After recording this video, I learned that Neil Druckman has stated that the game will be about a fictional religion and that the story will be about "what happens when you put your faith in different institutions." I'm very certain this game will mock religion in general. I have never seen main stream media portray fictional religions in a positive light, especially in a sci-fi setting. The religion is always a cult. A recent example is the 2021 Guardians of the Galaxy game. I think the trope that religions are over-controlling and all being cults is over-done and void of creativity.
There is nothing Neil Druckman can say about religion that will be fresh or unique. I'm sure it will be like all the other times Hollywood types try to say anything about it. "...what happens when you put faith in different institutions" 🙄 get over yourself bro Except for Paul Schrader of course. His work isn't necessarily positive about religion, but it's way way WAY more interesting than the typical mainstream "commentary."
A few problems I have with the trailer is the description says thousands of years int he future yet somehow we are mixing in current universal companies/lore which takes me out, and also reading the description, it says I will be stuck on a planet which means I will not get to cruise space which is what the trailer shows me
The product placement definitely takes me out as well. Back when I was a little kid, it was cool seeing a Pizza Hut logo in the snow level of the Ninja Turtles game on NES. It made it feel like it was in our world. But this trailer throws so many logos in our face in such a short time frame, that it makes it feel like they're all sponsored ads.
At the very least, the main difference is that Concord felt like it was a Guardians of the Galaxy knock off and this game isn't knocking off one thing, but just a mix of a bunch of 80s anime references. So it's slight difference, but yes I agree.
This game feels like a mandate and not a project. The product placement, the very obvious agenda focused neil druckman style. I'm not saying that these things immediately make a game bad at all but it is becoming a very obvious pattern that games with these things are usually not so great. It's even more baffling when consistently studios will say "boohoo cry about it" or "if you dont like it dont play it" as if they don't care about our opinions. But then when no one plays the game, they call us sexist and racist and bigots for not supporting their unappealing game which they said to not play if it didnt look good to us. That just shouldnt sit right with anyone. Plus the trailer like you said was genuinely so goddamn boring. The pacing, what actually happens (literally nothing) it all just makes me wish this game trailer was just the beginning shot, the end shot with her sword and then the title. But no, they absolutely needed a full trailer to show druckman's fetishes and quirks. It's weird.
Agreed. As you mention, on their own, those things aren't bad, but when those are what's being showcased in their 4.5 min long trailer, then it shows these things are what's being prioritized.
Naughty Dog has not been doing nearly as well as western game journalists would want you to believe. Part 2 did not sell nearly as well as Part 1, and the constant remasters of those games is annoying people and I would assume they've been selling like ass too. This new game just makes it obvious that Druckmann just wants to self-immolate and take as many people working at Naughty Dog down with him. Allah willing, Druckman will be fired and replaced with someone who actually wants to bring Naughty Dog back to the era where they actually made fun games like Jak and Daxter.
Salaam alaikum. I think Druckman got a taste of Hollywood from working on the HBO series and he's using this as his portfolio piece to help him transition from video games to movies. He gave us a 4.5 min video that only gave us "vibes"
They will probably be layoffs before the game launch as it’s taking them too long to release a game which increase the cost + TLOU multi got cancelled (some devs were hired just because of this project) - not because the game is not performing well.
Here's my theory about this game (and the industry in general right now): Making these games that are set up for failure both wins them virtue points by presenting these studios as progressive/inclusive/whatever, and in addition to that it gives the studios an excuse for the inevitable layoffs. There was a huge boom in the industry during covid, but it wasn't sustainable and these studios were going to have to downsize sooner or later. Having a game like this flop gives them the perfect excuse, because poor performance is a better, more justified reason than "we are a bloated company right now and return to a leaner business model."
@ Might be true but there’s also this reason why they do something like this. Launching New IP is a risky move but it was also used to test their organic consumers. If doing this risky move and players still buy their games - this means they have a very healthy customer base which is more valueable than most people think.
Genuinely, can anyone give me a valid reason for all this hate...? I see a teaser for retro scifi game, fet too early for anyone to be giving it this kinda hate? If your only issue is "ugly woman" then dont even waste your energy responding 😭
@@SabrPath Yeah right until you started discussing the characters look? I fail to see how thats relevant to a game being good? Not to mention saying you know their sexuality because of her look Youre very much the person i dont want to hear from here 🤷 I want valid reasons tbis game looks bad Not "ugly woman"
The trailer looked great to me. Derivative, yeah, but fun. I'll wait for a little actual gameplay, but I'm excited for it. All my friends loved TLOU Part II, most more than Part I, and they think this looks good too. It might no be for YOU, but there are millions of people who will buy it and play it. If you're looking for a T&A game, there are plenty of those on Steam, many for $5-10.

They're forcing an audience. And they've been trying for the longest time.
Agreed. Just as that actress said, they don't want you to accept, they want you to "embrace"

Will Naughty Dog risk leading to layoffs by making this game? Let me know in the comments!

What makes you think I'm looking for T&A? I literally say in the video that I'm against sexualized women in media.
