Good to see it coming together. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos and inspiring others to do restoration and repair work.

You made taking out that steering column so easy! Every other video seems to take the entire thing apart before removing it :) Likewise with the wiring harness and dash panel. So smart to do it that way! As always, love how you research, plan and then proceed on your work.

Other than persuading a few rusty fasteners of their 40 year grip... I was surprised how well the process went! Thank you for the feedback!

It was great talking with you also. Can't wait to see the rebuild of the transfer case, which is what I was original planning on doing to it.
I'm in the process of replacing my entire wiring harness but I'm doing it the harder way, left the dash in because of the full roll-cage. BIG mistake.
    Keep the videos coming

Great to hear from you! Getting all my ducks in a row and research complete to soon begin on the rebuild of the Dana 300. Looking forward to tearing into it and learn from the experience. I'm circling back to the research on the chassis wiring harness replacement. Most likely go with a generic 20+/- circuit harness. Mine will be much easier with the dash out! Cheers! Mike

@@UCanDoIt2Mike I did a 22 circuit harness and using the "power window" and "power locks" to run other accessories.
Just don't cut anything and keep the old harness intact as much as possible to use as a reference when you start the new one

Great vid documenting the disassembly of the dash Mike. Those are some nice parts for Rowdy too. Looking forward to the next episode.

Exciting and scary at the same time when you get it torn down this far. As far as the panels.... I look at them and say, "WWRD"... What would Russell do! Cheers!

As always, another first class video, Mike ! My son and I are eagerly awaiting the Dana rebuild videos. It’s great to see the attention to detail that you’ve been putting into Project Rowdy when there are so many other people that obviously don’t put the forethought and high standards into their rebuilds. You should see about selling a complete video set when you’re through !

Thank you... thank you!!!! Always feels good to get something published and receive the incredible feedback from so many. The Heater Box is next as I spent yesterday planning it and today taking it out. I just might work on the Dana 300 next. Cheers and thanks for the kind words!!!! Mike

Unless you're planning to remove the column anyways, it's unnecessary for dash removal. Simply remove the wheel and also the signal lever. Also, you can support the dash while working behind it by replacing the most outboard fastening screws with same size/thread bolts 6 or 8 inches long. That way the dash will come away from the cowl and you can get your hands behind it with no strains in the wiring.

100% agree! May years ago I detached the dash and pulled it out a few inches in order to troubleshoot several gauge ground issues.

John my comment is a bit dated, but I used your suggestion about using the long bolts. Wanted to let you know what excellent advice it was.

HI Mike. The new dashes look so much different . That's coming along nicely. Cheers

This one has a trim tag on It, so I am hoping to be able to save it. This one has the Tach and Clock which most old CJ dashes sis not come with. The other thought is a new Blank Dash and custom place and cut-in the components. Let the research begin!!!! Cheers Steve... Mike

Just an ole man with a screwdriver and nothing better to do. I have owned this Jeep for 35 years and I’m a little partial to it. Thank you Sir! Mike

Hi! I am currently restoring a 77 cj7. What steering wheel is that? It is after market or is it original?

    • @UCanDoIt2Mike
      @UCanDoIt2Mike  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Early in my ownership of this Jeep, I swapped steering wheels with a friend that was selling his newer Jeep. My original 1979 Steering Wheel was a larger diameter hoop. I didn’t like it. I do not remember which year it came from, but I suspect 80-86.

They definitely don't last forever if you don't take care of them. Mine need a lot of help.
