  • This mixer packs so much value for the dollar it is honestly hard to recommend much else. I do unintentionally exaggerate when I am talking about the mic preamps as you can get 12 mic preamps for less money if you go with something like an EPM12, but you lose out on so many of the digital features that the Ui16 has to offer. That is why I added that to the video.
Prices shown are in USD from Sweetwater. I have no affiliation with them but they are pretty industry standard in their pricing.

I've gigged with one for over a year. The major factor was the browser interface. Using ANYTHING with a browser instead of needing an app that will have minimum requirements, or dropping support in a few years is this thing's killer feature for me... I use a 12 year old iPad, which was not useful for anything until I started using it for this.

Has everything needed to get a good live sound and works in the studio too.
The fx and modelling for guitar and bass is ok too.
The 12 and 16 are on the small side for a full band though.
Just purchased a second Ui24R, these are great digital mixers.
One should take note of that multritrack recording 16-20 tracks at 24bit on the 24 is best with an externally powered SSD or Nvme, it can use all the space available too.
The build in Wi-Fi is not good though, so best to get a small router, found a tiny one from MikroTik which also has PoE on one port, which can come in handy when using powered antennas.
Using that router to have wi-fi and lan for the mixer and a mini pc with a touchscreen, tablets are nice but to small.
If more channels are needed, two 24’s can be cascaded.
The only thing I wish they also had is Dante, would make it a lot cheaper to connect to FOH.

ive had my ui16 for a year now, absolutely love this little mixer. That being said ive ran out of inputs a few times and will be getting the ui24.

the Ui24 also does multitrack recording, which for the price is insane. I wish they had included that feature on this version. Behringer did the same thing with their iOS controlled mixer, where they limited that to the most expensive model. Fair enough, I suppose, but I love being able to multitrack with my digital mixer and give bands the option to put out versions of live performances with some post production.

Looks like a slight upgrade to the Behringer XR16 but I don’t use iPad mixers to I wouldn’t know.

Does the Ui16 have the ability to do ducking(side channel) to duck music? It looks like the Ui24 does by using subgroupd but I cant find anything that says the 12 or 16 do.

ooooooo the 24 channel one is tempting even when I have an interface... Is that bad?

I'm still trying to find out how to seitch the guitar fx on and off without having to switch snapshots of the entire mix or having to touch the mixer. Is there some sort of footpedal to control the effects on/off via midi somehow?

There is a footswitch input on the side but I have never used it. I would take a read through the manual and see it will do what you are looking for, could solve your issue.

I've been using a ui24r since a year before the pandemic. The capabilities are amazing and the reliability of them is nearly zero. There's no way I would use this unit in a critical role for a paying gig. Its innumerable quirks add up to a unit that consistently fails in the clutch. Much as I love the idea of it, I have to recommend against the reality of it.

Are you talking about the wireless connection or does the unit actually fail?

I have a wireless mic system prewired in and a power strip, so nothing crazy. The wireless mics are nice because I can walk into an event and just run my mains and be ready for speaking events. It is overkill for DJing but I do bring it to some events as well.
