LOL So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- them using their powers. They used a snake in this MV because the song is supposed to slither kind of like a snake. If you notice, the beat and rhythm of the song kind of has a creeping slithering sound and feel. They are supposed to be creeping like monsters, so the snake image and feel is supposed to fit the theme. :D However, the lyrics of the song really have very little to do with the story in the MV. "Monster" is one example where if you want to know what the song and lyrics are about you really need to watch an English lyric video. (Which I'm glad you did. Although, I am not sure you actually read the words and thought about what they were saying. You mainly listened to the melody and beat of the song. :D) Because the lyrics in the song tell a different story than the story in the MV. Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or the live performances really pay attention to the choreography so you can find the parts where they use their powers. For example: when D.O. makes a gesture with his arms all the members are pulled toward him or pushed away from him because he is using his power of force/strength; when Xiumin moves across in front of the rest of the members you will see them all pause as if frozen because he used his power of frost/ice; and when Sehun stands in the middle of the group the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm because Sehun controls wind, etc. This is one of the best examples of how EXO continues their concept and story in everything they do, including in their choreography. Everything, down to the most minute detail, is expertly thought out and planned to always stick to their concept and story. Also if you notice, at the end of the MV when they are saying "Creepin', Creepin' Creeping ..." the dance move they are doing is the signature dance move the creep from the 1990s American girl group TLC from their song "Creep." And you should also make note that their next MV for their song "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster" so when/if you watch "Lotto", just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after the events in "Lotto", and both MVs might make a little more sense to you then. I'm not positive how "Monster" and "Lotto" tie in to EXOs larger storyline. But I do know, and am almost positive, that "Lotto" is the prequel to "Monster." So if you pay attention I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are maybe sort of undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys (maybe members of the Red Force.) "Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Forces or the bad guys, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So that's why you see in "Lotto" and continued in "Monster" the members are fighting against the FBI or police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. For some reason the members of EXO don't want to be discovered so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. But in the end, as you see in "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape before they are taken to jail and/or are captured by the Red Forces, etc. As you can see all of the stories in EXO's MVs are connected. All of EXO's MVs and storylines from everything EXO has ever been involved in are connected, including EXO-CBX and EXO-SC MVs and many of the members' solo MVs, and now even SuperM MVs, etc., and it all tells a little more of EXO's story. I'm not even sugar coating it. SM might suck at promoting their artists (especially girl groups) but they really trained them well.

You are actually really close in the MV analysis. The thing about Exo MVs is its actually more often nothing to do with the song itself but actually about an continuous storyline which started from Exo's Mama where they are guardians with superpowers protecting the Tree of Life from an evil known as the Red Force. Even up till the most recent MV Obsession this storyline is continuing which makes Exo so unique in the sense where their MVs when seen in the right order is basically onr continuous movie.
