Love that Heidi’s word was “grateful”. Says so much about her living with little kids in a house with no air in the summer heat, under construction. I’d be in the air conditioned looney bin. 😂

As a grandma I was thinking how blessed Heidi's parents were to have her and the grandkids for an extended stay. Also the gratefulness and appreciation that Heidi expressed at the end just warmed my heart. I also don't have that gift of envisioning things on paper so have been quite impressed. Such a blessing to have good hard working friends Taylor!
Nice job guys. As a European who tends to complain about the American timber houses I am a bit envious on how 'easy' you can just remove walls or fit windows in comparison to stone walls. Also I was confused as Heidi said 'we don't have air since we have no windows' until I figured you probably have air condition in your home and call it air. Haha, getting educated here :D
The diy'er in me loves this series. We lived this same stage for months when we remodeled.

That new window you added, the small one, looks like the PERFECT place for a window seat! I really hope you guys make a little bench to put there with lots of pillows cause if I was still a kid I'd love to have a little space like that where I could be apart but still be close to the family action. But that's a thought for later, don't wanna overwhelm y'all. (But it'd probably be an easy project to do for a video, 😉😉😉)

It’s looking great! You should try and match the ceiling vault from the existing room to the new room. It looks like there is room to do it.

Heidi’s talk at the end was everything, so often people don't realize how lucky they are to have someone who can do this type of work AND do it... she's so appreciative, not that there was any doubt, but still nice for her to end the video on such a great note.
She’s everything
We did a major expansion a few years ago, it is fun watching this process again. We lived in a tent on our back deck for 80 days. We finally had to scramble back into the house one night when CO weather decided to go freaky windy and dump snow on us😂. Lucky the lower level was finished enough for the family to sleep down there. Unfortunately our family tent died...
Nothing more attractive than a man who is a craftsman and puts his all into making his dream a reality.

The poor piano, suffering through all those temperature changes and construction dust! It’s gonna need a spa day after this remodel! It’s a beautiful piano.
Wow it looks amazing!! So much more space. Beautiful words at the end. There’s gotta be a way to connect the ceilings. The extra space has such a beautiful vaulted ceiling but you can’t enjoy it or see it when you’re looking from the kitchen since it’s blocked. It would be so legit!!!

She means the air conditioning can't be turned on because there are too many things open to the outside. She didn't mean there was no actual air.

This project has motivated me to finally redo our fireplace. Seems like everytime you do a reno, I finally get moving on a projet the wife has been requesting. Thanks Taylor. The #dudedad life is where it's at. It "pays" off.

Great progress! So glad you “know a guy” who could do the asbestos clearance for you. Our house was built in 1864; I didn’t know how incredibly fortunate we are to have no lead, and no asbestos.

When you first renovated the house I noticed you had some asbestos abatement done. I think it was good you showed it in this video and how it was handled. Also good to see you didn't forget window headers this time. ;-)

I've got a front room my wife wants to remodel - but it's full of my son's car stuff and daughter's furniture from college. When the (finally) move out we're going to strip the drywall off and flooring do the joists; there's a soft spot I want to fix.

You need some vacuumcups from Wood's Powr-Grip. You can use them for moving appliances as well as putting in windows.

my old house was built in 1947 and im sure had plenty of asbestos. I did tons of demo work in that house and at most just wore a basic dusk mask. most people say keep it wet and your good haha probably wasn't smart but hopefully don't get any issues from it, been good for two years so far lol

When I first started dating my wife, she had a little rancher that I was renovating fur her. When it came time to demo, I told her I needed her and her kuds to pack everything in their rooms in boxes and seal them up and move them all to the area of the house that wasn't being demo-ed. EVERYTHING. I also told her to strip the beds, etc. IOW, clear EVERYTHING out. She left for a three day weekend at her parent's house while I was still at work. I had taken the weekend off specifically to do the demo. I got to the house and literally NOTHING had been done. The rooms were a mess; clothes everywhere, toys, beds not stripped, not made either. I was furious. I called her and asked her what she thought I meant and she said she thought Imeant for them to pack for the trip to her parent's house. I was livid. I spent two days packing up their rooms and getting the house ready for demo. By myself. It ended up not getting done until a week later because I only had 2 days off from work. Everyone was in the house in an area that I had to seal off. They had the nerve to complain about all the dust and the noise 🙄. That was 26 years ago and I'm still ticked off about it because they haven't changed a bit. Nobody helps with anything. 😢

Asbestos is a b**** to remove! We had it when we renovated my parents apartement downstairs. We had like two weeks all covered up, all clothes the guys wore were to be sealed in bags when they left etc etc. Whole lot of work!
As a kid with a dad who is a contractor who did multiple renos on our house, I miss that sound of the saw and nailing, the air compressor and etc. Quite positive my mother would disagree 😂
