  • This video examines a prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach, not one of the famous 48, but the first of the 12 Small Preludes, in C minor, BWV 999. It is simply constructed, with the same pattern in each bar, outlining one harmony. And what extraordinary harmonies they are!

    Sorry, this is way too basic. Are the dominant chords from Harmonic minor, Harmonic Major, locrian natural 7 or Neapolitan minor.? Does Bach create a dominant pedal sequence by stringing together the dominant modes from multiple scales to create subtle differences in the sustained perfect cadence that is coming? This is too vague.
