Another year, another delayed list. Though to be fair, I had a lot to deal with IRL, so the delay to the list can't be helped. Anyway, here is my top 10 kits that came out in 2023, premium included. Being the year of G-Witch S2 and Metaverse, plus at lot of PB kits, 2023 was an impactful year for Gunpla for both good and bad reasons.

I just wanna say, that the Gundam Calibarn is the best model kit I've ever built, with all of the neat detailing I gave it and everything, I hope there will be a master grade for both that one, and the Arieal.
Bandai seem to have moved on from G-Witch, but we shall see later on

yep, in my country that damned thing is always at 100% price mark up at the very least. truly insane
In the Philippines the calibarn never got restock in our stores and scalpers price it so high that the permet score six ver from pbandai is cheaper and only way to have a hg calibarn
It absolutely sucks that that's the case, even when it's almost a year old.

Perfect timing as this is my 1st year anniversary into the hobby ð. That's so many nice kit to choice from in 2023 release alone. Quick question, if you don't have to limited to 2 kit per show, how many WFM kit will be on the list?
About 5 or 6 I think? I mean, the ones in the honorable mentions section would've made it if it weren't for the limit to give other series a chance
We can always agree that the Gundam Calibarn will always be the best HG kit that exist, a shame that the permet score 5 is a premium bandai rather thsn an additional sticker for the normal release. Also Bandai should not abandon the idea of Full Mechanics version of this kit either...
I'm sure there'd be something to top the Calibarn someday. Though if it's any consolation, a red sharpie would solve the red shell unit problem instead of having to go through P-Bandai

ima give my top 5:
1. MG Virtue- it was a wild and fun build (though *32+ RUNNERS MY GOD*) but the sheer amount of detail and overall solidity of the kit blew me away
2. HG Macross Durandal + Expansion Set- as both a Macross and Gundam fan, the Durandal was just awesome. Disregarding the stickers, the overall solidity (ignore the back cannons), beautiful clear parts, and abundance of detail and imposing, yet cutesey silhouette makes the Durandal just awesome
3. HG Beguir Pente- This should not be on the list. When it first came out, I thought of it as nothing more than a "waifu bodyguard for a gyan 2.0". But seriously, it has its merits. The sturdy Grassley frame made it hold up really well, and the shield is just glorious. However, I'm more focused on the alien aesthetic (i loved the beu design as a hawk-like inquisitor but disliked the bald no-antenna head), and Im currently kitbashing it with my hg michaelis and other parts to convert it into a 00 innovator ga-series mobile suit
4. HG Michaelis- When i first saw the Michaelis, i loved it instantly (as with other reviewers like TypeV3 (RIP) for knightly aestheitcs). THe head design (wicked antenna and zimmad-like plus visor) was aweseome, and it just looked awesome. The sole reason im not ranking it higher is because I feared that, as with other knightly ms pilots (ex. mcquve, carta issue, kazami s1, treize, chara soon, kaouroko sazaki) he would have a character flaw that ruins him. Of course you can imagine my reaction when seeing it in the anime
5. HG Provedel- this thing is a beast, just watch out for the hips
Kinda missed the point with the MG Virtue as it isn't a 2023 release, but those are strong kits, the non-Gundam ones from what I've heard anyway. Though the Grassley kits are starting to loosen up for me despite not having messed with them much since I've done the review, they were still great for what they are when fresh

The grassley kits for me hold up well (especially those legs) but i do need to tighten the hand covers, shoulder joints, and elbows once in a while. I guess part of this is the double-edged sword of plastic on plastic and clip connections
I'm a UC fan at heart, but that doesn't mean I can't experience other kits from different series. So far I've been enjoying G Witch kits a lot, just because how solid and flexible they are. Lfrith Anavata and Schwarzette are my favourite kits from this series, they are really fun to pose. I might get Calibarn next, just for that RGB colour, it's a gaming Gundam ðŪðū
You definitely should get the Calibarn. It's like the perfect unique beginner kit you can get out there
I like Maxter and Shin Kamiki. Not for the design but for how unique they are compared to other MS.
You don't see alot of mechs that could handle unarmed combat that could rival those that use weapons.
Gives a sense of unpredictable and leaves your opponents to let their guard down due to cockiness.
Sunrise should probably make more martial arts based mobile suits and I hope Bandai doesn't turns them into P-bandai.
That's what made me like melee units in the first place. Not only do they take skill to use, they're also unique in how they fight, martial arts units especially.

Because of the stigma surrounding HGIBO kits, some might find me crazy to have just such a kit in my top 10
Your top 2 kits are also the top 2 kits for scalper in my country.
I think their quality (and hype) is what caused the demand to skyrocket in the first place

Last year I mainly build MG so my list will be a lot of 1/100 and here's the list
1st - MGEX Strike Freedom
2nd - MG Barbatos
3.rd - MGSD Barbatos
4th - MGSD Freedom
5th- MG GM Sniper II
6th - MG Char's Zaku II v.2.0
7th - RG God Gundam
8th - RG Force Impulse
9th - HG Guel's Dilanza
10th - HG Beguir Pente
This year I build a lot more 1/144. Yes, SEED Freedom kits and your channel successfully pulled me to this 1/144 size ð

I'm honestly tempted by Epyon. A great villain candidate for a Gundam roleplay.
The RG is menacing too
I like build strikes design a little more than the other build metaverse gundams.
Build Strike EG manages to be new yet stays true to the classic design
Maybe I can kitbash it with the upcoming striker packs like the sword striker or something.
the backpack is just to bland, had the kit come with a cool striker pack it would be way better
Mine is aerial rebuild, darilbalde, schwarzette and epyon
Darilbalde is a 2022 release, but I agree with those being top of the line

The more I compare Kamiki Burning with Shin Burning, the more I ask if it's worth spending extra just for the wings and effect parts especially when the core is almost identical.
It depends on the aesthetics and effect parts that you like. If you have to choose and penny-pinch, it's not worth having them both

I just gathered footage from my gameplay as it's a mecha game. I love the game to bits, amplified by my preordering of the 30MM kits
Its obvious g-witch will top the chart, but my suprise from EG Exceed Galaxy and HG FC inclusion
I had to impose a hard limit on different kit series just so G-Witch doesn't dominate the list. Besides, some of the larger releases I haven't built, so I can't speak on those, so some inferior kits will have to take their place
The fact we don't have a RG Deathscythe upsets me.
Even though it was promised to us way back when I think the RG Wing Zero Custom was announced

My conspiracy theory is that the RG Destiny Impulse kit was only made because originally it was supposed to be in the Freedom movie, but then Fukuda changed his mind about it so they said fuck it, just release it because we made it already. Seriously that thing was supposed to get a hg kit in like....2016 and nothing happened until right before Freedom was released and it turned into an rg. And like, redesigning the Destiny wings for some obscure ass suit and releasing it out of nowhere..its too good man they canât have cooked for no reason.
Anyways glad we got it though because its honestly my favourite Gundam design but still mad we were robbed of it being in the movie ð
It was strange to many that out of all of the reused units, the Impulse was the one that didn't get a nuclear reactor. I suggested the Destiny Impulse R which doesn't have the Core Splendor mechanic and would actually be the logical evolution of the Impulse line. But no, robbed of both possibilities because Bandai wanted to do nothing but reuse kits.
mfw half of them are p bandai kits, and that's on bandai not you. just annoying they're more or less impossible to get in the eu without spending the equivelent to a months worth of rent
I've tabulated the kit releases in 2023, and there are 37 retail Gunpla to 42 Premium Gunpla, excluding straight color variants like clear or special finishes. As much as credit is due to the kits I've put on the list, it's absolutely a terrible phenomenon, and I hate that a lot of my 2023 top picks are kits inaccessible to three quarters of the world

It's a kit I don't have, so I cannot speak on it at all. The list is made up of kits I've actually built. Besides, the MG Zeta Ver Ka doesn't interest me

While I agree that the schedule appears quite frequently, I cannot agree that it's "easy to misclick". Never once have I clicked into the schedule, and in fact, it makes me feel excited about the upcoming video. Besides, I can still watch other channels and content just fine, so I don't really understand what you're complaining about because those problems isn't an actual problem at all, you just need to pay more attention
