I saw some soft top CJ's in the background of the video. Can you talk about those, and especially about how/when soft tops were standard, optional, etc.? Could a buyer order just a soft top? Or was that the option and the hard top was standard? Thanks!
Dennis, you need to sit down one day and write a book on what to look for in a jeep, you got too much knowledge to limit it to a 20 minute video 👍 and I would definitely buy that book
Jesus! That's paradise. I would like to be all day surrounded by Jeeps, awesome. I love your knowledge and passion Dennis. Many thanks for sharing with us these amazing videos.
. friends I have seen the video 4 times. thanks dennis ..
His knowledge makes watching this so enjoyable, I never had any interest in jeep till I started watching the channel, now I want one! Can't wait to see the whole collection!!
Please, show all CJ's!! Great explanation, I can recognise that my 86 Renegade is original one. Only the blue decals are missing after restauration, where can I buy it??
It’s unbelievable that some of those models sold for more than a Corvette or Cadillac! I admire the folks that made that choice and purchased them over more glamorous vehicles back then. True Jeep lovers!
I created my own CJ7.5 back in 1996. Was a 1984 CJ7 w/304ci and 5spd, added a scrambler hardtop including the metal that seperated the cab area from the back/bed. Also used a scrambler roll bar.Painted it plum crazy purple. Made a leather tonneau cover to cover the back. It served no purpose other than to look cool and turn a few heads. Driving it through a few northeast winters eventually killed it. Thanks for the CJ show Dennis👍😁
A full bag of knowledge...True love and passion to Jeeps......I have 175 Jeeps................all are diecast scale models😍....This legendary man inspiring everyday to collect Tiny Jeeps and explore the history behind these machines.....In INDIA it is difficult to find this machines....Thank you for the knowledge.....
The minute you become a jeep driver...you instantly gain worldwide friends. Jeep owners know what I'm saying. Also I believe if you break down on the road...male or female...you have probably a 50% better chance of someone stopping to offer assistance.
We still have my wife's 1985 Garnett Red CJ7. It came from the dealership with the Renegade striping similar to the one Dennis has. However it only has striping on the hood (no Renegade decals). Also no rocker panels but factory steps. The interior had the base looking black CJ seats but with orange piping on them. Upgraded steering wheel and a center console. Also rear seats. Dennis's Jeep is absolutely beautiful.
i love how adding a different color or stripe kit or interior, etc., can make the jeep new and exciting every time. i dont know of another vehicle that can be made to take on a thousand different styles and be unique every time
No b.s,just quality content. I’m from Scotland and I’ll never ever see an 81-85 cj yet I hang on every word Dennis has to say about them. My favourite day of the week is Friday as a new episode f coffee walk comes out.
I learned how to drive in a '67 CJ5. Dad said that when I got old enough to be able to push in the clutch and see over the steering wheel that I could drive it. I used to hang from a tree limb trying to stretch myself.
Thank you Dennis for your videos, I really appreciate your love for CJ's. Still have my original 1980 CJ-7 Renegade, which was factory ordered. Drove it my senior year in high school.
I have an '86 Laredo that I restored, and I learned more about it in the last 10 minutes than I ever knew before! Thank you Dennis for your passion for this old iron!
I’ve got a 86 cj I wouldn’t take anything for Dennis knows more about Jeep’s than anyone . I love this channel so much can’t wait for the next one to come out . And the guys that work for him got it going on also be safe and keep them coming
As always, if you want to know about or confirm what your Jeep is , Dennis Collins is the guy to ask! Kinda like a guru for AMC Jeep , thank you Mr. Collins .
@@jasonverser7713 The auto is much easier and funner to drive IMO, but it does not have an overdrive so the hwy is not the greatest. Do you really need to go fast in a CJ... Ha Maybe I'm getting lazy, as I grew up on stick and an auto is so much more enjoyable to me now.
In 1982 I ordered a CJ7, 5speed, 6 cyl, posi trac, cloth top, rear seat, stock wheels, light yellow, no other options. Drove that jeep for years finally lost it in a divorce. It was the best truck I have ever owned. Drove it in Illinois to Pensacola Fl, pulled boats, hunted almost everything you can imagine...if I remember correctly paid something like 11k for it... Im 73 now and wish everyday I had it back.
Dennis you are an encyclopedia on Jeeps! And many other cars as well. You have the knowledge of and "Enthusiast"... which is an upgrade from the "Professional" package with most car dealers. Outstanding for a Restorer. I love your videos, I get educated watching you. Thanks.
Love the CJ videos!!!!!! Please do a video on the CJ collection!!!! I have never seen a Limited CJ, didn’t know they existed! Also please do a video on the Golden Eagles etc. Thanks again for the great videos!!!
He said nothing fancy on that CJ even the nothing fancy is freaking awesome those things are gold just pure gold every one of them thanks for a great informative video Dennis 😎👍
I have an 84 that is Ice Blue Metallic, chrome Laredo wheels, but the rest of the interior matches the Renegade trim. From the color code on the paint, this ice blue was only used in 1984-85 Best I can tell this jeep came with a soft top as there are snaps all the way around. Seats look original however they are shot and I am having to replace all of them. Noting is salvageable. Thank you for this video, it greatly helps.
Hey Dennis, love the Coffee Walk! As an early Jeep enthusiasts, keep up the good work and saving these beauties. I mostly restored World War II Jeeps but have had several CJs and Wranglers. Currently have a show winning 1945 GPW that got a ground up restoration. Question for you: can you share what you may know about the Tuxedo Park Jeeps, I thought at one time they were also considered top of the line models in the CJ family. Possible you have a Tuxedo Park CJ in that massive Warehouse?? Look forward to any insights you can share on Tuxedo Park Jeeps ;) Congrats to you and your team for putting out the excellent videos every week.
Look forward to every Friday. I've watched all of the C.W's. They need to be longer. Lol. Thank you Dennis. I am learning so much. You are appreciated my friend.
Love coffee walk. I bought an 84 Laredo to restore. Just wanted to share I have a 4K paint code 5EJ. It won’t be Collins brothers quality but thanks to you and your team it could be nice. Glad to know I am starting with a rare jeep
Just when I thought Dennis had taught me everything about CJ’s, then he drops the Limited details I never knew. The headliner in the hard top got me! Thank you for sharing all the good Jeep content with us, Dennis. Just like others have already said, I look forward each week to what you have to share. Looking forward to seeing more of the Jeep’s from this special collection.
Hey Dennis, expat Canuck living in Australia. Happy to have discovered your channel, NOT happy that there has been no mention of a 97 XJ Cherokee 4 litre hi output. Bought one through familial circumstance. Second best rig I have ever owned. Number 1 , 1964 Plymouth Fury III 313 Polyhedral that I owned before I left home 50 years ago. Keep up the good work!!!!! Oh yeah, you really need to try Maconah freeze dried !!
as an Italy-based owner of a 82 CJ7 Laredo I am encouraged by this video, I am missing only the original black steering wheel. Would love to see a video entirely focused on the Laredo package, same for the Golden Eagle. Keep up the good work. Ricky
Yes, definitely show us your Sea of CJs! That base model gray ‘86 CJ7 is is absolutely gorgeous. If it were only an automatic with AC, it would then be my dream Jeep. Sorry, I have no interest in chrome, no interest in color matched flares of gauge cluster covers, etc. give me a base model CJ a few simple upgrades and I’m set.
Dennis can you do a video on storing collector vehicles long term like building, temp, humidity, coolant, tires, hoses, batteries, running and driving intervals.
I had a 1986 CJ7 Renegade in the Charcoal grey. Paid $11,847 for it brand new. Sadly all I have from those days is the window sticker and a signed copy of the Jeep Bible by Granville King. I took the window sticker last week into the Jeep dealership and said build me a JL like my CJ. Now I’ve got to wait at least ten weeks. If they still made CJ7s I’d buy one.
I've been following you for several months. I greatly appreciate your knowledge and particularly the history of Jeeps you share. I'm a retired US Army Major. I rode motorcycles for 50 years (since age 11) and owned two Jeeps in between so I could have a toy that allowed me to strap my daughters in safely and enjoy the open road feeling. Airborne injuries have forced me off the bikes. Sold my last Harley, a Road King, several years ago and I recently bought my third Jeep, a 1980 CJ7, 258 ci w/ 4-spd out of California. I'm planning on strapping in the grandkids now and teaching them how to drive a stick when they're of age. My question is where other than surfing the Internet do you recommend I go to get all the info I need about my particular Jeep model? Please never cease with fire-hosing your fans with knowledge. So much is getting lost to modern technology. Thx!
Nice CJ's! Thanks for the walk around's. I have an 86 Renegade Garnet metallic w/Auto Trans, 20 Gal factory gas tank, factory chrome knobs on dash, lots of options...it is in great shape but has a little rust so I'm ready to get it restored ... as OE as possible
I love this channel Dennis is a great guy very knowledgable, I own a 43 MB the original granddaddy love it to bits intact I love all jeeps keep up the great work.
The CJ love is real!! All of yalls comments are awesome. Can't wait to show y'all the entire collection
