@@tanakax25 pretty cocky for someone whose whole agenda lights ablaze. what a pleasure to witness. don't forget to keep your smug face until the last breath.
@@SunRiseHigh444Yeah. The character's big feathre is that she is a woman with a shaved head. But they dont even show her properly shaving her head? Huge high detail cutscene. The animators took at minimum 4 hours animating that 2 second shaver scene. The rendering passed through probably 6 different people, from lighting, modeling, rigging, animation, rendering. None of them noticed the backwards razor. Trlls me they dont have any diversity in their studio. Because any joe blow with a bald head would have noticed that. (tons of men shave their heads bald)
@@SunRiseHigh444 I use the buzz cut and do it almost weekly. People pointing that out isn't "weird", it just doesn't make logical sense to use a shaver in that position; in practice it won't be nearly as efficient at cutting small hair as using it the "correct" way.
The best part is that it's a new IP so nobody has to care and the game can flop in obscurity without any damage being done to something anyone cares about
That's exactly what they deserve after TLOU2. All these AAA companies are forcing these "modern audience" ideologies to an audience predominantly male. All of them are doing it to some extent, some more, some less, and some even go to the extreme like with DA the Veilguard. But they all failed. Why? Because people don't want an edgy they/them space monk with a buzzcut for a main character, that's why. (I'm generalizing ofc but you get the point. I could talk about Abby, the muscle man from hell, but i won't).
@@Fullmetal85 why are you guys so extreme? this has gone way too far. this isnt even anti woke anymore, its just downright misogyny. the only reason i can say this is because ive hated forced diversity, race swapping characters like in the little mermaid, ive hated having girl boss characters, ive hated emasculating males in media, ive always hated this side of things. but you see one bald woman and immediately assume shes a they/them? can you even explain one thing that you actually dislike about the trailer? there hasnt even been enough material shown to criticize, and people are still hate brigading it. i could get into tlou2 if you want, because i have the polar opposite opinion that alot of extremists like to spout (that tlou2 is woke, and that its a masterpiece. both are lies.) but thats still not relevant at all to this new game. i would like to touch on what you said briefly *All these AAA companies are forcing these "modern audience" ideologies to an audience predominantly male.* -All of them are doing it to some extent, some more, some less, and some even go to the extreme like with DA the Veilguard- *But they all failed.* i for the most part agree. however i dont believe naughty dog is one of those companies. media brainwashed me into believing the last of us 2 was a woke sjw failure of a game, then i played it. turns out naughty dog actually knows how to handle diversity. they dont shove the characters race, sexuality, or ideology down your throat. naughty dog understands that tlou2 is a violent world, and theyve shown that they wont push an agenda and ruin the story. i know alot of people think otherwise, but thats a different argument. im just saying that from what ive seen, naughty dog wont turn into ubisoft, and they wont sacrifice the story just to insert their political beliefs.
@@gregerysstuntdouble2992 I feel the same as you. I can't understand why people are hating on it when barely anything has been shown. Is it really because she's got a buzz cut? Is it because the protagonist is a woman? Do they think she's unattractive? I think really what it is, is people are just so tired of dei being shoved into games that any tiny little sign of it immediately turns them off, to the point of absurdity. The pendulum is beginning to swing way to far into extremism at this point. Personally I'm willing to give it a chance because from a positive perspective, I'm digging the retro sci-fi vibes and music and I'm interested in seeing what that kind of game will play like when done by Naughty Dog. On another side note I don't think she's unattractive and could be appealing in the same way Furiosa or other well received female protagonists are. We shall see though.
@@Zekegedd 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 yup. that is EXACTLY what i was thinking. you hit the nail right on the head! its true. when i first saw the character, i rolled my eyes and immediately started thinking "girl boss, 4b, woke, dei". what made me rewatch it with a new perspective was the naughty dog announcement. the truth is that there is a frightening amount of shitty diversity stunts being pulled in media, and it really blemishes trustworthy products. naughty dog is one of the only developers that ive seen be able to maturely handle representation. unfortunately it seems that as you said, people are becoming more radical and susceptible to propoganda. even i thought tlou2 was shit before i even played it. tlou2 was definitely a wake up call for me. it made me rethink my whole perspective on media. there is a frightening amount of people who will just roll with whatever political opinion is acceptable. thats why i think this is happening. infact, the only reason that ive been replying to these comments is in an attempt to make them think rationally for themselves. the truth is, noone hates this game or naughty dog. they just think they should because thats what everyone else thinks. P.S. i also am really into the new genre naughty dog is doing. the mandalorian is one of my favorite series because of the style it went for. ive always been into bounty hunting type stories and with the twist of futuristic, its just that much better. realistically, i think this trailer takes place in the beginning and the story is going to be about her escaping this planet she seems to be going to, but i still really like the world its taking place in. very, very interesting decision by naughty dog and im all for it.
@@gregerysstuntdouble2992 I wont speak for the comments above but for my 2 cents, there is nothing really shown off other than the look of the game. The aesthetics (the 80s synth, anime homages to akira, etc) give it a very hardcore 80s era look. But because all we have is aesthetic, I think people are well within their rights to criticize said aesthetics, that includes the look of the character designs. If people were shitting on gameplay in a trailer with zero gameplay I could understand the maliciousness of their commentary but for what we've seen from this one trailer, at the very least the criticism of what's there on display has been kept on subject, regardless of the arguments being made for and against. I for one take one look at the character design and (given the prevailing attitudes of the people over at modern day Naughty Dog, as well as the comments made by the actress portraying the in-game character model) it would not surprise me at all if she ended up being LGBTQ+ related or adjacent. Its called pattern recognition and people know what to expect from a game made by the same people who gaslit you into believing TLOU2's direction as a franchise was "fine". Obviously there is more to come before people can make a more informed decision with their purchasing dollars once we have the full picture of *Intergalactic* but I wouldnt at all gift the benefit of the doubt against this game being muddied and bogged down with all the "modern-dayisms" of a game like TLOU2. I would not take that bet! LOL
It’s not the look of the character that’s making people mad. It’s the connotation that comes with making characters who look like this under certain writers/studios. Everytime we see a smug, snarky, angsty female character with a weird haircut, it makes people think of Batwoman, She-Ra, Captain Marvel, and any other character who has the archetype that’s written terribly. Naughty Dog and specifically Neil Druckmann has been going out of their way to make things off putting to the audience, and it results in them handling it terribly for a while. So people can’t be upset when we see something very reminiscent of other terrible media in a ND game (not to mention they’ve done it with characters like Nadine, Abby, and even Ellie). Just feels like it’s about to happen again. And it’s sad, because I love this aesthetic.
Idk, I think its high time people just start being honest with themselves. It is 100% about the look of the character in this case. If you want to make me play as a female, at least try to make them attractive. Same goes for men. I don't want to play an ugly femy male character either. Give me a fem fatal or suave smuggler type and I would have been sold.
nah but the thing is a lot of "strong female characters" like captain marvel are just written terribly, but nd writes sroties for stories, and although tlou 2 has a lot of side characters and other stuff, the main story is about joel and ellie and that doesnt change ever even when playing abby. So i dont think nd is making a game with a bald woman just for the lgbtq representation or smth, i think they have a good story, and the fact you play a bald woman shouldnt change that imo.
Please understand that people really hate Neil Druckman because of how he ruined the company starting with last of us 2 botched story. This guy is always over his head thinks he is a good writter when in reality he is bad and has obsession with modern day politics into games lacking true innovation and artistic style in games. All the good directors left Naughty Dog and there was a big scandal over there with him.
Yup, Druckman is a progressive male-feminist that pushed Amy Hennig out of the company. So progressive and bold of him. What a protector of women and champion for women (sarcasm).
I LOVE The Last of Us Part 2 and think the story and its characters are amazing. A lot of people agree with me. The story was risky for sure, but so much of the hate also came from anti-woke, anti-DEI people who hated on the looks of both Abby and Ellie and hated that Ellie was gay. What does "modern day politics" even mean? The fact you don't want "normal looking" women in your game or LGBTQ+ characters is also inherently political...How can you say Naughty Dog's Last of Us and Last of Us Part 2 lacked innovation? The gameplay is amazing, the story is great. Now, you cannot like the story and the game but that comes down to taste, that does not make it lack innovation. And what do you mean with "Artistic style". Naughty Dog leans into more realistic looking games. Many developers do, look at Red Dead Redemption, the Mafia games, Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Alan Wake 2...these games do not have extremely stylized or feminine characters with hyper-sexualized bodies. What would it add to a story like the Last of Us or Intergalactic to have a super sexualized and stylized character(s)? Nothing. That's not Naughty Dog's style. Some people love fantasy games, some love realistic games. If you don't think you'll like it don't play...
@@-Roos97- Holy random yapping you said nothing but cry. Truth is normal people reject this modern politics all around the world we want good artistic style and good writing. You are delusional these games are losing a lot last of us 2 sold half of what last of us 1 sold and it tricked many people not knowing how dumb the story would be with Niel Cuckman in charge. Now that people know about his obsession with modern day politics in games it shows on the number of dislikes and it will show on sales this game will sell very bad compared to all naughty dog games.
"how he ruined the company" -> wrong "when in reality he is bad" -> wrong (you want a primitive marvel writer, true?) "has obsession with modern day politics" -> wrong "lacking true innovation and artistic style in games" -> x2 wrong "All the good directors left Naughty Dog" -> you sure? "there was a big scandal over there with him" -> wrong .. seriously, everything you spread is simply wrong .. somehow you got triggered by Druckman .. was it that Ellie wasn't the Ellie you wanted her to be in part 2? c'mon, be smarter.
@@shadowborn1456Precisely. It's brainwashing women to act that way and portray it as "cool." When in reality, it's abrasive and off-putting, and nobody wants to be around or work with someone like that.
@@65firered did u have issues with Jack in Mass Effect 2? G.I. Jane? Ripley from the Alien where she had a buzzcut? V for Vandetta? Then why, oh why, is it suddenly an issue now. So you're saying protagonists CANT be both female and bold ever again?
Didn't Masamune Shirow also admit that most of the reason behind Ghost in the Shell was because he wanted to draw sexy woman's body/anatomy. Hence the Major being like almost fully prosthetic and artificial. Major Motoko Kusanagi has different personalities in all mediums. • In the manga she had a sense of humor but also feminine charm and authority. • In the first movies she's more like a robot that's trying to find herself. • In the 2002 "Stand Alone Complex" TV series she's a veteran cold hearted hacker cop. • In the 2015 Spin-off Prequel film series "Arise" she's a tomboy soldier girl.
@@purefoldnz3070 Cite back to my reply. Shirow likes to draw sexy women doing sexy things. He also likes machines and robots, but he really likes sexy women.
i miss the days when devs got artists to create a character from scratch, i hate how they just face scan known actor/actresses, it pulls me out of the game. then the actor does something stupid in real life and ruin the game.
It used to be neat and novel to have characters based on real people, but I'm really getting bored of every game going for photorealism. Stylized character designs are not only easier to do (on a technical level), but give games more personality. Imagine a game that fully utilizes Yoshitaka Amano's (the artist who did all the classic concept and cover art for the old FF games) art style.
I never know the people so it easier for me to ignore and see it more as a debut, but I will say that the people seem to eat this stuff up when it comes to Kojima and have _previously_ with the Last of Us as well. I'd imagine it would backfire a bit when the actor has a bad situation though.
it goes hand to hand with the fake game awards show, it's now a clone of the movie / actor awards, giving speech time to voice actors and actors in these games more then innovation nor gameplay or the devs from these games, it's a malfeasant and unnatural fusion and, i'm sorry to say, but theater kids and movie wannabe makers like kojima are the cancer that enabled this
I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty interested in the reveal. I know everyone is giving it shit for the character but not every single games female protagonist needs to a big breasted anime waifu. I’m cool with some pretty normal generic characters every once and awhile. Especially if the game takes a more serious tone. I’m gonna hold out on jumping on the hate wagon until i see they’ve gone to far.
1:25 i have never heard of that. but i can assure you, that whoever came up with that idea just wants to ruin something a lot of people love and identify. as someone who was born in the 90s and loved anything retro, vaporware and synth aesthetics, i see that the 80s/90s fashion and aesthetics are making a comeback in the last 5 years or so. it so happens that it coincides with the heavy DEI agenda. and those in charge of forcing DEI agenda on us will use any tactics from indoctrinating their ideas into kids cartoons, games and even fashion and style to force us to like them, which is evil.
5:30 fine, this stuff didn’t bother us before. It only does now because of how much they force it in pop culture. Very few people used to dislike a strong wahman, or gays in media. Now? Ouufff
yeah that isn't true, maladapted basement dwellers have always engaged in their bitching about anyone that isn't the standard muscular male protagonist they want lol
It's not just the hair. It's all the elements combined. The arrogant attitude, the male body with female eyes. The fact that they could have put any scene but chose specifically this one. That is the digitalization of every Karen you encounter on the street.
A lot of Westerners a very Shallow and Surface Based Analyst. Most would likely never Actually Play The Game, because their perspective on/of it has been Molded by Others. I like this. It looks Fun from that little Gameplay at The End, and I'm lookin' Forward to it.
I don't really think there's a political agenda with the protagonist at all - there are so many 80s sci-fi references going on here, and to me she just seems inspired by Ellen Ripley from Alien, who was a total badass. Also, that comment that she's made more masculine to appeal to a male audience as a playable character seems a bit forced in itself, as you could easily argue the same thing regarding the more "super sexy" female protagonists you see in a ton of games - I seriously doubt they make those to appeal to female gamers. To me, this character being a bit "tough" just makes her more believable in that role if anything.
7:09 I totally agree with you about politics. But… there aren’t any politics here. People that are making comments about that are projecting their own political opinions in places where it doesn’t make sense
I'm still failing to see the politics people are talking about. People just want to make assumptions instead of looking at what is actually there. This could be the most A political game this gen but people are saying it's woke because of a bald woman
The whole vibe I get from the main character is pretty bad. She seems obnoxious and bored and that's not someone I feel interested in playing as. I hope this isn't what Naughty Dog thinks is cool and strong behaviour.
Exactly. It's that smug, snarky, borderline narcissistic personality...that is usually reserved for a male character who will then go through development and become more likeable. How much do you want to bet, this character won't go through that k8nd of development? They give these girl boss characters that personality...that NASTY personality, because it's how THEY actually are themselves. And in real life, nobody likes them.
That's funny, because I get DMC3 Dante vibes from her. If she came off as Obnoxious and Immature, is because she's annoyed and BORED with what appears to be a Lecture.
@@be12 You can't even count how many times she warned the main character about the planet on every monitor she appeared on. YES, she was lectured as she went about the ship. It's abundantly clear that there's a mother daughter like thing going on here. Are _you_ 12? There's even *legit* hesitation before she blast off meaning as reckless as everyone seems to think this portrayal is, she does think about what she's doing. As if the wall of research wasn't enough.
In the beginning of the trailer. The picture of the Five Aces you can see her with hair. I would think someone who is a bounty hunter using melee weapons would probably not want long flowing hair
Looks more like a big "product placement video" than an actual "videogame trailer". From the Sony music box to the Porsche Spaceship and the Adidas Shoes... I was even expecting some pepsi/cola ads on what she was drinking but no... lol
Its hilarious that they say from the studio that brought you such and such, when the original studio has been gutted. So its not really the same studio who did those great games minus TLOU2.
You just have to compare Witcher 4 and Intergalactic. Both female leads. Both looking like they are kicking ass. One feels genuine. The other doesn’t. Ciri has earned it. I don’t get what we learned about this MC when she shaves her head. I also want to see gameplay before I even care about these games. Witcher needs to fix its combat badly. Naughty Dog has a distinct combat typically. So this is probably Uncharted for space.
Why the other does not feels genuine? Because she shave her head? And you see swords in Uncharted? We already know Ciri... But we don't know anything about this girl. Why compare them?
I actually really enjoyed Witcher 3's combat. It could be better of course. But i think it also has alot of good elements to build off of. This is coming from someone whos kind of a combat snob too lol Nioh, sekiro, ninja gaiden etc. Are Peak for me.
Japanese here and when i see Japanese cc they often fail to see the whole perspectives of the controversial topics e.g. in this case contextual bg of being woke,of naughty dog and yeah also jaguar lol. And yet they like to give opinions without assuming they don’t know much. Just don’t try to join. Just play the game
There's a point where homage becomes pandering becomes ripoff. I love all the things this is supposedly referencing, and that makes it feel all the more disgusting to me. They are plundering pirates.
I love the setting and don't care about the ripoff-ness about it, because I haven't got a good, true bounty hunting in space action-adventure game for a long time. But they have to, of course, ruin it with their blatant agenda
Yeah... If only they could just make gameplay... Those damn agenda warriors... I am so sick of them promoting this military culture.. why cant she be a princess instead. What am i suppose to do with my life. I want my porn in the gameplay asap.
I don't think you have to add "new" things to any medium, you can create things with topics that will always be relevant making them timeless. That way things don't lose relevance once the trend dies out.
For me, on one hand its annoying and a real shame to see how far we've come with CGI only to use it to scan real life ugly, or bland characters. And on the other hand knowing the developers and/or studios are doing it on purpose.
You may not like her, but Tati Gabriel for sure is not bland or ordinary looking. It’s really annoying how some gamers want the same archetype of women in all their games.
The whole project seems to be in an identity crisis, they want to send a message and force the DEI stuff all while trying to cater to the very same audience that built them up.. Its conflicting, apt for therapy IMO, almost makes me think that they're just being directed or forced to do something like that because it just doesnt make sense.. BTW; love how they put that song of the pet shop boys in the end , GOLD.
I use clippers to shave my face, and do the main cutting with the flat down, but do some final passes just as she did to clean it all up. It might not be the right way, but it is a way.
I didn't even care about her appearance to the point where I hadn't even thought about it until I saw the comments. Of course, I understand that some of you might be upset about playing as a bald Asian character. But I'm much more interested in other aspects of the game, like the gameplay, graphics, and so on, which already seem to be on a high level. Her appearance is a subjective matter. Yes, some people might not like it (although I'm absolutely fine with it), but throwing so much hate at a game we know almost nothing about is absurd. Wake up! This is Naughty Dog we're talking about-they've always delivered games that are 10 levels above everyone else. The game looks amazing! The graphics, facial animations, art direction, and concept-it's not some Dragon Age or Ubisoft title. Compare ND to Concord? Are you serious? I’m also tired of the whole woke agenda in games. Anything that’s forced and pushed everywhere becomes exhausting, and I understand why people are fed up. BUT Yes, it’s annoying that nowadays every other character is gay or non-binary. However, I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with it when it’s done appropriately. I think the industry has pushed this so much everywhere that even the slightest hint of it now irritates people. In my subjective opinion, she looks absolutely fine and even charismatic in some ways. A bounty hunter can’t look like a blonde bombshell; in my view, her appearance suits her character perfectly. And her short haircut doesn’t say anything about her gender or sexual preferences. In conclusion: keep it together, and let’s wait and see. Personally, I have high expectations for the game, and I’m hyped. Finally, something new and unique!
@Darkstalker212 We all just want to play a good game. But it gets to a point, when the agenda becomes so obvious and off-putting, that we have to do something about it. Why support developers who hate you?
I will make my decision to either buy the game or not only after I’ve seen more in-game footage / trailers of gameplay, story, mechanics, systems, etc. If the game is appealing enough to me, then I’ll buy it; if not, then I won’t. But at this point, it’s too early for me to decide since not very much of the game was shown in this teaser trailer.
Unknown characters and a fascinating quote, the suspended atmosphere, the wonderful colors, the music of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the out-of-scale graphics, the wonderful anime on TV, lore that flows very quickly, well-known brands, the pixels of the monitor of service, the on-board instrumentation of the spaceship that takes the breath away of those who love sci-fi atmospheres. Music again, we raise the bar by inserting a wonderful track by Pet Shop Boys which amplifies the sense of passion for what we are seeing and then it becomes clear that they are the much loved Naughty Dog. A few seconds of gameplay just to make the hype go up to 1000, finally the title with crazy artwork in retro futuristic cyberpunk style, new Naughty Dog logo color, old PlayStation logo. This is what I saw, not the girl's hair. 😍
I can’t believe they felt like this was a big enough final reveal. I’m amazed they would think anyone besides druckman/naughty dog stans would find this appealing
If they were marketing to the male gamer they would have either made the lead character a masculine man or an attractive female. Instead they put their ideology first.
Another issue besides bald head and backwards razor. This trailer is more like the first 5 minutes of a scifi episode series and not a game trailer. It tells us nothing and bores us with a story intro no one is interested in.
Naughty Dog and Neil Druckman wants to be like Hollywood so bad. They are super entitled and living in the left Hollywood bubble. This game when it will release will feel super dated becausse in 2027 the woke hype is gone. I don't understand why Sony is not stepping in. Neil Druckman is destroying and Hijacking Naughty Dog and no one at Sony is boss enough to take action it looks like.
You think this games is not gonna age well, I bet your comment is not gonna age well. Go out and talk to some women and ask them what they think. No all media is catered solely to male gamers
In a vaccum, a relatively interesting trailer. But with all the context of the state of gaming and recent virus that's polluted large parts of it and peoples good will...naughty dog, Druckmann, overuse of snarky masculinzed girl bosses etc. It makes sense why people would dismiss and mock this. I'm not saying this can't turn out to be a great game and prove people wrong but they're right to atleast be vocal skeptics at this point.
2:15 I guess she could be trying to get her hair even shorter than your usual "buzz cut". That's why she's holding the shaver in reverse. But that also doens't make much more sense because you'd want to hold it more "straight up", like more perpendicular to the scalp to do that..
I could give this the benefit of the doubt IF Niell Druckman wasn't the one in charge of the game. We all know what kind of person he is. And we all know how he (and his cronies in video game "journalism") will react to any criticism. I don't like to judge something based on scant evidence, but wit this we have a history of evidence to pull from.
I keep hearing people say that, but it really confuses me, since he's the writer of TLOU Part 1, Uncharted 4, and so on. He's got really good stories/games under his pedigree. Only Part 2 is a bit controversial in where he took the story.
My theory is that Jordan was might be a something related to monk or ex-monk or the worshipper. Because it's titled The Heretic Prophet & she is bald Seems like the planet that no one can ever get out might be ruled by someone claimed to be the prophet itself 🤔
5:48 If the point of a reveal teaser is to get me interested in the new IP, then they already failed. Because I have zero interest in following the story of a character who makes that kind of face, and the game frames it as something good/cool about the character. Especially when it's made in response to another character who's worried about her safety. I like a lot of different types of characters, but "girlbosses" aren't one of them.
Heres the crazy thing, if we ignore the chrome dome girlboss and the terrible market placement, this trailer still sucks ass. The job of a trailer is to inform the player what kind of game they will be purchasing, what they can expect, etc. Without referencing any of naughty dog's other games (which nowadays is mostly limited only to "3rd person over shoulder shooters/hack and slasher glorified movie games"), tell me what this game will be and how it will play. The answer is, YOU CANT, because we didnt see a single second of gameplay. QUITE LITERALLY, the only reason to be hype is purely because of the studio. And let me remind you, this is the studio that gave us TLOU2, one of the most hated games of all time.
Execpt this is a teaser/anouncement.. would i rather have them do it with gameplay? Ofc... But its not trailer. We will see gameplay next year dont worry.
They can't just hate Naughty Dog if they are not a true Naughty Dog fan like me who's been a fan since the 90s Remember back in the 80s it was called Jam Software in Virginia They made alot of good games over the years People just need to stop complaining about it and deal with it I can't wait to play that new game Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet when ever it comes out.🇺🇲🇯🇵
I never get it why they made everything seemingly a homage to 80s sci-fi pop culture (hence why people are jokingly calling the protagonist "Modern Audience Star Lord"), except for having an attractive main heroine. Sigourney Weaver, despite how gritty the Aliens franchise were, was seen as a hawt actress of that era, and instead of the two first movies, they somehow decided to make the MC based on Ripley in the sequel that everyone objectively hated.
Seems a little derivative, I agree (although when referencing Kurt Russel's Snake Plissken character I would use "Escape from New York" and not the mediocre sequel) but I think if it were marketed to male gamers the character would be less masculine, not more. Stellar Blade is a good example. Male gamers had the same complaint about Yuna in Ghost of Tsushima; that she was too "plain" and not waifu enough.
No problems with the actress, but Naughty Dog should have known that a bald female protagonist would be highly divisive, not l simply because it conflicts so much with established gender norms, but because it just never looks as good as a well groomed full head of hair. Even Non-binary people who try not to conform to their sex typically have more androgynous hairstyles. They did a disservice to the actress with this decision, she'd have been much more well received if she'd had hair, even if it was short and boyish. Hopefully the game has hair customization to remedy this, but Niel Druckman doesn't seem like the accommodating type, he's far too politically minded and set in his ways.
It's a shaver of the future, we're going to use it like that XD Yeah but if I'm not mistaken, the "lesbian page" of Ghost In The Shell was removed (by the author himself), I don't remember if there's a reason. We can still find the page on the internet (because the internet never forgets) but I checked a physical Ghost In The Shell manga myself and the page wasn't there. And yes, I agree with you, for me too, Mokoto Kusanagi is a kind of non-binary bisexual, I remember that at the end, her new body is male and Batou is surprised and embarrassed but that doesn't seem to bother her. ^^ Intergalactic makes me raise and furrow an eyebrow (and not because she's a girlboss with a shaved head, as a main character) but when the marketing is "LOOK ! LOTS OF REFERENCES OF STUFF YOU LIKE ! LOOK ! BRANDS !” I'm afraid that it's to compensate for a weak storyline (and/or insipid/boring characters/etc) and that if the game doesn't work, to say "it's the players' fault ! If it were real fans, they would have loved our game which is full of references which are all too good" and "anyway it's the brands who threw their money into it, we spent almost nothing, so NAH nah nah nah NAH nah, there’s no “go woke, go broke”, because we didn’t lose any money.” Maybe/probably I'm afraid for nothing or not much. Anyway, I wouldn't buy the game, not because I'm going to boycott it but because I'm a PC player and the game is a PlayStation exclusive XD Thanks for the reaction, hope Naughty Dog will correct the "shaver problem" ;)
I see people cry about the clippers. As a guy who shaved for the last 20 years. I used both ways because it cuts different. The angle is different. Also for sharp cuts. I actually saw a famous barber do it back then. Make me think oh wait that makes sense for certain parts. So its nothing strange. Dont comment unless you know and tried it
I didn't realize that she upside down the shaver. Thank you for pointing that out. I don't care the controversy about this game. I personally think this will be a great game ever made by naughty dog.
Well look at the like and dislike ratio of Ghost of Yōtei compared to this. That alone should answer a lot of questions. I personally disliked the video myself. I truly believe that if this character was a guy that acted more seriously and didn’t joke around like how she does, I’m pretty sure that the like and dislike ratio would be very different.
I bet they do the trailer like that as a statement that they dont give a fck what gamer and anyone watch the trailer think =]] and they will do anything they want Surely they could do that but gamer will vote by their wallet, with that kind of attitude of NaughtyDog like that they will fail for sure
Love your content, it's nice to see someone coming in feeling really genuine and open minded, not with an immediate bias. For me, I think this game will be really good, because let's be honest, Naughty Dog makes good games, but it's that soda slurping scene, the weird 5 year old attitude she gives in that scene would be annoying whoever did it, imagine she looked like Kratos and did that? It would still be annoying. I think if they redo the trailer and skip that it suddenly is way better.
I'm not into the bald head it's not a deal breaker but the reason why she shaves it is her scars, she has a lot of scars, now it's a dumb reason I guess but that might be a motivation, so people can see she's been a fighter.
The game is set in the 80s if you couldn’t tell, an alternate universe where they made space travel a commodity. So it’s very on brand if we’re talking 80s angsty teenager. You know like negasonic teenage war head?
4:50 I don't beleive this character is marketed for men. it's more marketed for the LGBT group which is what most DEI people are from. the group that says "there is no men or women because it's wrong to force gender on people. and that sex and gender is fluid". so characters look like it's somewhere between looking like a man and a woman. if a female character is designed for men, they would look more like bayonetta or stellar blade.
But therein lies the problem! The MAJORITY of gamers are men. Straight men. No matter what they are trying to persuade you to believe, that women are half of the gaming market...that is utter BS!
I am a man and like the character design. I don’t need to be super attracted to the character to be able to like her If it was a gritty and cocky male protagonist nobody would have a problem, I don’t get the double standard here
@@MrSirGut, I am speaking generally. Men like attractive, feminine women. As someone who took animation and character design courses, she is not attractive-looking or ugly-looking. More like she is forgettable-looking. She is like that background character No. 104. The only thing that stands out about her is her red jacket. That's it. That's how poorly this character is designed. This is the reason why I steer away from realism when creating an animated character. I prefer stylized character designs because they are much more memorable. I have never liked gritty and cocky male protagonists. Examples are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Clint Eastwood, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Bruce Willis in their movie portrayals. Even if they were gender-bent, I would still dislike them. Cockiness can be appealing for 4 minutes max. Then the character immediately becomes dislikable.
As an old unwanted male gamer whose been at it since PONG 50+ years ago, I avoided the console 'scene' once PC's were a thing in the 90's. 'Recently', after hearing ALL the hype of the SONY exclusives I finally decided (thanks to Steam) to give some a look. Now I know better than to listen to kids 1/3 to 1/4 my age telling ME how great something is with their limited library of experience. Not interested in SONY movies that imitate games. Nor the messaging or other weak attempts to social engineer children.
Why? Oh why!? I love this setting. I love bounty hunting in space. I love the atmosphere and music. I love Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star. Why must they tarnish my dream game style with this crap?
People can complain all they wan't , just shows they've been mentally defeated lol. Regardless i'm buying the game if even for the soundtrack alone. It's amazing.
I just wanted to point out that if you've ever spent time in a cancer center or hospice that a lot of women with scars on their heads like the protagonist has will shave their head. Not that the protagonist has cancer but she may not like how her hair grows back with the scars on the back of her head. She looks different in the picture on the board. More feminine. But it looks like something changed. Maybe she was betrayed? I dunno. But I'm not really getting anything political from the trailer. Very excited for the game.
You brought up a great point. That they still want to market to MALE gamers, but they are making more Female protagonists and that is the problem. I do love how you brought up Kusanagi Motoko and how well she is written, not acting as male, female but just acting as Major Kusanagi. This reminds me of an idea another TH-cam content creator said. How Disney before they purchased Marvel marketed to girls and women. Then they bought Marvel, who marketed to Males and then just continued to market to the same audience because that is how they always did things and here we are now with all the strong female protagonists in Marvel.
The weird thing is there is a ton of female-led fiction that was geared towards men without making the female characters into men. Apropos to this game, look at all the Japanese cyberpunk anime with female leads. Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell, Bubblegum Crisis, Dominion Tank Police, etc. All ultra-competent female leads, but they still act and look like women.
feels a bit cynical and trend following to do a "Future Funk" aesthetic with such a classic univers of 80's retro vibe like Guardian of the Galaxy or Stranger things. I do hope there is a "twist" to it

@@SunRiseHigh444 It's just a very big oversight for how obsessively naughty dog usually pores over every single little detail for these trailers.

@@Fullmetal85 why are you guys so extreme? this has gone way too far. this isnt even anti woke anymore, its just downright misogyny. the only reason i can say this is because ive hated forced diversity, race swapping characters like in the little mermaid, ive hated having girl boss characters, ive hated emasculating males in media, ive always hated this side of things. but you see one bald woman and immediately assume shes a they/them? can you even explain one thing that you actually dislike about the trailer? there hasnt even been enough material shown to criticize, and people are still hate brigading it. i could get into tlou2 if you want, because i have the polar opposite opinion that alot of extremists like to spout (that tlou2 is woke, and that its a masterpiece. both are lies.) but thats still not relevant at all to this new game.
i would like to touch on what you said briefly
*All these AAA companies are forcing these "modern audience" ideologies to an audience predominantly male.*
-All of them are doing it to some extent, some more, some less, and some even go to the extreme like with DA the Veilguard-
*But they all failed.*
i for the most part agree. however i dont believe naughty dog is one of those companies. media brainwashed me into believing the last of us 2 was a woke sjw failure of a game, then i played it. turns out naughty dog actually knows how to handle diversity. they dont shove the characters race, sexuality, or ideology down your throat. naughty dog understands that tlou2 is a violent world, and theyve shown that they wont push an agenda and ruin the story. i know alot of people think otherwise, but thats a different argument. im just saying that from what ive seen, naughty dog wont turn into ubisoft, and they wont sacrifice the story just to insert their political beliefs.
@@Zekegedd 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
yup. that is EXACTLY what i was thinking. you hit the nail right on the head!
its true. when i first saw the character, i rolled my eyes and immediately started thinking "girl boss, 4b, woke, dei". what made me rewatch it with a new perspective was the naughty dog announcement.
the truth is that there is a frightening amount of shitty diversity stunts being pulled in media, and it really blemishes trustworthy products. naughty dog is one of the only developers that ive seen be able to maturely handle representation.
unfortunately it seems that as you said, people are becoming more radical and susceptible to propoganda. even i thought tlou2 was shit before i even played it. tlou2 was definitely a wake up call for me. it made me rethink my whole perspective on media. there is a frightening amount of people who will just roll with whatever political opinion is acceptable. thats why i think this is happening. infact, the only reason that ive been replying to these comments is in an attempt to make them think rationally for themselves. the truth is, noone hates this game or naughty dog. they just think they should because thats what everyone else thinks.
P.S. i also am really into the new genre naughty dog is doing. the mandalorian is one of my favorite series because of the style it went for. ive always been into bounty hunting type stories and with the twist of futuristic, its just that much better. realistically, i think this trailer takes place in the beginning and the story is going to be about her escaping this planet she seems to be going to, but i still really like the world its taking place in. very, very interesting decision by naughty dog and im all for it.

@@bigbeefy111If this archetype didn’t have such a tumultuous history, nobody would care. It’s not solely because of the look itself.
Shes also obnoxious to her 'boss'
nah but the thing is a lot of "strong female characters" like captain marvel are just written terribly, but nd writes sroties for stories, and although tlou 2 has a lot of side characters and other stuff, the main story is about joel and ellie and that doesnt change ever even when playing abby. So i dont think nd is making a game with a bald woman just for the lgbtq representation or smth, i think they have a good story, and the fact you play a bald woman shouldnt change that imo.
It sounds like your just saying bad writing is the problem.
How would the main character being a white man make it “better” exactly?
• In the 2015 Spin-off Prequel film series "Arise" she's a tomboy soldier girl.

i miss the days when devs got artists to create a character from scratch, i hate how they just face scan known actor/actresses, it pulls me out of the game. then the actor does something stupid in real life and ruin the game.
That's because you can reach a much higher level face detail and facial expression by using a real person and using motion capture.
Exactly!

BUT
Yes, it’s annoying that nowadays every other character is gay or non-binary.
You sound like a shill or a Naughty Dog employee, to be honest.
Love your comment and I feel the same. Can't wait to see more and I am sure the story will be awesome.

Same, I feel like both sides are odd. I just wanna play a good game bro
Good descripton, this is how I felt. Naughty Dog are cooking another masterpiefce.
There was literally zero gameplay bro
The reason why she shaves in this way - is because it's more comfortable in the hand - not because you get a better shave
THAT F FACE 4:20 tells you everything you need to know about this game. It's supposed to you want to play with the main character not killing him.
I can’t believe they felt like this was a big enough final reveal. I’m amazed they would think anyone besides druckman/naughty dog stans would find this appealing

First they give us a macho girl and now they give us the last airbender with gender swap maybe she/he's from bangkok
If they were marketing to the male gamer they would have either made the lead character a masculine man or an attractive female. Instead they put their ideology first.
If the MC is not appealing, I won’t play the game. Simple as that

I mean I get it you don't like bald women but other then that what's wrong with her exactly?
@@redninja3056 Not attractive.
Another issue besides bald head and backwards razor.
This trailer is more like the first 5 minutes of a scifi episode series and not a game trailer. It tells us nothing and bores us with a story intro no one is interested in.
Outside of how she shaves her hair, this game looks good to me so far. The retro-futuristic style is interesting.
Yeah sure... Kicking out a dude that makes gotys... I dont think sony is this stupid.
The actress who plays her has been shaving her head since 2018. There's a video of when she did it for Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Eve from Stellar Blade is an example of a BADASS woman but still incredibly gorgeous and feminine.
Im optimistic for it. It reminds me of scars above 2023, it felt like it’s been forever since naughty dogs made a new IP.
2:15 I guess she could be trying to get her hair even shorter than your usual "buzz cut". That's why she's holding the shaver in reverse. But that also doens't make much more sense because you'd want to hold it more "straight up", like more perpendicular to the scalp to do that..
vaporwave aesthetic music it prominently originated in 2010s, while gta vice City had this aesthetic in 2002 before it.
Cool how you referenced macross
I went with gradius/Vic viper
I have the movie. 👍
Macross is a lot more popular in Japan than anywhere else in the world, due to a particular evil American company...
My theory is that Jordan was might be a something related to monk or ex-monk or the worshipper. Because it's titled The Heretic Prophet & she is bald
Seems like the planet that no one can ever get out might be ruled by someone claimed to be the prophet itself 🤔
Heart of Darkness / Apocalypse Now style plot then? 🤔
😐 "I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight laser..."
Alien Isolation fixed this game years ago.
We want to play the game on the tv, but the director has a very important message we are going to totally ignore
@@pse2020 Thank you bro sheesh, feels like man has never seen a teaser trailer

Loving the thumbnail. Best part of trailer is aethetics and pet shop boys, soundtrack probably gonna be nice. Dunno about the rest need more data.

It's a shaver of the future, we're going to use it like that XD
Yeah but if I'm not mistaken, the "lesbian page" of Ghost In The Shell was removed (by the author himself), I don't remember if there's a reason. ^^
Intergalactic makes me raise and furrow an eyebrow (and not because she's a girlboss with a shaved head, as a main character) but when the marketing is "LOOK ! If it were real fans, they would have loved our game which is full of references which are all too good" and "anyway it's the brands who threw their money into it, we spent almost nothing, so NAH nah nah nah NAH nah, there’s no “go woke, go broke”, because we didn’t lose any money.”
Maybe/probably I'm afraid for nothing or not much. Anyway, I wouldn't buy the game, not because I'm going to boycott it but because I'm a PC player and the game is a PlayStation exclusive XD
Thanks for the reaction, hope Naughty Dog will correct the "shaver problem" ;)
she looks like you but in the video game
yeah but he's a guy so the look is natural on him. for her it looks forced.
You guys have a problem lol... He doesn't look like a bald girl, and she doesn't look like him at all.
I see people cry about the clippers. As a guy who shaved for the last 20 years.
I used both ways because it cuts different. The angle is different. Also for sharp cuts. I actually saw a famous barber do it back then. Make me think oh wait that makes sense for certain parts. So its nothing strange. Dont comment unless you know and tried it
I'd rather use a foil than cut my hair using the clippers the wrong way lmfao. Insane cope
0:01 it looks like she borrowed Scorsese's eyebrows.

There’s nothing boring at all about classic Asian girl face. Pretty things are never boring. It’s certainly a lot better than what you can see here!

I bet they do the trailer like that as a statement that they dont give a fck what gamer and anyone watch the trailer think =]] and they will do anything they want
Surely they could do that but gamer will vote by their wallet, with that kind of attitude of NaughtyDog like that they will fail for sure
Macross mentioned 🔥
You explained it very nicely 👌👌👌
At least it's not your typical bowl mushroom cut
I don’t need to be super attracted to the character to be able to like her
If it was a gritty and cocky male protagonist nobody would have a problem, I don’t get the double standard here
@@MrSirGut, I am speaking generally.
Bro if you love the setting and esthetics, just take a step back. It’s all good. Why do you hate this. Chill. I dont get the hate
People can complain all they wan't , just shows they've been mentally defeated lol. Regardless i'm buying the game if even for the soundtrack alone. It's amazing.
Motoko Kusanagi is my only true female protagonist since 1995
Very accurate observations.
The main character is literally me
You brought up a great point.
@@fattiger6957 Well, Leona from Dominion is not really competent but somehow still gets the job done (with lots of property and collateral damage😁).
@@fattiger6957Spot-on. Men are still the majority of the market when it comes to gaming, and especially space stuff.
You don’t need to feel entitled to be the default target audience for literally everything. Not everything needs to cater to you and that’s ok.
@@obvv7714 I agree with that sentiment, but it also goes along with companies being okay with those people not buying their products.
You a fool with that thumbnail 😂🤣
feels a bit cynical and trend following to do a "Future Funk" aesthetic with such a classic univers of 80's retro vibe like Guardian of the Galaxy or Stranger things. I do hope there is a "twist" to it
