How to layer vinyl for beginners - Layering vinyl hacks tips and tricks for adhesive vinyl Cricut

Layering vinyl can be a super intimidating process especially if you are new. We will be going over all the basics including how to setup and upload your design into Design space, sizing, and seeing the mats. I will then show you how to load the vinyl onto the Cricut mat for cutting. Weeding is something that can be confusing and troublesome for people when they first start out and Corinne Blackstone will show you some tips on weeding adhesive vinyl
Then We will learn all about how to layer them using transfer tape, squeegees and some techniques to make sure your layered projects come out awesome every time!

Do you have a tutorial of how to download a SVG image. When I’m downloading a image it never separates the colors

If your image does not have separate colors then it is not an SVG or the SVG is just a single layer design. I show how to download SVGs and create your own svgs in tons of videos

Does the cricut know to stop between colors, or do you choose "make it" separately for each one?

It knows to stop. It cuts one mat then the next mat and the next each mat being a different color

Does the layering vinyl have to be the same type of vinyl? Like all adhesive or htv on htv?

@@cyberdol9 it should be yes. It’s not a great idea to heat adhesive vinyl for a couple reasons. One you damage the adhesive and two it can release toxins which you don’t want in the air.

No the wax will damage the vinyl

I don’t think there is a limit I mean maybe like 100 when it’s gets thick so it doesn’t quite line up regardless of how you try but I think for the average person you wouldn’t have that many layers for a project anyways

Can you do the layering technique with HTV

You don’t need the parchment paper to layer htv. Since the actual heat transfer vinyl isn’t sticky it’s not going to pull up if you misalign it. You can if you want to though
