To all new players here watching this video: HI! I’ve been playing volleyball for almost 3 years. It doesn’t seem like much but I have put a lot of hours into learning this sport. I do not know everything and I am in no way the best player but I do know that volleyball can be very difficult to learn both physically and mentally. The most important thing that new players should know is NEVER GIVE UP! This game requires perseverance, patience, dedication and positivity. You will lose points or mess up a skill inevitably but don’t let that discourage you. Just one player being in their head can bring down the whole team, positive attitudes and the “I can do this” mindset is the best thing you can bring to the court. If you mess up a serve, make it up with a pass or by cheering your teammates on. You got this and I’m glad you chose to play this sport!
@@0-0-HadleyWoodHello I’ve been playing Volleyball for 5 years and I hope that practice goes well or if it already happened then I hope it went well and if you continue with the sport you will find some really good people along the way and have so many experiences both good and not so good I think you’ll do great and I hope you fall in love with volleyball as much as I have and never give up because so many opportunities open up the longer you go
to any new players - watch out for that vktry scam xDDD Just watch unbiased reviews. You really believe in magic? If that was so simple then every single professional athlete would use them xDDD dont waste your 150 bucks on piece of stiff foam with carbon fiber xDDD
That was me around 3 weeks ago! Oh my gosh, I was like a lost sheep 😭 but luckily everyone was nice so I was able to figure it out ❤ In my opinion, volleyball is an amazing sport
As someone who has only just started learning how to play this was super helpful, especially when you explained how volleyball rotation works! Thank you
Newbies need this video, hell even professionals need this video! Even if you have been playing vball for a while, Christian does a good job in this very, very awesome tutorial we all needed. So guys, get your Mikasa or Molten vballs out and start practicing.
I'm digging (pun fully intended) the part of the forearm passing. That's very well explained. The most important parts are ensuring your thumb bones and the meat portion of your thumbs are lined up/parallel, and your arms are straight. I ended up building the confidence to try out for my highschool volleyball team and out of 160 freshmen who tried out, i made it. I got in volleyball team today and I just realized that I haven’t played volleyball for a 6 months because of that my serve are not good and my spikes are not good and the thing is that I been playing volleyball for 2 years
Good job on the video. In the shoe department, I hate seeing kids wear basketball shoes; they are too heavy. Great volleyball shoes from Mizuno, Asics, Nike, etc., are lighter and made for the jump. I am not a shoe rep. I have been a coach and player for 35 years.
I got invited by a team of my friends, I have never played volleyball in my life but its full of amateur teams so I'm gonna watch as much content as I can. I have a match tomorrow, they said that I probably won't play unless we're ahead. Gonna try to practice as much as I can because I've always wanted to play Volleyball growing up but at my HS it was just full of the popular kids and they controlled who joined and who didn't. (at the time i was a stick figure nerd and team was full of popular jocks) My knowledge outside of this video is watching the anime "Haikyu". I hope the rules are similar to that because that anime is my 2nd favorite anime.
From what I have seen, you are perfectly able to spike. Did you consider being an opposite, or is the position of setter just more comfortable for you?
thank you! I really want to start 6th grade modified volleyball next year and I’m likely going to do it (my parents support me playing like a ton of sports as long as they aren’t too violent) and this helped a lot, I started looking at ur channel and I really enjoy the videos! Talking about serving - I also serve in a way where I flick the ball in the air and hit it from the bottom with my wrist. Is this type of serve acceptable? Right now, I am learning the float serve and I am doing pretty horrid haha

Aside from the aforementioned skills, you also need to have these two aptitudes to really enjoy the game. 1.) Positivity aka "I can do this" mentality 2.) Resilience aka "I'll do better next time" mentality Volleyball is a game of mistakes & lucky break so YOU TRULY NEED THOSE 2 APTITUDES. No matter how perfectly you pass, set or hit the ball, if you cannot score it then the opposition will have their chance. And sometimes, as luck would bless them, the opposing team who did mediocre in that bout will score the point just because your pinky touched the ball when their hitter did a high ball attack or maybe your blocker was seen slightly touching the net or etc. This sport, where you're not allowed to hold the ball even just for a second, is truly hardwork but it is 100000% FUUUUUN!
