Their live performances are better than their mv, their concert won an awards for best concert, and their tickets concert is really hard to get. EXO Planet #4 - The ElyXion at Gocheok Sky Dome sold out (66000 tickets) in 0.2 seconds. Beating EXO own previous record of 0.4 seconds (67,040 tickets) from their second tour and being the fastest sold out tour in the world.

I've seen a lot of concerts/live stages of lots of groups during more than 8 years and I can definitely say EXO's concerts are one of the best in the industry for sure 👌 and I'm not even an exo-l which is very weird cause I actually enjoy almost all of the tracks they have released (including their sub units and solos) 😅
EXO has this thing that they can attract someone once you heard their songs espcecially their live performances...

El Dorado is a mythical city made of gold. The Spanish conquers started the rumor of the city, after learning of the Indian king El Dorado who, according to the legend, was covered in gold. So what you saw as part of the background in this performance was in the beginning the golden gates of the city were there and as the performance went on the gates opened to reveal the mountain and SM's depiction of what they think the city might look like. That is why EXO was all in gold outfits and I think the lights they danced around were to represent objects they had to navigate through in their search for the city. At the end when they make the X with the light sticks it's to represent the X in EXO, but it's also to represent the X you would find on a treasure map that marks where the treasure would be. In the end X marks the spot and EXO is the treasure. LOL
Explorers and Indiana Jones-type treasure hunters are always searching for the lost city of El Dorado thinking if they ever find it, it will be the key to riches and gold.
Legends have it that its a magical Utopian city that can only be found by those who it wants to find it, and some stories say it could have something to do with aliens or otherworldly beings. That's why this song works so well for EXO because EXO's origin story is that they are aliens from Planet EXO who came to Earth with superpowers in order to protect the mythical Tree of Life. That's why in this song some of the English lines are "got to go, go, go ... got to sail, sail sail, .. got to find, find, find ... El Dorado," etc.
There have been several fictional movies made about the search for El Dorado and there even have been TV programs and documentaries, etc. about real life explorers who have searched for the city thinking they can prove it was a real place and, at least in part, the stories could be true.
EXO's "EL Dorado" performance is also what has been said, inspired Disney to ask SM and EXO to produce the song and MV for "Lightsaber."
@@danielaeaaa Just because they are Hispanic doesn't mean they made the connection to the fact that they are using a Spanish reference in a Kpop song. And it definitely doesn't mean they know the story or context behind El Dorado. Plus, I am not just commenting for them to read, this comment is meant for anyone who reads it, and it might help to explain or educate someone else who might not know a lot about EXO and/or might not know the Spanish story. It doesn't hurt to explain things.

That's not too surprising actually cuz.. ancient iNDiA indeed was very rich & was regarded as a _'Land of The Gods', 'Centre of The Cosmos Axis', 'Golden Bird' etc.._ by Romans, Chinese and great Portuguese explorers like _Vasco De Gama_ and such but all those are myths for the successors of the very people who witnessed 'El Dorado' 😆.

SM is actually notorious for abandoning their old groups after debuting a new one. It happened with SuJu, it happened with shinee, it happened with f(x) and now it's happening with EXO.
Even after that EXO still remains SM's biggest money maker.

I think one thing a lot of western fans fail to understand about EXO and how they are promoted is that it's not necessarily that SM Entertainment doesn't promote EXO well, its just that because of EXO's concept and the fact that their storylne is supposed to be so mysterious and everything that EXO is involved in has to connect back to their story, it just makes it difficult for the members to do anything outside of that concept. I feel like a lot of fans outside of Asian countries feel like EXO's promotions aren't a priority for SM because we never get to see them participating in the same type of promotional activities in the same way we do with most other Kpop groups. But if you understood why SM does the things they do and what Lee SooMan (the founder of SM Entertainment) intended for EXO when he created their concept, than you might understand better why EXO are promoted in the way that they are.
But, even without a lot of promotions, EXO are still the biggest money makers for SM Entertainment making millions every time they do anything. Baekhyun's and Lay's solo projects alone helped to make EXO one of the top earning kpop groups in the industry last year and that was even with minimal promotional activities. So, at this point, why put a lot of effort into doing promotions and spending money on promotional activities when EXO seems to sell themselves. After 7 years in the industry, it's only natural that a company will start to pay less attention to their older groups. EXO has a well established fandom and have a steady profitability with minimal effort on SM's part, so the company chooses to put its time and energy into their newer groups, such as NCT who still have room to be shaped and molded into another SM powerhouse.
However, I don't think we will ever see EXO promoted heavily in the U.S. the way we have seen with other Kpop groups because of the way their concept is structured, etc. EXO is already big in the U.S., despite their lack of promotions. However, we don't see EXO promoted a lot in the U.S. because of the way that SM has chose to promote the group. But they have done major sold out concerts in the U.S. and they have a massive fan base in the west as well. They are Korea's official national group and that is why they were the only Kpop group to perform at the closing of the Winter Olympics in 2018. If that's not world exposure, then I don't know what is. :D EXO is an Asian based group so SM primarily promotes EXO in Asian countries such as Korea, China and Japan. So, unfortunately, I don't think we will see them with the same presence in the U.S. as we do, for example, BTS and NCT.
It is less likely that we will see EXO as a group be promoted as heavily in the west or do collaborations with a western artist because. EXO is meant to be an Asian-based group. Now, as solo projects, we might be more likely to see a few of the members do collaborations with western artists. For example, Lay released his Second English album for the American market and he has done a few collaborations with western artists, such as Jason Derulo and his brother group NCT with the song "Let's Shut Up And Dance." or his song "Lovebird" with Far East Movement. But as a group, EXO has to stick so closely to their storyline and concept that it makes it more difficult for them to do collaborations with anyone, let alone western artists.
It's not that SM Entertainment doesn't promote EXO well, or that they ignore them, it's just that they don't comeback on a regular schedule because their concept of them being aliens from Plant EXO is supposed to be mysterious and every one of their comebacks is timed to coincide with real life celestial events and planetary phenomenons. For example, when they had their War album and Power album comebacks it all had to do with when we had a solar eclipse, etc. SM has all of EXO's concepts, stories, comebacks and, even, many of their songs planned out for years in advance and none of it is spontaneous -- it all happens on a specific date and time and it is all for a very planned out reason. Which doesn't leave the group or the members a whole lot of room to do anything outside of that plan because, as I said before, everything they do is supposed to be tied to their story. Plus, EXO is meant to be an Asian centered group that is why they started out as EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) and why they primarily promote in Asian countries.
EXO has had offers from the Billboard Music Awards just like BTS, and many American companies and entertainment industries want to work with EXO, including do collaborations with them with other artists, but SM has turned them all down unless it is tied to the Asian market and can somehow be tied in with their storyline.
That is one of the reason why EXO was able to collaborate as part of SuperM and work with Capitol Records in the U.S. because SM created a way to tie the group's concept and storyline into EXO's larger storyline.
I have heard from many Asian EXO fans that their feelings about the way EXO is promoted is a little different than many western fans, because they see EXO promoted a lot more in many different ways in their countries. If you talk to some of the Asian EXO-Ls you will see that EXO can be seen and heard all over the place in their counties. And EXO are spokesmodels for a lot of products and their faces and commercials can be seen all over the place on TV, radio and even shopping in the grocery store, etc. EXO also spends a lot more time holding concerts, fan sign events and activities in Asian countries, as well. If you really follow the members of EXO, you will see that they are super busy all over the world, its just that because we live in the west, we unfortunately don't get the opportunity to see them as often. (They definitely aren't just sitting around waiting for their next comeback. :D)
SM created EXO to be a Korean and Chinese based group. EXO's sub-unit, EXO-CBX, covers the Korean and Japanese market. Other SM Entertainment groups such as TVXQ and SHINee are geared toward the Korean and Japanese market; Super Junior was created for the Korean and Chinese market, but have recently moved toward the South American/Spanish market; WayV covers the Chinese market now; and I think SM is working to make NCT -- and right now specifically NCT 127 -- its next group to conquer the U.S. and the English speaking markets. Each group fills a role in SM's quest to conquer the world, and unfortunately, from day one it looks as though SM didn't plan to make EXO's western promotions a priority. And pretty much everything EXO does has been planned out since the very beginning, even before they debuted, so it doesn't matter how popular EXO has become in the west, that was never part of Lee SooMan's plan when he came up with EXO's concept, so it has never been a focus of their promotions. All of EXO's comeback's and promotional activity have to do with EXO's storyline, We will have to wait and see whether this might change some now that SuperM has been created, but my guess is it already has been all planned out by SM.
i'm not necessarily saying we should be happy about it, I'm just trying to explain why EXO is different. It says something about EXO's popularity that they don't even need promotions to be SM's top sellers with the most CD and streaming music sales in record time, the largest view counts on their videos in the shortest time and the record holders of the fastest sold out concerts, etc. -- and it's all done with, what many feel is, the least amount of promotions.
@@milindawilson9175 Just because a well established group does not need promotions to perform well at a point doesn't mean the company will literally not promote. It reflects badly on them. There are a lot of ways to promote and grow EXO even without harming their mysterious image/EXO planet storyline. It would just require effort that SM aren't willing to put.
It isn't even about promotions it's about the smaller budget they get now, the very less creative freedom, no legit tours, sabotaging their album sales. Ofcourse korean fans do not think the same Korea is legit the only country EXO is active in. It just doesn't make sense to not give them more international exposure specially if that exposure is almost guaranteed to pay off.
I get what you are trying to say that EXO were never meant to explore the markets they don't explore but change happens all the time. EXO has a large fanbase outside of Korea, Japan, China so starving those fans just because they have a 'concept' doesn't make sense. Even if they didn't prepare for it the storylines can change and evolve. That's how businesses work. You have to make changes every few years. No brand can remain standing if they continue doing what they do without evolving and adapting.
And like I said SM's track record says it all. SuJu, Shinee, f(x) all have mysterious concepts that cannot be tweaked to give them the exposure their brand demands? Idts.

Best performance live ever in kpop 👑👑👑👑👑
EXO have D.O. and Xiumin now enlisted in the military for their almost 2-year (16 months to be exact) mandatory military services. The rest of the group as well will soon enter the military one by one, that is why they are not as active as of now as a group. I am a former ARMY that started to stan EXO because of actor Doh Kyungsoo / D.O.. But I have to be honest and say that EXO is a beast on stage with vocals which for me is arguably the best or is one of the best in KPOP. They are also great in dancing, great in rapping, with great visuals. EXO is a group that is oozing with talents and good looks. For me, they are still the best boy group that SM has ever produce even up until now. Each member having a stable individual and well acknowledge careers despite the fact that they are still in the group. That is how talented they are...which is also the reason why I became a fan. Talent is talent! Nothing beats that! No wonder they became very famous and still is very famous to be considered one of the most famous groups in KPOP.

i think the 'golden era' is during their EXO'rdium concert tour in 2016-2017. but i feel like they have consistently kept a high standard of performance no matter the budget of the concert because they can be sitting down and singing acoustic and it'd be a bomb AF performance. EXO are top notch performers.
Latest was Exploration. However, they were only 6 members but still great. I watched it live here in Japan. What I like about them? Is their flexibility. Everyone has their role to play, so in case a member or members couldn’t participate. They can still do the whole show and cover some of the missing parts. It was kinda sad that 2, well, 3 weren’t there but they still did a great job. Kudos to all the staff and the members.

It’s why el dorado is rarely performed! The performance director said they need a certain venue to stay true to its epicness. Plus the song’s message is amazing on its own and for EXO and EXO-Ls. I wanted them to do this for the Olympics since it suits the theme better than Growl, but I got why the did Growl since it’s their representative song in Korea. The other version is my fave version but I like the video you used since it has the lyrics.

Hi, former elementary school teacher here. When teaching about Spanish exploration of the “New World” one of the interesting lessons had to do with the Conquistadors searching for an Aztec City of Gold. There are differing opinion on where in Central America it was supposedly located and also why it was believed to be made of gold. There’s even a theory that a neighboring city state told the conquistadors that their greatest enemies lived in a city of gold and rather than claim their land for Spain to attack the other city state. Long story short it really wasn’t a city of gold, but they were rich and did have gold. So they kidnap the Aztec king and as ransom asked for the king’s weight in gold to set him free. After the ransom was delivered the king was killed. Sorry no cartels involved just one ruler figuring out a fairly easy way to take out his people’s biggest threat.

Yeah you are right, SM investing too much on exo's junior but they dont received well from public. At that time SM was focused on exo but now they throw exo because if they still push exo or promote them well or give exo "good era" it will be hard for "the junior" to surpass exo and this is not good for the company. Cause yeah, they need regeneration when exo isnt productive again like now they on the ages to go military. And SM need the next active main group that can give them a lot of money. Suho told us that SM recently said to exo that they do "minimalism" but it turn out SM just doing it just to exo.

Exo is definitely 2nd gen legends but the kings of Kpop is still BigBang and you guys should react to their songs as a group, duet and solo mv’s. Their MV’s are great but their live performances are what makes them the legends and puts them on another level. Some of the ones you need to check out are Bang Bang Bang, Fxxk It, Bae Bae, Loser, Fantastic Baby. For a duo performances GD & TaeYang - Good Boy but also check out and look for the English sub version of their live performance from MAMA 2014 where they diss the award show and then are invited back to the MAMA 2015 award show for live performance of Loser, Bae Bae and Bang Bang Bang. They are different and have their own style and swag.
