Gotta love Travolta’s reaction when she said, “So dance good.” His smirk was like, “Woman, you’ve got no idea where I come from.”
Sheeeeeet woman , you never heard of Saturday Night Fever ?!?!?!?!!??!??!!??!?!?
Absolutely!

You ever catch the reference, you must have, to SNF when he comes to pick her up and she says the line, "Can you dig it?...I knew that you could" ? That's straight from Saturday Night Fever, I think when they're at White Castle.
I love how chaotic her dance moves are and how smooth his are. It meshes perfectly
she has huge feet, looks stupid! those are original moves from other songs too..
@@Ace-ke7fq Shes 5'11", her feet are aren't out of proportion.
They don't look that big anyway, it doesn't look like they have a high arch which I think might be making them look bigger than they are, but thats about it.
And with the dance moves being copied, thats the whole point of the mix match routine Mr Bright Spark, and a huge part of what makes it so iconic.
Well, she's high on cocaine while he's high on heroin XD
Of course his moves are smooth, he's Tony Manero! 😂❤
Chaotic indeed
This movie is a true gem. This dance sequence is so perfect that Thurman n Travolta make it look so easy n fun. I’m still hunting for my Kahuna Burger.
LOL....it is a Legendary movie. I just had to laugh at your Kahuna Burger comment because I always think of the scene with John Travolta and Samuel Jackson. Love that scene!
That's the simple truth Rob, where the heck can we get a nice Kahuna burger?,, Or anywhere close to it anyways.
On occasion I order Royale With Cheese burger and no one ever gets the reference. I really need to find some new people 😂
That’s that Hawian burger joint? I hear they have some tasty burgers!
@@themosquitomaster2181 it is the Big Kahuna burger!
Here's a guy that experienced a long downfall in his career only to show up out of the clear blue and give a brilliant performance. This dance scene made me teary eyed.
The greatest movie dance of all time with no equal. Puts all musicals to shame. No dance after has ever come close to the organic moves, the whimsical hand motions, the tip toe balancing, the paired synchronization, the perfectly matched song and of course the camera choreography. Truly a masterpiece. The only lament is it wasn't a bit longer. But even that is a testament to its perfection as it fades too soon leaving us begging for an extended dance number.
And just like that... John Travolta saved his acting career forever.
Was just listening to a podcast about how this movie shot his fame higbee, crazy
th-cam.com/video/Icj7pgxRu9o/w-d-xo.html made an edit with this scene
and then blew it up afterwards with the movie Battlefield Earth. good book, but lousy movie.
Yep. For real.
LOFL. Not really. He's been mostly horrible ever since this film.
This movie is a masterpiece...... Every damn second in this movie is masterpiece

its cause almost every scene in this film is a abstracted version of or a stright repeat of many famos and iconic scenes from dozens of films from over many diffrent decades all put together one after the other. engenius idea cause it makes for a great film, but theres almost nothing original about the film. no scenes that were from quentins own mind a such.

Honestly, one of the most iconic dances ever! 😮
It's even more of a classic than the classic one itself.

I don't know why, but I never like this guy after seeing him play a jerk in Christine. I always feel it was the reason Arnie dies.
What I love about Tarantino films isn’t just the dialogue but it’s the small details. You can see when Mia gets the idea to dance and watching it back you appreciate it so much even tho it’s such a small detail.
She's "trying hard" to win the trophy, but that's... not how it works.
Also, the foot comment is even funnier when you see how big her feet are. Like some guy actually got thrown off of a building for that?
Travolta's face while dancing is priceless.

When I was about 12 years old we were in Florida during a hurricane. Several little friends were along too. The twist was just becoming popular. My Dad entertained us so we wouldn’t be afraid the whole night. Partly by doing the twist and he did it just like John T is doing it here. The storm raged and he danced. 😊 funny memory. ❤
John Travolta is an outstanding dancer. He keeps the rhythm and the tact during the dance. He's great 🙊
He dances all rhythms until latins(salsa, bachata, cumbia, merengue, everything)
Wonder how many times they reversed the dance.?
True. No wonder he’s in Hairspray haha
best dance scene in movie history, period.
El Kotzerino Exactly. I don't get why this scene is SO popular. I loved John Travolta's dancing on Saturday Night Fever so I was confused when I saw how lame this dance was
His partner's dancing, the music, and his attitude came together better here than in "Saturday Night Fever."

I was probably staring for at least 5 minutes, I thought she looked so stunning, so pretty, so hot, so classy. And then she looked at me all smiley and touched my nose while saying something like "It's Mia Wallace, silly!" Travolta was a dancer before anything else...just like Swayze.
I was a small child when The Twist became popular, but my teenage siblings brought it into our house. It was my first dancing experience. Sixty-odd years later, my four-year-old grandson has learned the joys of his first dance moves. We were at an Alive After Five event and he was boogying in front of the stage. The band leader spotted him and asked him to dance on stage. The boy melted the crowd. The band leader had him do a couple of songs, then passed the hat to the crowd for him. He walked away with ninety bucks in his pocket.

triumphantly casts hers off. He takes her hand, escorting her
to the dance floor. The two face each other for that brief
moment before you begin to dance, than they both break into a

Why does everyone always talk about how great John Travolta dances in this scene, but no one ever points how great Uma Thurman dances? She pulls off as many, if not more, iconic dance moves as Travolta and she does it with 10 times the energy. 🙌🙌🙌 to Uma Thurman for her part in this amazing and unforgettable dance routine. She deserves as much praise as Travolta.
Как можно в этом танце оценивать каждого отдельно? Танцуют они вместе классно. Ну и не нужно вырывать танец из контекста всего фильма. Тарантино гений.
I think this should be taken as part of the scene. She started it and he just followed. And he's dancing with his boss's wife. Dialogue before the dance for a reason, not necessarily that she told the truth, not necessarily that he believed her.
BS, that was Travolta's floor and was leasing it to Uma by the minute. Aside from Travolta weighing over 220lbs., at least.
Mia is on cocaine, Vincent is on heroin, big difference
Thurman learned her moves. They were not spontaneous and she had no natural timing. Travolta has perfect timing and natural ability. Just compare the swiiming moves, where Travolta gives that addedmove from his shoulder, where Thurman just sticks her arms out. Or the Batman sequence where she covers her whole face with her hand. Travolta used 2 fingers, showing it was the Batman mask. My favourite was when he danced on his toes, heels off the ground - that was his gift, he didn't have to be tought the move.
And I thought Thurman's outfit was hideous.
The twist scene is iconic. It's been referenced in other media countless times. Hollywood magic
Difference between a natural, instinctive dancer and a non dancer. Travolta's timing and moves are impeccable, Thurman just seems to be following the choreographer's instructions. Travolta just does everything in a flowing way, especially the swimming stroke and the Batman moves (his description, not mine.)
I wanna dance, I wanna that trophy and you must obey. So powerful speech.
Tarantino is rightly lauded for being a great director of course but good lord his casting abilities are even more amazing. Travolta in this is simply incredible and let’s face it he’d been in the wilderness till this came up. An iconic scene.
