Engine DJ is listening! (but still has some work to do)
Engine DJ 4.2 is out as of today and gives access to stems on a standalone device! That's the good news. The bad news is that they are charging $9.99 to add this feature to anyone who isn't using a Prime 4+. Thankfully not a whole lot of money. Now it does seem odd to be charging money for a feature that other software companies are including at no extra charge, but do keep in mind we are talking about stems on standalone devices.
Some may be rubbed the wrong way by these new stems having to be rendered ahead of time, but again this is standalone hardware we are talking about. I love my Mixstream Pro but the processor in there is a potato. Real time stem separation will require much more powerful hardware, so I for one think this is a great compromise. Let me know what you think!

Is spacing your subs RUINING your bass? (spoiler, it's likely fine)
มุมมอง 1014 วันที่ผ่านมา
Every few months I see DJs debating if it is better to space your subwoofers or keep them close together. It shouldn't be much of a debate but it's not as intuitive as you would expect. You can try the software I used in this video here. It's free to use. www.afmg.eu/en/ease-focus-3-free-download A great article on power alleys and subwoofers www.fulcrum-acoustic.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/...

I picked up another Yamaha mixer on a great deal. It is now my go to karaoke and rental unit. This one is a powered mixer, so it is only useful if you have passive speakers. Thankfully because active speakers are so popular there are some good deals to be had!

It's pretty wild how good of a guitar you can get for not a whole lot of money. The Oscar Schmidt LT is a great option for a first guitar. It's light, comfortable, and sounds pretty darn good! Full disclosure: I am an Oscar Schmidt dealer so take everything I say with that in mind.

Do these Yorkville speakers hold up after nearly 2 decades?! YX15 / YX15C Review
Talking of bass: I have testing two Wharfedale AX12-BT for a couple of weeks and I think that bass would be a little better, specially for a 12" cone. My impression is the built-in "Punch" mode increases the spectrum of frequencies near 120hz, but I would have liked something closer to 80Hz. Anyway, clearly this product was designed with the use of T-Sub AX15B unit in mind, so it's okay. In summary, I think this speaker is very good. Specially it have very good mids and highs; better than JBL IRX 112BT that have I tested directly against it, which pleasantly surprised me.
I have been using Serato DJ pro for years now thats why
Would this work with serato pro and phase
I will work with Serato DJ Pro (hardware unlocks it but does not unlock the DVS add on). No idea about Phase though, I have never used it.
@MaxSplVideos I have a numark scratch, but I have always wanted this neat little mixer
People complaining about the fee is just ridiculous!! The "free" software updates are not actually free. You pay for it with your recurring subscription or a hefty once-off charge. 9.99 is to cover the z-plane licensing cost. That cost enables 4 devices which, as a once-off charge is actually a great deal. Playback of stems on the desktop software will probably also have some licensing to deal with, which I suspect is why it's not available yet. Engine Desktop - "hot garbage" is just plain wrong. If you're struggling to export you need to talk to DenonDj directly. I have a library of about 800gb's & 3 back-up drives with no issues exporting at all. Analyse 50 tracks in Rekordbox, then those same tracks in Engine... it will take half the time of rekordbox & the grid will be more accurate. Browsing & streaming music wirelessly from Engine desktop to your device is another great feature that works very well. It also integrates directly with Soundswitch lighting software & now offers stem separation - What does Rekordbox offer that makes it so great? Bluetooth is notorious for having latency, which is undesirable in the dj world. You are asking for a very niche app that will probably just end up having people diss it for poor performance due to latency, but they do have a feature request section on the forum. No harm in officially asking for it there, DenonDj are very good at delivering features requests.
does mixer have the blutooths?
It does not.
Hey bud is this and the cort g250 se same ? I'm planning to buy one shall I go for it?

Hi, I'm so glad I found your channel you have some great videos and interesting content. Speaking of subwoofers can I get your advice or thoughts? I'm looking to purchase a single Subwoofer. I'm trying to get something with some power that I can afford. What is your opinion or do you think about the Alto Professional TS12S - 2500W 12-inch Subwoofer, Powered PA Speaker with 6 Selectable DSP Modes, 130 dB, 3" Voice Coil?
Don't expect the world from it (for example that 130db is likely peak without a limiter, my guess is that 115-120 is a bit more reasonable). A small system, say 2x 8" tops with that 12" Alto sub could be a good fit but will likely fall behind a set of good speakers. What are you using for speakers at the moment?
@MaxSplVideos I'm using 2 EKX 12P Tops. I went ahead and ordered one 12-in Alto TS12S Subwoofer. I have 2 18 inch Subs, but I need something lighter for smaller gigs too.
@@djstretchtone9851 Those EKX tops will wipe the floor with the Alto in terms of volume, but if you are only using the sub on small gigs it should add a bit of bass at those lower volumes. Let me know how you like the sub in the end!
As Akai also charged $9.99 for the stem separation on MPCs, and that was licensed from zplane, it's likely the same deal with Denon (both Akai and Denon being part of inMusic).
I assumed it would be something along those lines. From the demos that I have heard it was likely a good call as they sound pretty good.
In terms of # of devices, the $9.99 one time price will cover up to four (4) pieces of Engine compatible hardware, i.e. Denon Prime 4+, Numark Mixstream, etc. Stems are available on the Prime 4+ right now, with compatibility for all other hardware coming on 12/11/24. I’ve got a pair of SC5000Ms and a Prime Go, so that $9.99 will have me covered. Quality samples I’ve heard have been pretty damn good. Not as good as say the LALAL-AI site that I utilize frequently, but definitely (much!) better than the recently launched stems for Akai MPCs in standalone mode, which is also a one time $9.99 add on. Great video. Thanks!
I heard about the four devices through a video that came out after I recorded mine and it very good to hear. Looks like the added a Stems section to their website that clarifies a good amount of things.
They need to put stronger processors like they have on our iPhones cuz my iPhone 12 mini can handle stems🤷🏾♂️
I somewhat agree. Audio takes very little processing power so I am guessing they didn't have stems in mind on the earlier releases. The Mixstream is likely using an SOC equivalent to what you would find in a $100 Chromebook. The Prime 4+ has something beefier but it would seem that it was not up to the task (the beta stems for it were not great from what I hear). They should have put a more powerful SOC in the Prime if they intended to add stems, but my guess is they thought they had enough power. Doesn't matter to me though as I don't have a Prime 4+ so this workaround was what I expected, and predicted a couple months back in a different video.
@ they need to add them new powerful chips so they can have great stems on the fly to finally crush pioneer!!💪🏽
Basically a work around 🤷🏾♂️
I believe your hardware has to be registered with InMusic for it to work. Not sure if I'm 100 on that.
I really do not understand what people are talking about when using wifi issues and Soundcraft in the same sentence. The range, sure. But having it with you on the stage creatures zero issues. I am leaning on believing that all those are operator error or unrealistic expectations. With Behringer XR the situation exactly the opposite, that thing simply does not work.
Typical amperage use is 1.75 A(210VA @ 120V) while max is 3.67A (440VA @ 120V). Assuming the PSA1S would be combined to 2 x PS12P (1.6A/each), the rig draws a max of 6.87A. Still another 5A to spare for the mixer, minimum lightning (LED) and computer. All from a single 15A circuit (80% (12A) for more than 3 hrs). It is heavy though! lol Thanks for the review.
When it comes to speakers I am good all day with watts/ohms but as soon as amps/volts comes up my brain forgets how to math.
The number one problem that happens with just about anything, mixer, television, microphones whatever when it comes to power supplies IS THE INTERNAL POWER SUPPLY THEY ALWAYS GO BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRICITY VARIATION AND SURGES. I don't know how many times I've lost mixers because the internal power supply gets ruined because of this then you're screwed. I love EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLIES they are usually the first thing that go and it also makes it so the unit is not as bulky.. So with that I totally disagree.. not to mention internal power supplies cause more heat inside the unit which causes more dust to be attracted to the internal parts which can also make them go So definitely no go for internal power supplies external all the way!! Not to mention you can find third party power supplies anywhere and you always will be able to... And super cheap
curious if there was a reason they couldn't use the open source demucs model, it's MIT licensed.
i've only got about 45 gigs of music, but doesn't seem like syncing takes very long on a fresh card/thumb drive?
useless video, I'm buying more lasers so I'll be the cooler-looking DJ.
Solid Review, thanks! Do you have any experience with the Peavey XR-S?
I don't. It looks ok with 8 mic inputs in that form factor and 500watts x2 at 4ohms. Very compact. I'm not sure why they did 4 speakon outputs on the back when one set is bypassed at all times (at least from what I can tell).
Why would Yamaha only provide 1 output for each side/amplifier? If I am running 2 main monitors up front (L+R) and 1 monitor in the rear for the drummer (Aux 1), those Yamaha SM15V 8ohm monitors up front become 16ohm since you have to run them in a series....so the stated 460w at 8ohm (in the Yamaha spec sheet) becomes something far less, with two large monitors to push. This is a major deal breaker if that is the case.
Double check your monitors, most of the time the in/out is wired in parallel. This would give you a 4ohm load with two speakers.
@@MaxSplVideos Ahhhhhh, so per the Yamaha page: "The Concert Club V series and Concert Club VC series speakers provide dual phone jacks as well as dual Speakon connectors for input and parallel connection". So if both monitors were 8ohms, I could run one cable from the mixer to the first monitor, then a second cable from first monitor to the second monitor and it would be a 4ohm load since they are in parallel and not 16ohm like I originally thought, is that accurate? Thanks! I am retiring a fleet of Mackie 808 mixers that have been great for two decades of daily use. I opted to go with the Peavey XR-S over the Yamaha but it's going to be short string if they give me any issues.
sweet this is dope! do u know if Im allowed to dj with turtle beach headphone that are intended for gaming? will it blow up? I have most this stuffs in the video already bro I have pevey 250watts rms mixing amp with properly rated rockville passive 400wrms 12s and a powered 12sub by alto and another powered 12 sub from rockville also how do you do the sub from the amp head without having to manually control the sub every time you change the volume it works fine its just anoying
Headphones are generally universal so they should be useable (if they are USB you have to select them as the output for cue in your software). A powered subwoofer with a set of passive speakers always makes things a bit more annoying to set up. What are you using for your audio source? Is it a controller or direct from your computer? How do you have the subwoofer wired in? Most mixers have the powered amp on the back and then a signal level on the front. If you run the signal level from the front to the sub it should be on the same volume knob/fader as the speakers. If you let me know the model I can let you know for sure.
@@MaxSplVideos the head is actually a TOA Model MX-401 and I am running signal on line out from computer and solved headphone problem but still need to figure how to do the subs Sub is rockville rbg12s and the alto tx series 12 they sell. Thing is I want them to work like they do when I have em connected to the pre outs on my yamaha reciever at home e.g the volume master goes up and doun with em if that makes any sence. I have them on line out aux RCA outs on the toa and I need to go and set them manually when I go and set volume master on toa as well as the other seismic sa-ma4 100w head we have.
Hi. Is there.too.much difference between this one and the earlier model?

What about Mackie?
Mackie makes solid mixers but I don't know if I have ever seen a powered mixer from them (let alone used one).
@@MaxSplVideos They had the 808 series for nearly two decades and it was bombproof....but sadly discontinued.
I’ve had a Yamaha EMX5014c since 2008. I love it.
They just make solid mixers. I have yet to use a Yamaha mixer I didn't like (this is my fourth one).
I also use the standard version of the DM3 digital mixer which I absolutely love. People say it has its limitations ie channel count and no Dugan but I can mix up to a 5 piece band with it.
@@MaxSplVideos Why would Yamaha only provide 1 output for each side/amplifier? I have a 2016 Godin Session SG RN with the Black Burst finish and OMFG, what an axe it is! I have ZERO interest in buying another guitar that isn't one of my two grails. It's THAT good! It's actually my second Godin because I also have a Solidac. However, the Session is more my style because it's much lighter with a much more slender neck. The Solidac is a beast but it's a big single-cut LP-style body made of solid Silver Maple and has a chunky mahogany neck. Don't get me wrong, I love my Solidac but I ADORE my Session!
May I ask you a questions, please?
Can wharfedale speakers Bluetooth paired together
Yes.
i was considering a stratlike budget friendly guitar, i think ive made up my mind thanks man
Does the 31 band eq of the main out effects the recording?
USB Type-C port does NOT imply higher speed sata rate. Nor will ir automagically use PD or QC Chargers. Neither of which The Manufacturer's site claims, so QUIT SHILLING CRAP THAT DOES NOT DO WHAT YOU SAY.
Yup, also nowadays there are USB PD triggers for common voltages that let you power arbitrary (even proprietary) DC inputs over USB-C. Power + data over a single plug is a benefit tho :)
Hey there, I'm not sure if I ever said it has a higher transfer rate. As for chargers if there are some that it does not work with that's good to know, it has worked with all of the chargers I have used it with thus far so I have not run into any compatibility issues. Worth keeping an eye on though, thanks!
still have mine as a backup. only mic issues and lack of pads stop me using it as my daily driver. so sad they no longer put decent mic support on modern controllers onless you spend a fortune, making you buy a second mixer. a lot of us djs still do actually speak.
my main issue is its sooooooo slow to export to sd card or usb stick
To automatically relocate all missing files: 1. In the track list, right-click on any missing track and select Auto Relocate All. 2. Engine DJ will begin scanning your Desktop, Music and Documents folders, and all connected drives (including Dropbox, if connected) for the missing tracks. Tracks will be scanned by file name first, followed by length if there are multiple file name matches. 3. If file matches are found, Engine DJ will update tracks the same as above. Any files that do not match in name and length will remain missing. If multiple matches are found, Auto Relocate will not select one and the track will remain missing
Like your video, can i run the speakers straight to the amp without an external crossover like a dbx ?
You only need a crossover if you are using it with a subwoofer. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing your video! Can the vocals be converted from male to female? I am an aspiring DJ very beginner stages researching the various DAW features! STEM separation is RAD and the fact that each part can be converted to midi for further manipulation is chido!❤ Cheers 🍻
It could be possible with a voice changer type of software after splitting the stems, but not using MIDI as it is wouldn't maintain the lyrics.
2 volume knob is very usefull if you are doing karaoke. 1 for music and the other for mic to balance the vocals.
That's what makes the AX8 so annoying, it only allows one volume to be used at a time. I have not used the larger speakers from the Tourus line so they could be closer to my Typhon 12s where each input has its own volume.
Do you still have it? Does it still work? Have you had any problems with it?

@@MaxSplVideos I just winder how long the newtube amps last?
@@jesusislord1634 They are rated for 30,000 hours so they should last a good long while. Plus they look to be a pinned chip similar to an op amp so I believe they can be replaced by the end user (but I have not done so myself so I could be wrong).

Waves LV1 or this one for live performance?
If it was only myself running the system I would take the Waves LV1 without hesitating. I need boards that can also be used by other technicians and often renters, so something like this Yamaha really come in handy.
Hi, i noticed my yamaha mg12fxf has a very loud output compared to my other mixers. I tend to put the gain and fader volume so low. Is that normal? Doni have a deffeftive mixer? Thanks!
That doesn't sound defective. Are your other mixers from a reputable manufacturer? Cheaper mixers tend to have lower output (or the same output as better quality mixers but with a higher noise floor).
Great value for the money!. They are sort of disposable tech, though. The caps eventually go making for a loud noise floor. It would take quite an effort to replace them.
On a small mixer like this, as long as you're not dealing with teeny tiny SMD caps (0612 or smaller), it should be a fairly easy job to recap it. Compare that with some of those massive analog consoles for sale at seemingly cheap prices where just the capacitors to recap the board combined in many cases cost more than what you paid for it.
We bought a wharfedale typhoon Ax12. Bt and the top an power is indicating that it is on but when mic and every thing Is on the sound is off. What can be done.
Read the manual and go through the troubleshooting guide. If you can't get it working contact your dealer and/or Wharfedale for assistance as it could be defective but they will get you to go through the troubleshooting guide before doing an RMA.
