Hard to top your review vids on the RS3 so decided to try another angle that doesn't involve being a driving god :) Was thinking of you when reading a review of this very car vs M3 xDrive that landed on my door step yesterday a month later than published (no idea why...). Another great video, I do like the "real life" videos that you occasionally do. It's an honest review too - it's testament to the quality of the content that Audi UK gave you that car for 7 days, knowing that you wouldn't just gush about how wonderful it was! Interesting that you pointed out the road noise - my Wife says exactly the same about her A3 Edition 1 35 tfsi. That's got the same 235/35/19 tyres as the Mk 7/7.5 R, but my golf is noticeably quieter (might be down to the actual tyres though). Must be horrendous with that amount of rubber on the RS3. It's so bad that we're seriously considering buying 17" or 18" wheels & fitting Michelin CrossClimate plus tyres (or similar) to it. That's not really an option for the RS3 though, I guess🤣. It's certainly lairy though - fair play for not editing out the bit where you almost went into the ditch! I'd also be wary of using it during the winter - it would be nigh on impossible to put winter wheels/tyres on it (I suppose 18" wheels, but the tyres would be difficult to source). I'm of the same opinion as you - nice car, but I wouldn't rush to buy one. I'm no fan of saloons, but it does look strangely nice in RS3 - for what is, basically, a Mk8 VW Jetta (not that there is.....!). Probably the colour too - I like it. Almost as loud as the previous RS3 in Viper Green (which I'd definitely have). Sportback rules, though - more practical. The big steering wheel is annoying though - my Wife's A3 has a lovely flat bottom wheel, but basic cruise control. Strange.... In short: I'd keep my 7.5 R & use the cash for a modern classic. A relatively new version of the previous RS3 is something I'd quite fancy though - not quite as good to drive, but nicer to look at & sit in.
So, what, as an alternative buy a gti clubsport (an ugly, boring golf) and a boxster gts (not practical)... really? I know from experience that running two cars isn't cheap and if they are 'older' , then factor in higher running costs as well. Seems like a pretty odd thing to say, given there are several alternatives to an rs3 at the same price point, which also offer the same practicality and level of performance, e.g. amg a45s, bmw m2c or even a low mileage rs4 for not a lot more. Also, gripes about the rs3 interior and you recommend a golf, which really does have a naff interior 🤣
Brilliant video love the yellow and that five cylinder engine bay makes a difference in a world of 4 cylinder turbos - subjecting the boss to RS3 launch 🚀 control perhaps a less wise choice lol 👍
Stunning car and great vid! Now with my Mk8 GTI gone I`m about to place an order on, unfortunatley not an RS3 saloon, but just A3 saloon. Struggling a bit with the spec though. Aiming for Florett silver with black optics, but now i just might consider Python yellow😍
As you suggested, plenty of ownership stuff to get to grips with. I thought the tyre-noise was the biggest issue. Driving 400 miles in a day would have my ears ringing. Ear-plugs would be a must. On the other hand I really liked the colour though it seems others drew their own conclusions as to your choice. Sometimes you just can't win. Overall, a great video!

@@lewiscannon8213 again i agree with you, £60k for a hatch is ludicrous in my eyes. Regardless of how it performs it will never be worth that amount to me.
Alcantara steering wheels - why? After 8-12 months Alcantara wheels look shiny and cheap, and feel crap. And, unlike leather, Alcantara can never be restored to good-as-new. And it’s a rip-off when OEMs charge extra - Alcantara is *cheaper* for OEMs compared to leather! Very interesting vid, useful insight, great car, but FWIW I’d prefer the hatch version.
when you said that your`e going to "stick to speed limits" do you mean the speed limits us public stick to or do you mean F1 speed limit`s, and judging by that photo of you in the golf "on the way to work" do you ALWAYS wear your helmet on pubic roads ???
I just cant get on with the styling of the mk8 golf or these audi a3 rs3 cars.....i think the word i would use is too jaggedy. The colour on this is putrid. Nice underneath but id buy the previous gen cars....those are the ones i would look back at after locking them up but not these new gen styled cars.
I get that but the driving of these new cars is far more sophisticated and it could take you weeks or months to get to know it, the old car just pushed on and that was pretty much that.
Great Video! Interesting to see a week in the perspective of a daily driver driving a super car. Not really fan of the new look and styling. I prefer hatchbacks or wagons, so am biased against sedans. I don't dislike them at all, I think most are very capable and practical with most looking quite nice. Happy birthday to your lovely wife! I bet she wasn't all that thrilled by the launch, but quite enjoyed the lunch! Be safe and have fun driving always!
Good video as always. Didn't really notice the time at 30 minutes plus. Not sure about the price when spec extras come into play. Be a choice between this and the M3 for me and I think the BMW would just edge it. Top job and thanks. T.
They did that with the older car too but as an option. Audi didn’t admit it was to fight understeer, the official line was it meant the front tyres didn’t overheat so quickly on track. Of course when they are too hot, guess what happens?😉
No damage was done thankfully, it’s a warning to other owners to beware. Higher pressure on offside front tyre might have not helped as car would have pushed on more than it should have done and corrective action by the electronics was more abrupt

@@lewiscannon8213 agreed, but your comment was why get the RS3 over the M3? They don’t cost the same so it’s no comparison
@@rcart1 In the world of Financing I think people will probably just purchase the BMWM3/M4 and rs3 on PCP more rather than HP anyway, you are right they're not same price bracket I just Don't understand the hyperhatches of today . At least the BMW can justify the price .
My helmet gets worn in all sorts of situations
@@volkswizard there`s no answer to that one...................🙄🙄
Absence makes the heart grow fonder. This travelogue was worth the wait.
Thanks Sean, that’s very kind of you. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I just cant get on with the styling of the mk8 golf or these audi a3 rs3 cars.....i think the word i would use is too jaggedy.
What was the fuel consumption if you drive it normal not to sporty?
35 mpg ish
My m2 has 400 HP and I’m lucky to get 20 mpg.
Are ventilated seats an option?
Good video as always. Didn't really notice the time at 30 minutes plus. Not sure about the price when spec extras come into play. Be a choice between this and the M3 for me and I think the BMW would just edge it. Top job and thanks. T.
Thanks Tony. If the finance worked out close I'd go for the M3 too
Kinda piiiised me off that they don’t give the red stitching but the us and Germany get it🙄
I take my Skoda to Birmingham no way will my RS3 ever leave the safety of the Shires. Great long-term review shame you could not keep it longer.
Love this video on the Audi beautiful looking car but I think your right the wagon
I missed Kate’s fashion advice first watch - erm she is very correct re colour -choice and pretty accurate re the driver wearing the sheep lol 😝
I know it’s is a minor detail, but this car needs the flat bottom steering wheel as standard
Another great video Andrew, fair enjoyed that one.. what a beezer of a car. 👏
What's the white mk8 golf at the back of the unit? 👀
It's a Clubsport 45 that's currently for sale at www.volkswizard.co.uk
Polish people ?
I phone audi, volkswagon (all of them) and ask to borrow a car and they all tell me without exception to f*** off, I don't get it
There are many factors that will decide if a manufacturer will lend you a car, I still get told 'no' or ignored even after 6 years of making videos.
I am warning to this but still prefer the old rs3. I'm actually surprised at the mpg
Same CarPlay issue with the Tiguan R… (One of a number of software glitches!)
Nearly put it in the fields 😝
Great video, an RS3 is definitely on my list at some point 👍🏻
Mate you almost stuffed it in the bush
just shows he can't even drive a car - pretty basic car control to hold that
Awesome meeting you at C&M mate 👌
My son went over to c&m last Saturday , he saw the maserati, the rs3 having wider tyres on the front is weird!
They did that with the older car too but as an option. Audi didn’t admit it was to fight understeer, the official line was it meant the front tyres didn’t overheat so quickly on track. Of course when they are too hot, guess what happens?😉
Really enjoyed this one Andrew, £70k fully specd is pushing it though but one hell of a motor.
Fair play for keeping the oops moment in the video 🙊
No damage was done thankfully, it’s a warning to other owners to beware. Higher pressure on offside front tyre might have not helped as car would have pushed on more than it should have done and corrective action by the electronics was more abrupt

Great vid, away to test drive one with my Dad tomorrow, he is seriously considering it
Brilliant stuff Andrew 👏 👌
Thanks again Andrew 👍
Really enjoyed your comprehensive review Andrew 👌
Small alloys
Good to see the Corrado too :)
Yes! In the bodyshop now, paint all stripped back. Took ages to get it in and can't believe in a week it will be back but the real work begins then!
Great informative video nice to see how it got on in real world day to day driving, but a microphone would be a welcomed upgrade for your set up
Wash that poor car! You’d gain a couple MPG’s and lose a couple tenth from the sheer weight of all that muck. 😂
Just wash it mate xD
These cars really do need rally mud flaps! AUdi should make some cool OEM ones that are rally style.
Shocked when you went underneath how much corrosion there was on certain parts given this is a brand new car!!
2000 miles to Austria and back in winter prob not best start to a car’s life
I dont know if it's just me but that yellow just looks to light
not enough strong yellow if you know what i mean
I’ve got the Sportback, it’s definitely a different level of Idiot magnet than my old M140i.
Greetings from Australia. I'm seriously considering an RS3 and this is exactly the review that I've been waiting for. Well done mate and keep up with your good work.
