Hi, your rugby top is gorgeous, please finish! 🥰 your Ali top is amazing to, but, yes, it is a little spacious on you, and if you feel now that it is a little oversized, no matter how gorgeous, will you ever wear it ? thanks for your fun filled podcasts, I wish for you a happy new year filled with lots of time for your lovely knitting ❤ 🙏
Congratulations on a year of podcasting! I love the rugby top on you, it's the kind of style that looks so much better oversized! The cream colourwork jumper could be frogged and re-knitted in your new size. I've got quite a few wips now as I had a few before Christmas and have now cast on 9 of my planned 12 cast ons 🤯 A few are small projects that should get done soon, I've got a couple of second socks on the list too. I'm looking forward to spending another year watching your progress and projects and chatting here and on Instagram.
Massive congratulations on 1 year of TH-cam! Yours have quickly become some of my favourite videos 😁 I vote to keep going with the rugby style top, it suits you so well! The Ali’s Sweater Light I personally think would work oversized, but I think if you have reservations then frog it because you’ll never reach for it if you don’t feel comfortable with the fit… you could always start again..? It is beautiful! Looking forward to your 2025 videos 🧶 I have no idea how you keep track of all your WIPs, I am a very monogamous crafter! Have been crocheting for just over a year and just started knitting this week (a baby onesie) - so far it feels very tricky, but I think that’s because of how comfortable I’ve become with crochet!
Honestly, sometimes I don’t keep track of the WIPs! I could do with a few less I think, I would feel a bit better with a slightly lower number I think 😅 thank you for your lovely comments, glad you’ve been enjoying it!
Definitely finish the polo shirt, it's going to look great with the oversized fit! The colourwork jumper is beautiful but if you're not happy with the fit you probably won't reach for it, I would be tempted to rip it out and use that yarn combo in something else. Just to point out - if you have 12 wips, you only need to finish one a month to get them all crossed off by the end of the year! x
Hi from (probably) subscriber 999 or 1000 or 1001 or so :) Really enjoyed seeing all the WIPs, so many beautiful patterns! I'm a mostly monogamous knitter, usually 1 garment and maybe 1 pair of vanilla socks on the needles. If the sock has a more intricate pattern, I stick with only that and the other way round, so I'd say I really only have 1 real project on the needles most of the time. I'd actually love to have a few more WIPs going at this point in my life, because I'm very busy and very stressed, and casting on a new pattern feels like mental "work" that I don't always have the energy and time for these days. Maybe not 12, but 4-5 projects would be perfect to dip my toes in polyWIPory, haha! The polo looks fantastic, over-oversized or not. Just think how cozy you'd be in this! Too big always gets more wear than too small in my experience. I might be the odd one out here in terms of public opinion, but I'm also in camp "crack on" for the Ali sweater... It does look a little big, but I'd tink back a few rounds to the underarm split (that's not much, right?), and then cast on fewer stitches under the arm on the side of the body (hope I'm making sense!). The only thing you'd need to watch out for would be to line up the colourwork pattern so it doesn't end up being offset. You could easily get a few inches off the body like that. Of course the issue of excess fabric across the upper arm (=technically still part of the yoke, not the sleeve) would remain because you obviously can't take out Raglan increases without ripping back the sleeves. But it might still make a big difference and not take that much time, so you could at least give it a try! Then again, take my opinion with a grain of salt - I quite like wearing slightly oversized things... Looking forward to seeing all those pretties continued in 2025! Good luck with going Cold Sheep! Trying to put myself on a (gentle) yarn ban, too, but I know a no-buy policy would only end in me disappointing myself. See you around! :)
Happy Podcast Anniversary! I do really like your Winona Polo. It looks like you're ready to head out to a game. So fun! I would frog the tidepool rectangle tee. I just don't think you love it, and I don't think you'll enjoy the finished object. If you are enjoying the stitch pattern, I would turn it into a pillow cover as is or a blanket if you have a lot more of the yarn. I absolutely love the Ali's Sweater Light. I don't think oversized is necessarily a bad thing. I just adore that colorwork and you've come so far! It looks like a beautiful comfy sweater that would cheer you up on a sick day. I think it would be a bit of a nightmare to frog it. Now go finish your husband's gloves because he's absolutely worth it! ❤🧶
The polo is great isn’t it, even editing the video I was just enjoying looking at it! I think I’ll definitely get that back in the needles. You’re right about the tide pool tee and I’m not even sure if I’m that invested in the yarn to want to frog it. Jury is still out on if that one is just going to be thrown in the bin! 😂
Happy anniversary Emily! 🎉 It was such a fun romp going through all your wips! You should absolutely finish the rugby polo!!! The oversized fit looks so good and the colours are so eclectic and cozy 🧡💙🤎 I agree with you that the Ali's Sweater Light is too big, but would you mind having it as an oversized sweater? It makes it cozier, even if you know it fit better before. I don't think you'll make it again if you frog it now. You could always try knitting the start of the second sleeve and maybe another inch or two of the body to get a better idea of fit before you choose to frog or keep. I feel the same way as you about advent yarns -- I tried a couple times and they just aren't for me, especially at the price point. I saw a quote recently the really summed up advent calendars and why I don't like them: if you want to buy a yarn advent, you have to be okay with not liking what you get. And that's why I don't like advents anymore, because I was never okay with not liking what I got 😂 I also never know what to do with the minis because I typically don't make scrappy knits. I've currently got 6 WIPs currently and I've been sharing my time pretty well amongst them 😊
Thank you! The more I think about the polo the more I’ve decided it’s staying - I am really fighting the urge to get it back on the needles already! I’ve told myself once I’ve finished one of my garment WIPs I can do it. You are completely correct as well that if I frog the Ali’s Sweater now I won’t make it again, I know myself well enough to know that 🤣 a few people have suggested ripping back and since I wasn’t happy with my colourwork on the sleeves that might be two birds with one stone, or like you said there’s nothing wrong with an oversized cozy sweater! So I think I’ll either finish or finish with adjustments. It would be a shame to not finish it now even if it ends up being a cosy at home sweater. That’s an extremely good way to describe advent calendars - I’m not ok with not liking what I’ve got, especially when they’re so expensive. And I’ve had exactly the same as you in that I don’t know what to do with the minis now as I don’t enjoy scrappy projects as much as some people do!
Happy podiversary and good luck with your finishing goals! You really seem to love your rugby too as it is so I'd vote for finishing it. It looks super comfy and cool!
Wow, that's a lot! I usually only have one or two WIPs at a time, so that would be so overwhelming for me. Maybe you could schedule a month to focus on them and sort of plan out your year so you could get most of them finished?? Just a thought. You're so far on those two sweaters, I vote for finishing! You can always wear around the house as sweatshirt type.
This was a lovely podcast to watch and I loved seeing all these new to me patterns. You must carry on with the rugby top, it's the most perfect oversized sweater, plus i think the colours look amazing all together. I'm gutted for you with the colourwork sweater as that is equally stunning but if you honestly don't think you would wear it.....such a tricky one and I'm aware I've not been helpful there at all. Lovely episode.x.😊❤
I’ve had a lot of similarly unhelpful comments, don’t worry 🤣 I’ve decided to finish the rugby top for certain and I’ve had some fantastic suggestions on ways to fix the colourwork without having to start it all over again so I’m hoping it’s fixable! Glad you enjoyed it ❤️ x
I'm wearing the Winona Polo heavyweight edition as I'm watching this. I made it to use up some chunky wool I got from a couple of Hobbii mystery bags (an addiction akin to advents unfortunately 😂 ), and I LOVE it. It's a great pattern, I would make it again and it's my staple winter around the house jumper for this year. I understand the size issue as I'm on a strict diet myself and have lost over 2 stone since November, YAY!, but it looks great oversized and I think it suits you a lot. Edit to add: The Ali's Sweater is lovely and I've saved it, lol. Seeing it on you, yes, I would frog and make it smaller.
I was also thinking of making a heavyweight version of the Winona - isn’t it a fab pattern?! I’ve very definitely decided to keep that one and get it back on to the needles. Don’t tempt me with hobbii mystery bags, they sound like something I’d love the idea of and then end up destashing (which seem to be my favourite things honestly! 🤣)
I vote for that too 😂. The colors and thick n thin stripes make it look so mesmerising as well. It's a polo anyway so it can be used as an everyday, quite literally everyday 😆, sweater/sweatshirt as well.
Keep the polo shirt have loved the last year ,onwards and upwards .i have a pair of socks and a pair of mittens on the go when I finish the mittens i am going to start the moby sweater ❤
Please finish the rugby top - those things are meant to be massively oversized anyway. The Ali sweater is so gorgeous - if it were me, I would frog it and re-knit in a smaller size. It's too lovely not to have in your wardrobe. The grey rectangular one (sorry, can't remember the name) - might make a table runner? What a collection though. I'm a finisher though - if I start something I have to finish it. And my only wip at the moment is a pair of baby dungarees as one of my daughters is pregnant. Great poscast xx
Most everyone has said what I thought with the Ali swearer. I hope you keep it! And the polo sweater is super cute even super oversized. I no longer do monthly yarn clubs or advent kits because I realized sorting through my stash before my move that almost every skien I wanted to destash was club yarns. I believe I have 8 yarn wips, but I also have 2 cross stitch wips, an EPP wip, 3 spinning wips, and a couple of embroidery wips. I tried so hard not to carry things over this year, but, well...oops 😂 Congrats on one year! Looking forward to this years podcasts.
Keep the rugby pullover. The raglan needs to be re-knitted. It’s a beautiful pullover. I’m doing the 12 cast ons, and I have 8 WIPs. Lol….so 20! I do have a plan in place, and I will not start anything else. Great podcast.
Keep going with both I say, they are both so gorgeous! I had 10 wips that were coming into 2025 until I frogged 2 and completed 3… just cast a new one on so I’m on 6 😊 I need something small too so there will be some socks soon too 😂
I think the rugby shirt looks fantastic oversized, please do keep going with that one! The Ali's sweater doesnt look as good oversized, but would it work to pull back to before the split for sleeves and make the yoke shallower and have a lower stitch count with less decreases? It still would be more knitting, but not as much as doing the whole sweater again. It's so gorgeous, really hope you can work something out for it!
I’m leaning towards exactly that for the Ali’s sweater, since I wasn’t happy with the colourwork on the sleeve I wanted to redo that anyway so I think if I pull back the raglan a bit and then re do both sleeves and the body, I should be able to get a good fit and the bulk of the hard work of the yoke is already done.
Congrats on the year anniversary! Newish subscriber and I’ve enjoyed you plans for using stash and getting wips done. I’m planning on doing the same. I honestly don’t know how many wips I have, more than 10 for sure. I would definitely do the polo shirt but not the color work one (it’s too big). That’s the issue with sizing-I’ve had to give away quite a few sweater due to weight loss and am planning on re-knitting a couple of others. Happy New Year!
Your projects are so inspiring! I think you should finish the polo for sure. The colorwork sweater is gorgeous. Can you frog back enough to shorten the raglan and then continue? I’m working on my oldest WIP, a half and half that I started for my daughter in 2023. I have 34 more rows. Her birthday is at the end of the month and I will finish in time. I have 3 HO socks which is very odd for me but gift knitting got me off track. My other 2 WIPs are blankets - a Tunisian crochet block inspired by Kirsty of Wool and Wishes. My plan is to spend February joining 120 blocks. The other is a scrap crocheted blanket with my handspun leftovers that will continue probably forever. Happy New Year!
Someone else suggested shortening the raglan and I don’t know why I didn’t think of that, I think that would be a perfect solution! The polo is great isn’t it, the more I think about it the more I want to finish it. I’ve never tried Tunisian crochet but keep saying I want to give it a go, maybe I’ll finally pick it up this year!
Hi Emily. I would keep the rugby top. Love that on you. But I would frog the cream diamond one as the armhole looks too low. I don't know how you manage with all those projects. The most I have on is three. But we are all different and there is no right or wrong is there. Happy new year 🎉x
The colourwork jumper Ali's Sweater Light is beautiful, but I thought it was a drop shoulder when you tried it on. So sadly as a raglan it is too big. Imho. It is lovely.
Keep going on the polo. I'd turn the gray thing that was too hard to frog into blanket or something. The creamy diamond one look too big in the wrong way. You have so many pretty projects. I have 11 wips right now. I don't count my meditation knit because that's more spiritual practice than knitting project. So 11/ 12 if you want to count everything yarn in progress
I think you’re exactly right about the diamond sweater, it needs some altering to get it to fit right. I completely feel you on a meditation knit, I really have that with some of mine - I call them comfort knits but they fulfil the same use and it’s so important to have then I think!
I LOVE your Ali's Sweater - but it is big. Would it be possible to frog it up to before diving and a little bit further to give you less fabric on the arms? It might be easier to “adjust” than to start over again 😊 I have 22 WIPs in my pile of opportunity ans I love every one of them 😂 And I feel no shame in casting on more stuff - it doesn't matter to me if the yarn take up room in my stash or in my WIP pile 🙈
Haha that’s a very good point!! It’s still taking up space but why not have it take up space and be in a project?! I think you’re right about the Alis sweater unfortunately, it’s just too big isn’t it, altering it might be a very good idea!
Hi. I love the rugby top and definitely think you should finish it. As for the Alis top, do you have someone to give it to if you finish it and find it's not comfortable being oversized on you? Just a thought 🤔
I did think that, unfortunately I think it would be even bigger on everyone I could gift it to! I’m hoping I can make some adjustments from the suggestions I’ve had in the comments 🤞
I think you would look great in the rugby top. Re lovely sweater. It’s a case of will you wear and enjoy it if you continue or will it annoy you so much the pleasure of your beautiful knitting will be affected
I was wrong 😄. Loved seeing all your wips. I think the Rugby poll top really suits you and you should carry on knitting it. The Ali's sweater light looks to big on you, to much fabric in the sleeve. It's a shame as it's a beautiful jumper. Maybe you could at a later date knit it in a smaller size. xxx
Great video although your number of wips give me anxiety. LOL they are all beautiful!!! I currently only have 3 and I'm working on all three, a sock (I always have one on the needles) a cardigan and a pullover (the pullover is almost done)

Happy Podcast Anniversary! I do really like your Winona Polo. It looks like you're ready to head out to a game. So fun! I would frog the tidepool rectangle tee. I do love hearing "oh boy, strap in" as I sit down with a cup of coffee & my knitting 😹💗 Happy Podcast Anniversary!! 🧶
I laughed to myself as I was editing it and heard that so I’m glad you also found it funny 🤣 thank you ❤️
I LOVE the Be More Vivienne shawl. So beautiful!!

Hi frog the tank, if it's warm enough for that tank it's too hot for wool. Congrats on 1 year anniversary ... Cheers
Finish the polo - it’s awesome!
Please, please continue with the oversize rugby top. It suits you and it’ll be comfy x
Happy anniversary!!!!🎉
I tried so hard not to carry things over this year, but, well...oops 😂
Congrats on one year! Looking forward to this years podcasts.
I’m feeling the same about monthly yarn clubs too - I just don’t like not knowing what I’m getting, much as I think I MIGHT like them 🤣
New viewer here. Love the rugby top! Definitely should finish it x
Keep the rugby pullover. The raglan needs to be re-knitted. It’s a beautiful pullover. I’m doing the 12 cast ons, and I have 8 WIPs. Lol….so 20! I do have a plan in place, and I will not start anything else. Great podcast.

The colourwork jumper Ali's Sweater Light is beautiful, but I thought it was a drop shoulder when you tried it on. So sadly as a raglan it is too big. Imho. It is lovely.
It is, isn’t it. The more I sit with it, the more I think you’re right 😭
Keep going on the polo.
Where is the 🍁 😂
I knew I’d forgotten something!
I'm guessing you may have 19 wips😅 . xxx
I'm now going to watch your podcast to see how many 😅 xxx
I was wrong 😄. Loved seeing all your wips. I think the Rugby poll top really suits you and you should carry on knitting it. The Ali's sweater light looks to big on you, to much fabric in the sleeve. It's a shame as it's a beautiful jumper. Maybe you could at a later date knit it in a smaller size. xxx
Great video although your number of wips give me anxiety. LOL they are all beautiful!!! I currently only have 3 and I'm working on all three, a sock (I always have one on the needles) a cardigan and a pullover (the pullover is almost done)
They give me anxiety too 😅 I’d been having anxiety dreams about filming this video! Haha
