandma join you for my ultimate bucket list dream. My 10 grandkids would flip their lids. Be safe out there. Vicariously yours, Michelle in Kansas.
I'm from Oklahoma and the coldest place I ever camped was Kansas with my daughter's boy scout troop at a gathering called Trappers. Never got above freezing mostly in the teens, regular 2 person tents.
Of course I watched to the end. Snuggled safe and warm under my comforter with my flannel sheets, lol! There is something so cozy about watching you master the elements and the extreme temps. I've been a sub for a while. You allow me to share an experience I would never have the courage to attempt on my own. You make it seem like the most natural thing in the world. Frigid temperatures, surrounded by snow? No problem! Your content is amazing. Thanks for bringing us along.
Well it was relaxing to watch this video. I went camping for the first time at nearly 50 years old this past Nov. Growing up in the 'hood, camping isn't something we did, or thought about. It wasn't part of our culture. It was a foreign concept. "Other people" did stuff like that, (if you know what I mean) IYKYK I guessed I was more of a "glam ping gal" but I completely enjoyed myself. Watching you, inspired me to go back and improve /upgrade my camping supplies. I actually joined REI and I just won the North Pines Lottery for Yosemite. Ive subscribed so that you can continue educating me, so I'll appear like a pro when we go later this year. Thank you
The tent looks like it will withstand the winter weather. Very roomy and cozy with the woodstove. Food looked good. I love camping too and can also get lost in thoughts of planning a new adventure. Being out in nature can't be beat. Enjoyed the video.
At the start I thought "Oh no. He's a talker." But I thoroughly enjoyed your narration. When you got to the end and said you were Canadian, I thought "Aha. That explains why you're not annoying." Sorry Americans, but it's true. I actually felt at times that you were talking to me. You have a gift. I'm looking forward to checking out your other videos. Being Australian, snow camping is fascinating to me. Not sure how I'd cope. I'd need to go with an experienced snow person first I think. And I'd want a floor. But it looks so cozy and inviting. I've done the same thing with the ropes btw. Great minds think alike and all that. 😁😁
I love the new tent, simple and cozy. Your videos are so relaxing, I can barely keep my eyes open but I too watch til the end. Thanks for bringing us along on your adventures!
Jay you came across my feed about a month ago, and Ive watched to the end and subscribed as well since that first day!!! I love watching your videos!! Im not able to do the winter activities that I used to due to health reasons, but I want to thank you for the weekly chance too be able to get back out into winter!!! See ya next week!
Made it to the end no problem, enjoy watching challenge yourself in the extreme temps. The content of staying alive at -40 comfortable, even getting in and out of the woods can be a challenge. Been there and done that! It's a lot of prep work executing tasks for one night or setting up for long term camping up north. I think you did an excellent job setting up on new site. I just finished 5 nights in my hot canvas tent, unbelievable warm weather for January month as you say. Excellent weather for gathering wood though. Thats a workout for this old guy. Thanks again for bringing us along!
What a great set up Jay , I know what you are saying when I am at home and can't sleep I think of my camping days and how peaceful the nights are and I fall fast asleep
Count me as one who watches every video to the end! Always fun, interesting and brings back memories of my times spent camping. I was a fair weather camper but love watching you and your adventures.
Dude, your doing the thing sooo many of us would love to be doing! We are living vicariously through your video uploads!! *But yeah, have a break and spend it with your kiddo!
Thanks for another amazing video Jay. Getting to watch your videos and live the outdoor dream through you is amazing thank you for putting out these videos. Right now in my part of Canada it's looking like no deep cold winter camping here so keep it up and show us how beautiful the Yukon is. Oh and for a quick meal, something I like to take when I go camping is: some ground beef, (could use stewing beef or a chopped up flank steak too) a bit of chopped up bacon (sausage is also a good sub... spicy ones work great too), a pasta noodle of your choice peppers and onions to taste shredded cheese - cook up the noodles first then set aside in a bowl - cook the beef and bacon - If you like soft peppers/onions add them next and let soften - add the noodles back in to warm them back up - mix in the shredded cheese - once all hot and melty serve seasoning I just use red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder (I cant eat onions so I use onion powder instead) and a bit of smoked paprika and chili powder and put tabasco on top when served. Makes for a nice cheesy beef/bacon noodle bowl with a bit of a kick. You could also sub in chicken or lamb if you wanted to change it up. Enjoy the camping and I hope your winter lasts far longer than it has down here in Southern Ontario.
How can we not watch till the end. The new tent is magnificient and gives the impression of space and light. Perfect shroud of cover from trees around base. What you make look easy and normal clearly isnt. Keep on keeping on Jay with the great content, informative hints and tips, and wonderful filming. All the very best.
I always watch to the end. You are my second favorite camper just behind @Baum_Outdoors. Coming in second is quite the honor because I subscribe to about 12 of these channels. You guys are inspiring this 64 year old woman to get out there with nature. My goal is an UP2 RBM tent with a Caminus M stove. Baby steps for this old lady. Thank you for all the wisdom that you relay through your wondrous videos!
The best parts are the editing and camera shots, its just the right amount of camera time per scene to keep it real interesting. Lots of work to set up the camera for snow mobile coming in, night shots, drone shots. And Jay's mannerisms of how great everything is and how he loves the food and experience is always entertaining.
Dude. I always watch to the end. I love watching your videos. Seriously, it's so interesting and really fun to watch you deal with life way up there in the far North (compared to here in the deep South)! Just keep on doing what you do, and I'll keep on watching you do it. Thanks for all the great videos!
WHAT I REALLY LIKE ABOUT YOU GUYS' WINTER CAMPING IS THE FACT THAT TIME IS OF NO CONSEQUENCE FOR YOU. THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO RUSH ON A WEEKEND TO RUN OFF TO WORK ON MONDAY. I LOVE THIS VIDEO AS I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO WINTER CAMP SOLO.
Made it to the end....and I loved the video! You looked very comfortable in that tent. Keep those videos coming, I really enjoy them Jay! Take care of yourself.
Well this was my first video of yours and I am now a new subscriber. I absolutely love going camping I never thought about winter camping but I am now thinking of winter camping. Man did it look so peaceful and beautiful thanks for a very relaxing video.
My second video!! Jay, I can see why you love this tent. You have the best of both worlds with your two locations. Easily made it to the end. I love your approach and how easy you make it look when I know that it’s not. Thank you for sharing!!!
I've been catching up - recent subscriber - and I can honestly say (and I'm sure many have said it before) that your videos give me a wonderful boost of peace and serenity. Thank you Jay
I'm not an outdoors, love camping, type person. But I'm going to subscribe to your channel because I love the fact that you are so in love with camping and everything about it. You are very, very, fortunate to have this kind of love, and I am so very glad for you. All the best.
Wow, imagine this - it is actually colder here in Eastern Ontario than it is where you are (-24 with windchill at 8am in the morning when I awoke, though it has climbed up to a balmy -21 right now). And right now, I am watching your video in a modern apartment building and I have a space heater on (building management, though they deny it, is being stingey with the heat this winter). It is positively nippy in here. Fortunately..., I have the glow of your wood stove to keep me warm (psychologically). I always love your videos, Jay. Keep on churning them out.
I watched 'til the end. 😀 This is my first time seeing your channel. I am in the San Francisco Bay area. We don't get snow here (but do sometimes, a few miles away. I've never seen it, though). I have been on a few vacations to snowy places but never camped in the snow. I've always liked the cabins, homes, and hotel I've stayed in. I did ski in Southern California once. It was fun. I love forests and seeing you out there makes me happy and brings back special childhood memories, thanks to my parents, who took us to Sequoia National Park. I am now disabled and can't go on snow trips so watching your channel, so far, takes my mind away from here. I will sub.. Take care.
More cabbage fill to the brim it will cook down, start with a little olive oil, crisp the bacon then pull it off. Cook your onion and sausage then put in your damp cabbage, salt then fry/cook your cabbage until completely soft. Sausage should be done then add back your crispy bacon adds a nice texture and crunch. Just had that tonight with armadillo eggs and Mexican cornbread. Good video Jay looking for the next one. THANK YOU for sharing.
I like watching your video’s Jay, even enjoyed the one where you took your daughter camping with you. And yes I do watch them to the end. But here’s a recipe for you to try Jay. Beef tips cubed, baby carrots, onions, bell peppers, grape tomatoes, green Chili’s. Sauté the veggies in butter, after browning the beef tips then add beef tips to veggies and simmer for 20 minutes and enjoy. Add biscuits if you want.
Awesome as always Jay. Great setup. You looked cozy and warm. Thank you for sharing. I like all the tips you give plus that food the steak was looking mighty fine super yum yum good. Lol, plus I don't know what the second meal was called, but it sure looked scrumptious 😋 I'm going to go back and watch this video again so I can right down all the stuff you put in it I know it was bacon 🥓 lol I know I could just rewind or fast forward, but I like the video, and I don't mind watching for the third time or so it that good. Thanks for taking us along on your awesome adventures. KEEP ADVENTURING GOD BLESS YOU 🤗HUGS🤗
I watched to the end and I'm impressed with that insulating pad. I loved hearing the crunch of the cold snow too. Loved all the outside photos as well. Thanks for taking us along on your winter camping trip. ❄
I love the kielbasa and slaw mix with kale in it, onions, and I separated tater tots into hash browns! So good! Nice tent! First time I’ve seen you. Great!
I always watch to the end! Your camping environment is a beautiful and peaceful place that you share with us, thank you so much, for giving us a glimpse into that white snow covered world that we don’t get to experience ourselves.
Well the you tube algorithm brought me here plus the really excellent content. Amazing a woman who hates winter would be fascinated by a set up of a winter tent. Think you have right elements of offbeat, awesome photography, charm, food and an escape for the scary cats like me and the outdoor activity buffs. Love your tents.
I watched it to the end. I like to look at different types of tent videos. I’ll never be in a snowy place; I’m in Phoenix Arizona. I don’t have friends who really go to cold snowy airlines. The first good friend who invites me to a snowy camp/tent, I’ll go. 😊
That sausage, bacon, onion, and cabbage looked reallllllly good. Perfect food for those balmy temperatures. That pentagon tent will make a comfortable spot all winter with plenty of room, and a friendly 'neighbor' to borrow things from when he's not looking. Lol. See ya next time!

I'll be honest, sometimes I don't watch until the end because it's far too relaxing and I end up falling asleep 😄
Me too, that's why watching while in bed before I fall asleep :)
LOL I just did the same thing while watching. I had to go back to where I left off and continue.

One of my favorites. Always watch to the end. Being in the middle of the wilderness is one of my favorite places to be in this world.
Exactly i dislike cities full of humans, humans that live in the wilderness are kinder more sensible and less likely to get on one's nerves.

Oh and for a quick meal, something I like to take when I go camping is:
some ground beef, (could use stewing beef or a chopped up flank steak too)
a bit of chopped up bacon (sausage is also a good sub... spicy ones work great too),
a pasta noodle of your choice
peppers and onions to taste
shredded cheese
- cook up the noodles first then set aside in a bowl
- cook the beef and bacon
- If you like soft peppers/onions add them next and let soften
- add the noodles back in to warm them back up
- mix in the shredded cheese
- once all hot and melty serve
seasoning I just use red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder (I cant eat onions so I use onion powder instead) and a bit of smoked paprika and chili powder and put tabasco on top when served. Makes for a nice cheesy beef/bacon noodle bowl with a bit of a kick. You could also sub in chicken or lamb if you wanted to change it up.
Enjoy the camping and I hope your winter lasts far longer than it has down here in Southern Ontario.
i also love your drone shots..im always amazed how you manage it! well done
Thanks, Gerald. I'm always trying to try new things with it when I can. It's really fun.
Very awesome to watch your videos my friend, such an amazing nature and absolutely very cold. Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
How can we not watch till the end. The new tent is magnificient and gives the impression of space and light. Perfect shroud of cover from trees around base. What you make look easy and normal clearly isnt. Keep on keeping on Jay with the great content, informative hints and tips, and wonderful filming. All the very best.
I loved this video. Watched all the way to the end. Enjoy a small break and come back all rested.
Yea I love watching Baum outdoors and camping with Steve...
Awesome..It's too Good and i feel relaxing after watching this video.
I am so glad to see someone that actually has a floor in there tent while winter camping.
Beautiful vídeo! I liked when you said that you love the cold weather and how you enjoy being in the woods.
Well this was my first video of yours and I am now a new subscriber. I absolutely love going camping I never thought about winter camping but I am now thinking of winter camping. Man did it look so peaceful and beautiful thanks for a very relaxing video.
Welcome to the channel, Samantha! Thanks for subbing. Jay
Nice setup...We don't get much of that white stuff here at 12 degrees north latitude but it looks refreshing =)
no we get very little snow in the UK too
Wow, imagine this - it is actually colder here in Eastern Ontario than it is where you are (-24 with windchill at 8am in the morning when I awoke, though it has climbed up to a balmy -21 right now).
Now I believe I could stay in that tent. Looks cozy. I bet tgat floor makes all the difference in the world.
So glad to see that you are making use of a floor. I see a lot of people camp with no floor. How gross, wet, cold, mud. Use a floor.
Omg lol I love how you shovel the snow in perfectly straight lines. :D It's super satisfying for some reason. You are so orderly!!!
Made it to the end, I usually don't last 37 minutes, but today I did. Thanks
Yes! Thanks so much Nathan. Jay
The Kolbasa sausage and cabbage meal is so appropriate for a meal in that tent. Slavic food in a Slavic tent!
Awesome as always Jay.
Great setup. You looked cozy and warm. Thank you for sharing. I like all the tips you give plus that food the steak was looking mighty fine super yum yum good. Lol, plus I don't know what the second meal was called, but it sure looked scrumptious 😋 I'm going to go back and watch this video again so I can right down all the stuff you put in it I know it was bacon 🥓 lol
I know I could just rewind or fast forward, but I like the video, and I don't mind watching for the third time or so it that good.
Thanks for taking us along on your awesome adventures.
KEEP ADVENTURING
GOD BLESS YOU
🤗HUGS🤗
And here comes a big thank you from Sweden! Really enjoy your videos!
Nice tent. Enjoy your relaxed, calm voice describing the adventure.
Why watch a video if you’re not gonna watch till the end I was very interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a video like this one. I enjoyed it.
Awesome. I'm glad you liked it. Jay
I watched to the end and I'm impressed with that insulating pad. I loved hearing the crunch of the cold snow too. Loved all the outside photos as well. Thanks for taking us along on your winter camping trip. ❄
its just asmr to me id love to have this winter snow stuff forever
Thank you!!! It was so nice to see you!!!
I love the way the lights pick up the sparkles in the snow...
I made it to the end and loved every single second. Look forward to watching the next one. Stay safe and keep smiling.
I watched it to the end. I like to look at different types of tent videos. I’ll never be in a snowy place; I’m in Phoenix Arizona. I don’t have friends who really go to cold snowy airlines. The first good friend who invites me to a snowy camp/tent, I’ll go. 😊
Well I have to say it was very relaxing to watch your video. Yes I watched it all the way to the end and I loved it.
Happy New Year and thanks for being awesome! 👍😎🤘
What I like to watch was he is talking to the viewer.thats the part I was intertwining of. ThanKS for interacting with the viewer
Thank you for using flooring, very cozy!
Man that is insane amounts of snow! Absolutely beautiful and gorgeous video
thats my boy freedom he is gone now but like you he loved the snow and the cold
I always watch to the end. Very much enjoy your channel, you have a great couple of spots there. Have fun.. Steve
I made it til the END!!! Very relaxing!!!
