  • We always get so many questions about liposuction and the recovery. A large part of this is compression garments. Oftentimes, this is such a big question that is may even influence when you get your surgery done. Dr. Amalfi and Dr. Smita break it all down for you.

    Lipo foams help to keep lines and folds from forming in the skin, faja burns... foams also keep the skin smooth. If they sweat with it on the cleaning with antibacterial soap and water is the key.

      I know you say don’t put on compression garment too tight but about the on after surgery by the Dr….. it’s tight will that leave creases in the skin or is it ok until my first week checkup.

    Wowww so glad I saw this because I'm already a little over 2 mos. and am now in my stage 2 faja now and am compressing the living crap out of myself and it's miserabllleeeee. I can't breathe or eat in my faja, and putting it on is more like a 2-person job, with just myself, it takes about 15-20 minutes to get on, and by the end I feel like I'm going to give myself arthritis! I definitely was one of those that believed in the myth of the "more compression" the "more snatched."

    One thing that too much compression can cause especially if it is too tight, is BACK PAIN! While you’re wearing compression you have support so you’re not using your core as much. I ended up in physical therapy because of the back pain.

    Why I hate it is because it's 95 degrees outside and when I have to be out in it for 4-5 hours, I feel like I'm going to pass out or become a heat casualty due to my skin not being able to breath. And why does compression have to go down to my knees and up over my shoulders? I got some ab suction so why do I have to compress 80% of my body??? I've wore wrestling singlettes that are smaller. And every time you have to use the restroom (#2), you break a sweat just getting it on and off. And sleeping is just the worst. I wake up in the middle of the night with pain from my groin skin, pain from my shoulder skin, and pain from my under arm skin. And you want me to wear it for SIX MONTHS?!?! There has to be a better garmet.

    Spanx sells a few compression garments in petite sizes. This helps reduce creasing in my opinion. I'm only 5'1" and most fajas are too long.

    My garment would always fold over itself at the bottom when I sat and I ended up developing ugly disgusting dents/divots in my abdominal wall. I am going in for revision soon. Is it necessary for me to wear the compression garment at all? I know it helps swelling, but is there any evidence it affects the final result?

      I definitely would and I’d add lipo foam. Men traditionally have a hard time following through 😅, we get pretty stubborn. It’s well worth the garment + foam combo and to stay vigilant. I take a 15 min break from my garment once a day in the morning with my coffee, take my shower, but otherwise I’m in my garment 22-23 hours a day. I normally will keep the foam in 360 until the evening where I’ll drop down to 1 lipo foam over my abdomen. I also remove the lipo foam when I hit the gym, but I will wear my compression garment pretty snug during gym workouts and I leave it on for about an hour after the workout to reduce fluid or swelling before hitting the shower. Garment and foam goes back on right away after showering and my workout. Watch your salt intake as well for that first 6-weeks post op. Low sodium will help reduce the likelihood of swelling as well. Also, if you take creatine or protein supplements, I’d stop at least 4-weeks pre-op, and 4-weeks post-op. If you are going to take creatine I’d stick with HCL. Creatine monohydrate wreaks havoc with water retention, were HCL does not. Hope this helps!

    • @lipsticklipo6493
      @lipsticklipo6493  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What I typically see in my patients is that they are feeling a lot better around that time. And they are much more active which makes more fluid and makes you swollen. So once you get back to a busy lifestyle, the compression can be helpful. Some people wear it in the day, or some people come home and put it on at night after a busy day. I think it’s really normal and will continue to improve with time.
