Fun fact: in the mansion where you get the tires from. There's apparently a black figure going pass the windows when you go there at night. I thought of it as it was probably a object that didn't properly render but when I entered the threshold of the doors there was like a whisper. So every playthrough I do, I'll just by new tires. Besides, you'll need new tires in the long run anyway. This is no cap, it probably has a low chance of it occurring. Edit: I forgot one important detail, I think it only happens at night.
Yeah, I was surprised that the game actually supported something like that. Even breaking the window with the tractor was outside the box for me. I watched Squirrel's whole series and I had some idea of all the side plots, but apparently there's lots more to find.
I mean, it wasn't _that_ silly of a plan since criminals IRL do exactly the same thing with ATMs (and similar devices such as the aforementioned slot machine) all the time; they'll chain them to a large vehicle like a truck, rip them out of the ground, and then load up the stolen machines and drive off with them (the less intelligent of the bunch just conspicuously drag the machine down the road with them). I never would have expected something like that to work in-game, though. 😅
I find it absolutely hilarious, because just recently in my hometown in Finland, somebody stole a bank machine by ripping it out of the store wall with a tractor 😭
The game has more character than most modern games. Police arriving at your door, speeding tickets, npcs literally being more capable to do stuff than any other npc in any other game. Jesus fuck I need more of this.
@@nevr4give220 What are the NPCs more capable of doing? Besides killing themselves in a hilarious manner because you flipped them off. I'd argue the AI is extremely stupid, they're just placed in a wide variety of situations with specific programming per location.
What’s scary about the drunk hanging himself is that the game doesn’t force this onto you, but it’s something that you’ll find on your own. No arrows or quests, no dialog or signs. Just the simple consequence of your actions.
On top of that once you take the money your stress meter will go up considerably faster making you have to cope with your actions with smoking considerably more
@@d-daychip4393 idk if this true because i didnt play the game. But if it was, then it is very interesting to see that our PC is feeling SOMETHING when taking that money. It can be guilt, it can be paranoia. We cant really tell because our PC is too hammered by vodka.
@@dawey8897 I think its worse/better that they didn't. if he was all 'woe is me', I wouldn't feel bad. the fact that he realizes that the way people treat him is his own fault and apologizes, shows some redeemable qualities in his character. though I like this result a lot better than the one where he buys an apartment in town. driving him to suicided gives him such a satisfying character arc that really is the only reason to care about him. I hope it is the cannon for the game's sequel my winter car. that is unless he goes through some positive change in the sequel.
13:09 That's a genuine method to look for rust on cars. The mechanic was looking for big rust points on the chassis. If the screwdriver hits a big rust point, it will go through it and make a hole and the chassis will have to be repaired to remove the rust points where the screwdriver pierced through. Of course, inspection isn't just limited to that, it was simplified in the game for time reason. But it's still very nice to see this much attention to details.
Man this game isn’t pretty but holy shit it seems so incredibly thorough and thought out, with actions having logical consequences and truly making a dynamic story
It also goes to show how a few good decisions can lead to great games. "If x happens; do y". Apply this to 4-5 npcs and you got 20 pages of wiki content about what does what and why.
At first, I thought the drunk hanging himself was just the physics engine breaking and he was just floating, like a scripted event where he would try and attack you and it just fucked up, but no. It had to be one of the most jarring and dark moments I've ever seen.
as a finnish man; i'd say you played this game EXACTLY the way it's supposed to be played for the "absolute no-fucks-giving chaotic alcoholic"-experience. bravo! no other content-creator has achieved this level of finland in MSC.
One of the only videos I've ever seen that has given me goosebumps, the plot, the character development and the shocking ending, this, is a masterpiece.
Probably somebody else has already commented on it but I think I just noticed a surprising and pleasing coincidence. Mart's semi-maiden voyage with The Car in the first video, he breaks down going over the same bridge, on the same side even! It's FATE.
Such a compelling story, a subersive take on the typical message of "follow your dreams" that asks the spectator how far is too far when following those dreams and if it's even worth going that far. It's pretty clear that our protagonist is the villain of the story, a person so obsessed in winning a rally that starts escalating with simple accidents attributed to incompetence to slowly leaving behind the concepts of ethics and morality just for the sake of achieving a purpose. The contrast at the end it's absolutely sublime, this shocking image is there to remind the protagonist and the audience that our actions have consequences and said consequences could be shown through the people we're close to The ending also leaves some room for interpretation, making us wonder what would our protagonist do after this event, maybe forget about it and prepare for the next rally or perhaps actually change for the better and amend for all the past mistakes
@@kguytheguy928 3 months later but yeah unfortunately the annoying guy is correct here, if referring to a hanging human you usually do say hanged, hung is for hanging anything else
Holy shit that ending was dark, not something I would expect of this channel. Usually death, disease and misery is played for laughs but this one felt oddly impactfull. Despite all the goofiness there's some genuine storytelling here. Quality content, You've come a long way since the factorio video.
i love that the creator thought of so many things the player might do. Who makes a game with the thought in mind that a person might try dumping sewage on the inspection center and then rewards the player for it.
Every talks about the ending, but the foreshadowing at 18:40 is incredible. Driving across the very bridge the drunk man would hang himself off AS he's having a monologue about all the great things he could do with the money.
The ending really speaks to me as a canadian. Alot of my country is rural towns with like a single industry and nothing to do. It doesnt take much to send someone over the edge. Mental health and alcoholism is proly the biggest killers in the rurals.
The drunk killing himself was a dramatic tone change that I was not expecting. Bravo Martin. Other than that, You made me laugh so much I no longer have guts. Edit: yes! Keep theorizing! Map pat ‘ain’t got shit on us!
Its so strange because I remember when this game first came out an every lets player like glossed over it for being kinda too realistic and then doing some surface level things. But seeing Martincito go DEEP into this finish alcholic car fixing racing life simulator is incredible especially with that gut punch with the drunk at the end. Martincitopants runs through a crowd full of people and we laugh. Martincitopants Robs a man, who stole that amount from his wife, who then kills himself and we cry.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that the tonal shift in the end is terrifying, sad as shit, and absolutely perfect. The way it was shot, the music, the slow realization, everything. Holy FUCK was that horrifying. I thought that the change in mood at the end was, like, some bugged part of the bridge or something, but the drunk dude literally hanging dead off the bridge, swaying around in the wind is actually jarring. It caught me off-guard, and for some reason I actually feel like he'd just murdered someone and not just an NPC.

Finlands fines when it comes to speeding works a bit differently than other countries. Instead fining you only based on how fast you were going they also look at your taxes. In 2002 a nokia executive was fined 103k dollars for going 45 in a 30 zone.

I have done that once. I will never do that again. Ever. No permanent injuries. Or even temporary. Only my ego got burned. I was in a vocational school to become a car mechanic.
The ending felt like when Elena found Nate in the motel room in Uncharted 4. You were riding that high, such a glorious victory. You were up there cracking beers with God. And then you just got snapped the fuck back to reality. What a fantastic end. Like a sudden slap after a fun day, this is very memorable. And now to just wait for the next episode lol
I have to say, the twist ending is interesting. People are upset over the protagonist stealing from the drunk man, but after all, he stole from his wife and hid it from himself. Is the protag really as bad as the drunk stealing from his own wife fore his personal gain? Truly, My Summer Car is a question of ethics.
Man, I can get enough of how great of a game MSC is, even with it's goofy and buggy state people portray it as, it truly does feel immersive and mostly realistic, MSC doesn't feel like a flashy, charismatic, sprang to life open world game, with memorable and funny characters, every person in MSC, even the player, feels like they are just sorta out there, like us. MCS feels like a raw portray of life, things are as boring as you want them to be, you can lay around your home and it's surroundings, maybe drink some beer watching TV, or you could just get up, and go make out something that fulfills your crave for something more, an achievement, a dream, or anything that marks something in your day, and the way the game deals with consequences truly show out, sure, no one's gonna care to play fairly after being arrested for more than real time months, but just showing that can happen if you don't behave, is a way to display that even in-game, things aren't as easy as they seem, people actually deal with the consequences you cause them, as shown in the beautiful finale of this video, and that no matter what, always keep yourself from falling in the cheap ways and decisions life throws at you Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

@@aramdominsect895 the points is it was bound to get stolen eventually for the fact it was sitting in the middle of nowhere near a bunch of areas were people are not to mention he stole it from his wife and blab on about and spend most of it already when the player has a simple goal that could lead him into getting somewhere big rather than drinking and partying at a big house he spended it

A spooky ghost
I thought he was joking about stealing the slot machine. The plan sounded silly, then he did it exactly as planned.
Yeah, I was surprised that the game actually supported something like that. Even breaking the window with the tractor was outside the box for me. I watched Squirrel's whole series and I had some idea of all the side plots, but apparently there's lots more to find.
@@jkleylein I think you can actually don't get fined by Teimon if you don't break the window?
@Daniel Lancelin Which is why the ATMs you see at banks are built into the walls.
Why did this game get so real all of a sudden Jesus Christ.
The game has more character than most modern games. Police arriving at your door, speeding tickets, npcs literally being more capable to do stuff than any other npc in any other game. Jesus fuck I need more of this.

The contrast at the end it's absolutely sublime, this shocking image is there to remind the protagonist and the audience that our actions have consequences and said consequences could be shown through the people we're close to
The ending also leaves some room for interpretation, making us wonder what would our protagonist do after this event, maybe forget about it and prepare for the next rally or perhaps actually change for the better and amend for all the past mistakes

And the worst part? Unlike other NPC's that can permanently die, the alcoholic's body will _still be hanging there_ until you start a new save file.

MCS feels like a raw portray of life, things are as boring as you want them to be, you can lay around your home and it's surroundings, maybe drink some beer watching TV, or you could just get up, and go make out something that fulfills your crave for something more, an achievement, a dream, or anything that marks something in your day, and the way the game deals with consequences truly show out, sure, no one's gonna care to play fairly after being arrested for more than real time months, but just showing that can happen if you don't behave, is a way to display that even in-game, things aren't as easy as they seem, people actually deal with the consequences you cause them, as shown in the beautiful finale of this video, and that no matter what, always keep yourself from falling in the cheap ways and decisions life throws at you
