As a pilot IRL the flight model alone has a lot of depth as well that's largely overlooked. It's insane how the ships maneuver inside and outside of the atmospheres.
@@B.D.E. One thing to add to this. When you're landing at a bunker make sure to switch to SCM before you land so that your ship has shields while it's unattended while you're doing bunkers.

I just got the game a few days ago and am finally gonna be able to play it for the first time today. If you are ever looking for someone new to play with hit me up
I've had Star Citizen for a couple years but never fully invested myself because of all the lag and connection issues. I always check it every 6 months or so. I saw a random video this week and heard about an update, decided to check it out and god am I impressed with how smooth everything is. I needed an up to date guide that really covers those important bits while babying the keybinds (which I were wiped from memory). Clean guide, great execution! You got my sub sir. Keep up the effort it really shows in the quality!
Backed over 10 years ago, probably have 90 minutes total exploring various versions, as soon as I hit too many bugs/jankiness I quit and uninstalled for a year or two. Just decided to try again, its been 4 years this time since I last tried it. Wow the difference those 4 years have made, its like playing an actual alpha now. Still some jankiness but I can see how it is shaping up finally. I will probably start to familiarize myself with the game now, play some missions of each type and learn how to do basic things, then wait till 1.0 and SQ42.
one thing you should note in the tutorial is that you cannot alway set your route to a mission destination. Sometimes bounties are out in the middle of nowhere. And you have to travel to somewhere nearby then fly the rest of the way. Also an opportunity to teach people about canceling spline jumps part way. Also, with Klesher, you missed a few key points. 1. you can tap B to put your mining tool into vacuum mode to suck up ore instead of having to pick it up manually 2. if you go past depth (7 I think) you will no longer be monitored by a comm array. So you can kill other npc prisoners and steal their mined loot. They often have hadenite and dolivine. 3. you can find contraband on other prisoners (shivs, hacking tools, etc....). These can be turned in next to the ore turn in point. 4. when in an area without a comm array in the mining tunnels, you can get a mission to break out. Basically the same process as you mentioned, but you have to find a dead NPC in the escape tunnels that has a hacking chip on them. Near the end of the escape route, you can get a code to steal an Ursa rover and drive to a spot to clear your crime stat + find an escape ship.
Berks, this is truly topnotch work. I've been playing the game since 2022 but still found it very useful in prep for the big 3.23 patch. Thanks for putting it together for us. o7

Let me tell you, I have been playing the game for over six years and am a Wing Commander and Evocati, you taught me a bunch of stuff I didn't even know. Thank you.
Dude this video is so good. Most beginner tutorials tell you hints/tips or techniques but always stop short of the default key binding which still leaves me lost. Most vids told me that you can lock on and its sometimes buggy...but i still didn't know how to shoot the damn things lol. Until just now thanks to this video, i didn't know how to deploy Chaff or decoy. Should increase my survivability a bit lol And then you going the extra mile to suggest custom key binds for functions you recommend over others is SUPER appreciated. I'll be checking out more of your vids for sure! Thanks brotha!

Just a heads up - you can disable the slowdown when deploying landing gear by going into "Options -> Keybindings > Advanced Keybinds > Flight - Movement", and making a keybind for "Automatic Precision Mode (Toggle)". Tapping that key will disable the speed limit with landing gear on.

So respect to all of you who play SZ permanently. I've been following SZ for the last six months and have just bought 3.23. It's absolutely crazy how much is still broken here. Out of 10 missions I can complete maybe 2 without it having serious bugs. I hope SC focuses on polishing the game instead of continuing to introduce new features.
SC won't be polished till they have everything they want in the base game. If they optimized every patch would take 10x longer and slow progress of the game even more than it is

The thing with leaving your shields on when landing is that it raises your ships resting signature, and honestly, if your ship is being shot while you aren't in it, odds are VERY slim that you'll make it back before the shields drop and it explodes unless you're flying something extremely hefty. On the subject, remember to close your ship doors behind you when you get out, as they'll lock by default, so someone will have to shoot them open to steal it/clear it out.
