@@annemichelle6842 I thought so too, until I supervised a residential camp and found out not everyone was raised with these disciplines/practices and wisdom. I think this is part of why the minimalist movement is so popular - lots of people never learned these basics and were raised in chaos (that is not an exaggeration for many people, unfortunately).

3a) put your still-edible food scraps into a soup, stew or hash! We don't have composting in all cities in my country, so I keep all my broccoli stalks, vegetable skins, potato peels etc. and every few days chuck them in a big pan and make some sort of concoction with whatever random ingredients I can find. It's not exactly always restaurant quality but it always feels good to make less waste. It's a leftover habit passed down in family from the war.

@@axltnt2176 World War II. Both my Grandmas were evacuees in England, so they grew up with rationing until the mid 50's and have cooked waste free ever since! Their motto is 'waste not, want not'. My mum cooks the same way, so I grew up making meals out of scraps it's just a habit now 😊

Or put vegetable scraps to a bag and into a freezer. Once that bag is full, slowly cook scraps for a couple of hours, blend with an immersion blender, and keep filtered liquid. You got your home-made vegetable broth you can use for soups and other dishes.

My last apartment and my boyfriend's last apartment both had really small kitchens with very minimal counter space. So I started putting things away as I cooked purely out of necessity. Now that we live in a big condo with a huge kitchen and tons of counterspace, I still do this with ingredients. It makes everything so much easier. Probably the best change I made to simplify my life in a long time (other than moving in with the bf, of course....that made life soooo much simpler). Great list! Just subscribed.

Sounds like you are getting things done if you're knowing it's no matter what you do. If that is the case a visit to you doctor might be in order. If not, perhaps try an energising diffuser blend if you haven't. Something with lemon, orange/mandarin and grapefuit...or mint/eucalyptus always helps me feel energised and ready for the day with lots of clarity. A to-do list with everything you're doing already anyway also helps you realise just how much you're doing anyway and can stop you making a list of more than fits in your available time. I have a daily and weekly list laminated in my kitchen and it means I can accomplish (and tick off!) the daily things which help me feel on track as well as the larger things each week that mean I never get too off course in my whole home. Happy to share the sheet if you'd like it as a starting point to adapt for you. 🙂
      Take care.

I want to add that I appreciate the tip about receipt envelopes. We don't run a business, but we rent our home from my father-in-law. Since he can claim all his expenses related to his rental property on his taxes, we use his credit card for purchases for the property (e.g. he bought us a dishwasher recently). But since we usually make these purchases on our own, we have to keep the receipts to send to him for his taxes. That envelope idea will really help us keep the clutter down. Normally, we just dump them on the kitchen table to sort out later ... much later. I am so doing the monthly envelopes just as soon as I can get some envelopes! Or maybe I'll do file folders, since receipts for online purchases are full pages. :D

Coat hangers: A year ago I bought 20 wooden black and white hangers for my husband and I. We only own those 20 hangers. If we ever find in the future that we need some more, that means we have to declutter our clothes, not buy new hangers (plus, the hangers I got were kind of expensive for that reason, so I am never be tempted to buy more)

A tip that simplifies family life: Have everyone in the house learn to wash their *own* dishes after use.
It's fair and quick, only takes a couple minutes or less to wash a cup and a plate.
It's good bc it never builds up a big pile of dishes for only on person to clean. So everyone cleans up after themselves and dishes are never a battle.

I type all accounts/sites in alphabetical order. Then I write the corresponding email address, UserID & Password/Pin in pencil next to them (in shorthand in case anyone gets ahold of them), because they always need to be updated. I separate personal and work items to make it even easier.

Actually, from what I can tell, probably most people just have their browser memorize all their passwords for them. I have my passwords actually memorized (though I do sometimes get caught by passwords I forgot to change at the beginning of the year). They say not to use the same password for everything, but I use variations on the same password so that I can easily remember them without having to write them down. I have only met one person that I knew actually wrote down her passwords in a notebook, and she was a senior.
Having said that, I do think that writing down your passwords is a good idea. I recommend using pencil, though, just because we're supposed to change our passwords at least once a year (some even recommend twice a year, at least for sensitive accounts). In fact, they sell little notebooks especially for that purpose, which I would strongly recommend over a piece of paper, as that would be so easy to lose. Plus, if you have a lot of passwords, it would be hard to find the one you want without the alphabetical system of a notebook. Or you could use a note app. We use ClevNote, which is free and has different types of notes (like checklists), one of which is specifically for online passwords.

#16 is for real. Email in particular. It’s easier on the laptop and then you don’t spend more time on the phone than you want.

charging your phone at night can be a great idea but because it is plugged in longer than it needs to be it can wear down the baterry, is you want your phone to last longer try charging it in the afternoon/evening when you winding down

Thanks for the tips, very helpful, also you seem to be a very nice person! :) I just don't agree with one thing - keeping all your passwords written down on a piece of paper is not a good idea for safety reasons. Please keep that in mind. Have a nice day ;)

I keep my compost in the freezer and when I'm preparing food I just bring that out to throw the ends/peels in.
Edit: For grocery lists, I always use the back of the receipt to write down what I need for next time.

I have heard that you can keep your passwords on your computer and scan your receipts so you can throw them away. THANK YOU to tell people to write these things down on paper. I have told people not to save important things only on your computer so it it crashes or the internet goes down you can still have access to your important papers

For passwords - my only Favorites in my phone are password protected sites (bills, banking) kept in alpha order by the company, relabeled as simply as possible to include a login & password hint for myself. Lesser used sites, I do the same thing but set them up like a Contact on my phone. A paper list is no good for me - I’d lose it!

I am actually quite overwhelmed with the ‘buying in bulk ‘ because my parents and my cousins’ parents are maximalists (I think the older generation had the mindset of ‘ more us better because they went through famine, Great Depression and wars etc so they have a tendency to stock up ( but as you have said, stocking up on what we consume fast is ok ) but like 30/40
plates of each kind when we rarely have guests and mostly 7 max I think that’s way out of hand and 30 cups, wine glasses, forks and knives etc 🤦🏻‍♀️All the younger generation felt overwhelmed and stressed out and couldn’t wait to leave home....

      Ooops, when I was younger I have 50+ cups/mugs but I only use 3.
Because I also grew up poor, I didn't have a nice mug.
I gave my other nice mugs to poor children during Christmas
