I’ve seen crack repairs but what I’m dealing with is unleveled floor from many cracks and sag. This was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for adding this repair to my tool box for our clients. 🛠️

You've just saved me SO MUCH MONEY!!! I live in a mobile home and my tub is cracked right at the bottom corner. I've used JB Weld and it's worked in the past, but that just gave out and my daughter is only getting bigger and heavier, so this is the method I'll go with. Thanks!

Thanks for putting the video together!! After fixing my tub according to these three layers, Fiber/Resin, Bondo Glass, Bondo Filler, I think I have a few more months to plan and reno my whole bathroom. Last time I used fiberglass was to repair the spare tire hold on an 89 Chevy Caprice Wagon, long ago.

Thanks for this, just used this video to save myself a crap ton of money right before Christmas. It’s so hard to get anyone to come out and so home repair where I live and they WAY overcharge when they do. Having now done this repair, I can smell this video when I watch it 😆.

Same here. You'd think I lived in Siberia when I tell handymen I am 20 miles from town. The ones that do show up, tack on trip fees on top of overcharging. Of course, when they see I am an old widow living alone, they think my back is against is against the wall and charge MORE. I was charged $250 to put ONE shingle (that I supplied) on my roof. I can't get up or down a ladder so I had no choice but to pay it. I told asked him if he just wanted me to sign over my social security check to him.

I did this once with great success in a bottom color that was different from the original. The only thing I did different was at the wall tape off line I added different width striping. 3/4" to 1/2" to 1/4"" and finished with 1/8". It ended up looking great. This was back long ago before current two stage paint systems! Using 2 stage systems will be so much easier since cure time and clear over time is so much faster. Also if there is any mistakes it can be sanded / corrected very easily and quickly. The final clear over will greatly reduce the masked off paint transition line or lines if ya stripe. Buffing and polishing can and is very simple from the new into the original . I have wondered how the floor would turn out if bedliner paint was used as It comes in many colors.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is clean up after sanding. I’m through the process of repair and sanding I’ve used a vacuum and tack cloth to get as much dust and particles as I can and it’s time to spray but I’m wondering if I should be going over the surface with something like TSP before painting. Since I don’t expect a response in time for my project maybe for other people watching. Im going to just go ahead and spray it and hope the paint adheres. Great videos and helpful cost savings

use a teeshirt cloth soaked in acetone or medical alcohol for plastic or fiberglass prep work, before the fix, then before the primer and paint, dont paint like the video demonstration, go from side to side barely pressing paint sprayer as many times as it takes, or the primer & paint will run like water, after painting use heat gun on low to bake the finish

Thank you for your video. How do you keep the resin from running down from a vertical wall surface. I have a Cracked area on a section of the tub where the wall meets the floor and the crack has moved up the wall of the tub - so I need to keep the long hair glass and resin on it without too much running below - Do you tape off the areas below or let it run and sand/feather it out?
Very helpful information about the foam spray. Our relatively new tub was spider web cracked and egg-shell thin! It needed support to hold up and two cans expanded nicely overnight! Thanks again.

I have a crack that was repaired by someone else they used a patch that now the crack is growing out from it. I do not think they used spray foam to make it supported so now I need to repair.

Or with shower pans the styrofoam gives way and prone to cracking the fiberglass so this method of repair I have used for my shower. The quote from three different places was $12k up to $18k. No thanks. I will use the repair method exactly as pictured here. If fiberglass repair is good enough for a boat it’s good enough for a shower pan.

I can only find in "White".
My bath tub is more like an almond white...or something like that.
Can you give me a tip on how to match existing color?
I don't really want to repaint the whole tub and shower walls.

Vert helpful videos. Is there any way to match the non skid texture?

Not match it exactly but I use “Shark Grip” to add to my material when spraying a textured bottom.

Can't find any Tub and Tile Spray Paint in stock, but I can get Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy Spray Paint. Has anyone used this after making a bondo patch for a shower basin?

Amazing! A little question, Should I use Filler and Skim Coat both or just one of them?

I used bondoglass filler and then used high performance putty to skim it smooth

What about backfilling the crack with bondo before the fiberglass and resin . Very nice repair by the way I’m in the middle of one of these myself.

I followed you steps. Everything came out good. Unfortunately when I sprayed paint, paint came out not smooth, and line . Can you please tell me why? Thanks .

Can this be used on plastic tubs or fiberglass? I've read so many contradicting things online. Im repairing (hopefully) a mobile home garden tub (from the 1970's likely).

I have a large broken section in a single person shower on the wall. Is there anything different I would do to fill in the space behind the wall? Or, will the big gap filler foam work fine?

I have a video here showing how repair a hole in the inside wall of the tub. You would do it in a similar way to that. Foam on a wall will just drop to the ground in the void space

Does it matter what type of foam you use to reinforce underneath the tub? Need a very firm foam when dry.

    • @zanjan
      @zanjan ปีที่แล้ว +1

The foam is not strong enough to withstand the weight above it. It feels like cheese puffs after it’s dried. I checked with the manufacturer and they confirmed it’s not effective to support the weight.
Also for some reason, I cannot find Krylon tub paint in california.

When you say to skim coat with the high bond filler, can use just regular all purpose putty. Or need to be one in the video on screen before prime and paint?

Until dry...get rid of moisture completely
