Today we're taking a deep dive into both the HGGU and HGAC Gundam Aesculapius kits to see whether the old one still holds up as a good alternative to the (reasonably) expensive HGAC version. While the HGAC version is superior overall, it doesn't seem to render the old one obsolete at all.

But I just want to point out that my old Aesculapius is still solid & seldom popping off even after 20 years without any glue whatsoever except for the V-fin 😀.

Whenever a pairing arrives, I'd be sure to get that done. Actually, the RG Wing deserves that as well now that I think of it. And the EG Strike, and the EG Gramps. Yeah... a lot

I salute you man. I have bought new iterations of older kits but unceremoniously usually got rid of the old ones due to limited shelf space.
. Having said that, usually, older kits have their own charms so comparison videos would serve nicely for people!
Keeping with the series, I own the new hgac geminass but couldn't find it in my heart to get rid of my old one haha.
Edit: actually iirc last year they did reissue the old g unit kits. I've had mine for a few years now.

and this comparison is amazing....actually Bandai did REALLY good for these 97 G unit kits. Still have a spare Hydra in case my general one breaks....

I like this series! Maybe you can do the old 1/100 wing kits to the new ones or maybe even x kits too, since they have a lot of detail for the time

The vintage Aesculapius isn’t produced often, thus I’ve seen the resale value higher than the HGAC, but the modern version resale value does roughly double the vintage version.
Yeah... The vintage version does end up being cheaper after all
perhaps a kitbash would give you the ultimate version of this gundam
Kinda hard to bash kits of different engineering and design together, but I'm sure someone out there has tried or would try to

I have the old one and am waiting for the new one to arrive in the mail. Cant wait to have them side by side like I do the geminass. I hope the others get newer kits too since I have all the old ones. Having them all next to eachother would be nice :)

@@kaigen999 so far I'm seeing HG vs RG God and RD vs HG Phantom. But you can suggest pairings I can take a look at or add to the list for future reference

Woah there, that's given I find them first. I will do them given that AND that the rest of the boys get a modern HGFC counterpart to compare against. Ball's in Bandai's court now
@@mj2005gundam Of course there's a million RXs, Strikes, and Unicorns. Try to stay away from that as much as possible.
I'm a weird Gundam Fan. I mostly prefer design that are accurate to the source materials(anime/manga) regardless if the kit is old or modern.

6:28 didn't bandai reprinted those old g unit kits like a year ago, even with blue logo and all??
They were reissued in 2020 as far as I remember, don't remember if they were in 2021
Even if I have the new one, gotta say, the old kit feels like it has more personality. I can't explain how; but that's just how it feels to me.....
