My dad bought the exact same Corvette when he turned 50! He also bought a Mustang and a Harley. He retired early and he got an eagle tattoo on his bicep. 😯 He went from suit and tie business guy to biker dude in a matter of months. The midlife crisis is real! 😂
I'm not sure if I'm offended or it's just that all the guys from school r going through these exact same scenarios right now. I still think I'm cool, sometimes. I do have a pair of NB and I love lite beer. But I hurt with the weather change. Some people from high school r dead. And I am old enough to remember good TV, road trips, music, food, the smell of popcorn and hot dogs at the drive in. People hiding in the truck at that drive in to get in free. It was a different time. A great time.
I think that's a phase of life your dad went through but that's not really the midlife crisis. To me it sounds like your dad was having fun enjoying the fruits of his labor. No ... midlife crisis has a very uncomfortable crisis-like feeling to it and the last thing you're going to want to do is run around on a Harley. Midlife crisis is more like grieving. Midlife crisis is impossible to understand unless you've been there. It is precisely that you have so many people on earth that haven't had a midlife crisis yet that makes it a misunderstood thing. Anyways who knows. I just wanted to say I have been through phases that sounded like what you describe your dad going through but I don't call those part of my midlife crisis at all. What I've recently been going through was a rude awakening. Lol there you go.... Now I know where they get the idiom rude awakening from.

It is never too early to plan your funeral especially with COVID-19. I am being cremated and have been paying for that service for several years now.... Maybe when I was 50. I don't want my children to have to figure out what to do or how to pay for it. I was going to have a visitation at the funeral home but I figured nobody would come and it's expensive 🤬. So I bought the basic cremation package and they'll come and pick me up from wherever I die fry me and hand me back to my kids in a ziplock bag. They have been instructed to empty the bag between the Minnesota State Fair Duluth and akeley Minnesota. Neither one of them want me on their mantle as tattoo ink or a diamond. And I will be dead so I will not care if anybody comes. But my children have been instructed that if somebody shows up to take them out for a pizza.
It's a funny joke, but I feel kinda sad because this is so accurate. The sad bit is that a lot of older men were expected to just work, work, work and work. Be practical, financially responsible and hardworking all the time 24/7/365. And that's a major cause of a midlife crisis. You realize that you have lived 50 years and never really lived. Then you face the terror that unless you start speeding like a drag racer, you won't have time to live at all before you die. Then you abandon everything that reminds you of your old miserable life. So as a social service guy. Remember to live and dream and make some of those dreams come true throughout your everyday life, not just on vacations and in retirement. It's the little things that our lives consist of and men are allowed to have and express needs.
I am 30 and i plan to buy my first motorcycle when i am 45 and i get to send my son to college. There is no way to fit that in my life now. Men should be allowed the midlife crisis as a normal moment in life. You did the time, got the mortgage paid, the kids through school and kept your marriage together, then you get to let loose a little.

Dude....I just turned 51 and hurt my back walking to the mailbox! What's crazy is my wife and I are pretty active outdoors , so it's pretty embarrassing telling that story! I guess I could lie and say I fell off the Harley or we were trying crazy stuff in the bedroom! Haha!
I hurt my neck pretty badly in high school while sleeping. I moved my head too fast. This was in the middle of track season 🥲 Another girl at my high school got a concussion at judo practice during warm-ups.
It's very easy to hurt your back. Mines killing me tonight because like an idiot (again) I forgot to take my coconut oil pills for the arthritis around the fusion I got at 18. So now it feels like I'm being stabbed in the spine by an old fashioned ice pick. So go put ice on your back & try folding a towel into thirds to put under the dip in your low back. It'll help support it & ease pain. Hopefully. Lidocaine cream/roll on also helps amongst tons of other things.
I think I hit my crisis early. Turn 50 this year. Currently there are 3 dirt bikes in the garage. 2 for sale and a new one. Own a street bike had it for many years. Wife also has a dirt bike. Been riding dirt bikes seriously for better than 20 years. Love it.
