I Know this is an old vid Ian. The wife and I had a walk with the dog here Sunday past. And that pool was full of fish both potted and moving I would say. It was a joy to see not seen that many fish showing in a pool for a long time.
They must have known you were coming! There's always that one chance to connect....that's what keeps us anglers interested and optimistic......but it can test the patience of a saint sometimes 😂😎👍👍
we are lucky that we have had an interest in fishing , Just imagine if we were interested in sport as youngsters we may have ended up in Japan sweating instead of fishing 😎😉 Cheers Iain 🥃
Mr Shaw is a master in his class . I have enjoyed his company on quite a few occasions on the river Tay . I used to fish at Muirtons but never meet up with Iain until I was introduced to him at Upper Scone while fishing under the guidance of Dave the Ghillie . I hope in the future to meet with Iain once this horrible disease has subsided . Happy new year and tight lines for 2022 . Stay safe. Cheers Iain 🥃
I was out yesterday evening and saw 6 salmon and never touched a thing . the camera was playing up and all I managed to record was I wee cracking grilles that jumped out of the water . Trying to cast to cover the fish is a big part of a days fishing I think that all anglers know if they are not casting over where they think that fish are will be disappointed at the end of there day out . I think that we have all been there at some stage Cheers Iain 🥃
Well done Sean .... Dont put to much pressure on yourself to catch a fish . try and enjoy your day out and relax . if you are all tensed up there is a chance that you will pull the fly out the salmons mouth like I do so often . Tight Lines Cheers Iain🥃
Great video Iain . Very difficult conditions again for you, When you caught that trout I thought to myself ok here we go fish everywhere and a bit of cloud cover but came to no avail. As you said did not see anything showing on the video and no doubt very warm and humid where you were didn’t help the situation. Great viewing Iain look forward to the next one . 🍺 Steve.
Thanks again Steve The water felt quite cool compared to the river Tweed. The Tay has had some rain higher up the system and it was perfect conditions for fishing . When you have an expert like Iain Shaw on the river not catching youknow that there are very few fish about . As you say next time and I will look forward to getting back to the river ........ Tight Lines Cheers Iain 🥃
Thanks again Stiofain we anglers are the eternal optimists and can always look back at days that we caught fish and that acts as a magnet to draw us back to the river Cheers Iain 🥃
I ain't keep up the good work I don't miss any of your visit and I have got a lot of tips from you so thanks.i got a 4 lb sea trout and a 9lb bar of silver yesterday up on the Alness river there are lots of fish in the Alness the now especially the stick pool if you are ever up this way well worth a we cast.
Hi John well done . I was up in the area about 3 years ago and had a look at your beautiful river Alness . some of the pools had me drooling even although the water was low and there were very few fish about and one day I hope to come back to have a cast . the rain at the moment will hopefully bring in more fish Tight lines Cheers Iain 🥃
Cheers Ian with this rain the last few days there are a lot of fish.iv had no more luck I'll need to get a couple of your specials lol all the best and tight lines.
Thanks Steven I wish that I could have a day just recording Iain's stories . He has had some big fish and still gets them at the back end of the season
I was on the Tweed recently, July, very warm and very little fly life showing. I remarked to the ghillie that under similar circumstances 20 years before looking from Norham bridge the hatch was amazing, every fly under the sun was hatching.
I have noticed for a few years now that fly life has diminished Richard and I believe that it has a lot to do with farming practice . Insecticides, phosphates and because there is a lot more chicken farms , the farmers have more chicken shit to spread which has a lot of disease and is poisoning our rivers . The warm weather it makes it worse Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi Nicola I dont believe that you or anyone else would get away with fishing there without a permit . Bob the gent that ran away with Iain's weight and the two other bods in the background called Dave are all ghillies and only alow anglers that pay to fish on that section of the river. There are others that work up and down the river making sure that the anglers that pay dont have anglers that dont pay fishing on the river ...... Cheers Iain 🥃
All my Running lines are mill end as cheap as possible and I think that I bought that one for £7.99 from Edinburgh angling centre and welded loops with heat shrink. I sometimes use mono running line if I w3want to cast further Thanks for mentioning that you enjoy Motueka as I do appreciate comments like yours Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi Iain, hope everything is well North of the Border, and you and Frances are in fine fettle. I am back in isolation until the 4th of August, son Phil contracted Covid, Shirley and myself had to take a test, both came back negative, shows that the Astra Zeneca vaccine is doing its job. Sorry to see you fishless again, your time will come my friend. Until the next cast Tight Lines
Hi Paul I was wondering if you were ok so checked back and found my reply had never been added I think all that you will have received will have been a thumbs up . I have noticed that some comments I have responded to have failed ....... I can only apologise . I hope all is well with yourself and family and you are still getting a large dose of grandchildren Cheers Iain. 🥃
@@IainSB hi Iain, I too have been having problems with my iPad, recently upgraded and lost all my subscriptions to TH-cam. Been wracking my Brain trying to remember who I had subscribed too, good job you sent me that message yesterday. I now have a few videos of you (hopefully) catching some Salmon. Will start catching up now. All the best Paul
Hi again Chris the Longshot pool where I started fishing always has fish showing when they are coming through so I new that it would be a fruitless day I was fishing with an old Sage 12.9 tcr and an Airflow Rage Compact line with a 10ft pollytip and of coarse an Iain Bain Special 😊 Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi again James I am a member of the Perth and District Anglers Association and that is where I get most of my fishing on the river Tay . It is the best value for money Association in the UK . I do not take full advantage of all the the days fishing that are available to me but still find it good value . They have a good web site and its worth a look Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi again Fred I have been mentioning this for years . Farmers are chucking that much chicken shit fertiliser and phosphates onto there fields that get washed into the rivers killing the invertebrates . the hatches of flies on the river Tay are nearly none existent compared to 20 years ago. Get out and bang your drum and tell the anglers about the problem . Like I have for years and just get blanked all the best Cheers Iain 🥃
@@IainSB Hi Iain, i was a lifelong salmon and wild trout angler all around the highlands our wild trout are down in numbers to the same level as our salmon, I'm 67 years old and a motorcyclist since 1973, I'm my youth my visor would be opaque with fly hits after 15 miles spring and summer, now I can drive around loch ness [ 67 miles ] with one or two small flies on my visor, Iain Gordon retired from the Spey and totally agrees with me on the real reason for there decline, although he,s up in Iceland now getting a few fish, but is it a case of the great rivers are now just passible and the just passible rivers are now virtually fishless, I'm afraid the last days of plenty are past us Iain, and thanks for the reply. Hi Brian I am a few years older than you and had a few bikes years ago but my main interest way back was modifying cars to catch flies on the windscreen . I have had some cars that went like stink and looked like sh---t at the moment I only have one oldy that I have stuck with. I modified it years ago and now runs with a none standard Cosworth engine that frightens me to death and very few of my freinds will come with me and my wife Frances only went out with me once years ago in it and never again . I may annoy some anglers and make a video of a trip to the river in it ..... I have been to the Moy show a few times and always thought about coming to the fishing festival but that may have to wait until the deadly covid subsides All the very best Cheers Iain 🥃🥃👍
Hard Lines Iain they escaped you that day. Sun and warm water doesn’t help either. I fished the tay the other morning in perfect cloud / air temp conditions and yet to see one show. Its a frustrating game getting.
We know that there are the odd fish going through as fish are getting caught at Islamouth most days . Yesterday there were 6 fish caught at Islamouth all waiting to visit Blairgowrie Cheers Iain 🥃
I think that you will have to ask Davy or bob about the rod rack Ed. as for the lunches the dogs wouldn't have stood a chance because bob had eaten everything with his lawnmower 😉 Cheers Iain 🥃
