Well done on that perseverance with the wedding dress. I always say a wedding is one day and the marriage is the rest of your life. Always enjoy seeing what you are working on and hearing all about the yarn x
Emily, what an emotional watch, firstly along with your knit group, I’m sure your podcast community are all cheering you on. Its emotional because you’re creating such a special special piece. You are clearly, absolutely capable of getting your dream dress done and I reckon it’ll be stunning, your pattern, fibre and colour choice is 10/10 👌 You’ve got such a great eye & man alive you’re producing lovely pieces Can’t wait to see the finished piece ❤
Aww thank you Evie - reading such a lovely comment made me really smile and has made my day! Yes honestly everyone here has been fab, this community is full of wonderful supportive people and this massive project has really shown me that. Thank you so much for your lovely words, I’m really glad you’re here and enjoying ❤️
I think I might just have given up the ghost entirely!! What a process - well done for persevering and I'm sure it will be gorgeous when it's done. Pure silk is going to feel so fantastic as a fabric. Happy knitting!
Well done for persevering! Yes, HiyaHiya and ChiaoGoo are known for having their own systems. A bit of a pit if you fall into it. Knitpro and Lykke are compatible. And don’t forget you can join cables for longer lengths too. Keep going Emily! 📣
I wish I’d just googled before ploughing in and ordering, that would have helped me no end 🤦🏻♀️😂 well lesson learned, look before you leap! I didn’t even think of the longer cables, I do have connectors I could have used too. Every day is a school day! ❤️
Hi Emily lovely to catch up with you, I love your podcasts. My husband and I had a register office wedding as we don't like a lot of fuss, we just had parents and close friends at ours and it was lovely. Been married 45 years now. Love that your knitting your own wedding dress, so exciting. xxx
That’s exactly our plan Marion and I can’t wait, it’s just absolutely perfect for us. It makes me really happy to see everyone else’s stories of their low key weddings! Xx
I’m working on my Melides dress at the moment and I just wanted to say i had the exact same experience!! Not even sure how many times I cast on, realized it was too big and ripped it out. I’m a loose knitter and I’ve ended up on 2.25mm. Anyway great job! you’re not alone!!
I am so happy to see you again! So sorry though to hear what you went through with your dress... it's nice that it is now making progress and it is fitting you well! I really like both your finished tees, especially your Reveries tee, it took a long time but it is wonderful! The drape! Have fun with your dress 🥰, that's why you are doing it!
Both tees are really lovely, and you’re exactly right with the Reveries - it’s a time investment but it’s such a beautiful finished piece, it was worth every stitch! ❤️
Really love the tops you finished! My partner and I had a very similar “wedding” and it’s been over 30+years; Too many of my friends had the whole big expensive she-bang and truthfully is was all the stress and costs that really scared me. I wasn’t knitting back then but I did wear a beautiful lace skirt suit that I found on a fabulous sale and my bouquet was stunning white ranunculus. 😊
So many people who I’ve spoken to have said they wished they didn’t go all out for the one day - I was settled in our choice anyway but I’m even more happy with it knowing that actually I think it’s what a lot of people do because it’s what’s “expected”. I’m also going to get myself a fairly simple but stunning bouquet and let that and the dress be the centrepieces 🙂
Loved this podcast … and so many shared experiences 😊 My home is also not too far from York and I’ve been test knitting alongside you on the Reveries and Tendreil tees and also the Melides dress. I also share your recommendations of the patterns and the lovely designers! PS I knit my Melides body three times before I got it right but now it’s flying! Happy Monday and happy knitting!🧶
What a small world! We also have very similar taste in test knits it seems (also very glad to hear I’m not the only one who had challenges getting gauge, I know a few of us did but hopefully mine will fly now too!) ❤️
Wow you've been a busy bee! Lots of progress on your wips! I'm sorry to hear you had so many false starts on your Melides dress 😢 I remember Knits by Mandy had lots of trouble with gauge too and she parked the project because she got too frustrated. I hope things go a lot smoother now that your gauge issue has been sorted 🤞🏼❤
So far so good 🤞I’ve been working on it since filming, I’ve got a good couple of inches on it now and it looks like my gauge is good so I hope it keeps going that way! Honestly it’s sheer stubbornness at this point because of what I’m making it for, if I’d just been knitting it as normal I think I’d have parked it too. Hopefully it’s going the right way now! ❤️
Me again - I should probably have waited till I finished the video before leaving a comment 😂 Kelly Menzies at Row Row and Kades put a tutorial on her TH-cam recently where she showed a much easier way to do a K4tog and maybe the SssK equivalent too. I haven't used it, but it looked great. Might be easier on the hands!
Ooooh I’ll look this up! Thank you ☺️ (and don’t worry, I’m a nightmare for not waiting til the end to comment then leaving multiple 😂😂 I’m just too enthusiastic!)
Hi Emily, Congratulations on setting your wedding date. Your wedding dress is going to be fantastic. I look forward to seeing it. Love the crochet cardigan. I have also gotten back into crochet. I have never made clothing but will look at that pattern. Take care and have a wonderful week.
I’ve never really made crochet clothing either, I’ve made two or three things before but ended up frogging and not wearing them, other than one massive crochet cardigan that ended up almost coming to the floor because it grew so much when I blocked it - but there are some really lovely patterns on there, and it’s very much satisfying the crochet itch!
😂 I just finished a tee, the Anker tee. It was a pattern I was gifted. I used a DK weight yarn that was 50% silk and 50% wool. It had been in my stash for maybe 10 years 🤷♀️. I bought it when a yarn store closed for next to nothing. I had no plans. Anyway knit that up this past month and it grew so much. It should be resting just above my hips but grew to be past my bum. I will never wear it so now I’m trying to figure out how to turn it into a floor pillow. I was so careful in the blocking too but… All that to say I feel you with the growing of finished objects.
@@katherinehill3958 oh no I feel that disappointment for you. There’s no this worse is there, especially when it’s such a lovely yarn like that. What a shame, I bet it was a lot of work too! I fully intend to not properly block this cardigan because I don’t want to have the same issue again 😂
The Jantje tee looks gorgeous, love the sleeves! I am new to your podcast but just wanted to say, I appreciate you mentioning the cost of your knits. I'm a knitter on a budget so I find that really helpful. Going to keep an eye out for that Stylecraft yarn. Thank you!
Stylecraft have some really fab yarns and they’re all definitely affordable! I’m glad you appreciate it, I’m in a position now where I can afford to spend a little more on yarns but when I started out I really was on a budget and I still don’t like to go all out now, I just can’t justify it and it ruins the knitting experience for me. I’m glad everyone enjoys me sharing the cost and coming at it from a budget perspective! ❤️
@@emily_knits_ thank you, yes, very much! I usually add up the approx cost of yarn for a project before I buy it, and if it's more expensive than I could buy the garment at on average from a decent shop, then I cant justify it really. But I am just casting on the Este tee with beautiful hand dyed yarn that I would never have bought for a garment, but was given a gift of money, so treated myself 🤭 Anyway, yes, thanks again for the budget info. Really enjoying your podcast!

I think you are incredibly brave carrying on with the wedding dress. Keep on ‘cooking with gas’!!

You have some patience, glad you're on track now with wedding dress. Exciting times ahead for you, enjoy every moment.
The patience is purely because I’m being stubborn, and it’s about the only thing that’s kept me going with the cast ons! Thank you ❤️
