Very comprehensive video. I bought 5 of the Smarttag 2's for our Africa trip; didn't have to track down any luggage but I could follow them through the various airport luggage systems on my Note 20 and Samsung tablet. Thanks.
say, when you did this with multiple items, did you get notifications when back in range or anything ?? or was each piece used in Find ?? trying to see if it will notify me on its own at baggage claim, or if i have to open the app and do something with it first... just picked up a 4 pack playing with them in the house... (tried notify if left behind, walked till out of range, didn't get a notification... could be since we have 4 samsungs in the house it was bouncing off another device ?? was thinking 1 checked, and one in each carry on, but confused how this would work... any tips would be great, thank you..
@JoelSc14 you'll have to check the settings for each and set it up on how you want to be notified and all that. I've set mine up to notify me when I leave certain things behind with the attached smart tag.
@bolupona was seeing a max of 2 for notifications when left behind... tried to add a 3rd and was notified of the limit.... probable one checked bag, one carry on for notifications, and personal item without notifications....🤔
Really excellent and informative on SmartTag 2. All these years of Samsungs (12+ Phones, 4 TV's) glad TH-cam brought me to you. First SmatTag2 arrived today, I now know better what to use it for, not just luggage.
NOTE: 12:27 - You can only use ''Find Using Camera'' Feature if your Phone supports UWB. The following phones support UWB: Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold2. (And the newer Ultra phones...)
Thank you! I have a Galaxy A54 and just installed the Tag. When I press "search nearby" it doesn't show me the distance nor offer the camera feat like shown in the video. I just have the various "Tag is close/far" messages and the green circle and yes it's enough, esp. with the ringing function, as I use it only in my house. But after trying half an hour and googling I came back to this vid and wanted to post a comment and ask about the frigging camera feat but then stumbled upon your info. Much appreciated.
9:52 : Excellent video but how does the "Lost Behind" feature exactly work ? When theTag is left behind, do you just receive a notification or does the Tag ring as well ? (as it is the case with the Cube Tracker). Another question : Is it possible to customize the sound of the smartphone notification ? Thank you.
I bought it, but I am quite disappointed. I have a Samsung S23, and the 'Search Nearby' feature doesn't show the direction; it only indicates how strong the signal is, which is also quite inaccurate. After some research, I found out that even Samsung's flagship S line doesn't include the UWB chip needed for that feature :( You need model S23+ or S23 Ultra.

I have a question that wasn't covered in this explainer. Will the SmartTag work/connect from inside a bag or a hard case (Pelican) that media personnel usually keep our equipment in? Or does it have to be placed on the outside & exposed in order to do what it does? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Also, it would be very interesting to see if Smart Tag 2 is more accurate than Air Tag. I see so many mixed results, lol. Anyways, thanks.
I bought the 4 pack and have used 2 so far. I'm going on a cross country trip and have never flown before, so I'm using one to keep track of my checked bag to make retrieval easier and the other on my backpack, should it go missing.
It would be nice if one of the buttons could be used to measure distance during a hike. Is that possible? Or even if there was an app made to use the smart tag to measure distance.
My son lost the tag one day, and I searched for it using the app. It told me it was nearby, and I went around in circles looking for it. Then it turned out it was located in the classroom, which was 3 storeys above me. This was the earlier version of the smart tag. I hope this version can also detect the exact location, including height distance.

Yeah tracking won't do that for a long long time. When driving I'm going around and around to get to the ground to drive out. Google thinks I'm going in circles and constantly fixes the route. You're good in the ground in a building no.

I wish they had a better anti theft mode. The problem with the anti-stalking mode is that it alerts the thieves that there is a smart tag on your bike. Unfortunately, it doesn't take long for criminals to catch up with advancements in technology.
Great review! I was running the Smart Tag 2 alongside my older Smart Tag+ and noticed immediately that it is lacking accurate and frequent offline updates. Note that the tag is NOT! in power saving mode. Now I understand the long battery life which is simply achieved by the infrequent updates and long time gaps between them. I regret having bought the Tag 2 and cannot recommend it. I managed to buy another Smart Tag+ but they are hard to find and cost now almost double.
So it basically functions like an Apple Airtag, will it not send a signal if there are no samsung galaxy devices nearby? (I'm planning on using it on my car which is in isolated parking space)
I got this tag a couple months ago and since I took it out of the box, it beeps randomly throughout the day. Is mine faulty or is there something in the settings I have to change?
Thanks for all these infos! I just bought a smarttagg2 and the thing I was wondering is, on the location on the map the tagg always says that it is at home, even when somebody carry it around outside. I wanted to put it on my cat but, I will never know where it is, shouldn't it be updating while in range ?
I want to attach this tag on my bike to track it in case of theft. But witht the feature "un known tag" how can insure not to have the tag noticed by the thief?
Just got my tag. Thanks for your hints. In application let's say your luggage is tagged on a bus, and someone took it, could left behind function work as the tag goes further away from your phone?
That's correct. If the tag leaves your location or you leave the tags location and it isn't listed as safe place, the left behind notification would work!
Awesome video. I just got a ST2 for my VUS tracking (in case it get stolen) but i can’t get it to work. You mention that in order for « Samsung cell » network detection the device needs to be Opted In. but where is this setting?
I am still confused about how it really works and searches the tag. does my phone need to constantly be connected to the wifi and gps location? If for example, I don't use mobile data and location turned on all the time because of the economy, i wouldn't be able to locate my tag location ? Does it work without the wifi and location at all?
The information of the tag is stored in a samsung server somewhere and it will push this information to your phone when you next load up the app. Of course, you'll need wifi or data for you to be able to see the information, but you can log into smart things find on a laptop and the process is the same. Locating the device, this is done via Bluetooth
Thanks so much for the great video! I just ordered one because my brother's truck was stolen a few nights ago and he was able to find where it was parked in. The cops went and arrested the 2 guys that stole it!
Great content! thanks. The only issue I have with this device is the map not updating as quick. It takes a very long time to locate the device on the map. And I live in NYC. Any settings that would improve the map location? Thanks!
A full detail of what smart things can do would be nice. I just got 4 smart tag2 and am struggling with some of the options and what this program can do with the tag and galaxy fold 4
great video, i've subscribed... :-) everything is well explained... however, i did miss one thing... if i leave home in the morning without my phone will my smart tag 2 sound an alert..?
Hi great video 👏 very informative, but just wanted to know if i use one to find my car in case of it being stolen is the theif able to detect my tag in the car as a tag thats close to him as "something being placed in his backpack " but it really being a tag tracking my car if all that makes sense?
It absolutely makes sense. Short answer is yes, you can use it to track a car, long answer, it would need to pass by a Samsung user to be "found" or the their would need to be a Samsung user. The unknown tag alert is a toggle that needs to be turned on in smartthings. I'm not sure the distance it needs to be to a phone for it to recognise it.
@@techwithbenefits Not sure the question (or setting) was understood. A guy steals Jim's car. Jim has previosly put a connected Smart Tag in it somewhere because he wants to track the car if it is stolen. The thief knows about Galaxy Smart Tags and he has a Smart Things app. This app has a feature, if he turns it on, that can tell him if a Smart tag that is not his, is in the vicinity ('has been put in his backpack'). He turns the feature on. Lo' there IS a foreign Smart Tag nearby, and he looks for and finds the Smart Tag in the car, smashes it, and drives the car off. No more trackng for Jim (what his goal was) but Jim may know the last place the Smart Tag was pinged, and that may be remotely helpful.
great video, thanks. question, can an automation be created, that notifies me that a Tag that i own, has entered a preset geo-location? in example, my 5 year old kid's Tag, thats in his backpack, and has entered my neighborhood because hes on the school bus coming home? i cant seem to find this type of automation.
Let's say I put it together with my keys and then lose it (my keys), and someone picks it up.... So what if the person retrieving the keys doesn't have the smart things app or hasn't set up smart things? Will it still work?
Thanx for a interesting review. would it work to for anti theft on your bicycle?Looks small enough to hide inside the bike itself.please let me know what you think. and lastly thanx. keep up that great work.
Very good video, very clear. Thank you! I have a question for which I have not found any reference yet, allow to post it here. If a bad guy finds or steals the "thing" the tag is attached to (my luggage or my dog), they could simply reset the tag and I would lose any track, correct? It is pretty simple to reset it, they would just need to look on the internet... Am I right?
Thank you for the great video. I just got a Galaxy S24 Ultra and two SmartTags 2. Camera doesn't work on any of them, even being very close and without obstacles. I also don't get the message you get at 14:28 (You can use your phone's camera...). The camera icon seems to activate sometimes for a second but nothing shows on the screen. Any idea on what the issue might be?
Thank you so much for this video, really helped me. I recently bought a Samsung and I was given the Smart Tag for free with the phone and I had no clue what it was or what it did😂😂 Thank you for clearing it up for me 😂😂
how do you find your phone with the tag? I've been looking for this feature for over 20 minutes. Their ads say you can do that , but I cant even find my tag in the app, yet a can do the reverse. The problem with the location finder is, it doesn't tell you if it's your phone or the tag they are tracking. I think most people would be carrying both at the same time.
Smart tags are cool to have if you are trying to discover something you lost but I'm more interested in preventing my Dads phones from getting lost in the first place. He always loses his phones! Isn't there a way to wear a smartwatch and use the Bluetooth connection between watch and phone to alert him with a strong vibration when he walks away too far from his phone and that Bluetooth connection breaks? This would prevent him from ever losing the phone in the first place. Why isn't this invented yet? Or is it? Please help!!!
My galaxy watch is always connected to my phone. When connection is lost (because I'm too far), it gives a 1sec vibration and a disconnecting sound on my watch. I think u need to activate it in settings. Maybe that'll work. Or yoy can try Bixby routines setting up a command. If his watch disconnects from his watch it'll ring. Try setting that up
Great video! Can you connect it to two phones? I haven' found anything that shows how. I've invited my wife to the location but none of the tags show on her phone.
I secreted one in each of my cars in an effort to confuse burglar Bill if he thought he had hit the jackpot when he found my tracker. I also recently borrowed one from my lesser car and stuck it in a suitcase. Quite good fun watching it do the rounds from the UK to Canada. I'm also surprised I can "see" the other tag in the UK from Canada. How does it do that?!
If this is lost somewhere say like if I have left it at a store. I want to call the store back and ask them if it is there. Can I ring the tag from my location to make it easier by producing the audible sound for the cashier to find it so that I won't have to make a blank trip, and can speed of the recovery process. I can see where it is on the map, but I just want to double check. Also, I read at the batteries are supposed to last for about a year, but soon after I got my through the mail, it keeps saying that the battery is low. Is this faulty, or is this just the battery that was installed before I got it? I didn't have to pull off the blue tag between the battery that comes when you initially order it, but I feel like I should not be getting a little battery indication so far and this is for the two that I have activated. tag 14:25
HI there I wanted to ask how would this would for something thats long range like lets say I'm going to Japan and want to toss a smart tag in my luggage so I can see if they come back and where they are if they don't. Thanks for this super helpful video :)
Help please!! Trying to understand how this works for tracking luggage. Do you just put a tag inside your suitcase and you can track where it is, even if it’s miles away? Does it cost you to use the smart things app? And how do you know if your phone is compatible? Many thanks 😊
Turn it on and add the device to smartthings. Once the device is added, throw it into your luggage and it will always be connected to your phone. It does not cost anything to use smartthings app.
It would be greatfully appreciated if you could please do a in depth assessment of smart things as I am new to this aswell I was going to get the smart tag 2 and put it on my dogs collar on which I was after knowing if my dog walker was walking my dog far enough for the walk it would be greatfully appreciated if you think this tag will be useful for me pal okedokee m8e cheers for the work you do greatfully appreciated and great viewing pal okedokee m8e cheers again pal 👍 😀 👌
No "out of range" option? That is, if your phone and your tag gets separated beyond a certain distance, your phone notify the user automatically. I currently own the Chipolo-tag and I would prefer to keep that "out of range" option aswell.
Good video, Question can a old phone use the Bluetooth feathers of the Samsung 2 tracker. I have a note 9 and is only android 10. Would be nice as I would not have to upgraded the phone right away. Thanks
Just a UWB precise AR finding is Unavailable ( without uwb once you're in range of the actual smart tag it gives you a power level metre so you can work out if you're closer or further away from the tag) And to be clear you need the S21 Plus or ultra or higher phone for UWB precise AR finding (fold 2 nor note 20 or higher as well)
THX Just ordered 8 - video was helpful as I was not clear on the features and size almost got he older pro.. Use: keys, dog, luggage, laptop bag, home automation.
Can you please tell me what the distance range is for this tag? I am thinking of using 1 of the ones I ordered for my dog, and I am worried if he is picked up, it may be that he is in a car and that could be quite far in a short period of time.Thank you for your help in advance.
I got a couple of tag 2 thinking maybe I could use it for my dad as he may potentially get stroke.. do you think it would be possible for him to use the tag button when he isn't feeling well and get notification sent to my phone ?
any idea what to try if notify when left behind is not working ?? wife took it on her morning run, out of range for over 20 minutes now. no updated location, no connection, and no notification its out of range... (we both have s22u phones) purchased the 4 pack, she tried just a random one that was set to notify when out of range... I tried clear data in the smart thing app.. should I try a uninstall and reinstall ?? incase a permission got messed up over the years ?? I never use smart things, just purchased 4 trackers for luggage, but will probably send them back, if this is my luck with them.......after the tag returned, and my wife got home... I used find again, and it found it, then popped up a notification saying it was found... before I opened something, i got no notification..
I want to leave the tag in my car as i often 'lose' it in car parks...how do i do that? Do i need to mark it as 'at a safe place' each time before i leave the car so it doesn't think I've 'left it behind' by accident?
Would you need to mwke eure your device that you track on meeds to be charged all the time to stay connected to your tags? I let my tablet die and now i have to reconnect my tags to the twblet but if im on a flight how do i do this if my bags are not with me?

Do you need the Samsung passing by to have its Bluetooth mode activated for the tag to be located?
Thanks
I think a Smart Things over would be great.
Good informative video. I bought a 4 pack of Smart Tag 2.
Yes please. I would love an extensive video on the smart tags2. Also. I can't really find a manual for them. Is there one?
I got this tag a couple months ago and since I took it out of the box, it beeps randomly throughout the day. Is mine faulty or is there something in the settings I have to change?
Mine did the same thing, I changed the battery the battery. Hasn't done it since.
I changed my battery and the tag still beeps. Wtf.
@@trey8072 same, I called Samsung and I believe it's a defective tag.
Thanks for all these infos!
I just bought a smarttagg2 and the thing I was wondering is, on the location on the map the tagg always says that it is at home, even when somebody carry it around outside. I wanted to put it on my cat but, I will never know where it is, shouldn't it be updating while in range ?
Yes, i am having the same problem. Have you tried the pet care "walk with pet" ?
I've tried that feature but still cannot track it properly😢
@@Nolie_forsure Ohh I will check this! not sure where to find the feature
Thanks for the tips. Great video. I imagine I'll be visiting your channel many more times in the fututre
Can i track remote far locations on map without UWB or i can track only signals around me in bluetooth area?
Thanks for an informative video. Nice explanation.
Excellent how you explained the device. Thank you
Awesome video.
You put it in the car
Great content! thanks. The only issue I have with this device is the map not updating as quick. It takes a very long time to locate the device on the map. And I live in NYC. Any settings that would improve the map location? Thanks!
A full detail of what smart things can do would be nice. I just got 4 smart tag2 and am struggling with some of the options and what this program can do with the tag and galaxy fold 4
great video, i've subscribed... :-) everything is well explained... however, i did miss one thing... if i leave home in the morning without my phone will my smart tag 2 sound an alert..?
Great video. I can tag myself so I won't get lost. =) No, but really, this is a good video and keeping it simple to understand. Thanks
I ordered the package of 4. Only 2 manage to connect, two others overrun the connectivity of the previous two in order to connect. Very frustrating
I recently bought a Samsung and I was given the Smart Tag for free with the phone and I had no clue what it was or what it did😂😂 Thank you for clearing it up for me 😂😂
nice video. just got my 4 pack today, to use in my 2 suit cases and 2 carry on :) will see how easy it is to load and use
I just got one and I am still trying to understand the SmartTag. Thank you for the video.
I can't seem to get mine out of military time although my setting under General Mgmt have it off. Is there a way to get it in the 12 hr format?
how do you find your phone with the tag? I've been looking for this feature for over 20 minutes. Their ads say you can do that , but I cant even find my tag in the app, yet a can do the reverse.
The problem with the location finder is, it doesn't tell you if it's your phone or the tag they are tracking. I think most people would be carrying both at the same time.
Great in-depth review. Cheers
Thanks so much! Your video was very helpful.
Another great video, keep it up.
Thank you!

Just activated mine. Thanks for the help understanding its features.
You would have to use the same Samsung account on both devices
I didn't have to pull off the blue tag between the battery that comes when you initially order it, but I feel like I should not be getting a little battery indication so far and this is for the two that I have activated. tag 14:25
I just picked up 2. Planning on using them while we are traveling.
@@OJoy1987 Thank you 😊
@@OJoy1987thats false
Hi good video, but you did not comment on the instructions that come with the tag, I for one can not get the QR code to open on my Samsung s23 Ultra
Great video. I just bought 2 of these, and it's a great offer on Amazon 😊
Just wanted to know if you know how to turn on the camera to locate the Samsung smart tag 2 I have Samsung S24 Ultra and get no camera button?
No "out of range" option? That is, if your phone and your tag gets separated beyond a certain distance, your phone notify the user automatically.
I currently own the Chipolo-tag and I would prefer to keep that "out of range" option aswell.
I mentioned it in the video! It's called notify when left behind!
@@techwithbenefitsThanks! I missed that info. I gonna buy this one.
Good video, Question can a old phone use the Bluetooth feathers of the Samsung 2 tracker. I have a note 9 and is only android 10. Would be nice as I would not have to upgraded the phone right away. Thanks
Just a UWB precise AR finding is Unavailable ( without uwb once you're in range of the actual smart tag it gives you a power level metre so you can work out if you're closer or further away from the tag)
And to be clear you need the S21 Plus or ultra or higher phone for UWB precise AR finding (fold 2 nor note 20 or higher as well)
is it compatible with pixel 3? specifically for uwb
is this product compatible with cycle and as a gps tracker?
please help. thanks a lot 😊
What setting has to be on with the other person's device so it can help you locate what ever you lost.. or it just happens automatically
If I have a Samsung with Smart Tags, Can I use the search function to find Apple Air Tags that might have become a hitch hiker on my vehicle?
Great video, very useful thank you
THX Just ordered 8 - video was helpful as I was not clear on the features and size almost got he older pro..
Use: keys, dog, luggage, laptop bag, home automation.
Can you please tell me what the distance range is for this tag? I am thinking of using 1 of the ones I ordered for my dog, and I am worried if he is picked up, it may be that he is in a car and that could be quite far in a short period of time.Thank you for your help in advance.
upto 120m
I got a couple of tag 2 thinking maybe I could use it for my dad as he may potentially get stroke.. do you think it would be possible for him to use the tag button when he isn't feeling well and get notification sent to my phone ?
I know that you can set it to do that. Push the button on the tag and you'll get a notification/text on your phone or tablet.
Can this be used to find pets eg a dog? a cow?...If so, within what range ..of you home and/or your phone?
Thankyou.
Absolutely has a pet mode that can be enabled! I did mention it a little late in the video but it's there for sure
120 meters
In the "search nearby" feature, my display shows a dodgy 'hot cold' bar and no compass. Any reasons why that is the case?
I bought my smart tag for an upcoming trip. Do I place the tag inside my suitcase or does it need to be outside?
12:21 I don't get the camera option when searching for my tag...
will it pick up if people walking past are only using iphones? for example all bagge handlers at an airport have iphones will it still ping location
any idea what to try if notify when left behind is not working ?? wife took it on her morning run, out of range for over 20 minutes now. no updated location, no connection, and no notification its out of range...
Question does SmartTag2 can excess your private info on your phone when you connected or after link with your phone?
12:11 how did you do the camera thing
The camera button appears when in range while you are using the Search Nearby function!
@@techwithbenefits Hi, I was within 1 metre of the tag but the camera button did not appear, any idea. Just found the answer, my Samsung phone is not supported.
@@philnolan7193 it wouldn't work on my Galaxy either. Would you please provide further details about your Samsung not being supported? I'd sure appreciate it.
Another feature that I cannot enable is the "find phone." I see it in settings, but can't turn it on.
