The fifth and final episode of 6 contestants tackling another set of fantastic and frantic tasks!
In this episode, Ben, Carter, Henry, Max, Owen, and Parker have a treat, celebrate a job well done, and roll some dice! Also, perhaps end a friendship...

Before watching this, I had no idea what a parfait was. After watching it, I'm none the wiser.

At your age, in your time of your life where you're already busy, in this crazy situation of a world that we're in, you took on (dare I say it) a GIANT TASK, and thousands and thousands of us from around the world got to enjoy it and share in this crazy fandom through you. Be infinitely proud, you've left your stamp on one tiny corner of the internet for eternity. We can only hope that somehow, some way, the Taskmaster's Assistant (capital letters for the true original) is inspired by your work and maybe something you've done here ends up in Taskmaster proper.
oh and btw ... as soon as they read "Annoy David", my mind immediately started going "OK do I Google Ten Hour version of Diggy Diggy Hole, or Darude Sandstorm, then we'll figure out what's next". :P

Can you imagine what chaos would ensue if the UK contestants got "Annoy Alex" as a task. Though, if Rhod Gilbet got that one, I'd fear for Alex's safety haha
I was very fearful for my safety! In the end, none of them did anything as bad as what I would fearing. Thank goodness
This is my first ever TH-cam comment but this series deserves recognition. It is fun, charming, everyone is likable and it captures the spirit of the original Taskmaster. The longer I watched this series, the more I liked it and I wish there was more!
Lots of praise to David who clearly put a lot of effort into this and slotted in nicely into the Alex Horne role while adding his own twist to it.
If you ever do another one, I'll definitely tune in for it. But if not, thanks for adding this joy to the world

I wasn't especially fond of the celebration task itself, endzone celebration being one of the worst aspects of modern football. However, the concept of the secret team task was amazing!

@@SlugbugI think you should find it funnier then. It’s effectively parodying the thing you hate, taking it to the absurd extreme. You could replace it with other forms of showboating, or it could’ve been an insane dance routine, the idea of them making a really annoying routine to perform and making them do it is peak taskmaster. Exotic sandwich comes to mind

You all should be proud of what you put together. Moments on this project easily stand along side some of the best moments from the original. If it's even remotely possible you should try to pull off another season down the line, even if its with the same group of guys. Again, an amazing showing from all of you.
How innovative of Owen to finish the task before going back for seconds! (Parker take note!) Poor Ben, it's like the inverse of the dry muffin!

This series ranks above some series of Taskmaster UK. Phenomenal work!!!!!! Howgently Henry brushed David's hair out of the way before the second wet willy had me dying. RIP to the beautiful head of hair.
David, this series was absolutely brilliant. Amazing editing, 200+ hours of work definitely shows. Not to mention the time spent organizing and filming everything, truly monumental. I loved that the tasks were all original and super creative. You even nailed the subtleties of UK Taskmaster like the contestants seated in alphabetical order. I can tell this was a labor of love, and I wish you nothing but success. Also, you have a great group of friends and I would recommend that you regularly communicate with them after college.

I never comment on anything, but you guys absolutely deserve every praise coming your way. By the end of the series Ben was my favorite contestant. He was a mix of nonchalance and chaos. Brilliant.
And let me also say that I would love a season 2. Preference would go to new contestants, but I wouldn't be sad if you brought everyone back.

Wow, what a finale! Perfect tasks from start to finish: cavemen parfait is just brilliantly silly, the dice one is really clever game design (does David have a history in making board games or something, there's a real sense of balance and fine-tuning), the football celebrations were amazing to watch, Annoy David really felt like David's "sit on a cake" moment, and the live tasks were a mess in the best possible way!
This has been a great series and has lodged itself in my listings as THE canonical US Taskmaster, well done all of you!
Just started college and this first month has been really hard and lonely. Seeing the 8 of y’all every week has really helped me cope- thanks, sincerely, for making this and sharing it with all of us.

Bravo to all of you! The contestants were all such good sports, gamely attempting even tasks that were clearly out of their comfort zone, and willing to laugh at themselves too. And they impressed me with their creativity, interesting strategies, and talents. The tasks were phenomenal and I can't imagine how much time and effort David put into creating, planning, supplying, presenting, filming, and editing them! And all without the resources of a "real" television series. The little touches (graphics, mood music, task presentation, etc.) did not go unnoticed. I'm sad it's over, but hope you all know that you brought a lot of laughter and entertainment to people at a time when it is sorely needed! THANK YOU!

I've been wondering why you cut your hair, and now I know! The Secret Team Task was a great idea, and I really loved the annoying task. The finale task was a great live task as was the geniunely exciting Oreo task. The breaking news was amazing and only enhanced the episode. Sad to hear about the unlikely s2, thanks for the great show and thanks for everyone involved in making this it was really fun to watch.

I don't normally enjoy long amateur productions on TH-cam, and the sound was a struggle through most of your series. But I have to give kudos to David for being a pretty incredible creator of both tasks and studio banter, carrying the whole thing through. Don't know if this is just fan-creation for you or an audition for other tv work, but it certainly works as the latter. Also you have a very sweet group of friends - i wished it hadn't been all boys, at the least (and I do recognize there are other forms of diversity going on) but i got over that. (And hey, it's Minnesota, not London or New York.) It's been a long time since i was in university, but your bonds reminded me of my friends from then, many of whom are still close friends to me now. By this episode I was even wishing there was more inside-jokeness in the "annoy David" task - which was a great one. On a whole other subject - Parker winning proves my Taskmaster theory that combining jokes, artistic talent and athleticism is the surest way to win, though that's not true of every season! But the uncanny way he got his oreo from his eye to his mouth in the second-last tiebreaker really reinforced it. Congratulations to all of you. I really was both entertained and moved.

I would have preferred LESS inside jokes in the annoy David task... at least Max was a good sport about it.

Yes, going into this project, all the contestants predicted Parker would win, with the exception of Max, who predicted himself as the winner. We did the Thanksgiving Taskmaster-at-home charity video as well. I ran it twice, since there were 10 people that wanted to participate. Luke won the first session and Parker won the second... and Ben got last in the second.
@@TaskmasterMN Of course Max predicted he'd win it xD tbh that confident attitude made him one of my favourite contestants! Definitely would vote to bring him back for s2 along with Carter and Owen (sea-son 2! sea-son 2!)
Just binged every episode this weekend... thanks for making a pandemic senior year a little more bearable for a fellow U of MN student, this genuinely went from a "cute, some friends filmed a knockoff" to "I'M PERSONALLY INVESTED IN EVERY CONTESTANT AND THE TASKS ARE GENIUS". If you ever need help editing from a film student/ a female contestant, hit me up haha (though I'm guessing this iconic piece of media will be a singular entity, never to be topped).
I'll keep it in mind!
This is unreasonably amazing. I haven't laughed this hard on a lot of actual taskmaster episodes, as I have watching most of this series. Stellar production value and effort and good show by everyone involved.

After stumbling on this home made effort by mistake (when it first uploaded) I'm so glad I stuck with it for the long run. Fantastic effort all round, now we wait in anticipation for Season 2.....please tell us there will be a season 2
I don't know if there will be a season 2. My answer a few weeks ago was unequivocally "Never" but so many people have been asking for it... Maybe in a couple years when we're all done with college... but I don't know where we'll all be in life at that point.

I feel like the answer to the same guests might be: no, but they need to be involved in some fashion. Obviously college should be the top priority, but maybe keep to the original Taskmaster rules and change the line up...or not, up to you
@@TaskmasterMN I feel like some of the same contestants might be good, maybe mix in sone new people too - like the Norwegian Taskmaster, s2 had some of the same people as s1 as well as some new people.
I don't comment on you tube but this series prompted something inside me. I would consider myself a TM addict. Iv'e watched every ep. of the British version at least 4 or 5 times. I watched the whole series and it is a work of art. I don't want to suck up too hard but I would put it up against NZ and the Scandi. versions as equals. The thought and execution (and editing) of the tasks is brilliant. If the sound issues were addressed it would be close to the OG TM and I'm sure there's ideas there Alex would like to use / wish he could use (secret team task was genius). I hope this opens doors for you in a future career and at the very least you continue to produce content that's so comfortable and enjoyable to watch. All the best from my little corner of Britain... (maybe a step too far but I'm hoping the oreo tie braker was a NMJ reference?)
Thank you very much Terry! It means a lot from someone who usually doesn't comment, because I've definitely been there! I'd be honored if Alex used one of my tasks! And no, I don't watch NMJ. The oreo game is just something I played occasionally as a kid in elementary school at summer camps or things like that. I think it was on Minute to Win it as well.
Absolutely incredible! The reveal of why you cut your hair between the tasks and the studio was structurally genius (the way the framing of "Annoy David" as the last task as a sort of revenge for all the other tasks dovetails with the fact that it had lasting consequences that had been subtly seeded throughout the rest of the show makes for a beautiful setup and payoff). Max's reaction to reading the football task is also easily one of my favorite moments. It's so great, and clearly a tremendous amount of work. Fantastic job!
One question though: Now that you've had some time to recover and consider and progress, how likely is a season 2?

Wait, you added the scores incorrectly? Is the earth still turning? Seriously I loved the “Annoy David” task so much, and really felt that Henry and Owen nailed it so effectively. The tickling, the ears, and the mess were perfect. Owen couldn’t have known this but David was the pre-schooler who flat out refused to touch finger paint.

Great episode to finish the series, although I am quite sad it’s over. The football task is devilishly creative and the reveal was absolutely phenomenal. Up there with my favorite tasks overall.

YOU FUCKING DELIVERED!!! lord almighty 90 minutes too!! watching this is always both so inspiring and intimidating - everything is so well thought out. the amount of ties is so funny & feels just perfect - like that last grape owen shot! there’s massive rewatchability with this series, which is so impressive as they’re each over the hour mark. fantastic job all round, truly. both tiebreaks were used, right? are there any tasks that didn’t make the cut at all? if not, great selection & planning. original twists on team tasks - everyone loved the football twist, and making it more about the similarity as opposed to the accuracy to the instructions was really cool. any behind the scenes trivia you’re dying to share?

Yes, all available tiebreakers were used, and then some...
No full tasks were cut, the one that was closest to getting cut was the "Do something magical with this deck of cards" but I decided to leave it in.
However, there was one additional task that got cut because not everyone did it... The task was "Move 8 hot dogs into that box while keeping both your hands on top of your head at all times." I provided hot dogs, a paper plate, and some plastic utensils. Henry, the first person to film tasks, completed the task, but the hot dogs were so gross and Henry was so clearly miserable that I decided to not make anyone else do the task.
I've just finished rewatching this series in anticipation of the new one. I'm still so impressed that you managed to create such a fantastic Taskmaster series. It really is up there with the best of the official Taskmaster seasons. I'm so happy that you decided to continue making Taskmaster Minnesota, can't wait to see the new episodes! :)

The creativity level, imagination, and dedication is astounding. I can't imagine the work that went in to just the filming and the editing and the editing and the editing, let alone creating the tasks and preparing all the materials, securing locations, scheduling, etc...Well done!

@@TaskmasterMN Some of the appeal of Taskmaster UK is the familiarity the audience has with the contestant’s previous work. We have expectations that are often not met, but sometimes surpassed. Season 1 of Taskmaster Minnesota introduced us to these six contestants, and I think season two would benefit from a repeat of the same ensemble. I now know to watch Owen closely when engineering and logic show up in tasks, and I still have no idea what Ben will do at any given time.

I’m fascinated by the parfait task, because parfaits (whether ice cream, custard, or yoghurt based) are traditionally all about piling up layers, and I have never seen anyone try to layer milk before! At what point does “parfait “ simply become “breakfast”?

No idea if you'll read this, but this was fantastic and amazing. All the editing, time and energy spent on the show and the tasks. You should be proud of yourself! My only complaint was the sound quality wasn't great. If there is a Taskmaster MNII, I would like to see improvement to the sound quality.
There's so much I love about this series. Two of my favorite moments in this episode was trying to get the envelope from David. And Owen at the very very end giving some praise and thanks to David for working so hard on the show. But the best part of the whole series I think was

Holy crap, I cried real tears watching Parker's parfait task. Parkfait? I have to get up early tomorrow, I'll probably watch the rest then, but that was _so_ funny. It didn't help that I somehow forgot that the task included eating it, so I thought he was eating it for no reason. 🤣

Ok, if we can ask questions, here is mine:
Did you tape the live sessions on one sitting? Or took 2-3 at the time?
There were two sessions: Episodes 1 and 2 on the first day, Episodes 3-5 on the second day. The sessions were back-to-back on a single weekend. You can tell from the clothes everyone's wearing at the studio sessions.
Let me just ask this for the majority of fans,...
When does Season 2 start?

That, or just give the season 1 contestants a bunch of tasks about holding cameras and boom mics. They can be your filming crew for the new Season 2 contestants.
There probably exists a small but passionate group of local volunteers to lighten the burden of creating another season. Delegate!
IMHO this version is better than the actual Taskmaster US version. If you get a few more seasons under the belt Alex Horne might come knocking to make it official.

reddit pannel shows has most of belgium season one subbed and all of denmark season one subbed.
will perry's productions (youtube) has sweeden season one, finland season one, and most of norway season one subbed (that channel is how i found this and honestly i consider this the US version)
All of them are amazing. Pilvi from finland and ruth from belgium are fantastic, david and cast from sweeden are great. denmark so far feels...it's hard to describe, but "approachable"? not in a "TM beginner" way, but like i immediatly love all of them kind of way.
Max is right. Flicking something with one's finger is unambiguously standard English. Flicking it with a rubber band is O.K. too but definitely a less common usage.
The annoying task:

Great question. You can look through the rest of the comments, because I've answered this question in more detail, but essentially "Maybe someday, I would love to do it with a bigger budget and better equipment, but not for at least a couple of years because I don't have the time"

Planning one evening for a bunch of teenagers was pretty difficult, so yeah, you're a champion at this.
