Last time I played, I spent 20 minutes getting my character all equipped, fed, hydrated, spent 5 minutes just waiting around for my ship, and then waited about 30 seconds after the hangar doors opened to take off….before my ship blew up because the server thought the doors were closed when they were open….just turned off the game and decided to wait until the next patch to see if it gets any better.
Exact same thing happened to me, with the introduction of the replication layer I guess these sorts of things became more common. Hopefully they smooth it out for 4.0, as the replication layer is the main indicator of whether or not server meshing will be functional.
Yeah, my main issue with SC is that that has been my experience almost every time I've logged in for the last 5 years.
They need to resolve most of these long standing bugs before people will be able to take SC seriously as a game.
Same.
I love this game but it butt fucks me every time I try to play.
It feels like I'm in an abusive relationship ... it's always 'going to be great', but never seems to get there.
LOL that happened in the EPTU and possible first day of release. You clearly haven't been playing the live version, not for any amount ot time anyway.
Happened to me like 20 times in 2 month
The issue with resource management and repair is the combat has to last long enough to allow the enginer to actually do something about it......and the engineer has to be able to move throughout the ship to be able to achieve it.
They implemented an armour placeholder in 3.23 that makes it where ships do not pop as easily, especially industrial ships like the MISC ones. You actually have to use precision sub-targeting to target the components to disable them, which is a precursor to how fights will play out when Maelstrom comes online.
Have you ever used a bigship in combat scenarios this patch? It lasts long af

i cannot w8 to see u all try to exit torrent chair to fix your ship haha lol guys the boldly game is broken it dos not work , and im not talking about bugs , bugs we can deal with the F 20 fps the input lag the npc teleport all the time the inventory lag , haha man Star citizen players are so brain wash jepg collectors . And lets not talk about pay to win where majority have buy ships with real money and game balance is = 0 , no point to farm no point to craft(when and if it will come) When u buy items with real money they will be in your inventory forever and eve. And what do u all think this whales will do in game ? go farm ofc not they will grief the shit out players who spend 45$ cause they have all they need before the game starts. Think ppl use your brain u are all cannon meat for the avocado Groupe and wave 1 and wave 2 and wave 3 and wave 4 hahahah CANNON MEAT . U will sit 30 min to w8 for a cooldown they will press retrieve. This game will never launch cause they know it will fail from start. But u all can hope and keep dreaming and keep defending this abomination saying to your sef look at the progress :) , well in 4 years i see the same shit server lag buttons no working inventory lag NPC teleport nothing is change just some jepg on UI and u all go bananas. Enjoy the BS it will last all your life and beyond if u keep kissing CIG ass
What this game needs the most is ... gamification ! It is currently nearly only based on gaining credits to buy ships. The reputaton systen is just a way to unlock missions to gain more credits.
Moreover, they need to bring more life to the game with active NPCs doing things on planets and space. And to replace static locations and demo missions with procedural varied missions.
Too many online "do what you want" games seem to think they can't also have a few decent multi step story line quests in too without it being considered a game like World of Warcraft. Not asking for much, just a few short 4-6 hour or so long basic story lines like you'd find a load of in WoW or Skyrim or something. Instead they just shove in a load of meaningless "kill this person for X credits and X rep", "deliver this thing for X credits and X rep".
Id much rather have Gameplay be a focus along with expansion of the In-Game Universe before any story Implementation or expanded questing that grants more to the play to explore rather than simply slap one in when the game has so much more to offer with QOL/Expansions
Though I do agree, Static animations for NPC's would be great to make the world feel lived in
@@walker1054 Agreed ... but games like Elite D also have big events like alien incursions going on in the background. The 'lore' is all well and good, but it's all just historical detail, there is no 'living universe' behind what we've got at Stanton.
Yeah you need to understand development first. Basically gamification sits on top of all other systems. It's a bit like the mission system. You need all the dependant parts in place. The mission refinement, community drivven elements and gameification are going to be the last things to be perfected. Yes there are some of these at the moment, but I'm expecting these to change quite a bit. The game is still very much in development.
Agree. But not only that. There is still a plethora of other purely game-design questions to be considered before it can become a game really. But we're still waiting for just core techs to appear 😒I wish the appearance of SM acted as a knocked out cork which will free their hands (as many people hope). But, honestly, I'm a bit sceptical about that. Despite being a core tech and absolute necessity, it does not solve all those other numerous questions and problems.
Something Im worried about with the engineering is we're gonna need even more setup time before every session like getting fuses and canisters for the multitool every time you respawn the ship.
I would love if you could choose a preset of equipment that the ship spawns with (maybe adapted to what the current station has to offer) for a fee of whatever that equipment cost. Just something to not have to take an hour just to stack everything up again.
I'm thinking that with persistent hangars and boxes, we can load up all the gear we need into a crate and then tractor the appropriate cargo box into the hold and go.
... and by 'thinking', I obviously mean 'hoping'.
I'm hoping that requesting ships to hangers will be able to have loadouts. Like, yes I do want you to pull from my storage 5 behring smgs to stock the weapon racks on my caterpillar and fill the storage with various parts and fuses.
Something like EVEs fitting system.
I wouldn't be against the extra prep time IF the servers were actually performing well, the UI wasn't so tedious to use and the general flow of the game was smoother and more convenient. It takes like 10 minutes just to buy items, get your gear, make your way to the spaceport, make your way to the hangar, get your ship and take off.
You're asking for gamification over realism... Go play Fortnite

The log thing has always confused me. How hard can it be to just let me log out when the fuck I want to and where I want to.
It's still always a fun time with the boys tho
At one point I was very excited for this game. This “game” doesn’t feel like a game. Freelancer was brought to life with riveting storyline at the heart of it all. Fun gameplay. This is setting up to be a grinder with no purpose.
Its funfor 20 mins.. then.... i discover anything is more fun and want my 20 min back
It all sounds great but it's hard to get excited when the game barely functions. They can add 100 star systems, the best UI ever, and all the space cows in the galaxy but it's all meaningless if the game can't perform basic functions reliably.
This ☝
What basic functions are you talking about? This sounds like a troll message. There are several issues but the core mechanics seem fine to me. Reputation is probably the biggest failing at the moment as that's broken on many missions but there's a lot influx as you would expect in agame in development. However there's also a lot that does work and can be enjoyed. Sounds like you are not cut out to be a tester and should probably wait for the 1.0 release.
@@dtrjones Every gameplay loop is disconnected and therefore meaningless. Why do you mine asteroids? To sell them. Why do you buy cargo? To sell it. Why do you salvage? To sell it… Nothing affects each other, its like playing three different games and all of them are outmatched by games specializing in these game loops.
@@dtrjones You ask me what functions and call ME the troll? All while telling me to get lost and come back in 1.0 when what exactly? All the functions that I'm trolling about, and you have no idea about, will be gone? Get serious, you're trolling me. I've been in game a lot this week, and anyone who has knows that there are a multitude of serious issues and listing even just the major ones would make this a very long comment.
It’s meaningless to fix issues and spend money and resources if they are adding new content every patch. Bugs will exist until the game is at least beta which is why the game is still in alpha
Man looking back i kinda wish they had used that prototype anvil HUD. The new S42 one looks really good but it doesnt compare to that prototype, i love how the ship silouette is minimalistifc instead of just the ship model, and how it blends black white and red instead of it all being shades of blue. I feel like its more easy to tell things apart and its more iconic aswell, it stands out alot
Is it happening tho? I’ll believe it when I can functionally play it on the PU. Fingers crossed.
Said it was in the road map for 4.0 which is set to release this year. Will it happen? Yes. Will it be buggy like everything else? Most definitely. lol
"Right around the corner" has been the phrase for YEARS i don't believe it in the slightest.
I'm not gonna let myself feel any hope, just take what comes. Personally i don't see Star Citizen every getting off the ground.
But i already bought in cheaply when this kicked off, and i might as well keep my eye on it.
@@thecommenter9678 Yes but you are bright enough to recongnise that 4.0 has never been the next patch on the release view until now. We are getting close, I believe 4.0 may not happen Q3 but it will happen this year.
@@dtrjones Won't hold my breath, but i will accept good if good comes.
I wouldn’t believe cig if they said they could change a lightbulb.
I have learned that with SC you have to add the word PERHAPS to all goals.
I will believe it only after I can download the patch... 4.0 and Pyro was supposed to be end of last year, now it is this year and I will not be surprissed if it is moved to next year.
Lmao remember when they said it would be out in 3.18? Good lies.
@@theonefrancis696 They said what would be out in 3.18? 4.0 and Pyro? That doesn't make any sense, 4.0 and Pyro have always been intertwined. Did they lie, or did you just misunderstand what they said?
They will 100% sell more ships for actual cash though.... im now jumping on the "this is a scam" boat.
Pyro has been dangled at the sales events for years. I'd follow development more if most of their content and communication wouldn't feel like watching QvC with that constant FOMO high pressure tactics.
@@rolinthor Ummm... Forecast by who?
At no point in 2021, 2022, or 2023 were we told by CIG that 4.0 would be releasing that year. You're mixing up CIG's "forecasts and predictions" with the community's. At most, they may have expressed some vague hope that it would be possible, but it's not like they've been literally saying "later this year" every single year like Elon does with FSD.
Yes, in the very "early days" CIG made some projections about their plans for the "road to 4.0," and those projections ended up being way off. They kept talking about 4.0/Pyro after that, but they didn't "forecast" a release every year and then fail to deliver. You want to act like it's been the same empty promises year after year, but 2024 is the only time 4.0 has actually made it onto the schedule in any concrete way.
And yeah, it is possible that it could get pushed into next year... but who cares? This isn't a typical game development project that can be planned out step by step and follow a rigid schedule. Nobody else is trying to make a game like this because they can't commit the unknown amount of time or money needed for R&D. If you want games that release "on time," the rest of the industry has you covered. If you want something with a shred of ambition, you might need a shred of flexibility.
Damn they really weren’t kidding about allocating more resources to the PU. These are some really massive changes and additions
For years they switched from a 50/50 focus to the MMO side only getting 25% of the dev resources. They warned it would feel like another 2.x content drought era but would come with a big payoff at the end. It appears they are actually making good on that claim as the smaller dev pool is polishing the single player game and the MMO now getting the main focus.
Makes you wonder how much progress could've been made if Star Citizen was the focus and not Squadron 42 :/
Don't forget that just about everything dev'd for SQ42 is transferable to the SC verse.
So its really no loss. We just didn't see the work being done in a single player closed environment.
Build it an enclosed single player and polish it, and if it has issues when ported into the MMO, than its likely a network issue, Which is easier to find and resolve.
And it still took them 6 months to port over from S404 a hand full of back end features that add next to zero gameplay... but hey, its "ThE bIgGeSt PaTcH yEt!!!!1!!!11".
@@pistonsrule82 A successful SQ42 is massive for the continued success for SC as a whole. Until now CIG has not proven than they are even able to produce a functioning game that is fun to play. All we have now are a rough tech demo, our dreams and their plans to go on. If SQ 42 is a masterpiece with good mainstream success it will 1. dramatically improve their financial situation giving them their first real income stream not based on the whims of backers. 2. Boost confidence in the project as a whole because now we have proof that they can actually do what they claim and 3. introduce a flood of new peopleto the game that do not follow gaming news (this is the vast majority).
On the other hand if SQ42 releases in a broken state or just plainly sucks, or even is mediocre, it will be a disaster.
Everyone is so excited about Pyro, and I'm over here like, okay, we can do the same thing we already do but in new locations which really just amounts to 'the ground we fly over will be a different color'.
I think you're missing the point.
@@TheLozfan1000I think his point is the same point everyone has been making since the beginning. 100 worlds aren’t any different from 10 if there isn’t any persistent content to make it worth traversing amongst them.
I think it will just feel the exact same, with more people and another system. I hate the FPS and flight IN 3.23 and 4.0 sure as hell isn’t going to fix it.
Should fill pyro with the alien ships and planet side that would want players to band together to defeat them in PvE.
Agreed. Coop PVE is where it is at!
Great idea
Totatly disagree. They need to add a Vandul system though soon where you can do that.
What does 4.0 being just around the corner even mean when it comes to Cig? Is it happening near the end of the year? Next year? Or in the next five years?
Means that it's actually the next major patch in release view. They've been talking about 4.0 for years, but it wasn't on release view at any point until now. So yes, it will be by the end of the year.
Between now and Soon tm
@@neofromthewarnerbrothersic145 There's nothing in the world stopping them from adding another 3.23.x patch in December and saying it needs to cook longer. 3.23.1 shows that their networking and desync issues are substantial even without the most basic version of server meshing in place. In the PTU tests earlier this year, when there were 800 people in Stanton, controlled by (I think) 5 DGS under static server meshing, it was taking people up to 5 minutes to do simple things like pull out a weapon or drink a Cruz Lux. They have a long way to go.
@@neofromthewarnerbrothersic145 It was on the release view in 3.4 and then again in 3.6. Scratched both times, of course.
@@rolinthor Okay, so back in like 2018/19? Would you say that means it's just as likely to get scratched again this time?
You should make movies for Star Citizens because of how cinematic your videos are.
Although 4.0 is meant to come within the next 3'ish months, We all really know CIG will push it back to next year, They are untrustworthy and have never been able to keep to any sort of schedule.
Even leaving all of the bugs and performance issues aside, Star Citizen is still a shell of a game. There's no real feel that there's any point to do anything unless you're quite simply in the mood or you want to try something new that you haven't seen or experienced before. But as far as an actual game that keeps you glued and excited to play day in and day out, there's just nothing there for that.
The game is basically their ships. But once you've spent enough time in the game and owned every ship in the game at some point, there's very little motivating factors to keep you going. You'll often see players just standing at stations while talking in global chat because there's nothing to do that interests them.
I thought I’d try the game again last night. I bought a 14K hot suit to mine on Aberdeen (of my 25k). Then I landed at Gate 3 in Hurston to get my ROC. The terminal was bugged, so I took the train to the spaceport, got a Pisces and loaded it into my Carrack. This took maybe 40 minutes. Then I went to Aberdeen to get my ROC. I painstakingly aligned the ship ramp to the pad ramp and retrieved my ROC. I had to do it quickly because some player ships were trying to ram my ROC. I sustained damage but ultimately mined about 80k of gems. I returned to a different site to sell them, but encountered griefers there too. A player was trying to get into my ship, so I had to keep moving my landing site. I finally got my ROC out and secured my Carrack. But a large ship (hammerhead?) used its nose to turn over my ROC just feet away from storage and pay day. I tried to take the gems out of storage, but the ship kept ramming me until I died - after 2+ hours. When I respawned, I was faced with an empty Carrack and a 30 minute insurance wait time. But now I can’t afford a hot suit and had to go to work. If this is emergent game play, I hate it. The worst thing about Star Citizen isn’t the bugs. It’s the players.
What the hell this sounds made up. I never have this many issues in a single play session. You encountered that many players/trolls in one sitting??
@@artuno1207 Yes. It was what it was. Maybe I’m unlucky.
So to sum that up, you're whining because in this *multiplayer* game, the people you self associated with by playing alongside, didn't want to play the game in your prescribed method, and ruined your precious fun.
The worst kinds of players are the ones who refuse to accept the game is what it is, a *multiplayer* open world sandbox. It's not a mining game just because you wake up one day and decide that's what you want it to be, and so everyone else should conform to you.
@@canniballistic555 Yes. That’s fair, ad hominem attacks notwithstanding. I don’t enjoy spending two hours trying to setup for mining only to be attacked needlessly in a CIG defined safe zone by huge ships which break astrodynamics and immersion by bouncing their behemoths like sewing needles just to be annoying. But I’ll admit, some might find that fun.
Not saying I dont believe you but I have very seldom encountered this many players in this short period of time. Especially hopping between POIs. Did you have a crimestat? Because it almost seems like they knew where you were going. (CS tracker doesnt see the future but you can guestimate where someone is heading to based on where they are and what they are doing)
Otherwise, you could have just been incredibly unlucky. I havent experienced this consistent level of griefing. If it helps, they are going to be addressing griefing and pad-crashing within the next few patches.
Possible minor correction, I think the whole thing is called a shard not each individual server. The shard includes the distributed game server made up of a mesh of servers, the replication layer, and the global graph item database. But that is my understanding from previous communication, things might have changed!
This was my understanding as well.
Morph constantly makes this mistake
@@robertchandler2063 A lot of people do, I think because the word "shard" makes it sound like a fragment of something. So they naturally think "your instance of the game world is made up of server shards." But in reality it's "your instance of the game world is called a 'shard', and it's made of servers meshed together."
I think of it like shards of a mirror, all showing a reflection of the same thing at first, but each shard becomes a universe unto itself. But probably the simplest way to think about it is that your shard is the "copy" of the multiverse you are inhabiting.

Spend over an hour salvaging over 209 SCU just to have the servers crash, over and over again lost multiple 50k contracts and millions in salvage materials. Game is currently unplayable.
I'm personally really hyped for ship MFDs, atmospheres, fire, and engineering gameplay. Giving us more reasons to multi-crew ships in the environments they're building will make SC stand apart even more.
I strongly believe CIG needs to find ways to discourage destroying ships completely. And shields really should last much longer for ships larger than a light fighter. I'd expect medium to large ships have massive super capacitors to handle the load of someone shooting at the shields with a size of weapon that cant do the DPS necessary to overwhelm the power generator. I don't ever want small ships to be able to take out ships 4x+ their size.
Spotted the p2w whale lmao.
I want 1) Stability 2) More players per server so the game work feels properly alive 3) Quantum AI or whatever it's called now 4) some sense of character progression.
6:40 Can we finally decompress a part of a ship, to eject those pirates?
I got an Idris K this past week… can’t wait to use it and for you to review it!
They shouldn't be promising and developing new gameloops like engineering when none of the existing gameloops work reliably without game breaking bugs
Gameloops tend to work and then get broken which is different. Remember, folks have said it a 1000's times, this is in development and we're all testers. Expecting a reliable game is not on the cards. You my friend have come to the wrong gig!
DUUUUDE forget everything else- IM SO EXCITED FOR NEW MFD's

there should be asteroids with limited time shooting through stanton that are super valuable and will make orgs go to war against eachother over the rare maybe even exclusive materials they provide (commenting before i forget)

Road to Pyro 4 - This time it's plausible.
I would like one game changer for Star Citizen I'd like it to work...
It will be awesome to see Pyro fully realized... the inevitable gate camping that will come with it... not so much.
As there a space stations at each jump point, it's probably safe to assume they will be some sort of armistice zone
@@morgan123476 that would be the hope. Longer term I recall a desire to do away with armistice zones altogether, but that would likely place every alleles system in near lock down due to gate camping, essentially null-sec. Which might work great when there are more systems and not just one way in or out, until then “Pyro Safe?” may become the new hot question in game.
just a friendly reminder that we are 6 months into the year and only have an incomplete 3.23
Today is the first day of the 3rd month of Q2. They said release for 3.23 would be in Q2. They aren't late as they still have 4 and half more weeks of Q2 left. Sure, not everything made it to the initial release because they have a marketing schedule to keep, but you're making them out to be something they aren't. At least in this instance.

Hey, great video, **just a tip** . I see you edit with 4K in mind. In 3:13, you use a light font (similar to comfortaa). The problem with this font, at that size, is that it will only look clean when watiching the video at 4K (as is my case). But notice when you switch to a lower quality, like 1080p, the font is so thin it looks pixelated, and readibility is impaired (as those thin lines only look clear at a higher resolutions). In this case, the font size is not the issue, but the font thickness. Using the font in bold or semi-bold would likely solve this. I think taking that into account will make your videos more readable on 1080p and 2k, and on smaller sized screens. Cheers!!!
It's happening..... it has been happening every 5 minutes the last 1000 years!
Thanks for the high res wide screen - excellent vid.
I hope the game will actually stable this time.
During its free weekend event, I recently tried to play it for the first time. After clearing 100 GBs of space, going through security login bugs, and waiting through long loading time between when I click "launch game" to when I actually get to the main menu, I finally start the game, and I get a disconnect error during the loading screen, and get stuck in it forever unless I close the software.
I tried to get the game to work multiple times a day for two days, and I just gave up.
How can I trust to spend money on a game that not only requires server connection (meaning it'll one day be as playable as The Crew is today), but also can be unplayable for days in its current state? Doesn't help that the microtransactions are insane.
Love the new animations! Fantastic explanation of server meshing.
I love your videos, Morph! I just want to humbly offer a friendly correction that the Zeus Mk2 ES does not trade creature comforts for more space. That is the CL (Clipper). The ES will have the most space dedicated to habitation and creature comforts out of all 3 variants.
Engineering gameplay worries me, since my favourite ship is the Constellation and my friends aren't always around to play wrenchmonkey for me. I hope we get hireable NPCs soon after this change.
The Polaris and having a the crew working together smoothly without dsync
Did you make those animations explaining server meshing?? They're amazing! First time I've been able to understand the concept clearly.
Slight suggestion for improvement, whenever you mention CitCon, maybe also say the date - not everybody knows when CitCon is exactly :)
Thanks for the high quality content!
the ambitions of the developers surpass their abilities and it is not a good thing for the reputation of this game. If they just started by making the core elements work well first and then moved on on adding new features it would have been such a smoother ride. In dutch we use the saying, "they can't see the trees through the forest anymore"
One thing I found always weird was the disc like orbit shape of stanton. Glad to see that pyro has a more realistic, nonflat star system orbit shape. I hope the go out even more in the future to make it entirely 3 dimensional.
I have a feeling what this biggest patch ever is going bring in a practical everyday gameplay sense is simply some different colored planets. But hopefully master modes will be in a better spot by then.
I love Pyro's color design from what we've seen
I just want them to fix the inventory - for anyone with a slightly wider screen the inventory icons are HUGE - been this way for two years now. Couple that with the insane amount of overlapping text / nav markers and it is unplayable.
bad ui scaling, wow i never thought i'd hear about that from "pros"
this big step was supposed to be released like 5 big steps ago
Quarter 3 is July, August, and September. 4.0 being released "some time after Citizencon" will have it released in quarter 4. Hopefully they keep their Q3 release.
Last time I played, my box mission bugged out when the delivery machine door wouldn't open. I went on to try something else but got stuck in my ship seat. I decided to give up until the next patch.
wouldnt that mean that big skirmishes would cause severe problems with server performance or even having about 20 people on one ship causing crashes? I do feel creating shards will be a big step for the game and the upscale of the test is necessary, but I still wouldnt take my time of other games. Thank you morphologis for creating your videos and helping me being kept updated.
My end of video ad for this was a aUEC resale site. What a world.
any chance we might get to choose different eye color for each eyes in the character customizer ?
Giving more degrees of Ship Broken between "it explodes" and "Full function" is good, but there needs to be a commensurate increase in ease of getting extra crew members. I've commented before that I want options for crew-focused gameplay, and the ability to have either hireling NPCs or battledroids or something on board (or you have them but players can jump in rather than having their own specific character), and/or things like shipless buy-in specifically for those who want to do Marine gameplay or Engineer gameplay. Having big ships actually be good enough to justify dedicating multiple players to compared with everyone just bringing their own, but with engineering gameplay they also need to be usable without having a whole clan or community dedicated to crewing them up on demand.
Your videos make this game look so good lol. Every time I convince someone to try this with me, it goes wrong.
Scammers are good at scamming.
Can you turn off gravity generators yet? That would be better than venting atmo for boarders. They'll likely already have EVA suits on.
ILW did me good, finally got my hands on the Aegis Vulcan! Well, the jpg of it. Although, the loaner is a Starfarer, which could be useful once Pyro releases!
Morph, your cinematic shots are just amazing.
These videos of "new upcoming features" used to make me so excited. Now after many years I've realized they either never arrive or that when they finally do they're just shit. Even flying isn't fun anymore in 3.23.
EVA T2 is doing great in my experience.
I don't have the game loaded lately (ssd, need new system) but glad for all this stuff coming out, especially the Zeus Mk II (please don't hate me, Freelancer DUR).
i wonder if i would be able to enter combat without atmosphere in the ship to avoid fires and explosive decompression like The Expanse 🤔
I hope they go down the eve online route where there are some systems or places were there is no PvP. I’m all for PvP PVE, but some times you just wanna relax rather then look over your shoulder all the time
Server Meshing was supposed to be one of the big hurdles blocking VR implementation. I hope this means that they can FINALLY start working on that. The game is pointless without VR in my opinion.
Agreed, StarCitizen and VR were made for eachother.
It's been 4,095 days since I pledged for this game, which CIG said will launch with 100 star systems. I am so excited we're finally getting the 2nd one. (Soon, of course.) Only 98 more to go!
Yikes man. Well over 10 years and at least another 10-20 years from any sort of release
They will likely have 4.0 on PTU (working on bugs and performance) by the end of the year. I don't think it will be ready for live in 2024.
I don't doubt their plans or their determination. I doubt their ability to actually deliver stable enough patch.
Yeah hard to call this one, even for CIG. I believe the content won't be the issue and like you said, it's about stability, they'll need the mission and transit systems to be refactored and it's these that could cause delays. Q3 is obviously looking a bit tight, but I wouldn't rule out a release late in Q4. We'll ofcourse know a lot more around Citizencon when Evocati should have had a good chance to assess the patch by then!
Until they allow you to cut a hole in the hull of a ship boarding will be ehh especially if out numbered, only option is to go up an elevator or ladder? That sounds fun. And if dsync is still bad as always with people teleporting
Greta job ,thank you for the clarification on the details, very exciting stuff coming our way and I hope most people will be happy with the changes and the up dates to game play.
Stability and progression are what SC needs the most. Server issues hold the game back a lot; it's really frustrating to be unable to complete a mission because the enemies didn't spawn, the location phased out of existence, the interactables don't trigger, etc. Beyond that we need longer, more complex missions and gameplay loops, and things to earn besides aUEC.
I really hope we get a 600i rework before 4.0 as that's my exploration ship of choice.
So is there any expectation of it being even remotely playable by then?
This invictus was actually really good for my ccu chain. If i can get 2 more warbonds during alien week ill have a completed LTI chain.
I'm looking forward to 4.0, I had given up an SC For a bit but this update if it goes as planned will probaly be the thing tha brings me back to the game.
Fitting that the server meshing graphic looks like dice...
It's a roll of the dice to see if it works at scale
FINALLY, THE WEAPON DPS COMBAT FEELS LIKE IT SHOULD ! NOW I CAN RECOMMEND SC TO MY FRIENDS.....FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2012 !!!
Great video, a very clear and concise summary of what's coming. I fully suspect it to be quite unstable at initial launch, but hope the extra time it's taken them to get 4.0 done, will ease that transition. I look forward to reaching a state, where performance and stability isn't limited by a single server.
I have a little problem with the fire mechanic as is right now. Of course, fire is good and immersive, but
a) The spread of fire shown in the videos shouldn't be possible, at least if th hulls are made of metal
b) at least SOME ships should have a fire suppression system (not Drake tho)
To sum it up, I think fires should certainly exist, but they should be VERY rare, accounting for fire suppression systems, non-flammable materials, bulkheads etc.
This Invictus was great. I saw a new Drake ship...and then money flew out of my wallet's airlock.
I have Never heard of this Game. Looks literally insane.
Super fun pc game, in alpha still. But really great aside from bugs
It literally is insane on pretty much every level, good and bad lmao.
What you see here is a carefully crafted lie by a paid schill to fool you into spending money on what in reality is a buggy broken barely functional tech demo at best.
DONT spend money, wait for a freefly and see it that way.
I really hope the include a reason for us to explore...
When you can’t sleep and Morph drops a cinematic masterpiece- bliss!
I hope CIG doesn't make engineering game-play to restrictive. I don't want to be spending more time trying to fix the ship than actually playing the game.
It will be if you’re trying to solo or even duo a large multi crewed ship intended for 6+ people most likely, and imo that’s a good thing. Because there should be a downside to understaffing your large ships. I myself own a C2 to do cargo hauling but I understand that solo hauling it should have more risk, I can by myself keep the ship up and going in combat which considering the size of the thing is pretty stupid the way it is now. So I’m glad it’s getting reworked. But yes, for smaller ships such as the Avenger Titan which is meant as a solo ship, you should be able to handle it with little interaction with repairs or at least until you can end the fight and get to safety.
TTK is to fast for engineer crews to actually have an effect. Probably will see most engineers being members of ships that come and patch people up AFTER the fight, rather then DURING the fight until it becomes practical to do otherwise.
@@aeroskl6174 I think it would be very easy for CIG to overtune things and make even small and medium ships very difficult to operate solo or with a very small crew.
@@Archmage9885 definitely, it’ll be about finding the balance over the next year most likely.
@@aeroskl6174 Yep. My original point was that I hope they're careful and lean more towards making engineering less invasive, at least for the initial release.
I don't understand why the two Zeus variant have downsized things. Let me explain:
Why the cargo version have less quantum fuel, and why does the combat one as 1 less shield?
Star Citizen's server meshing tech has potential, but it might take a long time to fully optimize. This could lead to players losing interest and affect Cloud Imperium Games' finances.
The current system where backers fund the development might not work if they feel they're not getting enough for their money. While Star Citizen is ambitious, backers would appreciate a clearer plan with more frequent updates that show real progress.
It's important to remember that the backers come from all walks of life, including experienced tech professionals. They should be considered as stakeholders. Addressing concerns about mismanagement with clear communication and efficient development practices can help rebuild trust.
i think most of the community knows it's going to take a long time, we've waited 10 years already and with how promising progress is recently and the release of squadron 42 closer then ever there's more devotion to the game from the fanbase. at least that's how it looks to me, and when squadron 42 comes out that will give a lot of people an "actual game" to play. which will probably pull in more interest in the mmo side of things. so unless cig just goes dark for a few years with no warning i don't think the fanbase is going anywhere for at least another 10 years. but i don't speak for everyone that's just my take on it. after all there are less communicative dev teams that ignore their players a lot more that still get support and keep a decent fanbase.
Coming from a typical ''nobody who knows nothing'', stop parroting techno babble.
Star citizens community enjoys the game as is being so buggy lmao, and having low expectations when it comes to time of release makes its players and new players stay with the game, enjoying it for what it is. I wouldn’t expect this to become fully optimized for at least 3 years
Who chatgpts a yt comment
@@thetailpipe6762 You mum
Thanks for this mate. Nice summary.
Saw a comment tgat "babysteps" in it. For this project that's been going on for years, and will be for years to come, I find that pretty funny.
most excited for the engineering gameplay and the zeus, hoping that one of the variants drops sooner but it's a pipe dream and i'll just be happy when the ship is in game
Finally, all the engineering and ship damage being represented on the interior is exactly what I wanted for this game.
Very exciting prospects! Cant wait.
I’ve checked the objectives for the 4.0. Do we all need the fire hazard and the solar burst now? Why they don’t focus on the stability? Why there are currently six teams working on a ship?
Because they SELL ships and this game is not actually a game
A lot of times I see your videos and even tho I already know what you are going to talk about, I just watch it because of the absolute quality you provide.
Looking forward to grabbing a Standalone Zeus MK II
I was unable to actually visit the invictus hall without crashing. Hopefully this new update includes some performance optimizations.
were going to get pyro before functional elevators or qt markers that show up
