Hi Mark, i know its been a while since you've done videos but I'm still watching and enjoying them. I've been loaning out my old bats to various people and running repairs on them. Interrsting to see different techniques being applied. I'm keen to hear how this held up vs your bats that youve just dowelled. I generally just run a few dowels through the crack. After i drill the hole for the dowel, i fill it with pva and blow it through the crack with an air pump. Usually repeat once or twice until glue is coming out the crack, then fill with pva again and hammer in the dowel. I then clamp it up in position without the dowel inserted to let it dry, then run the drill through the hole again in the set position, fill with pva and insert the dowel. These have all held up perfectly so far, but the oldest one has only really had half a season so far.
Well done mate. Great bit of fiddling and grafting there sir. I'm ashamed to say that I love your uploads! Definitely one for the crickets purists out there! Keep up the good work....👌👊🏏
Phenomenal video again Marc. 👍👍 Hey TH-cam, I bet £10 that in 10 years time I’ll have top bats & softs and refurb service from Marc’s own brand. “Top Marc Cricket” has a nice ring to it 🏏😎
Awesome video Marc. You would be absolutely filthy about this happening to such a high end bat (not that I’ve ever had such a high end bat to know). You’ve done a stellar job giving this one a new life. Hats off to you sir!
Thanks Stuart. I was nervous, but the owner was not fussed. I'd hate to be charging money for a repair like this and it all go horribly wrong. I imagine $100 would be charged for something like this. I'm not personally fond of using basic epoxy as it's too rigid and may make a bat feel stiff and brittle. PVA for me. With a Table saw and some sort of specialised rigging to hold a bat perfectly upright it would be a piece of cake. Plenty of videos showing the table saw method with timber, not Cricket bats. The Saw and Chisel cost $40, so it's not something I'd say to others to attempt unless it's a Hail Mary and they are hoping for the best and planning for the worst.
Yeah, it just depends on how far across the break is. My GN Ultimate did something similar 5th match i used it. This fix is perhaps over engineered, but its bloody strong.
Of interest, what type of wood did you use for the lamitoe? Have seen various things used. Willow, obviously. Other stronger types too but then you likely had weight at the worst point. Good job through. Inspired me to try.
The inserts was willow and i ran the grains to support the repair. I considered marine ply if I didn’t have a piece of willow long enough for the repair.
Great Video as always! Can you use sandpaper to sand the front/face down rather than a electric sander? If so what grade of sandpaper would you recommend? I want to treat my own bats and as this will be a one off (hopefully) I don't want to invest in expensive equipment if I don't have to. Cheers

I doubt that Alex. Just a hobby. I took my sweet time with this repair and still made mistakes. Cannot imagine doing this full time.
Marc that vid was brilliant and you did a bloody good job repairing that bat , keep up with all your vids as i love watching them
Thanks Richard. I enjoyed making this video.
Excellent work Marc. Very impressive repair.
Gland you liked it.
Great work Marc - looks solid, hopefully it holds 🤞
Fingers crossed!

Thank you for the Super Thanks Stuart. Happy you found this video informative and entertaining.
Great effort Rob
Thanks, but who’s Rob🤪
@@CricketBatInfo 😂 I don't know where the hell I got Rob from 😂 my age must be catching up with me Mark
No worries. Appreciate the comment regardless. Take care
Had a very similar break on my fave bat. I just glued and doweled it, who knows how long it will last 😂
Yeah, it just depends on how far across the break is. My GN Ultimate did something similar 5th match i used it. This fix is perhaps over engineered, but its bloody strong.
Good Work on the bat Marc be interesting to hear how it goes in the nets/game. Cheers
I have a bat with a crack at the toe I dowelled. It should be fine.

@@CricketBatInfo thanks, and it’s held as far as you know? 😬
Great video Marc as always. I will try to do this to one of my bats. Do you reckon a toe binding would be better?
Nah, not a fan on binding toes. Fibre tape is rigid and doesn’t shrink. Binding can shrink and cause issues.
Great Video as always!

Sore. Ir just takes longer. 80, then 120 the 240. Check for lines with each change.
