    I love this! Maybe make a hook or slot to keep it from jumping out when using full power and then release it.

    Torque test channel recently made a power pack backpack that can take x4 batteries, and then purchased battery adapters to adapt the DC positive and negative to the drill. They found that the Harbor Freight 12ah 20v batteries were the best bang for the buck, $130 USD a piece.

    nice job .... i also did this 15 years ago , i used a 7v , 2 speed drill + a 100AH battery and a whipper snipper shaft and bolted on a propeller . used it with my large canoe with 2 teenages and me in it .
    worked perfect for years until the kids dropped it in the water , got it working again and still have it .
    i suggest use a old drill as they have all METAL GEARS .😀

      @@DktheWeldermy black and decker firestorm pushes my 14ft half to displacement tender OK.
      I have some big 775, 885, power tool sized motors, but radiator fan motors are a better option. More torque, lower speed.
      Run good with decent power on 24V, instead of 12V

    Check out the Dewalt 60V DCH773Y2...BUT, a much better solution would be the Makita LXT 36V string trimmer, with 2 x 6Ah 18V batteries it has serious power and already has the long tail part! (might need gearing down for your application, not sure). Trimmer far less likely to overheat (if geared correctly) as it is designed for continuous operation at high revs.

    I know that some people in the DIY efoil world are using LIDL drill batteries to power the efoil (not a drill motor).
    However. The LIDL batteries (I believe they are for a Parkside drill X20V 8AH), are a good value for the money.
    Maybe you should look at this too?

    • @DktheWelder
      @DktheWelder  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I will thanks for the advice! I also think a longtail setup would work well for a hydrofoil setup as the there would be less drag

    • @jetboard
      @jetboard 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do not think that this will work.
      You want then power "pushing" as low as possible. With your setup, the pushing force will be way above, and force it to pitch down.

    • @DktheWelder
      @DktheWelder  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jetboard I know what you mean but I think you could counter balance it

    • @iamkian
      @iamkian 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DktheWelder I eFOil too, and the balance is very critical.
      Counter balancing will only work if you keep the speed constant! As soon as you throttle up / down, make a turn or if you breach with the wing (tip), you will "crash".
      It might work if you make adjustments with the stabilizer, but this will need to be very direct (maybe even before you change pitch!)

    Being totally ignorant on the subject I have ask. Is that really New Zealand's largest river or is that a tongue in cheek comment? Some years back I sold a Harley VRSCA (first model) to a fellow from New Zealand. He flew over to the States to personally transport his bike to the shipper. In conversation he mentioned a well known river cutting across his property, and he invited me to visit and fish someday. I got the impression it was a bit more substantial than the stream you guys play in.
