    Hey Dr. William, I love watching your videos! I’ve been watching for 2 and a half years. I was so confident planning my surgery, but I see those reviews about the staff, not from one person, but a lot of people saying they treat others badly, and make them uncomfortable. They also only see you the day of the surgery. It scares me because I want to see you way before the surgery. Make sure you talk to their staff because you’re a very famous doctor, and you don’t want to lose all your fame because of these people.

      Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately I don't run the practice so I don't have a lot of control in this regard, but I can say the people I work with in the clinic are caring and treat patients well. I am always happy to see patients anytime before their surgery; sometimes several months in advance of their surgery which is really ideal.

    I appreciate your video so much. I'm 6 weeks out from open bilateral inguinal hernia repair. I've seen 3 different doctors for my post op care. None of those doctors could tell me anything about how to care for my two incisions. It's amazing that I found your video. Now I feel more at ease with my lumpy incisions. And I just now started to massage the incisions. The surgical glue was on for nearly 4 weeks. So at 6 weeks, my incisions look good enough to massage them. I'm also using vitamin E oil at night, then Alcone (aloe and Lidocaine) gel during the day. So thankful for your awesome advice 👍

    Excellent video Dr William! Very informative and interesting. Thank you very much! I had an open inguinal hernia surgery with mesh 4 months ago and I had a terrible recovery with a lot of pain and possible tendon damage. The extended surgery time coincided with a planned move to another state and it has been terrible for me. I had to move a 3 bedroom house from Fl to TX practically by myself. Driving for almost 18 hours and after that, cleaning, fixing up and remodeling the new house. I haven't stopped working and being on the go for almost 2 months. I had to go to a pain management clinic to get a cortisone shot 6 weeks after surgery. Currently I still have pain, tightness and sharp twinges in my groin area. But one thing I noticed 2 days ago, is that my scar still remains pink and dark in small areas. And it feels raised and bumpy by a length of about 3/4 of an inch. A little bump about 1/8 or 3/16 of an inch high. A little sore sometimes. I am still in the process of getting new insurance and adjusting to my new life in another state. I have only been here for 15 days and the truth is that this little bump on my scar has me a little nervous.

  • @isntthataj

    Silicone scar tape helped me a lot. I've applied it since I was able to and I've had women tell me my scar looks good because it's not lumpy/bumpy! If I stop using it for a couple weeks, I notice my scar will get lumpy/bumpy. If I start using my scar gel and tape again, it flattens back out. It's been 10 months. I have mostly flat scar with hyperpigmentation but I'm sure it'll slowly fade away. I plan on getting tattoos around it.

    Dr. William… I wish I had found you before my tummy tuck 2 weeks ago. Umbilicus looks like I have hemorrhoids in it. The nurse said don’t worry you will start marble therapy. I saw your video and you DO NOT DO THAT. Will this bulging go down on its own or that’s what I am stuck with? Also your education on cosmetic surgery is fantastic! Thank you! ❤

      I can't answer you directly as I would need to see you but I can say that with my patients it is not uncommon to have some protrusion of the belly button early on from swelling and internal fat pressure but that it usually resolves as the swelling goes down and with loss of the internal fat. I personally don't think a marble is ever a good idea.

    May I ask something?
    Just finished my eppendectomy back in a week ago. Got the bumpy and lumpy. But it's very hard. Already back to my surgery doctor and they took out the pus on the wound. But the bumpy and lumpy didn't go away. Is it a sign of incisional hernia? 🙏🏻

      Usually those lumps will disappear over the first year with good scar massage. It is normal for them to start out lumpy but they usually do smooth out with good, consistent scar massage.

    I have had an appendix surgery and it caused an infection i had a second surgery now my wound is healing and there is fluid coming out every time i do a wound care now it's hard when i touch the surrounding of the wound is it normal?

    • @DrWilliamMiami
      @DrWilliamMiami  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't answer in your case specifically as you would have to see your surgeon. What I have seen in my experience is that in general it is common for appendectomy incisions to become infected, and then when they do they have to be left open to heal by secondary intention as we call it (basically they heal on their own).
      It is common for wounds that are healing this way to be weepy of lymphatic fluid and have the surrounding areas indurated (hard and firm) with inflammation that softens over months as the wound heals.

    I had open inguinal hernia surgery on my right side about six weeks ago. I still have like an "L" shape firm lump along the length of the incision - basing out (forming the L) at the lowest point. Is this still considered normal and part of the healing ridge? How long typically does this lump remain until it flatens out - consistent with the opposite side? I wish physicians would articulate what you just said in the video to ease concerns.

      2 weeks after taking the bandages off I saw it was just a bit bumpy. Thinking this may be temporary and normal after a surgery I let it of but after a while it wasn't going away. So I went to the doctor that did my surgery and asked him about it . He explained to me that the way he did the surgery was he tied the source were the cyst comes like a water ball. I don't know how he tied or if this is how it's done I don't now but it appears he connected it to my hand skin. Dissatisfied with what I heard I went to another doctor whom I was told is very good. He told me to x ray my hand. After he took a look it showed no cyst there it just looked normal. He then told me the bones may bumb together as a result of surgery or something like that don't really know or understand how. Now what do you think I should do doctor? What's ur suggestion. I just feel a little pain while my hand is active it's not crazy pain but it's there and it's constant. I would really appreciate a response doctor.
