I have a ART tube preamp that I use with my Katana MkiI and my software (Neural, Stl Tones, Helix Native) with a powercab plus and it has changed everything for the better! I have a neck and shoulder injury and that is how I found the the ART tube preamp V3. Highly, highly, highly recommend adding it or a similar product. I also use it with my practice amp (Fender GTX 100) and it adds so much (if you have a GTX, don’t forget global eq). On a different note, the fender sounds best when I shut off the speaker modeling and run the line out to the powercab plus and use IR’s.
IMO alot of people seem to be turned off from Orange due to their price and inability to shake their image as an amp for shitty stoner and drone metal bands. At least I was before I tried the CR120.
@@lostinthegrave7462 i have played a th30, tiny terror, dark terror, and dual terror. they are all rock'n'roll amps. don't turn the gain all the way up and you can play rockabilly, blues, classic rock, whatever, anything you want on them. they sound great. but i guess people won't find this out if the marketing is not good. they are expensive though.

I'm not sure I could have heard the difference between the Rockerverb and the Super Crush 100 if I had my eyes closed. MASSIVE tones. Great demo. Probably one of my favorite tracks you've done so far. You know, I'm liking these companies making these upmarket solid-state amps, lot of untapped potential just because of market expectations (tube=good, SS=bad, etc.)
I grew up musically in the 80s. Not having excessive amounts of money laying around as a high schooler, solid state was the way my friends and I rocked. I am a big fan of Solid State.
@@sqidvishus Same. I just recently picked up a Peavey XXL for around 400 bucks and I almost hate the fact that my Marshall DSL40 has been mostly collecting dust since. It’s a monster of a high-gain amp, and completely solid state.
A 100 dollar tube preamp added to any solid state will give it the best of both worlds. Highly recommend to anyone with a Katana/Crush/GTX/MG and such. I bet you the super crush would sound so sick!
Listening without looking at the screen with good headphones on, I could barely tell the difference. And certainly couldn't tell which Amp was which when blind. Love it
At 1/4 the price, the OSC100 expands the customer base exponentially. Most casual players will not drop 2k for a tube amp head. My question is regarding reliability difference. If dropped repeatedly from 5 feet, which amp will fail first? Amps can fall of buses, stages, down stairs.
My assumption, from my very limited personal experience, is that the solid state will be lighter, and easier to load/unload, etc...and a bit more road worthy. Mind you, I'm basing that off of my old bands experience with my Randall amp and my buddy's Marshall. I had less issues than he did.
The Rockerverb has that tube loudness factor, which gives the tone some clarity, but the Super Crush has that JFET gain to compensate for that. Just getting a tone out of the Rockerverb would not only put your ears at risk, but your wallet as it'll cost money to replace the tubes. I like Orange Amps, because they continue to innovate their products towards the future of their motto (Voice of the World).
I think you just sold a ton of Super Crush and Rockerverb amps. Great demo! I love my Rockerverb MKIII and that Super Crush gets the sound for a lot less.

I loved Orange the first time I saw then heard one. 15years later I finally bought a GRO50 it drown out Marshall 50s and some 100s. It wasn't high gain but it sounded great at any volume.
For those who want a super crush if u want a bit tighter tone definitely maje sure ur using closed back cabs. It's close enough to the rockerverb to my ears. Which is fine for me. I play more punk style than metal these days and it does 90s pop punk perfectly. I'm not a fan of chuggy stuff through bit Thom but in a mix it's sounds great.
I'm loving hearing slipknot-ish riffs in the cutaway clips. This is one of the few metal focused demos i've found for this amp and Slipknot is one of my favorite bands.
The distortion tones are super similar with the rockerverb seeming to have more clarity, but the clean tone was definitely way better on the rockerverb to me.
@agufish thanks to your review I purchased yet again another stellar addition to my set up, this amp is amazing I’ve been playing it for hours and I just got it today.Thank you for all the unbiased and real demos
One thing to note is the “Orange Super Crush 100 is prone to buzz/noise from dirty electric”. (Just like many tube/valve amps). I’ve had three (as I thought they were faulty) and all suffered from this issue. My house is very old and has dirty electric, so I need to plug something called “A power conditioner” into the socket before the amp. So I can play it without any horrible noise getting in the way. All my other solid-state amps don’t suffer with this issue. My best guess is as they’re made very different, like most solid state amps. (Not class A/B)) The Super Crush has a lot of the tube counterparts (the Rockerverb) components, just using Jfets instead. So this is something to note when considering it.
I think I'm selling the Katana, and getting this. I don't use the built in features on the Boss, anyway. Thanks! I'm not a metal guy, but I appreciate your videos.
Good decision. The Katana helps you work out what effects you like but it’s pretty sterile and lifeless. The super crush clean channel is a pedal baby circuit and the dirty channel is monster with controllable feedback on demand you can roll in with the guitar volume.
Thankyou for this video I've just taken delivery of the super crush 100 head and it's fantastic coming from using a peavey 6505+ the super crush just sounds great especially when coupled with my Jim Root jazzmaster v4 but also I went for the super crush as I just couldn't justify spending out on the rockerverb mk3 head, overall I'm really impressed by the super crush you kind of forget it's a solid state head.

@@Elmonsterhombre I ended up getting a Scarlett 4i4 for $140 used! But thank you! I'll let my friend know about this one since they have been looking for one.
just like i said in Colin's vid about this amp. I have just gotten a Pedal Baby 100 recently because I find myself wanting tones (gain) from pedals and no tubes to worry about. I kinda wishing I'd known about this. But i got the pedal baby for 300 so overall not a huge thing.
I just saw tremonti live last night and he was playing a prototype of the mt100. The thing sounded real mean in the mix. Looked like it has 4 or 5 6l6 tubes. I’m sure it’ll sell like it’s little brother.
As a guy who absolutely does not feel that you NEED tubes to sound good, I gotta say, even though it’s slight, you can hear just a little bit of that extra crisp “edge” to the Rocververb as opposed to the super crush. The recorded tones are super close though. Great video!
All bullshit aside, for $499 this is by far the best solid state amp I have EVER used. I gig with a Super Crush head running through a 2/12 cabinet with vintage 30’s and it will give you wood!!! The folks at Orange are always working hard on getting a great sound from solid state amps. They knocked it out of the park with the Super Crush.
I keep coming back to this video even a year later because you give this amp the demo it deserves. For it being less than 600$ for a Orange head…that alone is insane. But it does have a very similar sound and feel to the Rockerverb. You can tell that the Rockerverb has a lot more low end and bass than the SuperCrush, however I bet with the right overdrive/distortion pedal…you can get pretty damn close to that true tube tone. Your demo of it has inclined me to purchase the super crush and give it a try.
Man, the Super Crush 100 has a much tighter bottom end and a more colossal midrange that the Crush 120. Definitely closer to the Rockerverb sound on the cheap. I still like the Crush Pro 120, but the new Super Crush offers quite more tonal variety for only 50 bucks more.
hmm. i have a cr120, and honestly i find it less fizzy sounding than the videos i've heard so far of this super crush. my cr120 sounds massive and awesome, so far all i've heard of the new super crush sounds more trebley and fizzy. 🤷♂️
@@lawngnome412 I'm planning on pre-ordering the Super Crush head sometime soon, so I might do a compare/contrast on both running through a 2x12 loaded with V30's to see the differences. There seems to be a lot more of a Marshall-esque flavor with the Super Crush 100's low end being tighter, alongside a more wide open midrange compared to the looser, fuzzier and more compressed Crush Pro 120. I have the Crush Pro 120 head (awesome amp) and a Rockerverb 50 2x12 combo, and I think personally this new Super Crush 100 sounds closer to the real tube powered Rockerverb compared to the Crush Pro 120, albeit having a tighter bottom end. The D.I. out on the Super Crush however, sounds like crap, but I hardly use DI out anyway.
The difference is there (well... tubes), but, from my humble point of view, the Rockeverb is not four times better than the Crush. I mean, for a non tubed amp, it sounds brilliant. The Crash could easily stand there with the big boys. A job well done by Orange!
To all the people hating. This is of course not the rockerverb. And is not priced as such. The rockerverb mkiii is like 2000 euros last time i checked. While this is barely 500 euros or smth. Yet still sounds really effin good
They sound remarkably close. The Rockerverb might sound different cranked through a cab, with some of that power tube saturation. But who gets to crank 100-watt heads these days!
More i listen to Orange amps, the more i like them. Have an Orange 35RT myself for bedroom use, neighbours are getting used to it. As to the comparison, if i was doing live stuff, i'd go Rockaverb all day long for the extra oomph, for recording i'd prefer the Super Crush just based on cost alone but also soundwise, there's not a lot of difference between the two
Yeah, 100 is overkill for me. Even if I did gig live most SS amps nowadays tend to be a bit more at parity with their Tube Counterparts, so 30 Watt would honestly be enough for me for almost all settings, I'm mostly a bedroom guitarist. I'd love a Solid State AD30 112 combo, that'd be an ideal Amp for me. However this is very close.
This is one of the best gear reviews I’ve ever seen, thank you for this! Highly considering this as my next amp. Currently frustrated with trying to find a good metal/rock/etc head at a reasonable price.
*EDIT* I actually bought a super crush 100 head and I absolutely love it. I prefer the CR120 if solid state is the name of the game. Slightly harsher top end, beefier bottom end, same mid range growl Orange is known for. The cleans have a more rounded, prominent bottom end, and the highs are more chime-like and shimmery, almost like halfway between a fender clean with a brit twist and an acoustic guitar. The newer amps do sound more like a Rockerverb, IMO, but I'd rather have the older CR120 and then save up for an actual Rockerverb later on. Source: my friend works at Guitar Center in the guitar department, and I've personally watched a ton of videos on YT showcasing Orange Amps. I much prefer "British voiced" amps.
In the recording, there was a noticeable difference (with my eyes closed) in the Overdrive/Distortion, but not huge. You can hear more girth and the tube sag, but still the Super Crush held up well enough. For me, the massive difference was in the cleans of the Rockerverb, it definitely sounds a lot more rounded and smoother... More full?. But for the price difference to quality, I'd definitely go for the Super Crush.
On the tube side, using a single coil Fender with low output coils shows a better clean sound. But you can also use EL34 tubes that produce better chimey highs without biasing to much. Control the mids more and not lose bass response. You just have to look at what your tubes are doing. But from factory the amp will struggle to produce a nice clean tone, along with Vintage Speakers it just will not live up to super chimey cleans like the Vox30.
Great demo and really really liked the fades in and out of the mix with the visual! Looks awesome on the video and really cool showing a tone standing by itself and in the full mix 😁
I have the Crush Pro 120 and love it. I don't gig and don't have an attenuator so solid state handles bedroom volume much better. (but man I miss my Tubemeister sometimes) I'm still not sure if I need the Super Crush or not. The sound is very comparable to the Crush Pro, and I likely won't use the other features. I love that you reviewed this though!
I have a Crush Pro 120 head as well. I love that head. I was thinking of returning the crush pro 120 and ordering a super crush but really all I wanted was the DI out… not really worth it. I can always mic up the cab, no biggie. Also the CR120 is slightly more powerful, and like you mentioned, it sounds really great. I run it with a TS-808 in front…. I love it. I’m going to keep the CR120
I’m not the biggest orange fan, I love my OR15 though. However, if I was to pick which one I would get between the 2, I’m gonna be honest, I’m still gonna go with the rockerverb, if I can get it for a solid price on reverb. I like the cleans of it so much more
That Super Crush sounds brutal in the best way possible. I love it. Yes, there are differences, but for the price point the Super Crush feels like a no-brainer.
With a lot of cheaper versions of expensive things, you needn't look hard to find the cut corners. But here, if all you use is your ears - not look, not open it up, or play it yourself, just listen to a proper recording - I do say the differences are all but indistinguishable. "Within margin of taste."
Beautiful color on that PRS! I am thinking about picking this head up with the 2x12 Celestion cab. I have a Fender Hot Rod Deville III 4x10 and an Orange Crush 35Rt. I have absolutely fallen in love with the sound of the Orange and my pedal board vs my Fender and its 1/4 the size! I have come to the personal conclusion that solid state is the way to go.
Sounds absolutely awesome. I wish they could nail the tube amp response for the solid states. That's still the one thing that keeps me from really loving them. I'd actually love to do a blind test, just to make sure it's not some guitarist superstition. Update: I tried the Super Crush and it feels and sounds awesome to play!
I bought one with my own money the week it was released after watching Dave Simpson’s and the man that designed it video.. Yes it’s brilliant and slightly better than my CR120.
It sounds great. The Rockerverb is a bit more high fidelity to my ears but honestly it’s not by much. I may have to get one to backup my thunderverb 50. Also I see you’re still digging the tremonti

Focusrite 2i2 :)
Behringer UMC404HD, has four ins, great mic preamps at a very low price
@@Elmonsterhombre I ended up getting a Scarlett 4i4 for $140 used! But thank you! I'll let my friend know about this one since they have been looking for one.
just like i said in Colin's vid about this amp. I have just gotten a Pedal Baby 100 recently because I find myself wanting tones (gain) from pedals and no tubes to worry about. I kinda wishing I'd known about this. But i got the pedal baby for 300 so overall not a huge thing.
I run my AxeFx through a PedalBaby and its fantastic.
I just saw tremonti live last night and he was playing a prototype of the mt100. The thing sounded real mean in the mix. Looked like it has 4 or 5 6l6 tubes. I’m sure it’ll sell like it’s little brother.
Wow!!! I want to see this vs friedman be solid state and bogner solid state amp!
Super crush for clean picking and running the delay/chorus effects. The Rocker verb for melting your face main amp
Holy DEMO, more like DEMOlition, sounded awesome!!!
I love Orange Crush models - never been a tube guy. This model is even better than Crush Pro 120H (my guess).
That cat is gorgeous! Nice demo, this is the best I have heard this amp sound.
Great review. I have been thinking about buying the Orange Crush, You just sold it to me lol. Thank you
I’ve been waiting for this one. Makes my Crush 20w look like a toy
Finally got my Super Crush and I am so happy I chose this head. It's opened so many doors for my playing.
The difference is there (well... tubes), but, from my humble point of view, the Rockeverb is not four times better than the Crush. I mean, for a non tubed amp, it sounds brilliant. The Crash could easily stand there with the big boys. A job well done by Orange!
0:42 that kitty is definitively keeping the amp for himself 😛🐈
To all the people hating. This is of course not the rockerverb. And is not priced as such. The rockerverb mkiii is like 2000 euros last time i checked. While this is barely 500 euros or smth. Yet still sounds really effin good
I own the Orange CR 60 Combo and I'm pleasantly pleased with that also.
They sound remarkably close. The Rockerverb might sound different cranked through a cab, with some of that power tube saturation. But who gets to crank 100-watt heads these days!
Attenuators, but not ideal as it will still be loud af 🤣🤣🤣
Very nice job on the comparison with the mix fading in and out.
Katana head slaps once you hook it up to PC and hit the ten band EQ, noise gate a tid bit etc sounds great played back through the daw etc
More i listen to Orange amps, the more i like them. Have an Orange 35RT myself for bedroom use, neighbours are getting used to it. As to the comparison, if i was doing live stuff, i'd go Rockaverb all day long for the extra oomph, for recording i'd prefer the Super Crush just based on cost alone but also soundwise, there's not a lot of difference between the two
I wish they would’ve done a 50 watt. No complaints otherwise. Killer demo!
@@SisterRose yes. a solid state ad30 would be great. love those amps
Amp watts do not create loudness.
@@no_name1107 i don’t wanna pay for a 100 watt though lol
@@DrShrimpPuertoRicoMD $499 is very inexpensive.
Haven't watch your videos in a while, you really took a step up on your demo tracks, this one is really good !
This video is crazy high quality. Great job with the new edits and i love the CRUSH BEAST
@@o_o0_x914 throwing an overdrive in front of it really tightens this one up. Less droning bass and better compression!
I really enjoyed this video and definitely wanna play the Super Crush 100 with my Schecter Damien 6!
Thanks for the comparison section. really shocked at how similar it is.
You are the king of Riffs and Hooks!
I have come to the personal conclusion that solid state is the way to go.
traded mine 4 years afo for a blackstar clud 40 biggest mistake of life love this amp. will get another soon i hope
Great demo song \m/!! Thanks for the video 😊
great demo! Very cool to see the comparisons between the two amps.
Love that you are starting to put solos in your demo tracks. Good stuff
The Rockerverb sounds a lot warmer. Some people may not be looking for that though. For a solid state head it sounds pretty great.
