Vry useful😊? Whiile doinhg spray (smoke) test detector should not be isolated right?? Only engine should be stop Alarm will only come if detector is not isolated?
I really got into the wrong field... I love doing electrical troubleshooting and maintenance in general. Part of me thinks being on a ship doing it would be a good experience provided I got shore time here and there and come home on scheduled leave
Jake, which chemical spray we can use for realistic test this detectror, when we open this screw on the body of sensor? Spray for testing fire sensor will be ok? Thank
We had some older roll on-roll off ships years ago at our shipyard that had something like six good size Diesel engines in them, and they had a much older oil mist system in it than this one. I think they used to call them oil mist precipitators, but can’t remember. The only problem with those ships were that even with those devices in place, the oil mist still counted everything in the engine room with a very fine oily mist. You could not put your tool bag down or touch the walls without getting a very light coating of the oil and grit. Probably a characteristic of the old Diesel engines…….
salamat sir! ganyan system nmin s ME sir. nagaalarma lagi ng fault kapag nireset s loob yung maliit n switch nawawala kaso bumabalik minsan sir.. bka sira n kaya sensor nun sir?

What is the oil mist detector and what is it using for?
Thank,
Tal.
Oil mist detector, is a device to analyzed the oil vapor into the crankcase, too much oil vapor may cause engine fire.

Sir ano po ang function at working principles ng oil mist detector sa main engine? Thank you sir.
Why sir most of diesel generator does not have ODM?
All diesel generators that I have sailed with have oil mist detection system
Solas Requirement - if the engine power rating is 2250 kw then we require either omd or bearing temperature monitor .
