I feel very lucky to have come across your channel as your teaching style makes me happy and I smile warmly. Lastly, I love your Sentiment of "being nice to someone today"🐎 signed: Swedish woman living outside Vancouver, Canada.
I don't have a cricut. Yet. Your videos make me realize I "need" one. Okay, perhaps it's more of a want, but... After watching many of tutorials, I am beginning to see how I could find a new level of happiness in my paper crafting!
Thank you for watching! It's so great to get recognition from other crafters! Especially Jennifer - it is a real honour - thanks so much for mentioning, was a great comment to wake up to this morning
Didn't have any kraft board but the back of an old(heavy duty) calender worked! Also I used medium cardstock and just debossed it twice and got the same look
If you have an Explore series, I heard you can use the scoring stylus to do embossing and debossing, using the same method, since you can't use the deboss tool. It would be awesome to see a video on that.
This is amazing! Wow, thank you! I don’t make a lot of cards because I want to focus more on the scrapbooking or mixed media and so I want larger embossing folders (and dies) so this is awesome! I will definitely follow you on Cricut access. 💕🇨🇦
Thank you for the great Video! Was a little tricky at first, Was getting a little discouraged but took a little break then, I watched again and then it clicked lol. But I love the way it looks thank you again!
Thanks for all the wonderful information. I was wondering if you could actually run it through a second time if you did not get the desired effect? Similar to cutting vinyl a second time.
Yes you can! Make sure to not unload the mat before running it through again. But if you use cardstock instead of Kraft board you might never get great results
Hi! Thank you so much for making these videos on embossing. You are such a blessing. I am DIY-ing my wedding invitations bc the wedding industry is a scam and fell in love with gorgeous invitations that would cost me $5,000USD! I got a cricut for Christmas and have been a DIY fiend ever since. Is there a way to do a full page emboss for a Cricut Explore Air 2?
I bought the Cricut Maker and it works great. When they brought out the Maker 3, the price for the original Maker dropped significantly. As far as I could figure, the only difference was that you could use vinyl on the roll with the Maker 3. That wasn’t important to me, so I saved a lot of money.
You unfortunately cannot use this method with the Explore machines. Check out this vid to see what you can do: th-cam.com/video/no0EetxSUe8/w-d-xo.html
Love the steam punk cogs!!! Thanks again for an amazing video! And for also sharing your mistakes! Let's us plebs noknow we're not the only dof ones hahaha
Hi Kelly, thanks fora great video. i am new to cricut as just bought the Maker3 and wanted to make cookie debossers and or embossers. Would the above process be able to cope with a 2mm lamiate sheet or if not could you recommend a material that would be rigid enough to be able to stamp images into fondant/cookie/biscuit dough. Thanks so much and apologies for contacting you 9 months after video but only just found your channel
Hi there! I seriously doubt it would be able to deboss 2mm laminate, I have never tried, these are done in a vacuum laminating machine - Im almost 100% positive this cannot be done on a Cricut. I honestly dont work much with cooking items or materials, so I dont know what you would be able to use that would also be food safe unfortunately. You might try 3D printing a stamp - that has worked for me in the past. No worries - I try respond to as many comments as I can, regardless of when the video was posted!
I really love your tutorials! I bought cricut machine actually for embossing purposes after watching your work :D But I am still struggeling to get it with handwriting style fonts. (I 've edited the text outlines and made it to 1 path in AI - I think that should be fine.) Have you ever experimented with that? Your expertise and support would be much appreciated!! Thank you so much for the effort you put in these videos for us. :)
Ah thank you so much! yes, the much thinner things are very difficult to do, I would probably suggest doing the opposite of this method to get a very thin font style to work, but then it becomes tricky to stick the paper down to the mat 😅 Ill play around with it a bit and see what would work for that. For sentiments it might work well if you can do them small enough, but not a full page
Yes,indeed, I would need just some words eg. for invitations,so not full page design. I will try the opposite:) And I am looking forward if you can come up with some tips and tricks🤓 thanks a lot for your reply:)
Great tutorial! I noticed you switched the green standard matt with the pink fabric matt. Did the green standard matt work or was it difficult to remove the paper from it once done? I find the light blue matt light grip works great with card stock paper.
I use the Green mat very often! In this particular case I had pre-cut the Kraft board on the pink mat before filming because it took so long, and I didnt want to have to break up the filming :) I should probably stick to the same mat colour next time ;) But I prefer using my green mat when it comes to debossing just for the extra grip I need on the mats :)
@@KellyRossouw That makes perfect sense! When I first used the green mat for cutting card stock I couldn't peel the paper off without ripping it. I might have pressed down on the paper too hard (I'm a newbie at this).
Hi Brenda! Embossing and debossing are practically the same thing, the one is facing up (embossed) and when the design is pressed down, it is debossed.
If you want a decent result like this, then yes you will have to always have a stencil. Check out my other embossing video for some comparative results too: th-cam.com/video/JIm4gR1nfbQ/w-d-xo.html
I've always heard that if you remove the mat, then reinsert it, that it won't go in exactly the same. So I'm confused how the embossing works if it's just a tiny bit off. But yours looks amazing! I may have to try this!!
That is correct, but it only really makes a difference for things like cutting vinyl and paper. When it comes to debossing the difference is negligible, and as you can see, i still get a great result! 🤩
Hi. I love you videos. I’m new owner of a cricut :). I would ask you, I want do make invitation for a big party too my kids and I want embossing with gold foil, do you thinks ist possible 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 could you help me please. Many many thanks from France 😊

Aaah amazing idea!!! You absoluetely can do this on an Explore, I made a video about it recently here: th-cam.com/video/upOp0-C8zO4/w-d-xo.html
Hi Kelly, great video. If I want the pattern to be a true deboss (as you have shown emboss) do I need to peel the cut layer differently?
Yes you do. I suggest checking this video out th-cam.com/video/JIm4gR1nfbQ/w-d-xo.html
So excited to try this,
Have fun!
This is so cool, getting tempted to get a cricut 3 just to play around with 😭

Did you mention the debossing tip you used?
There is only one debossing tip for the Cricut Maker machines and the Quick-Swap Housing :)
Great video. Love your insights. 🥰
Thanks so much!

Can you emboss and mimik antique ceiling tile type squares on metal?
You should be able to emboss some soft metals, but it is not an industrial machine, so it wont work on heavy and thick metals

I am unfortunately not sure of which retailers have stock, try PNA, Waltons or maybe even Takealot!

Hi Brenda! Embossing and debossing are practically the same thing, the one is facing up (embossed) and when the design is pressed down, it is debossed.

@@KellyRossouw Thank you! I watched it - helpful!

Hi there! Fellow Saffa here! Quick question. Can you print something...let's say an image and some text and then emboss over that print?
You should be able to, you may struggle to use a template to get a nice deep emboss like this one though
I’m trying to find the metallic paper - any thoughts or links?
Sure!
US - Amazon: amzn.to/3nsKt07
South Africa - PNA
Elsewhere - im not sure to be honest, most craft/scrapbooking shops might have
You look festive!
hehe thank you! :D Love this time of year!

Hello, this was super useful! Do you know if you could deboss with acetate to create a debossed texture that one could use with fondant?
You are most welcome! I havent tried before, but as Acetate is quite firm, I would imagine you wouldnt be able to unfortunately
So once you do this, then you attach it to a blank card?
Attach to a 29.2cm (11.5") square that is set to score yes!

I am so confused I put it to score and deboss so now it will only "pretend" to deboss?!?!!? But now it wants the second page....help please
Just make sure you have the Quick Swap housing in your machine with the debossing tip in. Also make sure both layers (score and deboss) are attached
I don't get why your mat doesn't tear your paper. I always have bits getting stuck on it, especially the strong mat
You shouldnt use the strong grip mat with paper - unless it has been used A LOT, it will damage your paper. I use the standard/fabric grip mat
Good grief now I want one..I do t need one..geez.
😅 You can also use a stylus or foil tool, i covered it here: th-cam.com/video/upOp0-C8zO4/w-d-xo.html
