And, because I remember him suffering through it, Omega did beat Linhardt & Leonie's Paralogue. Big surprise, that was the one he spent the most time on. Hilda & Cyril's Paralogue is still impossible to solo, though.
@@metashadow24 For me it was really between Elegard who mad crushes on you for the whole game and Dorothea because she is the best I forgot who I choose
Can we talk about how " A Funeral of Flowers" is one of the most amazing final maps theme in Fire Emblem period. Like seriously, that shit is a real banger
The first part did actually inspire me to do the same run on my own, though I did 'taint' it by cheese-grinding early on with broken weapons in the weak early aux battles, giving me much better hit and avoid rates early on thanks to much higher Prowess skills and allowed me to play around a lot more with different classes. Notable differences to your run include: - The Miklan battle can be cheesed pretty heavily by going Archer and moving out of the central room. The beast will pursue you to the stairs but can't pass them, and if it can't attack you, it can't charge up its Staggering Blow, which means it can't regenerate its armor. Being an Archer, Byleth could attack from outside its range entirely, chip open its armor and make the whole thing go by a lot faster and safer, tho Curved Shot in non-Archer classes can probably still do it pretty easily without hitting the turn cap. - Vantage/Wrath Bow Knight is amazing for this run. Basically anything that is not a monster or a battalion enemy is almost a complete non-issue bc it dies before being a threat - I managed the first post-TS chapter by going Bow Knight, shooting down the Peg first and then bolting immediately to the left to catch the cavs and pegs threatening to seize next turn. I didn't actually know about the seize trick where you just stand on the seize tile and counter everyone who tries to seize to death yet, so I had to battalion the enemies there to stun them (this was actually the first chapter where I was forced to use an adjutant bc I needed the gambit boost damage to take out the first one, otherwise I couldn't have killed them in time). The Swordmaster on the right stayed on the seize tile and needed to get pretty lucky, which cost a bunch of tries, and while on the winning run she did eventually die with the Archer still alive and ready to seize, I was done with the left hand enemies so I ran back over in hopes of distracting him, and that's when I found out about the seize trick bc I just barely ended up in three tiles' range of the seize tile so the archer died on enemy phase :P - The rest of the run was more or less trivial since there's not a lot that threatens a Vantage/Wrath Bow Knight with ridiculous overkill Str. I usually beat monsters by hiding in a forest and enemy phasing them, sometimes picking them off on player phase if I could finish off a health bar, and my main battalion was the Leicester Mercenaries for its delicious Hit and Crit boosts helping with reliable Vantage/Wrath strats. I've really grown to like this battalion a lot lately, it's great for Vantage/Wrath cheese even in non solo environments, same with the Goneril Valkyries. - For the final battle, I brought some swords to have Windsweep as an option. If Rhea would hit me on enemy phase, I'd Windsweep, if she didn't I'd Brave Bow, and canto out of range to heal up either way. The White Beasts weren't too much of an issue, with forest Avoid and effective damage on my side I could clean them up pretty efficiently, and around turn 30ish the way to Rhea (from the lower right side in my case, I didn't bother clearing out all the other golems but the one there) was free. Ended somewhere in the 70s on the turncount, and since she decided to be a cheeky dick about it and procced Miracle, I went for the ultimate disrespect and finished the run with a Ballista shot :P
I'm jealous of your success with Vantage/Wrath on Byleth. it doesn't work well for me because the Crest of Flames keeps healing me out of the desired HP range. And ah, yes, Windsweep. Very useful in this challenge when you need to damage a boss/beast that hits hard. Wish I realized Byleth learned it sooner in my runs! 🤪 Disrespect Ballista is my favorite way to kill Death Knight!
@@ducklingcore Initially I wanted to go for Defiant Crit over Wrath so I'd have the critrate on player phase, Crest of Flame showed me pretty quickly that that wasn't going to be an option :P But with the treshold being 50% HP rather than 25%, it usually worked out pretty well where if the crest procced and healed me out of Wrath range, Byleth was then in the HP range to live another hit, which especially came in handy against monsters. Sure, some enemies might live the round, but it'd be the kind that doesn't pose a threat, and with them weakened the chances were lower that a Crest proc on them would heal Byleth enough to go over half next round. It's not 100% RNG-proof, but hey, when have solo strats (that aren't Nosferatu Robin lol) ever been RNG-proof
18:38 I was so mad about the game lying to me about that since in my first playthrough I was able to work out a strategy to get her to the arrive point turn one without her triggering the reinforcements and the game just said "nah we want you to rout the map anyways"

Even though a Maddening Solo run with Byleth has already been done by someone else, your run has still merit from the fact that it was done without using the DLC. The DLC makes Maddening much easier in general (although not to the point where it becomes a cakewalk). You have the stat-boosters you mentioned in the video, you have the Chalice of the Beginnings (which nullifies weakness to effective damage and gives you distant counter), you have the ability to buy more statue bonuses earlier on, you have the sauna to more easily train your units, you have auxiliary battles for double gold regards as an actual source of Exp and stat-boosters, and some other more perks. Maybe you could edit the titles of these videos to highlight that it was done without the DLC. Something like "Can You Beat Maddening Mode With Only Byleth Without the DLC or New Game Plus?"
I have done just axu battles and anna quets from dlc maddening byleth solo and i can say that it is pretty much a cakewalk axu battles can really break the gama ballance due to their 1 stat drop item each battle. i ended up with byleth so strong that in last map he couldnt even be killed.
@@M0rgi I also trained a very buffed up Byleth on Maddening NG giving him stat-boosters from the auxiliary battles and gardening. Having such an overpowered unit definitely makes the game quite easy. Making use of the auxiliary battles to increase your party's levels also helps. But the thing is that on Maddening, you can't actually have many units whose levels constantly surpass those of the enemies because of how the exp system works on that mode (but you can still have a couple at most, if you go into every "Spirits of the Fallen" tile in auxiliary and main battles or spam Dance/Faith magic). I definitely agree that things are easy enough for one to be confortable and confident with not having to do multiple attempts to clear any given map. But I wouldn't call it a "cakewalk". For me, a "cakewalk" is something like Normal NG+, where you can do whatever you want without thinking much and you're still fine. Maddening NG with DLC still requires some thought.
@@swhawk the only semi difficult part of maddening solo was start of the run. Because you are at the will of rng. Game is a sandbox with so many mechanics that can be exploited to utterly break the game a lot of them dlc provides. If you actually want you can reach stat cap of every stat on byleth. On my Verdant wind i maxed every stat except magic and charm because they were least relevant stats. If you dont know to exploit it then game can provide a challenge but if you go for maximum efficiency for some reason you break it.
@@M0rgi Wow, I really didn't know you could reach almost all stat caps if you feed all the available stat-boosters to Byleth. I didn't think there would be enough stat-boosters to do that even if you count all the missions, paralogues, auxiliary battles, Anna's quests (and shop), and exploited gardening. Did you also have to farm stat-boosters from the Holy Tomb on New Game+, or were the stat-boosters available in a New Game file enough?
@@swhawk Before Byleth faced Nemesis in combat his stats were: Str: 91 Mag: 29 Dex: 73 Spd: 76 Lck: 71 Def: 62 Res 64 Cha 81 they got so high due to all stat boosters and abusing divine pulse/retreat to bless byleth level ups. Pretty much every level up after level 10 was 6 point level up min. it was all done without newgame+ just dlc boosts and a massive amount of grind.
I didn't know anyone else did this I did a NG+ Solo Byleth run on Church Route I kinda cheated and used holy tomb so I ended with like....45+ in every stat, some even capped like HP and Luck I did use different rules though: 1. I did not allow adjutants 2. I did allow the use of support gambits and items but only on forced deployed units, because this was required for a few paralouges mainly (Stride, torches, etc.) 3. A forced myself to beat every paralouge (Hilda's was a nightmare...) 4. I allowed DLC items/Holy Tomb
You were able to beat Hilda's paralogue with just Byleth trained? What did you have equipped to Hilda/Cyril to help you out? That map's a struggle in a duo run with DLC, let alone a solo. And did your paralogues include Anna's? I found that one also annoying with all the enemy battalions and bow knights after a fleeing Anna. But I attempted that in a duo run with low-charm Ashe, and under-leveled Byleth, so maybe it's easier with just high-charm Byleth...
@@ducklingcore Hilda's was literally the worst one, it took me hundreds of resets to basically get like 5 dodges from the green units while I handled the initial wave, I also found that Cyril wasn't targeted if I didn't move him and Hilda I just kept out of enemy range. It was also a map that I forced myself to use dancer battalions and a dancer on, since I just could not beat it any other way And yes I did Anna's but I didn't exactly do that good on it since I just went straight for the boss instead of getting the loot
inspired by first video i decided to do my own male byleth solo without adjutants but i did use dlc axu battles and they were enough to utterly break the ballance of the game. last map was more of a joke to immortal byleth. with that in mind i wanted to mess around even further and revisit my first rout which is Verdant Wind this time on maddening and totaly humiliate Nemesis by killing him on turn 1 with a rusted sword without killing any of his generals. It was quite fun and a testament to how broken this game can be once you understand how to exploit certain mechanics
Excellent video, that got really tense honestly. Another interesting Maddening solo I think would be Dimitri. He already sort've carries AM so it'd be fun to see.
You did this without the DLC items and even did some of the harder paralogues! This is freaking crazy! Mad respect :) I struggled on chapter 14 the most even with my best units on maddening lol. I think chapter 13 is a bit overrated when it comes to difficulty tho. Since exp is cut in half on maddening I imagine that a Byleth only run should be a cake walk on hard. Maybe I should do one for fun 😂
Remember that at the same time he’s pouring all his stat boosters into one strong unit, whereas with other units you probably spread the stat boosts to make the team even
Honestly in a lot of RPGs with resource management for a team, shoving it all into one units is usually the EASIER way to play. Granted the rule-set makes this a lot more difficult than you would generally have in a relaxed play-through, as enemies are strong in Maddening mode but hey... divine pulse and pray. I still give him props for doing it though, I would't have had the patience most likely.
This playthrough did not come easy either. He restarted entire playthroughs of this due to bad stat growths multiple times, not to mention the countless hours he must have spent redoing many of these levels. He proved that it is possible, but not without a lot of time, energy, and frustration.
Dang Mek, this is amazing. I’ve been inspired to try my own Byleth solo now... except I’m going to do it on Maddening NG+, since I’m not quite that insane.
YOOOO, OMEGA WIITH THE CLUTCH! I've been following that dude since 2008 or so with his Tales playthroughs. Him and WishingTikal are some of the first channels I followed upon getting an account
As bad as it may sound, this is honestly a large part of it. My boyfriend plays Three Houses and I watch and assist as much as possible. We regularly get hit at low percentages (15% - 25%) by enemies while missing often, sometimes consecutively with multiple characters with different attacks and gambits in a row, at hit percentages as high as 85%-95%. Likewise, we have had character frequently miss criticals at high percentages (75% and higher), even in moves allowing for two attacks, like Hunter's Volley and the gauntlets. We once had Hilda with an extreme build with 96% and 98% critical rates, only for them to activate half the time. I noticed that Mangs lands two hits at about 38% each in one round, which we would be blessed if we could land even one of those hits in our game, as the RNG screws us in favor of the PC/enemy. He also certifies for a master class at 30%; unfortunately, we also get screwed in this department as we normally need at least 75% to pass. We've only had the rare chance of passing once or twice below that mark after a dozen or more playthroughs with different houses, characters, and classes. I really don't know if he experiences the same issues, but with the mechanics and flawed probabilities that we experience, even with the best strategies and upgrades we could not be able to do it because of how often the game is unfair to us. I would really like to know if anyone else has been having this problem.
@@Edgeperor I honestly wish that was true. We are still playing actively and had one of our characters fail exams at 75% 4 weeks in a row. At least in our game, luck has very rarely been on our side.
@@TownieSimBuilds I'm sorry to hear that.... but also, glad I'm not the only one. Whenever I hear mekkah talking about "these attacks have almost no chance of hitting", and I see 28%, all I think is "damn, I get hit by about 5 of those every single battle. IF I'm lucky. Honestly, with like 38%, I get hit far more often than I don't. I love all the FE games, a lot; but I've never seen such player screwing rng in 25 years of gaming. And I was grinding in the nioh games for like 2 years.... I feel like it's coded in to constantly fuck over the player. I think over a couple thousand hours, over all the FE games I've played, what I would call "lucky", is just the rng working as normal. I've only gotten truly lucky, 5 times in ALL of FE gameplay. So yeah, I definitely wouldn't say we're "only remembering the unlucky times"
@@ricardodarcangelo2437 Yes, exactly! It's such a shame, as the game makes itself obvious in its tactics to screw you over and defy the odds of logic. Missing 2 criticals at 98% twice while landing both hits at 95-100 hit with Petra says it all. Meanwhile, getting hit four times at 10-15% in a row by a grappler.. words cannot express how many times the game has done stuff like this. Even worse is that normal mode has you landing criticals left and right at 10-20%. I'm glad someone else has had this experience so my partner and I don't feel like we're losing our minds with this terrible, programmed 'bad luck.' Fire Emblem really needs to fix its algorithms and stop making artificial crutches and boosts.

Congrats Mekkah! That was beautiful. Nicely done I must say. This make me want to try it myself but not solo. It will be a duo with one of the lord. I haven't decide who yet but I'm leaning toward Edelgard cuz her route is the shortest one.
Dude this is epic!! I have a maddening run going on atm for the black eagles (although not a solo run) but I haven’t played it for a while, so this has definitely given me the motivation to head back to it!
I watched part 2 of this video when it first came out, but I think I've finally been inspired to do a solo run after rewatching! I don't think I'm too great at fe3h yet, and I certainly don't know all the ins and outs of it (even after 200+ hours) so I'm gonna do a run with only Claude and Byleth. I think I might be a little more lenient on rules (like playing on hard instead of maddening), but I'm still REALLY excited to start that in the next few days! Thank you so much for the inspiration for my own solo run, and HUGE congrats for accomplishing this solo run!
Excellent video! These videos have definitely been some of my favourites from you, extremely entertaining and educating. Seeing one of my least favourite maps in the entire series (Silver Snow's endgame) being beaten on the hardest difficulty with one character was both cathartic and frustrating lol.
God watching that last map gave me flashbacks to my gauntlet only run - absolute hell to beat Rhea with such a limited kit! Mad props on not giving up on this run despite the difficulty.
Ya know, 3h has something nobody ever mentions. This game, is flexible. What do I mean? This game can be beaten in so many different ways no matter how bad the chances seem to be stacked against you some times. Whilst yes, this can be bad in certain instances, I feel like its mainly a positive, it allows for so much experimentation and challenge runs, like this one, and 0% growths, and even an iron man with the right ammount of planning, the amount of flexibility and replayability this game has is insane. So congrats on the solo mekkah! Hope to see more 3h challenges in the future
Every FE game game besides Awakening has been beaten in 0% growths. 3H is more customizable than every other FE game, but it's a bit of a strech to call it incredebly flexible
I'd call ironmanning a stretch, because 3H isn't really good to ironman. You get most of your units very early on and are cut off from recruiting more at the timeskip with few exceptions. That makes it incredibly difficult to replace a dead unit. And any replacements you might still have are really hard to raise after the timeskip due to the difficulty spike.
Just got my first fe3h ending so I started watching fe3h videos, this is the ending I got lol. Fuckin blew me away that Byleth could go so hard not to mention on the hardest difficulty. Great vid👍
He actually would've had it pretty easy if he didn't mess up at the end there. He forgot about the physic dudes so he didn't have all his units with him. Wolt could do 64 damage (I think?) in one player phase with 4 hits on the S rank bow, then Roy could swoop in with the Binding Blade for 14 damage (I think?). I don't remember the exact numbers, but if even this wasn't enough, he could have used Percival. Some might complain about that Brave Bow glitch, but Mangs could've just used Roy instead, as Roy definitely did more than 10 damage to Zephiel.
@@smarthipan what are you talking about? Sue and Dayan and inventories full of bows and Roy still had the Binding Blade. Mangs was nowhere close to losing, he was just freaking out about nothing
Wow, huge props. I had just tried this last month before seeing this video. Except I was just using the rule that Byleth had to get all of the kills. But even with that, I forgot about the Battle of Garreg Mach and got soft locked on it. That's crazy that you did it completely solo.
I was really curious to know how you were going to succeed in chapter 14 without the DLC (since I used the Chalice of Beginnings in my own run). I'm very impressed. Well done Mekkah!
I can't believe you actually did it. I tried this run a while ago with Lysithea, but in the end I had to use Byleth as well for chapter 14 and the final boss. On the plus side I got her to S+ in literally every skill and mastered every class except the DLC classes. Perhaps I could try as a Valkyrie or Dark Flier in future...
Awesome play through of your experience Mekkah, respect man. I have a suggestion for you from my own church maddening playthrough regarding the last level with Rhea. I used the shield that we acquire from Rhea's paralogue (the one that halves monster damage) and it made it much easier to tank Rhea at the end. I had to solo tank Rhea as she would kill my students in 1hit so eventually I had to figure out a tact in order to be able to survive her attacks, like you did. So I would recommend to everyone and you, for a future play-through to use Rhea's shield to tank her :)

Notable differences to your run include:
- The Miklan battle can be cheesed pretty heavily by going Archer and moving out of the central room.
Basically anything that is not a monster or a battalion enemy is almost a complete non-issue bc it dies before being a threat
- I managed the first post-TS chapter by going Bow Knight, shooting down the Peg first and then bolting immediately to the left to catch the cavs and pegs threatening to seize next turn. The Swordmaster on the right stayed on the seize tile and needed to get pretty lucky, which cost a bunch of tries, and while on the winning run she did eventually die with the Archer still alive and ready to seize, I was done with the left hand enemies so I ran back over in hopes of distracting him, and that's when I found out about the seize trick bc I just barely ended up in three tiles' range of the seize tile so the archer died on enemy phase :P
- The rest of the run was more or less trivial since there's not a lot that threatens a Vantage/Wrath Bow Knight with ridiculous overkill Str.
You mean 2nd chapter post timeskip?
I'm jealous of your success with Vantage/Wrath on Byleth. it doesn't work well for me because the Crest of Flames keeps healing me out of the desired HP range.
And ah, yes, Windsweep. Very useful in this challenge when you need to damage a boss/beast that hits hard. Wish I realized Byleth learned it sooner in my runs! 🤪
Disrespect Ballista is my favorite way to kill Death Knight!
@@ducklingcore Initially I wanted to go for Defiant Crit over Wrath so I'd have the critrate on player phase, Crest of Flame showed me pretty quickly that that wasn't going to be an option :P
But with the treshold being 50% HP rather than 25%, it usually worked out pretty well where if the crest procced and healed me out of Wrath range, Byleth was then in the HP range to live another hit, which especially came in handy against monsters.
Ashe: “You saved me... why?”
Byleth: “MMM. Monkey.”
18:38 I was so mad about the game lying to me about that since in my first playthrough I was able to work out a strategy to get her to the arrive point turn one without her triggering the reinforcements and the game just said "nah we want you to rout the map anyways"
Swordmaster: arrives
Enemies: ARRIVEDERCI
Ah hah, good for you
I was two enemies to routing the map without reinforcements... Planned to take them out with bolting/meteor. Apparently the game just went "lol u thought" for no reason on turn 10 and out came all the back up!
The reinforcements came when turn 10 happend i rescued bernadetta the first assassin died but there were 2 assassins so petra died i had a lot of divine pulses i was playing in normal mode i was just annoyed
Mekkah, I know times are tough now that Mangs beat Zephiel, but know that we are here for you in these trying times.

@@swhawk Before Byleth faced Nemesis in combat his stats were:
Str: 91
Mag: 29
Dex: 73
Spd: 76
Lck: 71
Def: 62
Res 64
Cha 81
they got so high due to all stat boosters and abusing divine pulse/retreat to bless byleth level ups. Pretty much every level up after level 10 was 6 point level up min. it was all done without newgame+ just dlc boosts and a massive amount of grind.

That final confrontation was actually incredibly tense, and it made Rhea feel like a legit raid boss or something. That was amazing to watch.
“I will spill every drop of blood in your body to fulfill the goal of the agarthans!” Byleth:”No thanks.”
I didn't know anyone else did this
I did a NG+ Solo Byleth run on Church Route
I kinda cheated and used holy tomb so I ended with like....45+ in every stat, some even capped like HP and Luck
I did use different rules though:
1. I did not allow adjutants
2. I did allow the use of support gambits and items but only on forced deployed units, because this was required for a few paralouges mainly (Stride, torches, etc.)
3. A forced myself to beat every paralouge (Hilda's was a nightmare...)
It was also a map that I forced myself to use dancer battalions and a dancer on, since I just could not beat it any other way
And yes I did Anna's but I didn't exactly do that good on it since I just went straight for the boss instead of getting the loot
Imagine how much harder this run would have been had divine pulse not existed

inspired by first video i decided to do my own male byleth solo without adjutants but i did use dlc axu battles and they were enough to utterly break the ballance of the game. last map was more of a joke to immortal byleth. with that in mind i wanted to mess around even further and revisit my first rout which is Verdant Wind this time on maddening and totaly humiliate Nemesis by killing him on turn 1 with a rusted sword without killing any of his generals. It was quite fun and a testament to how broken this game can be once you understand how to exploit certain mechanics

I admire the dedication to go through something like this.
Excellent video, that got really tense honestly. Another interesting Maddening solo I think would be Dimitri. He already sort've carries AM so it'd be fun to see.
19:40 The Bow, Flying, and Authority levels spell out how this map is for solo runs.
Dang... Mekkah's too good. For me, I can barely scrape by in maddening even WITH other units T_T
I can't imagine the patience this took, great job on both the run and the subs man
"Not a self proclaimed fire emblem expert" yo omega evolution trounces almost every single game he plays.

The final battle was truly a battle of the top 10 Anime variety.
Dang Mek, this is amazing. I’ve been inspired to try my own Byleth solo now... except I’m going to do it on Maddening NG+, since I’m not quite that insane.
Love the effort you put into editing and the Voice Over, it was a very engaging 46 minute video. Thank you for suffering for the greater good
Straight from Mangs' Ironman
YOOOO, OMEGA WIITH THE CLUTCH!
I've been following that dude since 2008 or so with his Tales playthroughs. Him and WishingTikal are some of the first channels I followed upon getting an account
my main takeaway here was that mangs would have no trouble with this since it was largely luck based
As bad as it may sound, this is honestly a large part of it.
TS95 Studios I think you might only be remembering the most unlucky of times.

This was very well done! Very tense towards the end of it. Congrats on doing the near impossible.
Hooray for Dorothea being chosen as well!
Now if only it did not have Sonic 06 Levels of loading times and it would be a good game to play.
Great vid👍

That was almost a humongous choke at the end there one more turn and he probably would've run out of tools
