I know a farmer who brought eggs when he stayed with us, and said they don't need to go in the fridge when they are freshly laid since they have some type of film on them from the chicken. source was from a farmer from Saskatchewan.
For the record, in america you DO have to put your eggs in the fridge if you buy them from a store. We wash off an outer membrane that keeps them good without refrigeration for some reason. If you get them from a private seller you're good though.
