That almost car crash was so scary.
Probably something to note for the future. That could have ended really bad.... 60km/h bunch of cyclists vs 60km/h car = 120 km/h frontal crash... And those DS are driving the team cars with a radio in one hand, a bidon in the other and the eyes on a TV screen.
@@swe223the only good thing that car has done it's to not do an emergency brake immediately, they would probably have taken the crash themselves, otherwise the rider so close to the back would look like a mosquito on the windscreen
That looked really close. Very scary
The guys driving the car that was pulling Kulset said they were communicating with the other car, and they were ment to break, but Kulset tok the wrong turn just following the car and not taking the exit in the roundabout so he could jump inn on the other car. And when Kulset was so close the car couldn't really break.
Everyone says they don't feel MVDP's presence this TDF until he does this and all you can say is GOD DAMN he's fast. 😂
MvdP is using the TdF as a training stage for the Olympics, I think he's riding hard and fast.
The two breaks he did get into he was putting up the same figures as when he does when the break makes it to the end, but the peleton just wasn't having it. It's like blaming Vingegaard for 'not even following Pogi' but then you realize even Remco beat the last top time for that climb let alone the two guys ahead of him.

@@username8644 Tough yes, but competitive? Not at the top, Jonas misses those six weeks training due to the crash and Pogi is just way to far ahead of the rest.
And with Primoz gone, there isn't a big fight left for the podium between him and Remco :(
But, if you mean competitive with the whole peleton being at an incredibly high level this tour, you're 100% right there are so many records being broken ( except the records of most people outside the time limit ).
It's a very interesting tour to watch still, I'm still waiting for Pogi's 'historically predictable single bad day in the mountains' but I'm starting to think UAE finally got their sh1t together with heat management and calorie intake.
I really hope Girmay can bounce back and close up a sprint point or two. And if he can survive to sprint at least on stage 18 or 19, he should be able to close it up. Breakaways may be Biniam's best friends now. Take away the sprint points early may do it, however stage 17 and 19, the sprint points are before any major climbs.
If he can limit Philipsen in 17 and 19 to minimal gains, the points on 18 and 20 should be zero for either him or Philipsen and be enough for him to keep the Green jersey. Whew, what a battel for Green!
Breakaways are Bini's friend, unless Philipsen+MVDP in it...

The hills will save Girmay. 36 points is enough of a buffer, unless Jasper suddenly develops climbing legs that can still sprint for intermediates. I’d say Girmay is safe in green.

Find it interesting that there's so many sprinters this Tour who've won a previous TdF bunch sprint yet most haven't even come close this year. Cav and Groenewegen got it right once or twice, Wout + De Lie almost won one but thought Demare, Jakobsen, Bennett, Ackerman & Kristoff (+Bauhaus) would combine to have some impact between them
Only one can win each sprint stage, so that's not surprising at all! I would even say this year has way more winners than last year when Philipsen dominated.
@@brotherfranciz I'm not on about winning tho! Just being in genuine contention to win. There's been no stage where Bennett or Jakobsen have looked remotely like winning in the final 500m. Obvs Cav/Groenewegen won one but have been anonymous on all/almost all other sprints. Wout's got close a couple times and Kristoff and Ackerman have a lot of top 5s tbf but have never looked like they've got enough to win. Basically what I'm saying is that with a couple of exceptions, every sprint has been contested exclusively between Girmay and Philipsen + occasionally WVA or De Lie, which is surprising given how deep the sprint field is
SammyB was actually motoring. Just he was riding in clean air with no lead out and bad positioning. Starting to come good just as we head into some tough days 😂😂😂🙄

Agreed, I've noticed that even when he has his team pulling at the front he tends to drift to deeper into the pack and crowdsurf different team through to the finish. I'd really like to see him position himself closer to the front in future TDFs when he is actually designated as the team's sprinter.

I don't think so. Crashes are common in such a high speed sport. It can happen to anyone. It's just unfortunate it happened to Bini at such a critical stage.

Flobikes channel has the complete aerial footage but there were no cameras on the ground at the roundabout. Looks like accidental contact, just bad luck

He got tangled up with three EF riders who were all heading into that ride hand sweeping turn. Nothing is being hidden from you. Go look for the footage.

5:00 - I'm the guy in yellow behind the barrier at the bottom left of this shot! It's actually a yellow Australia cricket jersey. It took me forever to find myself because it looks like it's my arm holding out a phone, but that is someone else's arm. I was filming with my Panasonic Lumix S5ii so I'd initially dismissed that shot when trying to look for myself thinking the guy in yellow wasn't me because he was holding out a phone.
I knew I was standing right before the 500m mark and banging on the France tv advertising hoarding right as the barriers bend toward the riders' right (camera's left).
It was a great day in Nimes but really hot and packed full of people. I actually walked all the way to the finish line trying to find a good spot to film, and had to walk back to 500m before there was space on the barrier - I wanted the experience of banging on the hoarding as the sprint train went past.
I even got to film Pogacar on the podium in yellow during the ceremony after the race, but again unfortunately I was standing maybe 50m away at an odd angle and had to zoom in over people's heads...
Philipsen still veered hard left off VdP wheel! Oosh. Hope Bini wins green!

No video to show the accident which means someone may have gotten away from being punished. Green jersey or not, Bini is already a winner, a hero in his country and in Africa. No one can take that away rom him.
The organization should investigate the crash, absolutely. There is much more interest in Philipsen winning the green jersey than Girmay and for the integrety of the race it needs to be made absolutely sure than there is no doubt of possible intentional motives.

There are two men on each camera bike: a driver in front and a camera man in the back. There just weren't a camera bike right there.
