@@TheSaabClinicUK The reason why I changed it because we had it laying around as a place holder. Once I upgrade the graphics card I’ll up the power supply again. Good eyes catching that!
You might be able to fit an SFX PSU entirely into the HP PSU case, with the innards removed from the HP. You could even mount a fan to the exterior, using the existing fan mount. In fact I wonder if you could fit an SFX PSU into the HP anyway, using two of the case screw holes as they are (being 52mm apart)?
Thank you Are these cables good? I will install a 1000 watt power supply Is connecting from 8 pin to 12 pin for the processor correct or is there a problem that may occur Have the cables been working successfully for you for this long period
@@atm2686 Thanks for the advice! I’m going to do another video on this again with a different HP computer soon, since the computer setup I have now, I’ve out grown it.
my 700w psu broke and instead of using velcro, i just zip tied a power supply at the back. doesn't look pretty but it works lol, and it the z440 is tucked under my desk so i am not too bothered. just have to buy 90 degree sata power cables so i can close the side panel
i transplanted the standard atx psu i use now, to the case of the broken 700w psu. it works and i don't have to zip tie it anymore. a little bit dangerous but doable if you like to tinker
if you've got the 700w psu it does have the 2x6 pin pcie connectors. the 525w i believe does not have any pcie connector. you can use the 9.5mm optical drive bay and power connector for a sata ssd caddy, that's what i did with mine
The Z440 has a 700w PSU, so you just changed it for one of the same capacity ?.

I'm running a 22 core Xeon very happy with the factory 700w PSU , But you could gut both supplies and use new inners with old psu case,

700 Watt Struggles with RTX demanding games though, i upgraded mine to 1500 watt
Thank you

Use a heat gun or hair blow dryer on when using double sided tape to help it stick better also alcohol clean both surfaces

Fatter making this video the power supply came off the adhesive I placed. I added a zip tie as well and it’s. Been working fine since.

I guess you were not up for using a dremel to cut the top bulge out of the case, to make the PSU fit flush to the back?
@@Nick_R_ I’m planning on buying another HP work station, I’d most likely would have to buy another Dremel since I lost mine. Good idea!
why did you change the power supply? I feel the z440 had an excellent 700w power supply already installed at the factory?
@@JamesJReid I changed it due to the fact I want to add a more powerful graphics card in the computer.

@@MeatyLegendThat’s good to know, but I think I’m just going to leave the drive the way it is.
Added a 1500 watt PSU to mine, as the 700 Watt psu kept shutting off (can't handle the RTX)
The after market psu you choosed is not the same form factor.👏
None of the power supplies you can buy will fit in it. Only the oem power supply will fit.
