Yeah that one was odd as well. Hannibal Lecter being recast doesnt count cause of course they re adapted red dragon from man hunter to red dragon. But before 2002 Hannibal Lecter was considered a recast

I think Foster hated the book Hannibal and didn't think the movie would be different enough. And/or she wanted too much money.

Realistically, a tea kettle from another dimension is probably as close to Bowie as you're going to get. He was a very weird, amazing dude.

Paige Turco replacing Judith Hoag as April O’Neil in TMNT Secret of the Ooze.
She was more attractive though the only good thing about the sequel
Turtles 2 still looks like a damn masterpiece next to Turtles 3 though.
I liked Paige Turco a lot more. As has been said, she’s better looking. That’s certainly not the only reason I liked her better, though. I think she was just better, all around.
While Paige Turco is a little more attractive than Judith Hoag...I like Judith Hoag better as April. And...Judith Hoag is attractive too :-)

I didn't like when they recasted Raiden in the 2nd Mortal kombat movie. I think Christopher Lambert was great as Raiden
He has expressed interest in reprising the role. I suspect he was replaced in MK2 for budgetary reasons.

Roseanne, the recast of Becky was kinda weird.
They brought her back and made a joke about it on the show if I recall. "Where have you been?"
There is a British series called Game On and the second season one of the characters has been recast and at the end all three main characters mentions Roseanne being on and one says "I wonder who'll be playing the daughter this week?" and someone else replies "Don't you hate that when keep the same character and change the actor?" then both look at the recast character.
At the the end of one episode DJ starts chanting
" they say shes the same but she is not the same"

Twin peaks season 3 and AVGN are like my two favorite recent things and I love to see them collide.
Not enough people know about how amazing season 3 is, let alone the world of Twin Peaks. I hope more people discover it through james. It needs more recognition. And we need season 4 or some conclusion. where is Judy?

The one for me was Becky on the show "Roseanne". When they did the callback and brought her back it was priceless!
I was going to mention this one. Unlike the shows mentioned they atleast brought this up at the start of the episode.
It always bugged me that Aunt Viv changed in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

I still find Katie Holmes being replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Dark Knight really distracting.
Oh and Robin Curtis replacing Kirstie Alley in The Search for Spock was always weird, although in Curtis’ defence the complete change in character was mandated by Leonard Nimoy rather than her totally ignoring Alley’s performance.

Jere Aho Just to blow your mind a little more, Saavik was supposed to be the traitor in Star Trek VI too, but the director wanted Kirstie Alley and couldn’t get her. So when they had to recast again, they decided to change the character name too, rather than recast the character for a third time.
And in a very rare, lost deleted scene in The Wrath of Khan, it was revealed she was half-Romulan, explaining her subdued but noticeable emotional reactions at times. But I'm glad that scene got cut, otherwise they'd have to explain why there's even a partial Romulan (i.e., the enemy) aboard a Federation starship.

Honestly I really liked Salvation but JC in Rise of the Machines was plain awful and Genisys killed the franchise
Unrelated. Sort of . but i always thought the scene in 2 where sarah was doing pullups in her cell was a little weird until i realized they took out footage of the original future john conner actor from the movie. He apparently was really pissed.
What would be strange is if he were played by the same actor more than once.

Bowie's whole character arc in Twin Peaks being focussed around the disappearance of Judy from Family Matters is honestly the most logical and straightforward answer I've seen to what Twin Peaks is all about. It finally makes sense.

Stewart would be an amazing Freeze in a movie not directed by Joel Schumacher. Stewart would be pretty much a joke in that movie. Schwarzenegger is hammy enough to work.

The worst I can remember : Robert John Burke replaced Peter Weller in Robocop 3. Also pretty funny watching the early footage of Back To the Future with Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly.

That was absolutely baffling. I somehow missed the news that the part was recast, so when the new guy showed up I had to go online to find out if it was even meant to be the same character.
The original one should have stayed. Also, the original mountain should have stayed.
Morgan in Boy Meets World was a great recasting. She came downstairs after being “grounded for a year.” They acknowledged how different she looked as a joke.
Never noticed that one. I loved Boy Meets World. Still have a bit of a crush on Danielle Fischel

How about John Connor going from Edward Furlong to Nick Stahl.
Nick Stahl is terrible as John Conner.
He was actually suppose to reprise his role, but the producers found out about his drug addiction so that's why.
I've always liked nick stahl. It also fits well because he changes in every movie. Isn't he now a she in the new one lol

The worst for me is Kristen from Nightmare on Elm Street 3 starting as Patricia Arquette, then switching to Tuesday Knight in Nightmare on Elm Street 4. Mostly since 4 picks up right where 3 left off. So if you watch them in sequence you really miss Patricia Arquette’s portrayal of Kristen
But the reason why was because Patricia didnt want to return. She wanted to move on and was even working on another movie
It always bugged me too. They kill her off anyway they should have just started the movie off with her already dead. You can have Alice get her powers and just use exposition to explain they were friends.
As a kid I only saw part 4, part 3 was never on TV. So it does not bother me too much, but Arquette is much better. Love part 4 btw
@@mrblonde609 What? For me it was the opposite. Part 3 was the one frequently shown on TV (there is even a TV version of Nightmare 3--that means it has footage exclusive to that version) while 4 was missing in action on television until I saw it on TBS in 1999 or so.
Least Tuesday Knight gave us an awesome song in Part 4. I got that "Nightmare" single CD she released in 2015 autographed. =D

Agreed. Even though the actors themselves had disputes and didn't really get along, which is a shame, the new Vivian just never felt quite as good as the original. She was fine, but not quite AS good to me.

I put off watching the Norton Hulk movie until somewhat recently, and I really liked his take on the character. Still, Ruffalo seems more right for the character, but I actually watched all the movies.

Laurie from That 70's Show was an odd one.
At those times she was getting bad into her alcohol/drug problem
she was gone for a little while part way through due to pregnancy but lost the baby and returned but she got into the alcohol (probably partly as a coping mechanism for losing the baby) and wasn't on very long after that before they recast her. If I remember correctly she didn't yet have a drug problem just the alcoholism but it later turned into a drug problem later after already being recast.
Lisa Robyn Kelly was the hottest! Man, it sucks that she died so young.

Speaking of interesting ways of recasting. On "Boy Meets World" Lily Nicksay (Morgan) goes up the stairs at the end of season two and Lindsay Rideway (New Morgan) comes down the stairs in season three.

@@justadude420 In addition to reusing old footage, they also had a face mold of Crispin Glover that they used to make facial prosthetics to put on the guy they recast as George.
Glover wanted more money hence why never came back.
All the different Tommy Jarvis in the Friday the 13th movies. General iroh from Avatar The Last Airbender. Sesshomaru from Inuyasha.
Avatar was good. It was a noticeable change, but i have to say the guy the had replace Mako was a REALLY close soundalike. I think he did work for Shaolin Showdown too
I was disappointed with Tommy Jarvis in part 6. I thought the guy in part 5 was way better
Iroh getting replaced wasn't really strange, seeing as Mako... you know... died. The tribute episode they did was great.
Funny you should mention Sesshomaru, would probably agree. Inuyasha, overall, is one of the best English dubs ever.

Well the original kid actors grew up. So that's why they had to be recast.
James is a bit more of a movie guy and hasn't really bothered with TV series so hasn't watched Twin Peaks....
However....Family Matters. Knows more than the average fan.

Danny Devito was asked about Detective Pikachu and responded by asking what pokemon was and seemed disinterested. I doubt he would have taken the part.
He had never even heard of it. Odds are good that if they did offer it to him, he wouldn't have responded back anyway.

Everything about Batman Forever was strange
I refuse to acknowledge Batman Forever and Batman & Robin as sequels to the Burton movies. They changed pretty much every actor and every location and atmosphere.
It's like if you made a TV show and by the 3rd season you replaced every actor except for one background character and they now all live in a new house. And then by the 4th season every character is replaced yet again.

Tim Burton should've been allowed to make his third Batman film. That way we would've gotten our Burton/Keaton Trilogy. It would've been far better than that Schumacher crap. But noooo they needed something they could better market to kids 😬

and Marty! Marty was originally cast as Eric Stoltz. They shot alot of the movie with him but it just wasn't "clicking", so they recast MJF. They originally wanted MJF, but didn't think it would work because of his busy schedule shooting Family Ties. Even when they got him to play Marty, MJF was working about 20 hour days between Back to the Future and Family Ties. (I'm a huge BTTF fan, if it wasn't obvious)

I always thought of Batman Forever as a reimagining of Batman.
I did too. When James said that I was like, "Thank you!" I thought that it was a different universe when I saw it as a kid.
I always saw it as a half continuation.

One of my favorite recastings was how "Boy Meets World" switched Morgans. I love it because they basically acknowledge it by having characters surprised to see her and her saying that she was just in her room on a timeout for like a season and a half.

One recasting I that sticks out in my head is from the 1960's Batman series. For one episode the recast the role of the Riddler. Instead of Frank Gorshin as the Riddler, they cast John Astin. From what I hear, Gorshin was pissed they did that.
