I understand it is a personal preference but installing bigger and wider tire, especially in Florida, is quite pointless. You do not necessarily get better traction, always worse gas mileage, and it is flat as hell in FL.
I would like to see a test fit of a tall, but narrower tire. I like the rollover of taller tires on the trail, but not too wide (too heavy, too much tire poke, etc.) If you source/borrow something in the 265 or 275 width, put on a stock wheel (or at least a wheel stock offset) you can see how tall of a tire will work without rub. Stock wheel width/offset and avoiding wide does wonders for fitting a tall tire, especiqlly on Toyotas. You are already lifted and I'd be more interested on fitment with stock suspension, but will be interesting to see how it looks and fits on a puck lift like this, too. Stock tire size of 265/60R20 is about 32.5" tall. 275/70R18 is 33.2". I wish they made a 275/75R18 (34.2"). That would be a great size! A 285/70R17 (33.7") wouldn't be bad, but getting a bit wide for a "tall skinny", and heavier and more clearance issues.
Can't say that I'm a fan of the wheel choice myself. I think the darker wheels compliment the blue better and needs less offset, just my opinion though. I have the same color LC Premium and put a set of TRD Pro Tundra wheels and tires on it. I might go with the 295s next though. I think it sit perfectly now. Wish I could post a pic her. All in all the LC is great!!!
@@tinhinnh : You can call it a Toyota Bronco if you wish. One thing is certain. The "Toyota Bronco" is quieter, more luxurious, and will prove more reliable than the Ford.
I now have 4400 miles on the first edition. I estimate average mpg is approx 22.5. I have it all oem. Last 150 miles trip I got 28.2 mpg all highway. Yours looks awesome.
Personally, love the look and the rims are perfect for the Land Cruiser. I’d love to buy and do exactly what you did to it. Your videos are great and enjoy watching your posts.
The speedo is normally reading a higher speed so these larger tyres would have lowered the speed reading on the instrument panel to make it show the real speed your doing, hence why it’s reading the same speed as the GPS. Also much prefer silver wheels and yours suit the Land Cruiser really well, because they show the full design of the wheel, compared to those ordinary looking grey factory wheels.
I like the larger tires. The shiny rims look a bit old school, but that matches the retro styling of the Land Cruiser. I'm waiting for the Trail Hunter 4Runner. Sadly, they keep pusing the release date back. Don't want the first year of production so now I will have to wait until 2026...
Again, I wouldn’t put those wheels on my blue Land Cruiser because I love the stock black ones. However, I think it looks pretty good. Oh, I don’t have a LC either… 🤫
Do I like it? Yes, looks like a hot wheels car which is kinda dope. Would I personally do this to my LC? Not really. I’ve grown to like the stock height and rims, if I was going to get a new set, I’d keep things the same height and tire size tbh and a rim that isn’t too flashy. Something about lifting it with crazy rims and big tires doesn’t appeal to me personally.
Ruined, IDK? Great info you provided, so I appreciate your efforts. I’m very happy you made the comment about the soft suspension and the WD kit improving it. You comment sealed the deal on installing the kit, and going with a little more modest rim and tire size. Thx
Its not for me but its not mine. If you like it that's all that matters. Lift looks good. Probably would just do 33's. Its the wheels for me. Prefer darker .
I put those tires on my GX550 with the Westcott preload kit. I used the OE Lexus wheels. Drives and feels great. No rubbing at all. I found out about the tires from your previous video. Thanks. I'm not sure how to send you a pick.
Side angle of this rig looks sick, in the front tho I don't like it lol. I think me, I would've gone with black wheels with either wildpeaks, or bfg 33s. But aye bro as long as you're happy!
Wheel and tire combo isn't my favorite. Personally I'd run something closer to 33s, narrower if I could find the right tire. But I haven't found many pizza cutter options for 18in wheels.
mudflaps are dumb anyways, will look much better without them I think that 285's would have looked much better but I do dig the overall look of this thing
I personally like the way it looks. Looks taller and more cool. However, I think like….. there is no balance ? That color and too big for a tire. Mmmmmm thinking maybe a black our wheels like a TRD pro and some KO3 or all terrain with 33 inch should make it look better.
I turned off Proactive Driving Assist and am so much happier with how mine drives. It was making me sick and I thought I’d never smoothly coast to a stop again.
It looks fantastic! With 2.5" front and .75" rear, does the rig still have a little rake or is it completely level (or even a reverse rake)? Hard to tell from the video.
If you're happy it's a win. I'm curious about high gear on the highway. I know on the Tacoma with larger tires we used to have to change gearing to get the trans to use high gear.
Thumb up! I see that you like the blue and I remember 2013 or 2014 FJ cruiser Team trail edition has blue exterior. Have you ever thought about that? 😮
Wheels and tires are far too wide and the offset is way too much. I feel like these are recycled wheels off of your tundra from before that you can’t get rid of?
Question… are you actually “wheelin” this vehicle? Or is it just for standard road and light off-road? Is it a “grocery getter” or a “rig”? All these folks saying you ruined it dont have a clue. I would suggest back spacing the wheels a little more, could help with fender rubbing. And possibly lift the suspension a little more. Some minor coil spacers, or even new coils should easily do that. You should def remove the mud flaps. The purpose of a lifted vehicle is for off road performance. If youre not really taking it off-road, and just reg street driving with some off-road, stick with your minor lift and adjust it so it doesn’t rub, or rubs very little. If you want to maximize fuel efficiency, go back to stock. If you want to build a capable off-road vehicle, look into the pro lifts, backspace the wheels a little more and go for it. remove as much trim out of the wheel wells are you can. all that plastic stuff should be removed. that should give you enough room to prevent rubbing. just check out any of the toyota off-road forums and research there.
Looks good! But I'll bet there's one thing you forgot to do. (everybody does) Did you adjust the headlights to compensate for the new lift and higher front end so you're not blinding everyone with those high power LED headlights?
Light weight tire ?? No, I will be "very" surprised you dont start punching side walls, very common with C and D rated radial tires off roading. Michelin was notorious for that (punching sidewalls). Good Luck. 😊
I’m sorry, but (from a function standpoint) I don’t think this a good wheel/tire/lift combo. Lifting the vehicle 2.75” reduces your front suspension down travel. It would be easier fitting a 35” tires with a skinny tire. Looks are subjective, so that part is up to you.
Did I see in your “car payments and how much my videos make on TH-cam” video pictures of what looked like you as a pilot in the military? If so, tell me you’re still flying AND doing these videos on the side?
Generally speaking, you don’t lift a Land Cruiser because it comes with very high quality parts than you are likely to use. But that can be subjective.
So many haters..think it looks sweet! Dig the polished wheels as don’t see that much in the off-road world. Looks good with that color and has a much better stance to make it look beefy!
