At 2:45 Sean mentions direct connections of Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse to my UI16 this does NOT work. I tried from power up with Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse connected and all I see is a Soundcraft logo on the HDMI monitor but no control with Keyboard and Mouse. I have the latest software loaded.
What function does the USB1 and 2 ports on the Ui12 serve. Sean talks about them on the 16 for mouse and keyboard, is there a way to achieve this on the 12?
I have just spoken to a few shops in the uk and it seems that there is a delay in stock arrival so it won't be arriving in shops apparently until 22-25th May :( gutted i want one now
So, when does Ui32 come out? That and 20" touchscreen combined to an optional fader surface (3rd party midi?) would be pretty much a new modular thing in the industry with options for a full blown surface when you want to have one, still keeping the unit small when you want to travel light. If the quality is right this thing will be good. I ordered one, will see how it sounds.

Here's my review of both Soundcraft UI12 and 16. First of all both machines work for maybe an hour or 2 just fine and then the connection problems start eventually locking you out completely thus leaving you in a blind panic in front of your audience and the only way to get the connection back is to reset it by firstly finding a pin! Then prodding it into a tiny little pinhole on the side but not before you've switched the power off and on!!! Try explaining that to an angry crowd of people, and this happened sometimes twice a night! Secondly 2 or 3 months down the line both power supplies died during performances!!! I opened one of the supplies up out of curiosity, it looked like a child had cobbled it together for an art project! My advice is stay well clear of these, not worth the loss of hair! Their products cost me work and got me some bad reviews online so this is a little payback!

How would you handle playback from FOH. Would you need another UI mixer for that? There's no way to input sound from a DVD player or mp3 device into the browser, is there?

I know it had lexicon reverb, delay and chorus but is it just one instance of each? Or does it have plates, halls, gated reverbs etc same for delays, does it have presets built in to get started? Same goes for compressor, gates, de-ess settings. are there built in presets to get you started? I currently have a sound craft mfxi12 which i love but i now want to go digital because of the extra options for dynamics that digital offers, without a load of external outboard gear to lug around.
I would think in the amp modeling app, you can turn off the amplifier and cabinet models, and use the effects by themselves. That's what I would verify with Soundcraft. Maybe that would be a work-around if the vocal effects aren't enough.

+David Maldonado The hissing, unfortunately, seems to be the downfall of these units. If you can, avoid using phantom power and hi-z, also use as little gain as is necessary, in my experience these actions will cut down on the noise.

These look great, but I can't see why they're saying these are 16 and 12 channel units, when they're really only 12 and 8 channel units. From what I can tell and what I've read, I think they're counting the left and right RCA inputs and the stereo USB input as the other four channels. But those kinds of auxiliary inputs are for external music playback, and they're never counted as vocal or instrument input channels on any other mixers. Too bad. I'd seriously consider getting one if it were truly 16 channels.
+Steve Figueroa - Yes, you really need to do your research before you buy. Almost every company does this. An external input of any kind is considered an input channel. (mic, line, rca, 1/4", usb, etc.)
+MusiciansPro - Not all of them do that. But the ones that do are misleading I think. I mean if I see a mixer with a 16 or 24 after it, that almost always refers to the number of mic/line inputs, and that's how many channels it's described as having. I know they're saying inputs and not channels, but I still think it's misleading in a way. Because almost no one uses RCA or USB inputs for anything else except for break music playback.

Either way an input is an input and marketing departments are going to advertise the highest number they can. It's just up to us to understand the numbers.
Using a web browser to control an audio mixer is highly unprofessional, making this thing strictly consumer gear. At best it might be acceptable in a home studio where time is not billed by the hour.
