WOW!!! you sure have been a busy crafter🤩 All your makes are so yummy, your Hubby must be so proud of his new jumper. I finally have finished the 2 pair of socks for my Granddaughter to take on her big big OE at the beginning to December, she's heading to Scotland. As its warm down at the bottom of the planet now I have made a couple of cotton boleroes and now picked up my hand peiced quilting again ....
Great episode Emily! I’ve knit about half a fingerless mitt for my dog walks whilst watching… my previous pair had worn out! Look forward to seeing you next time!
I really enjoyed this episode - you have so many WIPs! Thankyou so much for your kind words about the Yorkshire blanket and my channel 💕 it was so great to meet you recently and looking forward to our coffee meet up 😊
Really looking forward to it too, and also to making pretty much all of your blanket patterns because I seem to be obsessed with crochet blankets now! 🤣
Hi Emily, I have struggled this year, heading to work in the dark and home in the dark. I love all your knits. They look amazing. I am currently working on Red Cedar, it is a colourwork pullover by Jessica McDonald. I have knit several of her pullovers and have loved them all. I did my test for the Orma and needed something that didn't require the same level of concentration afterwards. I do have to get back at my Christmas knits though. I have been so busy at work these past weeks that I haven't been knitting as much in the evenings as I usually do. Thank you for taking the time to share your craft. I look forward to them! Have a fantastic week and see you soon.
It’s challenging isn’t it, I usually struggle in January but it’s rare that I struggle this early into the winter season. I feel like January will be a real challenge. I hope you’re keeping well ❤️
@ ironically I don’t mind January but February is tough. The shortest month feels like it will never end. Our weather goes crazy here in February, one day can be +20 the next can be -20 (not an exaggeration). You never know what to wear each day. 🤷♀️
Hello from Manchester! I must admit I did laugh when you put the headband on, not because you looked silly but it because it was so relatable. I also think I look stupid in those headbands. Your cream wooly knit cable jumper is working up lovely. I'm knitting on the sleeve of my stick season by the creabea. See you next time x
Oh don’t worry, I laughed too! Some people really suit headbands, I am not one of them, but they keep me nice and warm. I have a stick season in my plans soon, it looks like a fab pattern!
So many exciting projects! You're flying through your knits and crochets! I'm so impressed with your cablework speed 😍 I preferred no ring light for the video lighting. I also have the issue of the ring reflecting on my glasses. I'm interested in trying another light option, but haven't decided on what to try yet.
Now I’ve got those couple of WIPs that were hanging over me done, I’ve got ALL of the energy for new cast ons and all I want to do is work on my knitting and crochet. Glasses make lighting difficult don’t they, but I’m sure we’ll find a solution somehow!
Loved both the cable sweaters in this episode, I've never done cables in an adult sweater but have a real hankering after one for myself, so might well go for one of those patterns! I've been knitting on a baby cardigan while listening to you. It's for a friend over in Canada, wish I could go and see the new baby, but the little cardigan will have to carry my love over to her instead!
I find cables really addictive when you get them established! If you’re wanting a little less intense cables for a first adult cabled sweater the Leo’s Cabled Sweater by Emily Chen is a good one, it’s all over cables but they’re less frequent so it’s a bit less daunting!
Hi Emily. Re hubby’s jumper and the neck. Ellie from Craft House Magic did a bit of a tutorial about using crochet to bring in a neckline. She was adjusting a jumper at sides and neck. I think she had a fuller tutorial on it as well. May save you redoing it. Love all you do. That blanket is calling but I’ve not crocheted since lockdown. X
Fab thank you I’ll definitely give that a look! Honestly I’d not come back to crochet really since early 2021, I did a lot during lockdown too and burnt myself out on it but I’ve rediscovered my love for it this year, it really wasn’t as hard as I’d thought it would be! The tartan blanket is so far deceptively easy, and the Yorkshire blanket is intended to step you through the squares, starting off more simple and gradually teaching you stitches, so it’s not as hard as it looks!
@ I’m a left handed crocheter but I don’t think it matters on patterns unless you are putting on words etc. I did find that the pattern hunts I made were stiff even going up a needle however I think sone of the acrylics I was using were not good enough. I’ve favoured the blanket pattern you did and would love to do it in the Peeble haze. That should give a better texture
Is it possible to give a link for Woolly knit yarns please ? I love the look of the new cable cardigan you have started but I cannot find the correct company for the yarn on cones.! You must be a very fast knitter to do so much as well as going to work and keeping a home going.! Your green jumper suits your colouring so well.
Yes of course! It’s www.woolyknit.com the yarn I’m using is their Aran weight cones but I can also very much vouch for the 4 ply cones as well. I’m very lucky that I get to work from home a lot, and since we both work full time my husband helps me keep the home too, it’s a proper joint effort and it means we both have time for our respective hobbies! ❤️
I just noticed you scratched yourself.... I find mohair itchy if it touches my skin around the neck. I want to knit mohair knits, but so far I am substituting to brushed alpaca. This is not easy, because brushed alpaca is a THICK yarn.
I never actually notice myself itching but you’re right I do, I do fidget quite a lot so that’s definitely part of it 😂 I’ve found the same myself, I used drops brushed alpaca instead of mohair in a jumper and it was so heavy it ruined the drape of the jumper completely. There has to be a happy medium!
About the drape... I KNOW! I am knitting Kutovakikas Dirty caramel sweater, but I swatched knitting back and forth. Now I am knitting in the round, with a substituted yarn and in the round is not the same as flat knitting! When will I learn? My problem is that Kikas sweater only comes in sizes up to 2xl, and I am bigger than that but I want that sweater! I just have to frog and knit with a larger size needle. The fabric that I am getting now is like carpet 😂
I would LOVE to see you every week! I do understand it would depend on your ability to make time for it. 😊

Headband…you are adorable! And so flippin’ hard on yourself.

Love everything you are working on. Taken with the jumper you have made hubby. X
It’s really lovely isn’t it! It has been a far bigger success than I thought it would have been. X
So many wonderful projects!! I casted on some new basic socks while watching. :)
Thank you! I think I’ve found my sock mojo back again a bit and I really fancy some basic socks so I think I’ll cast some on soon too!

You do not look bad in the hair band
