Beastly Repair my friend. You saved my life. I live in a trailer and the bathtub is made of this plastic with no support. Needless to say it is cracked and water is leaking everywhere. This is the video I was looking for!
I’ve done this before on a flexing shower pan. Rather than drilling holes inside the pan, I drilled at the front of the curb as close to the floor with a long drill bit. Filled with foam, then caulked the holes.
Thank you so much sir. My sister's shower pan is cracked and I can feel the give in my shower. It's good you care enough about others to share your valuable tips. Be blessed and keep up the good work.
This is a great idea, and it worked for sure, however, the flex seal made the shower very slippery. I had to apply a non-slip spray. But it did make the floor very ridgid, and solve the ultimate problem. Just keep in mind that although the "touch" of the surface feels rubbery and taky, like it would be non-slip, when you add water, it becomes quite slippery.
i have done this repair myself, using the following formula, Drill the point of each crack, dependent on the cavity behind the shower pan , back fill with cavity foam, each crack needs to be champhered in to a 'V', fill with the matching product, GRP or resin, flat out, then choose the area to coat, mask, and i used 2pack wetfloor paint that is so strong it will never rip or break, 3 coats are needed, the product i use is Sikkens, it comes in many colours, and it has antibackteria content, so no bugs live on the surface, use a foam roller for a nice finish.
Very glad I found this. About to fix a basement shower and this is the level of quality I need. Everything about this video is good. Pitch-perfect methods and decisions the whole way.
I always used “Great stuff” expanding foam and filled it up under the tub or shower until it came out the other holes that way I made sure I filled the void completely! I also probably would’ve put a coat of flex over the entire floor but that’s just my OCD. Over all an excellent job
3m 5200 quick cure works amazing too on the cracks before the flex seal ....mine has held up going on 4 years now .....the 3m stuff is a waterproof marine sealant ....i’ve used on boats for over 20 years ....when i used the flex seal ....i came up around 3 inches on the side and ran a tape line all of the way around the base and covered the whole pan
That is so cool. Nice job. This will save my TONS of money! I was thinking I'd have to tear our the entire shower and re-do it...again. I did it the first time about 12 - 15 years ago. And it lasted quite a long time. But is was a lot of work and I jus didn't want to have to go thru all that again. Your method looks amazingly easy and I will definately give it a go. Thanks much for the information. I am inspired!
Wow... I'm amazed with this quick fix. I only hope it came sooner. I'm a single mom & my shower floor started out that way & FLEX wasn't invented yet & yes its price range to have it done professionally was quoted $2,500. Now, that is something a single mom with 2 handicap adult children 1 of them with cancer can ever afford. So I started doing it on my own & I'm not that great in repairing a shower floor lol. But, I try. Anyways, my cracks became longer & more cracks was added. Then comes flexi-Tape, so I would put that on, it last for a while, then I'd need to redo it all over again. Now, spray foam & flex tape. Geez that's a work out for me.
Now, I watched your video & it makes it even easier & better. I'm still dealing with my cracks & yes, with no support underneath. I did some foam spray but after seeing this, you enspired me to rip all the flex tape off, sand down my floor & start again only now I'm going to use that flex paint thing that you have. Thank you so much, you are a life saver. This job has been driving me insane & it's been a long time now. Thank you for sharing.
So freakin awesome!!!!! The foam touch is genius! All these vids tell you how to fix the crack, but not how to make it not crack again! I'm scared to drill those extra holes and add the foam, but I know that's the answer... Thank you sir!! I could kill my contractor for not installing my tub with any support underneath it. smh.
Thanks for the video, but the foam cannot support the weight. To make sure , I called the LocTite customer support, they mentioned it’s only to fill the gaps like around the pipes in walls or to fill the gaps around doors and windows. Do you have any update video to see if it was successful or failed?
Just did my whole shower pan yesterday due to stains that wouldn't come off, not for cracks. Looks new now and just hope it will last. I did watch your 1.5 year later video, so that gives me hope, but I did use the spray. Knowing that it will cure to the masking tape, I did remove all masking after about 10 minutes.
Currently doing this now, following your steps… added cleaning floor with alcohol after sanding and drilling on the ends of the cracks…. Waiting 24 for the spot touch ups to cure then going to do the whole floor and then wait 48
Just finished this in my rental. It came out great! Thanks again. I also told the tenants to only use soft scrub and stay away from abrasive cleaners from now on that the repair is there. I can feel a difference in the tub floor so I'm hoping that it will last
Just came across this video how is it holding up years later sir I have a similar issue was thinking of reglassing the bottom with fiberglass epoxy do you have an update video ?? Nice.job
Tried it today, used Flex Paste as like a drywall filler, kept the initial texture and blended in with existing colors. Still have the paint but I’ll save that for follow on coats. Thanks!
My super cheap fix was to clean the crack real good with alcohol, then apply protective joist tape, it’s this black stuff That’s intended to go on top of deck joists. It has a rubbery texture and is super sticky, almost like tar. It binds very well to the fiberglass. It’s ugly but it will hold for a year or so until I get around to ripping the POS shower out and putting in a fully tiled walk-in shower.
Great job. Like the simple straightforward instructions and thank you for cutting some long parts like painting the square. Make it go faster to the point.
Thanks so much for this video I just noticed a crack in my shower and thought I would have to come up with a lot of money since the house is only 3 years old but going to try this thank you so much this builder did a horrible job with all these houses ugh😢
I’ve used flex seal in the spray can and it just came off after a couple of showers. What I ended up doing was I used boating tape on the cracks and I had some Extra rhino liner when I did my truck bed. The shower looked kind of tacky but there’s no way you could slip and it felt really good on your feet during a hot shower. They make white rhino liner I probably should have just done that
That's odd. Did you prep it a little? I used it on the bottom of my 1970 bathtub and it didn't start to peel until 6 years later BUT that is only because I didn't do the whole bottom, just across the cracks where we all stand. So 6 years of 3 people showering with well water and only 20 min labor I can't complain.
Thank you sir! I just discovered nice sized crack in my shower today and a few soft spots. I will definitely be heading to a HW store tomorrow to get what I need for this repair. We plan to redo the shower anyways but not anytime soon!
This is an excellent video! TYSM for making it so clear and concise! I feel like I can really have some confidence in doing this repair after watching this :)
I will be doing this very thing. However, I will use the scraper to seal the cracks/holes and not the brush. A scraper will reduce the surface coverage and will most likely force the sealant into any cracks and holes left during the process.
Thanks more than you know. This is exactly what I needed to see and hear. My shower is identical to this one, and I am going to do this repair myself, thanks to you. I subscribed too my brother!
This works great for a temporary fix, personally I used the tape and it's held up over 6 months, I just tore mine off though because the crack is getting worse. In the process of repairing with fiberglass and resin till I can put in a new shower.
Very informative video. I would make one suggestion on your repair: if you painted the "white stuff" over the entire flat pan surface, instead of just the area where it was repaired, it would be more aesthetically appealing.
Hi I actually thought about that a few times, but I thought this would look kind of like a shower mat you stand on, but the good thing about this is when you put a shower mat on top of it you never even see the flex seal.
Just started this today with first coat of flex seal. The foam is awesome. Made the base so sturdy. But what to use to clean the flex seal. We have well water so it gets pretty nasty.
Are fiberglass shower pans more susceptible to cracking in pier and beam houses that inevitebly move a bit here and there? My shower pan just cracked and I heard a contractor say fiberglass pans sometimes will crack on pier and beam houses that move a bit.
Not trying to be a downer or anything but the fiberglass repair kit that is used to do it correctly cost less than the can of flex seal and it takes less time to cure than it does for the flex seal to dry.. lol.. I salute you though because I'm a flex sealed believer also. I use it as a dip for my hand tools.
Appreciate the video. You just gave me an idea to the way i go about repairing cracks and holes in bathtubs and shower pans. I also uploaded a step by step video showing how i repair holes and cracks. I give your video two thumbs up 👍🏽
I’ve done this about 3 months ago, and have noticed it’s difficult to keep the tub looking clean, almost looking permanently dirty. What’s the best way to keep the floor looking clean rather that grimy.
Have watched your update vid. Still good in 2024? I'm thinking to paint the CLEAR version on ALL tiled walls and floor of a 1945 era shower stall (4 x 4 inch tiles) that's leaking into basement below. Concerned that the floor would be slippery. But sounds like it isn't, and the Flex seal hasn't come off the floor from feet stepping on it. Any thoughts?
Hey, I’m about to try this myself. I see some people are saying that when the flexseal gets wet it becomes extremely slippery. Did you have that problem? If so, I’m just possibly going to use flexseal tape over the holes and the crack. Thanks for the video. It looks like a great job.
So I started this process today. Only had one soft spot under the tray but had a significant hairline crack going along the front right when you step into the shower. Drilled my whole for the one soft or squishy part o found and sprayed the foam into that whole and into the crack along front of the tray. Waited an hour plus 5 minutes removed the excess and taped off around the crack and painted it along with dropping some into the whole I drilled and foamed. Not sure if I should remove the tape before or after the full 24hr time frame? Thank you for the video I’ll update tomorrow. 😁
@@losopadre971 hey! did your repair hold up? i have the same issue with the hairline crack along the front when you step in as well. was the one drill mark and the foam and flex seal enough?
@@jasoncheng745 Yes it has. I drilled one whole where I felt the dip, filled it and also along the front portion as you step into the shower as well. Then covered it with the sea lent. One little drop or so over where I drilled and taped off the section at the front of the shower as you step in, completely painted it removed the tape and it still held up. I followed the instructions to the letter. I just wish I would of sealed the crack as you step in first. I feel like I put too much in the spot I drilled but it has held up very well.
I used your method accept I went from the basement floor under the shower pan with drilled holes. I wanted to put enough foam into the space to allow some support so the pan doesn't crack again. My question is how many cans of foam did you use to fill all your holes. I filled the drilled holes until foam dripped out of the holes but for all my holes I might have used a 12 oz can of great stuff big gap 3" foam? Should it have taken more? I might add that going from the cellar is a lot more messy, all those holes drip all over the place and that stuff is stic-c-k-k-k-y!
Hopefully your prayer worked well. I use one can on all of my whole period maybe should have drilled a couple more holes to add it a little bit more. Overall it's still performing well
Will this stop the crack from extending? I have two cracks (one about 3 inches long and the other one 1 inch) similar to yours but both start at the drain. You advised to drill the hole at the opposite end of the drain and use the foam and then the flex seal? Thanks so much for your input.
I have a shower pan leaking in 90 yr old parents home, they can't tolerate disruption of total bath reno. If I paint the pan with flex seal will it make it slippery? Do you think liquid flex seal is enough or should I use flex seal paste for shower??
In my experience it will not be slippery. My 83 year-old mother-in-law takes a shower in there all the time, I asked her, she says it's not slippery. In my opinion I would use 2or3 good coats of Flex Seal liquid, I have never used Flex Seal paste. I think two or three good coats of Flex Seal liquid will do the trick.
Lol...man i was just taking a shower and i felt a crack happen right under my foot. Pissed me off!! As im getting ready to sell my mobile home. This is a great idea. How long did it hold up for you? And thank you for doing this.
My repair is complete. Bought all supplies at walmart. Cost around $70 in total. Looks like this worked pretty good. Thanks again for this tutorial saved me at least a grand in repairs...👍🏽
Thanks for the video... The crack I have in my shower looks like the one you had(the larger one) in about the same place.. I am going to use you idea... Thanks....👍👍

Hi. Thank you for posting this video. I have been thinking of how to save my old shower tray and of course, $$$. And your video comes at the right time. I have a question and i hope you can advise me. Im wondering do i need to clear out the water underneath the shower tray (accumulated cos of the crack) before i can put in the foam?
I would try to clear out all water and moisture before putting the foam in, or you might run into a mold issue. It might take a while for it to dry up but will be worth the wait. Good luck
I am about to do this now after leaving my shower alone for over a month. I was starting to accumulate mold. I am going to drill and let some mold bleach get down there before I do this process
Love this! I’m experiencing this right now. My question is, how many cans of foam and flex seal? Also, what would you think would be a reasonable price to pay someone for this job?
Probably two cans of spray foam one can of Flex Seal. Should be plenty. If you're talkin about paying someone to do this, don't, do it yourself it's very very easy don't be scared

Hey, I’m about to try this myself. I see some people are saying that when the flexseal gets wet it becomes extremely slippery. Did you have that problem? If so, I’m just possibly going to use flexseal tape over the holes and the crack. Thanks for the video. It looks like a great job.
That tape is good, but the edges will attract dirt and turn brown after a few weeks. It is simply a band-aid remedy. Ugly "fix".
Great job! I would probably remove the tape before the 24 hour period just my opinion, hope it worked well for you
@@Madnais78 got the reply and ran to the shower to remove the tape. 😂 Thank you!
@@jasoncheng745 *hole now whole 🤦🏽♂️ 😂
ive seen a few videos using various adhesives...how has flex seal held up?..
I'm in the process, of doing this myself... where's the update? Did it hold? Is it still working properly?
Yes has held up great!!
Overall it's still performing well
Idk how much flex repair you had left over but it would have been better just to do the whole bottom or not by the way how did it hold up?
Excellent video! can I ask how strong is it holding still?
Curious...How is the shower pan holding up? Loved this video!
Holding up great! Thanks!
Was wondering the same thing.. thanks for the video!!
@@kraiglavon4793 holding up great!!!
Do you think I can do thus to a bathtub and then use the bathtub? Would the flex seal be toxic or anything? I appreciate any advice you can give me.
Yes I would think so!
Philip Seymour Hoffman?
Will this stop the crack from extending? I have two cracks (one about 3 inches long and the other one 1 inch) similar to yours but both start at the drain. You advised to drill the hole at the opposite end of the drain and use the foam and then the flex seal? Thanks so much for your input.
Yes drill hole should prevent cracking
Thanks for the video. After 24hr, how did you make the seal paint even out? It seemed 120 sanding doesn't do much.
I'm afraid sanding won't do anything. When you apply it you basically have to have it as smooth as you can because that's how it's going to remain
I really appreciate this. I can't wait to try it!!!
So glad I found this, thank you
Lol...man i was just taking a shower and i felt a crack happen right under my foot. Pissed me off!! As im getting ready to sell my mobile home. This is a great idea. How long did it hold up for you? And thank you for doing this.
Two years and still holding strong thank you
@@Madnais78 thats good enough for me. Thank u for the info and the quick reply. 👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you! Very clear and concise instructions. Now that it’s been a while, how is the repair holding up?
It has held the fantastic! No problems at all. My mother-in-law has been taking a shower in it twice a week.
@@Madnais78 twice a week...😳😲🥴🥴
@@bigjoewebb older folks don't need to shower every day, usually because they don't get dirty or sweaty. It's not good for one's overall health to shower every day because you might wash off the protective oils and bacteria.
@@JiLomlKoKLoLEver😳😳🥴🥴 uhhhhh, I'll take my chances, I'm showering once, maybe twice a day depending on what I've been doing (work, yard work, house work, outdoors)
how has the flex seal held up? did any of the cracks reopen? has it been fully waterproof overtime?
It is held up great! Go check out my video in the link
I am repairing my shower floor for a small crack.. thank you for the good ideas! Love the vid!
Tried it and it worked
Glad I can help!
How is the flex seal holding up to mildew and stuff in the shower now that it's been there a while
