    The competition between the companies led to the release of three different, mutually incompatible VCR formats: Sony's Betamax in 1975, JVC's VHS in 1976, and the Philips V2000 in 1978. Two of these would come head-to-head in the 1980s in what became known as the first Format War. Videos did exist in 1983. lol other than that great video!

    It's a wonder of nature. Unpredictable most of the time, yes. But it creates the most beautiful and fertile places on the planet. It causes deaths, unfortunately, but precisely because we look for these places to live. What would we be without them and the minerals they bring to the Earth's surface. With all due respect to the victims, I love them!❤

    16:43 "Krakatoa is responsible for the largest volcanic eruption in recorded human history"
    Wrong. That would be Tambora, whose eruption in 1815 was on the order of 10 times larger than the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa, and caused 1816 to be "the year without a summer" in Europe and North America.

      @@MegaRazorback A single island being blown away pales in comparison to all the crop failures across the entire northern hemisphere and all the additional deaths across the globe thousands of miles away from the source. Maybe 20,000 people died from Krakatoa, and probably closer to a million died from Tambora.

    Yes sir the Philippines along with Indonesia have been the home of the most powerful volcanoes. These are Island Arc volcanoes ( strata) located near subduction zones. Their eruption like all is totally dependent on the viscosity of magma and amount of gas in it.

    Correction Ambrym has 2 lava lakes
    One in Myram Crater and one in Benbow Crater which are both buried after a fissure eruption drained the lakes and caused the craters to be collapse

  • @hebneh
    @hebneh ปีที่แล้ว

    4:46 - Correction. The lava flow did NOT "inch its way towards" the Leilani Estates subdivision; this eruption actually occurred through cracks that appeared IN the subdivision. So lava came up out of the ground among houses and gardens and roads, and of course wiped them out.

    Actually Mount Tambora 1815 Explosion had a VEI of 7.3 Krakatoa in 1883 had an VEI of 6.8. In the 20th century, Santa Maria (1902AD VEI 6.2) Novarupta (1912AD VEI 6.7) and Mount Pinatubo (1991AD VEI 6.5) are the largest Volcanic Eruptions since 1800AD.

      Hey I just did a project in that

    • @jayt9608
      @jayt9608 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but Tambora did not actually produce much lava flow as it amounted to a gaseous belch that expelled all of the gas and rock from inside the mountain with the resultant shell collapsing into the resultant void which eliminated the volcano from existence. This was similar to the way in which Mount St. Helen's blew off the top thousand or so feet from its peak in 1980.

      I’m not a scientist, but I live on Big Island of Hawaii where we only have brief respites from our volcano erupting one place or another. Here there are always gases being released when there is an eruption, whether small or large. Even when there is no lava, there are vents which emit steam and/or sulfurous gases. Sometimes the gases are very minimal, nearly undetectable. Other times, there are huge amounts which combine with water vapor or rain and create problems even for plants, what to speak of people and animals.
      When the volcano erupts we have daily air quality reports, as the trade winds can blow the gases far from the volcano, even all the way up the island chain to Honolulu and beyond.
      The gases are the most negative side of living near a volcano in my opinion. It is relatively easy to build homes and other structures in areas unlikely to be in the path of an eruption. But the gases can potentially make breathing difficult for almost anyone anywhere, depending on the wind.

      You wouldn't even live long
      Enough to enjoy because
      You would be burned to a
      Crisp, just from the radiant
      Heat and poisonous gases

    well, i enjoyed your video guys & i do appreciate it. But the information you stated about "erta'ale" volcanic lake residing in AFAAR, ETHIOPIA & is not true. As it is known, ethiopian peoples are the most welcoming people.
    As to the harshness of ERTA'ALE's environment , indeed it is harsh but its harshness is one of its beauty & also it is challenging for whom looking for an adventure.
    so Dear friend, i strongly suggest that you re-consider your words pls.
    am thankfull for your consideration . Tnx for.reading

    Forgive the query, as I don't know your selection criteria, but I'm a little surprised that Montserrat didn't make your list?
