The best thing about it was all the marriage jokes Ellen McLain made, but still keeping it in the idea of it just being how the character of GLaDos is, making it seem almost as true as the game itself.
Every once in awhile if I'm feeling a little bit down, I come back here and read the comments and it cheers me right up again. I love all of you guys, thank you so much for watching my proposal and taking the time to comment.
Gary, I might just be a foolish teenager, but this is the best proposal I have ever seen. I saw this video years back when I realized I could make my zombie survival map a reality in Left 4 Dead 2, and this proposal has inspired me since. I wish you the best man, and i’m sure i’m not the only one that you inspired with the project. Just know you made the day of many people, not just your wife and inspired many more.
i love how the whole first room is a symbol of unity. the whole two imperfect what looked like unfinished rooms coming together to make one complete room was awesome foreshadowing
It took me a while to catch that those weren't just lines from the game GLaDOS was repeating. The map was really well done and the scripting was ingenious (all those wordplays).
Very, very sweet! the light bridge over the heart made out of the laser cubes made me all gooey inside. The care put into this with all the different elements was clearly evident. Loved this.
Skype sound. Pausing the video. Checking Skype. Going back to the video. Go back a few seconds. listen. Skype sound. Looking into the comments: 3. Comment "Damn Skype sounds." Yes, damn sounds! xD
Thank you Gary Hudston and those that worked on this project, as an indie studio owner, and lead programmer for another studio, I now know EXACTLY what I will do when I meet someone that I love enough to want to marry them. I only hope it can be as well done and touching as this was. I really wish there was a reaction video for this.... I want to see her say yes damn you!
Wow! Congratulations to the happy couple and congratulations to the wonderful work in putting this together! It's also very awesome that Valve provided the sound and voice work. Things like this make me love the game even more.
I saw this a couple weeks ago and thought it was brilliant - only to be absentmindedly glance up at the TV only mere minutes ago to see it playing there. Many congratulations, man, I never would have thought you'd see that kind of success with this! :D
Oh my god. I cried at the end. Like, I really did. God, I can only imagine the sheer awe and exhilaration Stephanie felt because, hell, I felt it and my boyfriend didn't even design it for me! God, she is one lucky girl.
The voice was funny, I love how it said "blissful." This was a very original proposal. The side-effects of the emotional testing were so funny! Lucky for me I don't have knees... because I'm a snail. XD *snail blushes * Do you know what music was playing at 6:56? I've been trying to find that for a while!
I loved this. I teared with a squeal when it got to the chapel, even though I already knew what was coming. I love it when people use something that interests them and is interactive for proposals. Whether it's a treasure hunt on the beach, a skywriter, a video game, a song sung by the band at a concert or a hijacked question and answer session at a convention, it's all the same. We try to ask the one we love to spend the rest of our lives together.
So this was something you made and Miss Stabby did GladOS's voice? Wow, really good job! So cute! And I couldn't tell that it wasn't GladOS's actual voice actor doing the lines, nice job!
Aww, so sweet! And it was amazing job with the level development too. Those were great puzzles and wouldn't mind playin' 'em myself. So uber sweet though. I wouldda cried.
This is the most beautiful damn thing ever. I mean it; how many guys go to such lengths just to propose to the woman they love? Not many, and I admire the thoughtful men who do. Bravo, both to those who built the level, and to the one who came up with the idea.
"You can say no. He'll get over it. Eventually." GLaDOS is amazing ♥
I just love how GLaDOS is still GLaDOS
The best thing about it was all the marriage jokes Ellen McLain made, but still keeping it in the idea of it just being how the character of GLaDos is, making it seem almost as true as the game itself.
She did the voice for it though
Every once in awhile if I'm feeling a little bit down, I come back here and read the comments and it cheers me right up again. I love all of you guys, thank you so much for watching my proposal and taking the time to comment.

You are my hero. I wish I could do this for my boyfriend to match the ring I want to get him.
i got to know, did it work
"To ensure that you are fully engaged."
I just now got that.
Nothing is stronger than the love between two nerds.
What about the love between 3 nerds.....bewm
Just as strong, I suppose.
Ok prepare yourself....4 nerds in love, bewm
You're just going to keep adding more nerds, aren't you?
Wait wait wait...... 5 nerds, yea bewm
love how GLaDOS drops hints like : engagement , blushing , " trapped with someone the rest of your life " ,and stuff like that
i love how the whole first room is a symbol of unity. the whole two imperfect what looked like unfinished rooms coming together to make one complete room was awesome foreshadowing
It took me a while to catch that those weren't just lines from the game GLaDOS was repeating. The map was really well done and the scripting was ingenious (all those wordplays).
I think the cube one was from the companion cube chamber of portal 2, but that's not a problem
Wow, that was beautiful! Greatest proposal EVER!
If someone proposed to me that way I would definitely say yes without hesitation. ⊙ω⊙
Too bad Wheatley isn't here to see this.
He was in space
Oh... my... gods... this is SO CUTE!!! How could anyone possibly refuse something like this~? ^_^
true,soo awesome!
if she likes COD than he's doom
kaimargonar1000 ugh she would be like uh the are other games apart from COD?
Damn Skype sounds.
so im not going insane?
+Starr610 that is neither confirmed nor denied,
This was the coolest thing to ever happen ever. Stephanies' so lucky to have him :3
Very, very sweet! the light bridge over the heart made out of the laser cubes made me all gooey inside. The care put into this with all the different elements was clearly evident. Loved this.
This is how I would want someone to propose to me.
So Adorable!
lol you wish
Jack is not in the box yes I do
you can propose to someone like this as well, you know
When they played Exile Vilify, I broke into tears, It's so sweet!
Best.Proposal.Ever.
You're right!!
"I'm sure he'll get over it.
...eventually."
GLaDOS to the last. :)
Genuinely one of my favorite projects I've ever seen. Even surpassing the passage of time itself!
I want this! So cute, had a tear in my eye at the end. This is deff a memorable and creative proposal. Shes so lucky
I would love to see her reaction to this
Skype sound. Pausing the video. Checking Skype. Going back to the video. Go back a few seconds. listen. Skype sound. Looking into the comments: 3. Comment "Damn Skype sounds." Yes, damn sounds! xD
yea 6 likes :DD but it's just true! 2:24
Damn skype sounds
Wow! How unlikely :3
How to fix: download Discord.
This was 2 years ago!

6:16 - The heart lasers thing was BRILLIANT! It just made me laugh!
I'm not gonna lie, this totally made me cry. So sweet! She is the luckiest woman in the world!
This was a triumph
that was a joke haha fat chance
I'm making a note here
@@anakinskywalker9756HUGE SUCCESS
This made me cry
These puzzles are so well-made, it's amazing.
I hope these two are still together
They are :)
This is one time I wish there was a TH-cam reaction video of Stephanie playing the level.
"I'd hate to be trapped with a person for the rest of their life, wouldn't you?"
XD
"To ensure that you are fully engaged..." I see what you did there.
Wow! Congratulations to the happy couple and congratulations to the wonderful work in putting this together! It's also very awesome that Valve provided the sound and voice work.
Things like this make me love the game even more.
That is one of the amazingest moments in self-made gaming history.Keep going man, you're a mapping genius.
Now that's just adorable. :'D
*hears Skype sounds*
Oh, I got a messa- wait... I'm not logged in. *rewinds* Okay, was just the video...
I'm confused as to what happened and why Ellen Mclain's voice is in this.
+Charles E. They asked her if she'd join this project. And she said yes... I remember this. It's been quite a while.
I just love all the vague clues given throughout the entire test. Its hilarious and awesome and heartwarming all at the same time.
That's so beautiful-wonderful even I wish them the best things in life. So sweet...
Am I the only cynical person here that thought, "Well, hes done it now. There's no way he'll ever meet her expectations after that."?
No he has definitely got his work cut out for him. Imagine the birthday partys. Or the gender reveal part- wait NONONONONONONONO!

MY BROVARIES
This is the geekiest, most romantic, geeky romantic thing I've ever seen.
that was beautiful
tears at the end, that was just so sweet and beautiful :) great job on the project
What if Stephanie couldent finish the puzzles?
Fortunately for him, she's DAMN good!
“You wouldn't want to fail. You'd break his heart"
Well actually, it is the map creator playing it.
he's showcasing it after the fact, it's not live obviously or else it wouldn't be a surprise.
1:59 Like if you checked your skype at this moment xD
dawwwwwwww, thats fucking romantic.
just great! and the voice is making it really special by sounding robotic gamelike and somehow so emotional! :)
I'm bawling my eyes out and I don't even know these people
The voice was funny, I love how it said "blissful." This was a very original proposal.
The side-effects of the emotional testing were so funny! Lucky for me I don't have knees... because I'm a snail. XD *snail blushes * Do you know what music was playing at 6:56? I've been trying to find that for a while!
Ellen McLain basically proposed for him lol
But this is so cute and romantic anyway!
I don't know that music, but the song after it is Exile Vilify.
Also, any ideas for amazing proposals you have in mind?
***** So you technically destroyed your heart? That's not as romantic as you think lol
The Vision Ooops... -_-
***** I need to get Ellen McLain to propose me too. That doesn't sound right.
Whos here because of Friendly AI

Appreciate this work! It's beautiful and gives me the chills each time. You did a wonderful job.
I almost cried watching this, so much work for a person you love.
It's still awesome all these years later.
This is by far the greatest video game proposal I have ever seen. Brilliant and beautiful! Congrats Gary and Stephy!!!
Wow. Its cool how they put subtile hits all though out the level. Nice work.
Every couple months I find myself watching this again, and I still think it is the most amazing proposal ever.
Seen this 100x. Still cry like a baby. So awesome!
The perfect proposal. The playing of Exile Vilify at the end was just such a nice touch too.
So this was something you made and Miss Stabby did GladOS's voice? Wow, really good job! So cute! And I couldn't tell that it wasn't GladOS's actual voice actor doing the lines, nice job!

This video always makes me cry.
man, this totally shows up my whole "throw the ring at her and say 'I got nuthin' better to do'" approach...
how did that go if i may ask, i’m curious
Haha, I love how many hints there are about the imminent proposal through out the levels.
@AGentertainment The hammer world editor (the same program Valve uses) is free to anyone, and the possibilities are virtually endless.
So many angles of awesome, mixed with love and video games, beautiful
I'm not ashamed to say I kinda teared up a little. Really sweet.
Awww this is what i call a truly original proposal attempt. Best of luck Gary & Steph.
@cobralover88 it wasnt the video holder's thing but it is a mod/ level design creator which signed up for gary hudston's thing to make all of that
This is quite possibly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen...
What an awesome idea! Would of been funny if she had the choice of escaping the level at the end.
@ch4pch4p Exile Villify - The National.
It was made exclusively for portal 2, and can be heard on the radio in one of the Ratman dens.
Holy hell I almost got tears in my eyes. Amazing video, best of luck to the couple!
Wow.... This is truly AWESOME!!!!
What a way to propose!
Great job on the maps! O.o
This is the best thing ever, this always make me tear up
VALVe will feature this at Steam News, you know.
You all deserve it. The map is incredibly awesome. Congratulations!
This was wonderfully awesome. Done extremely well and true to Portal.
I'm glad she said yes.
This is the most beautiful damn thing ever. I mean it; how many guys go to such lengths just to propose to the woman they love? Not many, and I admire the thoughtful men who do. Bravo, both to those who built the level, and to the one who came up with the idea.
That was EPIC!! And such a beautiful song at the end!
for being the best way to propose on a video game or something like that.
So... a good mod, that ALSO happens to be absolutely heartwarming. Awesome.
I am so blown away I can't even think of any adjectives. :)
6:35 gotta go fast to the companion cube
That was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I'm tearing up right now.
wow that was beautiful. I hope they are still together
They are :)
That map's design. Absolutely fricking AMAZING.
The fact that either you or Gary got Ellen to do some voice acting for the level is amazing.
@pacer91345 It's "The National - Exile Vilify". Part of the Portal 2 Soundtrack :)
This is the greatest thing I have ever seen! So touching!
@JZsan Exile Vilify - The National
The song was legitimatly added into a chamber for a Ratman den
Seriously excellent level design.
This is one of the greatest things.. I have ever seen... FANTASTIC!
This is the sweetest yet nerdiest way you could ever propose to a portal fan
cutest thing ever!
i super super hope that it started with 'hey, try out this cool map ive played'
Beautiful. The voice is awesome.
