Trolling motor auto deploy and has spot lock and heading sensor so it tracks me going in a straight line. This boat is set up perfect for kokanee n trout fishing. Good all around boat for everything.
Thanks Alan for all your in-site! You've really helped me become a better angler. Quick question…when you are fishing in 1-2 feet of water what are you having most success throwing? Also where in the tide cycle are you fishing the 1-2ft? Lastly how fast should i be trolling using the deep divers when targeting striper(3-5mph)? Thanks for everything!
For bass during the pre spawn I like high tide. I'm fishing in shallow water as they feed during the high tide. Senkos and 5" pearl swimbaits are my go to lures. If your trolling deep divers you should be going 2.5 to 3.5 mph with trick worm tail.
Nice report. For many years I have fished for Stripers in the bay and not the Delta. Moved to Concord a couple years ago so I am learning how to fish for Striper's in the Delta. This morning I was trolling about 4 mph with a Yozuri crystal minnow. I had my pole in the rod holder. I took my pole out and gave a tug to clear the weeds. in doing so I snapped the tip off. I did not tug all that hard BTW. I would like to know what action and power. i think the action on the pole being fast is why it snapped. I also would like to get a new reel with a built in line counter. What would you recommend as a good match? I am willing to spend up to $300.00 for the set up. Thank you. The pole I had is what I used in the bay when trolling a low slowr speeds than the Delta so I was safe with the fast tip.
The best rod to troll for stripers would be a moderate action rod. You want a very light tip and have some back bone also. I'm using a old Lamiglass rod with a glass top and graphite bottom. Just look for a moderate action rod 7'6" to 8'. Look at the Daiwa Lexa line counter reel in the 300 size. Okuma makes a good line counter reel also and little less money.
Hi Alan, I have a question about what to troll for striper on my kayak. I always run an A rig which I usually have a lot of success on. I have not found it productive to run two A-rigs, so what should I run on my second rod? Preferably something I can troll going kind of slow (1-2.5mph). I am usually in 12-16ft of water in the delta sloughs. Thank you!
Hi Alan, kind of weird going into the store and not seeing the go to guy. Can’t wait to see your boat on the water give me you scare ha ha hey I was wondering I can’t find any reports but I would like to take some kids fishing and I thought crappie. Have you heard any reports of success at Lake Comanche or something close to Sacramento? Not Clear lake. Thanks Richard with the red Boulton.
No its a lost art as back in the days a lot of guys did it on the Mokulume river at night with a long handle cone shape net made out of chicken mesh. Put it behind the outboard motor as they trolled along the bank. Lots of work but big payoff! Haven't heard of anyone doing it anymore.
The only time you can catch kokanee from the bank is when they go up river to spawn. and you can catch them as their in the narrow river inlets. Now their way off the banks in 30-70 ft water.
My uncle Less said Hi I guess he know your mom and dad I guess they bought appliances back in the days anyways we’ll have to go fishing with you sometime. I can bring my uncle Hustle 2 Fish
Beautiful boat and great report as always, thank you!

Their are lots of big stripers in that area now
Beautiful boat, Alan. Congrats 😎
Many thanks!
Beautiful boat!!! Debra and I will be available all spring, summer, and fall!!!
Went to Bullards Bar today with Roger and Rick to break in the boat. Caught our 30 koks before noon.
Great info once again Alan. Went bait fishing in Rio Vista Tuesday & caught nothing, lots of little bites but no fish. Maybe next time.
I would anchor up in 10-15 ft water and use sardines on the bottom with slider sinker.
thanks for the report!
No problem! Hope it helps
Great report Alan. Thanks

Don't think you can get in yet. I'll be checking them out soon

For crappie and bluegill, Berryessa would be a good lake. Crappie and bluegills are in the back coves and are shallow.
can you give what lures people are using ... what lures are being used at Lake Berryessa for trout and bass.. nice boat
For trout the speedy shinner or optimizer spoons trolling at 3-5 mph. For bass lots are on beds and you can drop shot sm worms, tubes or senkos
Nice boat Alan
Thanks it fishes nice, went to Bullards Bar today for kokanee and caught thirty before noon
No boat here. Can I still get on the stripers from shore with live bait?
I would fish in the Sac River from Hood to Sac with sardines. I see lots guys fishing there now and their catching stripers.
I want to catch stripers with lures. Which is fishing better liberty or Frank’s?
I would fish Sherman Island or SJ river by Antioch with 5" swimbaits or troll yozuris with trick worm
Where are some area to fish on the SJ river?
I did really good from Three Mile Slough on the SJ river to Eddo's this last weekend.
What's your favorite bait for Folsom Kings?
white 8" agitator dodger with a pearl 3" hoochie tipped with a cured piece anchovy
Nice boat.
Thanks! Fishes nice broke it in today at Bullards Bar
😎
alan do you know anyone who is aware of the history of “bumping” shad? Know of anyone who does it still?
