    Thank you for bringing our traditional recipes to the mainstream. I started adding shitake mushrooms to my bawbaw last year as a suggestion from my aunt. What a game changer!

      Food tends to have that effect on us! No matter where we are, theres nothing quite as comforting like a hot bowl of congee :)

      You can make it like chicken noodle soup but put rice instead of noodles then just add the asian vegetables its really optional the roasted garlic would give it a similar flavor with out all the asian veggies if you don't have access to it I like to crack an egg in my congee

    Titling this video as congee downplays the cultural significance of this dish. Should consider calling it babaw

    • @StoryBites.
      @StoryBites.  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love that you bring this up. I couldn't agree more Michelle. We were deliberating this with the team and found that we could reach more people with the term Congee rather than babaw and hopefully once they landed on the video they could be educated by our chef Rom.
      Hope that reads clearly to our rationale. Please let us know what you think?

      Wow I love hearing chef Rom's accent -- great job, I'm making babaw tomorrow, it's often requested by family and friends. I like to add blood cubes and quail eggs too.

      @@vnxettitw4879 Blood cubes sounds amazing! It's not readily available in NZ but my goodness that would be great!

      This is amazing to hear. Food culture might be one of the most precious things we can ever hold on to
