- Like most New Yorkers -- natives, transplants, whomever -- we love bagels. We love bagels so much that we did a whole episode on them last season. But we didn't quite capture the essence of this city’s bagel identity. So we're calling for a do-over. On our season finale of Food/Groups, we take on New York City's bagels (again) and this time we're diving into the history of smoked salmon, or lox, which has become a key food item to the NYC bagel tradition.

Adam worked for me right after 911 selling ad space for the B'nai B'rith. He is one of the funniest cats I've ever encountered., master BS'er on the phone. His timing was flawless. Very few people have made me laugh as hard as Adam Richman. Happy for his success.
Adam Richman is the man. I ran into him in Baltimore in a little clothing boutique a couple years ago and he was a really nice guy. He stopped to talk to us and take pictures and everything and wasn't in any rush to get away. I know entertainers aren't obligated to, at all, but the fact that he did makes him that much cooler in my mind.

Best lunch (or anytime really) sandwich: Everything bagel, lightly toasted, cream cheese, and lox. YEAH BABY!!
Bagels Smears and lox is synonymous with NY great Delicatessens and Bagelries and it's strong immigrant heritage rich in iconic culture and amazing food when I think Bagel I immediately think NY some would arguably say Canada too but New York Bagel is an Icon

I love a bagel. I mean, I REALLY love a bagel. But nothing beats a BEC on a roll from a corner bodega. It may be the perfect breakfast sandwich.

I did think it was a new York thing but I live in avon colorado and in from Texas never saw a lox bagel on a menu till I moved here think I'll try it for my next shift meal :)

That La Bagel Delight is just down the street from me. While their bagels are nice, The Bagel Hole a bit further up on 7th ave is SO much better. Their everything bagels especially are so freaking amazing.

Lox isn't just a NYC think, even though it seems like it, lox pretty much seem to be in highly upper class cities like S.F. and or L.A. too ! But I'm pretty sure NYC is the home for it like how Seattle is the home for Starbucks/coffee !
I like bagels but living in the UK and only ever having had the pre-packaged (likely frozen/defrosted) ones, I doubt I've ever had a really good one, like a fresh out of the oven (pot?) one, but I'd like to.
